3441  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unable to locate package libsecp256k1-0 on: October 20, 2021, 03:44:33 PM
Here is the strange part, after I load the unsigned transaction, I sign it offline, then I see a QR code, I can take that QR code, decode it, convert to hex, and I can load that signed raw transaction into a block explorer and it shows me all the inputs, outputs, fee, etc so I can double check before I broadcast it.

So it seems the unsigned raw transaction is buggy but the signed raw transaction isn't. I hope you can understand what I am trying to say because its difficult to describe without showing.
That's expected.
The unsigned RAW transaction is "PSBT", not a "Raw Transaction" as I explained above,
you can read BIP-174 for more info: https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0174.mediawiki#specification
It can't be decoded by blockexplorers because it's not an actual bitcoin transaction, just a "Partially Signed Bitcoin Transaction" which is different than a raw txn (check link above).

But after it's fully signed, Electrum will construct a valid signed raw transaction that can be broadcast to the network.
It's now in the proper format so blockexplorers or other transaction decoders can now decode it.

Ok, make sense.

Thanks alot everybody for all your help.

Seems to be up 100% today. And still climbing. Been a while since i've been up to date with this coin. Any news? Seems like the 100% could be do to some Binance listing. Why is it going up 100% when most alts are down this week. Very strange.

Maybe some people finally understood how undervalued this microcap GBYTE is https://www.reddit.com/r/obyte/comments/qaueft/here_is_an_example_how_cheap_gbyte_is/

Or they are excited about oswap.io v2 https://blog.obyte.org/whats-next-for-obyte-oswap-v2-71caa4181c6d

Yes I've been following this coin since 2017 and I agree, very strange that it doesn't have a higher market cap compared to most of the coins out there these days. Especially considering how much has gone into the developement. I find it very undervalued also, been hodling since 2017 some bytes.

3444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will you do when you cant mine Eth anymore? on: October 19, 2021, 02:42:34 AM
I think if ETH 2.0 is officially confirmed and an estimated timeframe is given, you will see the hashrate slowly decrease as it comes closer and closer to the date. It will be mining who will be liquidating their farms to sell because the supply rises of the GPUs. This is only my theory. Might not be the case.

However whenever there was an BTC halving we saw that the hashrate barely changed. Reason why is because miners prepared for it months in advance. They sold off their old inefficient gear and upgraded to new gear. Hence why I think the same will happen with ETH.
3445  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC hovers above $61K amid US regulators against physical product Bitcoin ETF on: October 18, 2021, 06:00:22 AM
snip

Yes this is what I read on Friday, the keyword there is "could". The title of the article is first bitcoin futures exchange "may" go live on Monday. The words "could" and "may" don't make it a concrete deal. There was an SEC letter floating around which says that Nasdaq approved the listing, however they sent this to the SEC and not from the SEC. It just means they could list it for trade pending approval.

That NYSE ticker you included is not an actual stock to trade. Its just an index. There is no volume there. It just some benchmark which takes various Coinbase, Bitstamp prices and shows it. This is not the new BTC ETF ticker. This is something else. The BTC ETF price will be completely different, wont be in the same units as BTC is.
3446  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC hovers above $61K amid US regulators against physical product Bitcoin ETF on: October 18, 2021, 05:41:09 AM
I still can’t find any source which says it was approved. All I read is that they didn’t delay or deny it yet. I also have no idea when they will be able to launch it for trading. Will it be tomorrow, next week or next month.

The issue with this futures ETF is obviously the premium they will have to pay everytime they roll the contracts. This is similar to the crude oil etf which is never ideal for long term investment. For long term investment you might be actually better off with GBTC.
3447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Too good to be true?! on: October 18, 2021, 05:36:37 AM
Bitmain is very famous for mining with their ASICS for a few months and then later on selling it to their customers. Many people observed this when they would dust inside their miner which Bitmain claimed was simply “dust” season in the factory it was built.

Right now their issue is with the China crackdown. So most likely it will be a while until you will be able to order one and mine with it.  Most likely by the time you pay and the time you receive it, the difficulty will grow a large bunch. Buy it if you wish but just know the risks.
3448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Say I have free electricity on: October 18, 2021, 05:04:19 AM
Your best bet would be to get the older and less efficient GPUs like the RX 470 570 480 580 8GB. These are generally less inflated compared to most of the newer GPUs and they only use like 120 watts each.

So with your power availability it would work. I think you can buy from sources from China somewhere. If you search this forum you can find a thread where someone found some on Alibaba. They hash at 30mhs.

You can also get a few old ASICS easier to maintain and set up, however they are more much power hungry, the older the generation. So your best bet are GPUs.
3449  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon musk now the richest man in earth on: October 17, 2021, 03:57:11 AM
He should enjoy while it lasts. Hard times coming soon.

Even if this is true i am pretty sure his off spring and their off spring are well settled financially. Even if he is left with a billion, that is still more money that he can ever spent in a life time.

Sure most of his wealth is tied to his Tesla stock holdings. And it’s possible there might be a larger pullback in the markets and he can lose tons of his billions but I don’t think he would really care.

You think Bill Gates cares that he is no longer the riches or Warren Bufffet, obviously they don’t.
3450  Economy / Economics / Re: Reality Check on Crypto on: October 17, 2021, 03:52:32 AM
What he says is partly true. The volatility is not good however this is why stable coins exist. Sure people in El Salvador are happy when BTC had a crazy rally since it became legal tender however they wouldn’t be too happy if it went the other way.

Imagine getting paid to Do a job in BTC. Then 1 month later it loses 20% value, then the month after another 20%. This obviously is way too volatile for most people, especially those that depend on their pay check. Hence why stable coins are important.
3451  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Arbitage trading on: October 17, 2021, 03:47:41 AM
During arbitration, you will always depend on how fast the exchange processes withdrawal requests. Today I participated in a discussion on telegram about how some traders bought Flow at a low price on Coinlist in the hope of selling coins at a higher price on Binance, but their withdrawal requests have not yet been processed, despite the fact that more than 10 hours have passed. And now no one knows how much the Flow will cost when it is credited to Binance.

Yeah you can’t do arbitrage that way. The reason why the arbitrage was possible was because obviously there are delays in transferring from exchanges. So whenever you see some large arbitrage you need to investigate further, because usually there is a reason for it. Most likely is that you can’t get it out of the exchange.

Remember that Korean premium a few years back. The price for Bitcoin on the Korean exchanges was like 5-10%. And people wanted to take advantage and turns out it wasn’t that easy. You would basically be stopped where you can’t withdraw the money from the Korean exchanges back to the other exchange to complete the arb.
3452  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Stop lose trading feature on: October 17, 2021, 03:43:47 AM
Here are a few tips if you are going to use stops. Always use stop market and if you use stop limit, make sure the limit price is large enough from the stop, because there are times when it can come completely crashing down and there won’t be any liquidity to fill your stop if it’s too close to the stop price.

Another tip I don’t put your stop on the daily high or lows or near psychological numbers. Like if you bought BTC now don’t put your stop at $60000. There is a very high probability that the $60K will get run and it will stop you out and might reverse. Basically a liquidity trap.
3453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The more you wait on: October 17, 2021, 03:38:06 AM
Well if there is some crypto bear market and GPUs are available at MSRP most likely you won’t be buying them anyways. Now you want to buy because it’s profitable however if it’s not profitable will you want to buy then? Most likely not.

Regarding the comment on stock market crash. It will be a while before fed increases rates and people have poured uninvested money into crypto back when BTC was like $15-20K because at the time the stock market was just way too overpriced and it seemed risky to invest in stocks so they chose crypto. So what you are saying is not true.
3454  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unable to locate package libsecp256k1-0 on: October 16, 2021, 06:11:11 AM
Ok so everything seems to work however I am confused in one area.

With the older versions I would make an unsigned transaction, then display a QR code, then I would take that QR code, decode it, convert to hex, and I could load that unsigned raw transaction into a block explorer and it would decode it for me with the inputs, outputs, fees, timelock, etc. Now I can't do that. I can use the export feature and copy to clipboard however a single 1 input 2 output transaction is extremely large. Basically I need to split the text into 2-3 parts, take 2-3 photos, and group them together back into the offline computer.

3455  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Learn to trading - any suggestion? on: October 16, 2021, 03:48:48 AM
You can go to YouTube and watch some videos about stock trading. There are hundreds of them out there. Don’t buy anything from those videos but just watch it to learn common termonology and get comfortable being in the markets.

Then try yourself with small sums, because most likely you will lose this money anyways. After a few months of trading you will get better and better at it. So remember to always go with the trend such as now only taking long trades and always use stop losses even if they get hit regularly.
3456  Economy / Speculation / Re: 60k price recovery achieved on: October 16, 2021, 03:43:20 AM
Finally the reverse bubble burst and the price went back to what it should have been at least 1.5 months ago if there were no FUD and panic sells. Now that the bear whales have lost significant amount of money we can expect very little resistance since there is no more shorters either, and see price soar to much higher prices.

The 4-year cycle continues and $400k+ is still the target I have my eyes on according to previous performances.

The reason we are at $60K has nothing to do with the bears. If you were looking at the funding rates for the past few months they were mostly flat, maybe a little negative. And whenever we had a huge day with daily gains and if you looked at the liquidation data, there was hardly any liquidations during most periods.

Remember that $1.6B market buy order, I think only like $17M were short liquidations the rest were people opening up long positions. Something obviously was leaked that the ETF would get approved so people have been buying like crazy for the past few weeks. The large CME futures premium was another hint.
3457  Economy / Speculation / Re: 60k price recovery achieved on: October 16, 2021, 02:11:19 AM
So is it official proved or not? Going to Bloomberg they state that it “may” be open for listing on Monday. There were a few documents posted earlier today however none of them fully state that it was approved.

Some guy yesterday said that if they were to reject it would have to be today since October 18 is the day when it can launch. However I did some research and still don’t have a concrete answer on this.

So is the ETF actually approved or not?
3458  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum - verifying at least two signatures - I got 1 public key but not others on: October 15, 2021, 04:16:17 PM
On the download page you can find:

Our executables are reproducible, and are signed independently by several builders.

The link from there goes to: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/tree/master/pubkeys
And you'll find all the public keys there, including Emzy.

Interestingly on https://download.electrum.org/4.1.5/ I cannot see Emzy's asc, only ThomasV and sombernight_releasekey

I just went thru this a few days ago, I couldn't find his key from that directory but if you go to

Quote

Which is basically linked to on

Quote

Under Emzy signature for Linux Appimage you should be able to download it. I think he forgot to add it to download.electrum.org but its listed under the github downloads.

I was paranoid too and I verified all 3 signatures and I took ThomasV signature even from 3 different sources to make sure its legit. If you want another method of verifying the file. The sha256sum for electrum-4.1.5-x86_64.AppImage is

3459  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unable to locate package libsecp256k1-0 on: October 15, 2021, 03:30:27 AM
Yes it seems to work now.

Got another question.

When I make an unsigned transaction, go to Export, -> Show as QR code. Then I take that QR code, decode it, and use an Electrum base 43 converter to convert it into hex like on,

Quote

The unsigned transaction I get doesn't load on the offline Electrum Or even be able to decode it on

Quote

What I did with Electrum 2.x-3.x was I displayed the QR code on the online computer, took a photo with a digital camera and put in that QR photo into my offline computer, decoded the QR code, then that base 43 I converted into hex, and was able to Load the transaction as a text and was able to sign it.

However the unsigned raw transaction seems to be much longer compared to how I did it with the older electrum versions. Wondering how I can get it to load on my offline computer by taking a digital photo and then putting that SD card into that computer and reading it somehow. I don't have a USB cam laying around to use on my offline computer.
3460  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Arbitage trading on: October 15, 2021, 02:57:52 AM
Arbitrage was possible a few years ago however now you can forget about it unless you code a bot and got tons of funds and alts on many exchanges. Very rarely is there a large enough arbitrage trade which will yield you a profit, minus the trading fees and transaction fees, hence only way to do it is if you already own and hold the coins on multiple exchanges.

That way you are only paying the trading fee and not transaction fee since you don’t need to send the coins back and forth on the block chains. Hence it’s only for the market Makers and those who hold lots of coins and do lots of volume. As a small trader you pay higher fees as a market maker your fees are reduced because if you trade more volume they charge you less fees.
