363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MyBitcoin Back Up! on: August 05, 2011, 04:28:29 AM
Buying time?

he just said he's declaring bankruptcy....   there is no figure on what people will get back... if anything...  maybe 10% back... maybe 50% back... maybe 0% back..

If he's declaring bankruptcy that means that it was a huge loss.

Soo.... time to buy?
364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin by the stats on: August 05, 2011, 02:15:59 AM
Probably not a good time to be loosing faith.  Pull yourself together! (smacks you) Flexcoin! FTW
365  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stock market crash - 5 % overall on: August 05, 2011, 02:03:29 AM
LOL @ anyone long stocks. You better pray for inflation, in which case your money would be better in PMs anyway. I agree it is silly to think of bitcoins as they currently stand as a good store of value, but if ppl want to think of them as a high risk high reward investment that's fine.

You do realize the entire global economy is on the verge of another large tailspin right (by which of course I mean we never actually left the first one, only ignored it for a bit). The longer you delay the inevitable, the more violent the contraction.

I feel the same.  Stocks are the last thing I'd be in, long.
366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: August 04, 2011, 07:19:03 PM
I think people should write Bruce encouraging letters. Send him good vibes, some love and maybe a few bitcoins. Tell him how much he has done for the community and how we all appreciate him. What else can we do?

That's a good idea... Bruce has done a lot of work for Bitcoin, the least we can do is each send a few BTC his way, but when I clicked on the donate link of bitcoinme.com it appeared to be broken.

Yeah I believe that link went to Mybitcoin.

Guy's a douchebag.
368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So, who hasn't lost coins or been scammed? on: August 04, 2011, 05:30:04 AM
I've never lost 1 bitcoin yet.  (knock on fake wal mart wood desk)
369  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY!!! on: August 04, 2011, 04:30:40 AM
Just watch it go right back down... Your wishfull (and greedy) thinking can't help the fact this will probably settle around 10$ for the next few days (until it goes lower probably). I could be wrong though, but we'll see.
I mean, your milking the cow is really becoming boring. You and Edward50 post one identical post after another, he just tries to convince everyone btc will fall and you try to convince everyone btc will rise...

after seeing many little green candlesticks in a row, the HUGE red hammer never fails.

"Come on, I insist, $10. Here. Here are some Pajamas and Slippers. Please stay for awhile"

Ok, but only for a while..  Grin

Looks like some bulls are getting some action while the bears are hibernating
371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coincidence that 100,000 bitcoins go missing and two days later prices are at $8 on: August 04, 2011, 03:27:30 AM
This correction has been coming for some time now. I think the Mybitcoin incident is just a coincidence.
I think it makes sense. People have been getting a bit scared about how to store their coins. On their PC they could be snatched by trojans, web services snatch the coins for themselves or simply disappear the wallet, and so on. So they sell them...

We really need to make it easier for mainstream folk to secure part of their wallets. Yes, there are a lot of proposals for this, but it'll take some time for trust to be restored.

why do we need to trust people, with bitcoin you do not need to. only trade what you are prepared to loose.

You dont need to trust anyone with bitcoin? wha?
372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kevin Rose (Digg, old TechTV) and Philip Rosedale (Second Life) talk Bitcoin on: August 04, 2011, 03:12:58 AM

Starts 20 minutes in ( http://youtu.be/y_8skcWUUiM?t=20m2s )

Thanks to reddit http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/j806m/kevin_rose_and_philip_rosedale_creator_of_second/

I like the talk on a negative on Bitcoin itself is the early adopters.   I think we have seen this.

People are not spending.  Especially now with so much other negative bullshit surrounding BTC.

Funny how Kevin Rose accidentally deleted his Bitcoin.

Great stuff thanks.
373  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin7.com - Brand new exchange market! on: August 03, 2011, 10:20:27 PM
I think bitcoin7 should add a support ticket system to their site.

I'm currently having a problem. Sad

Why do you use Bitcoin 7 just curious.
374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Matthew N. Wright Scammer or Not? on: August 03, 2011, 10:12:18 PM
All these immediate accusations of SCAMMER! just hurt bitcoin as a whole.

He's not getting or asking for any money from anyone.  How can he be a scammer?

This
I just don't get it Huh

He actually was asking for money to fund his investigation.
375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Freedom and Responsibility - or: why you FAILED if you lost money in MBC crash on: August 03, 2011, 09:25:24 PM
Quote
This was the oldest, longest standing bitcoin eWallet site in existence.   It had a strong record of stability.   It had been around nearly since the beginning of bitcoin itself.    People who trusted using an eWallet at all...  trusted it.   It had 10s of thousands of account holders.   Some of the smartest, most reputable, long-standing bitcoin community leaders used it.

So, before you "trusted" your money to mybitcoin.com, recommended to personal friends that they trust "mybitcoin.com", and recommended mybitcoin.com to people online, you spent +/- $2000 to fly down and meet the people behind it ... right.

I think you need to look up the word trust.

The second day I got into bitcoin I knew it mybitcoin.com was bad news and pulled everything out of mybitcoin.com.

The damage you have done to bitcoin is immeasurable.

Yeah I expected more from Bruce from a security stand point. I do remember him emphasizing securing your passwords for multiple websites that are sensitive in nature that relate to bitcoin. Why he would leave an open door to be taken advantage of like this I cannot understand especially with an amount of bitcoin as 25k.

That's the equivalent of taking $250,000 of your own money and saying let me store it in someone else's bank account in which they have the authority to access the funds at will and I trust them.

No one in their right mind would ever let some unknown/faceless person you never met store your $250k in THEIR bank account. And on top of that the recommending of using the same process to others to store their bitcoins and countless worth in dollars is like 10 times worse.

The first thing I would have done is taken the 25k bitcoins and broken them up into 1k lots and stored them in separate wallets on separate jump drives that have duplicates store off site of where I am at locked up in a safe (not the bank of course).

Decentralization of the storage of your bitcoins is probably the best idea one can use to protect their investment.

Agreed
376  Economy / Speculation / Re: PANIC! on: August 03, 2011, 04:42:27 PM
I get a bit excited seeing the price plummeting, not sure why since my money is at stake.

lol me too for some reason.

SEE TITLE.
378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UABB is a... on: August 03, 2011, 04:07:21 PM
If he stops spamming the forums and insulting people I might give him an ear. Smiley
379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just in case you missed it, the UABB is spearheading a Mybitcoin investigation on: August 03, 2011, 02:36:11 PM
The UABB sounds like intellectual masturbation by one poster and every post I read signed MATTHEW N WRIGHT is another step to confirm that.

I agree with the public consensus these days on what it "looks like", and that there are few people here who actually have the energy or experience to know when something is good or bad by looking at, and prefer to just yell scam or 'fake' at the first sign of a startup.

It's not easy trying to start potentialy one of the most influencial organizations to affect Bitcoin. I realize not everyone sees it that way, even when looking at it from a calm and intellectual approach, but that's why it's on me, my colleagues, and our efforts in the meatscape to prove it! And by god we will  ^_^

I'd love to believe that your business is real.  But you come across as a dickhead that has a "holier than thou" attitude.  You shouldn't insult people and expect them to do business with you at the same time.  The tradehill guys do a great job of being active in a positive way.
380  Economy / Speculation / Re: Expect the price to go lower on: August 03, 2011, 04:58:01 AM
Thing is if we drop to single digits especially mid-range single digits, I know me personally, will be snatching them up happily. I'm not sure how many people have the same mindset as me but I'm sure I'm not the only one. Will it be a good idea? Maybe, Maybe not. Though I also feel if we drop below 10 there will be a lot of panic selling.

Bingo, dropping this low is, to me, not a sign that this thing is anything I ought to put anymore money into.

hahhahah
