361  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just HODL on: February 09, 2024, 02:33:04 PM
When we say HOLD it doesn't mean it will be forever, sometimes we did this because it was needed. And this actually necessary when investing Bitcoin as we hold during price correction and sell them when we get the satisfying price. Holding is not difficult but for some people, this could be a big challenge for them and why? As we can see, not all investors become successful in crypto and that is because not are willing to wait. Impatient people doesn't like doing this, they'd rather prefer to lose some $ than just waiting. Imagine, if we all knows how to hold and patient, we all become rich already but the opposite things happen as only a few people manage to do it while others are giving up when crisis comes.
362  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to manage gambling winnings on: February 09, 2024, 12:38:19 PM
I don't get why you don't use cryptocurrency sites to do your gambling/placing sports bets.  For me that was the huge game changer once Bovada started allowing bitcoin.  I personally am not a big fan of the regulated sites here in the US.  It just makes everything more complicated and difficult in my opinion.

How strict the law in the US? Were gamblers using a fiat sportsbook required to pay taxes? And are there gamblers already being jailed for failing to pay their obligation?  If you are US, I think this regulation thing is hard to skip, so you have no choice but to comply with the law.

I just want to ask, is there any way to gamble a non regulated gambling site safely when you are in the USA?

Quote
That said I've been hearing they are improving, so maybe they'll eventually start accepting crypto.
But they could still require the gamblers to pay taxes, or not anymore? What's the advantage of using crypto in terms of taxation?
363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There is nothing like it since the past 12 years on: February 09, 2024, 12:18:09 PM
As bad as it sounds, you need to be out of your mind to invest your last savings. Investing means investing money that you can afford to lose, not the last money for food and family.

That's what I meant. Everyone cannot do these kinds of things and it's not necessary as well. People need to stay healthy and strong so they can work. So, it's never advised to save money without having a meal. You cannot even imagine doing these things if you have a family who needs food. Even men stay hungry to feed their family members. I have seen and heard a lot of times that the father didn't eat but they bought a good meal for their kids. You should invest only if you have some spare money.
If investing is not our priority, even having extra money still won't go into investment instead, it go into useless stuff. But if we think about our future, even earning small money, we could still have extra money to start an investment. But you are right, we don't need to sacrifice our health just for the wants to save and have investments still we need to know what is our first priority and what is less priority. To have a better future, we have to make a plan earlier and a goal in life as this will serve as our motivation why we work hard and we should save money.
364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Teofimo Lopez Vs. Jamaine Ortiz WBO Welterweight Title February 8 on: February 09, 2024, 11:27:42 AM
Lopez needs to fight a good fighter in his next fight, not someone who just employs a hit-and-run tactic and Ryan could give him that, or SubrieL Matias who is a pressure fighter, that's the fight worth watching.

I like Ryan for him, he is still the champion so Ryan will have to challenge him. he deserve a big fight and with Ryan, it will be a sure blockbuster fight, so hopefully it will happen this year, probably in the 2nd half of the year.

That's to ensure that the fight will not be boring. Ryan has a height advantage on Lopez IMO but they are a good match. This fight, based on the bookmakers, Lopez was the heavy favorite, but maybe if Ryan and him will face each other, it will be a close match making only Lopez a slight favorite.

I can't wait to see it, I hope people will ask for it and the two will agree so they can finalize it as soon as possible.

Jamaine Ortiz just could not hurt Lopez, well, we can't blame him though, his KO rate is very low, that's why.
365  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When is the best time to trade a Bitcoin on: February 09, 2024, 06:48:34 AM

So for me in this situation you can buy your Bitcoin at day time and trade it at night when it adds
But it is very important to watch at it carefully.
That is your preferred time but it doesn't mean that it proves it was the best time for trading. I do a trade when I have free time, more often after office hours, that is a night. I chose the time when I could spend more time and focus on the task. Time doesn't give us a reason to become profitable but it was our strategies, market analysis, trading pairs, etc.

A trader can choose when to trade but what is important is that we hit our target. If we can do more and free during the day, then do it.
Don't bother to trade if you are busy and have many distractions as it only leads you to the wrong sell/buy order, and one more thing, don't check the time but the market chart.

366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling addiction lead to domestic violence? on: February 08, 2024, 09:58:07 PM
Gambling addiction is something quite different from domestic violence, only an irresponsible man will get himself into such menace of engaging into domestic violence, gambling addiction is just a pattern of someone gambling more often than not, domestic violence has to do with an individual person characters, temperament and behavioral attitude in tolerating each other, you're being addicted doesn't means you have bad manners to have engage in domestic violence, it may also be the other way round as the case may be.
Addiction is not good in general. A person who is in this situation can't think about what is right and what is wrong. It was a mental illness that changed everything in their life, decision-making, attitude, etc.

It was hard to imagine which is why we should not let that situation happen to us. We need to control gambling habits as much as possible; must stick to being a responsible gambler. It is not hard to do that if we consider gambling as just for fun, not a source of income because that will affect our thinking as well. If we lose, just forget it rather than chase them as it only leads to overspending.
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum will still be my choice this year. on: February 08, 2024, 02:32:07 PM

Do you think I make a good choice this year or I should include BNB so that if one is delaying me in the market, I can try the other one to achieve what I want .
ETH is quite satisfying but some altcoins do good as well like BNB, Matic, etc.
You can buy more coins at your preferred but I would say you may focus more on the ETH than others. Allocating 60% to ETH and 40% to others is a fair decision for me. At least if ever I lose on other altcoins, I already secured more than half of my capital which means that it is still possible that I can recover losses.

Anyway, choosing ETH alone is definitely a good choice and many investors did this. Besides, ETH is the most promising altcoin in the market, with less risk and surely a profitable investment.
368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Beterbiev vs. Bivol - Undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship on: February 08, 2024, 12:42:52 PM

Politics has to be set aside, this fight is not for the boxers but for the fans to witness a real entertainment, and they are professional, they are paid to do the job.

I thought back then that there would be a ban on Russian fighters during the war, but here we have proven that sports should have nothing to do with politics in war, and peace sports should be allowed to move on, It is good that the fight will be held in Saudi Arabia it's a neutral ground as Beterbiev is currently residing in Montreal making him the favorites by the crowd if the fight is to be held in Las Vegas.

Boxing sports is an entertainment, it's not wise to put some politics on this sport as it's about making money. Banning a country for this sport might signal something bad as it's like bullying a country or might be challenging for a war, they don't want that, they want a peaceful business and wants to run it smoothly.

Quote
I hope there will be no delay in the fight just like what happened to the Fury - Usyk fight, Beterbiev has a history of delays it happened in his bout against Callum Smith because of his dental surgery, I hope none of this will happen here and the June 1 schedule match will happen.

I think both boxers does not want drama, they just want to fight and declared to be the best in their division. This should be fun, and a lot of money are stakes in this fight, so they can't afford to postpone it worst cancel it. The venue is set, people are expecting it, this should happen.
369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 08, 2024, 11:28:49 AM
Alright, here we go for every finals that we see. Fans will say that this is scripted and it's part of the plan to prolong the championships to max out the games up to game 7.

Reason for suspension; read the article.
Automatic one-game suspension keeps SMB's Jericho Cruz out of Game 3
Quote
JERICHO Cruz was conspicuously missing from Game Three of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Wednesday on the court and even on the bench.

Why, you might ask?

Well, the San Miguel guard sat out the contest because of a one-game suspension that was automatically handed to him by the league.

READ Marcial warns Abueva of another indefinite ban
Under league rules, a player is sanctioned with an automatic one-game suspension once he accumulated a total of five technical fouls during a conference.

Cruz was called for the technical foul in Game Two after taunting Calvin Abueva at the 1:49-mark of the third quarter of Game Two which the Beermen won, 109-85, to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven title series.
I didn't know about this rule. So if a player have maxed out 5 technical fouls for the entire season or conference then he's eligible for that. What a rule but I guess this will teach most of the players to be careful for every fouls that they do because it becomes crucial at the finals if ever they become one of the teams there. It was just fun to see Jericho did returned the favor to Calvin on game 2 but his presence was important on game 3 and that's one reason they lose.

There was a similar rule in the NBA too, but it's 16 technical fouls before a player gets suspended for one game without pay. It make sense that it's more than the PBA since the NBA has more games to be played compared to the PBA. I think Cruz didn't count his technical fouls, if they were behind, that could be a big blow on them.

In today's NBA, a player who receives 16 technical fouls in a season is suspended for one game without pay. For every two additional technical fouls, he receives a subsequent one-game suspension.

I know it exist in the NBA but didn't know PBA have adopted this rule too.

Yeah, I know that rule do exist in the NBA and it's Draymond that is mostly the recipient for this game suspension as almost in every game he has a tecnical foul/s. What I'm surprised of is that Jericho got suspended first before Calvin, I thought Calvin have more technical fouls since he is known for his antics in the game. However, it's good for Magnolia that it happened as they were able to win game 3, otherwise, the series would not be interesting to watch anymore.
370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A student investing in bitcoin? on: February 08, 2024, 01:48:05 AM
Should I invest my savings in Bitcoin?

It is not a question if I should invest but the question is "if you really want to take risks"?
A lot of people have heard about Bitcoin from their friends and they invest because they saw their friends earning money from it but guess what, not all of them become successful, some of them suffered disappointments.

I would say OP that you have to deeply think about it --it is profitable indeed but the risk is also high. If you think this investment is good for you, then start it without a doubt. It only needs trust and patience, everything will be fine and profitable in the long run.
371  Economy / Economics / Re: Save while young better than wait on: February 07, 2024, 09:53:14 PM
At my age I realize that I should have thought about saving much earlier. If I had started saving at a young age, my life would have been a lot easier. Now in my opinion every person should learn to save or invest from childhood to survive against poverty in old age.
Many people have come to such thinking, that it is always too late to realize. However, the chances remain, we can still do it as long as we are certain of our plan. Too late to realize which is why we don't have to waste our time now and grab the opportunity we see in the crypto market.

Quote
To eradicate the poverty of the people of every country of the world, every government should make the people of their country interested in investing and saving along with education from childhood.
It is the government's responsibility but we should not rely on them instead, we make our way how to improve our living, and simply savings help a lot. But it never stops there, we also encourage ourselves to grow and multiply our money by starting a business. Financial freedom will come from having a passive income and having a business could make it possible.
372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever introduced an elder gambler to online betting? on: February 07, 2024, 09:23:24 PM
It was not a good idea for me, I'd rather stop them rather push them into it.
If I am going to introduce online gambling, it could be those who are the same age as me. We are supposed not to do that with the elderly as we are making them more exposed to gambling rather than enjoying life. The more they spend time on gambling, the more possibility they fall into addiction which I don't want to happen. It could be better for them to stay in casinos at least, there is a gap of time in gambling, and at least they could take some break.

373  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Learning comes before earning on: February 07, 2024, 01:24:15 PM
We should not need to be confused that knowledge is very important and a must before investing, trading, or whatever it is. While profit/earnings is the outcome of it.

In fact, old investors and traders continue learning because they want to improve their knowledge and skills as this will also increase their chances of earning. It is very clear to us that what makes us more profitable is that we know what we are doing, we have direction and acted according to our plan and target. That is why it was impossible to reach our goal if knew nothing. And newbies should know what they have to do first prior to starting their crypto journey
374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Must you lose before you gain in Bitcoin investment? on: February 07, 2024, 10:01:40 AM
It is not a must to lose before we gain but it is about learning first before we gain, and losing is not really what happens earlier but can be possible. We can avoid losing if we have an idea of what is Bitcoin investment is all about but too unfortunate that many are rushing and taking risks without knowledge. Of course, not a surprise this would happen to them.

That is why losing is not an excuse because we are new, we can do research prior to it instead. There is always a way to save our funds but many are on their emotions leading to wrong decisions.
375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 07, 2024, 08:52:14 AM

We can't betray ourselves here. Let's forget that conspiracy theory for a while, we know who the better team is, let's stick to them.
In fact, I didn't only took the -3.5 but the 11+ win also with x3.72 odds.

Of course, that would not be fun if you are betting on the other side but your heart is on SMB. I just checked the line up and I can see that it has moved up to -4 now. I think it's still a go and I see some value because of the SMB's dominant performance on the last game.

I hope SMB squad will play harder to avenge what Abueva did to their coach and send a message that it's not good to mock a person with disability. I'm seeing that 3 point shooters are raining again this game, that on the side of SMB of course since Magnolia has no answer and aren't confident to shoot outside anymore.
376  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: February 06, 2024, 10:12:52 PM
I have seen tipsters that are consistently profitable.

Most experts who claim that they know the game inside out and have certainty in the result of each game is lying to you. Most profitable tipsters that I've come across do not proclaim this, but rather place bets on +EV propositions that over time accumulate to a profit of many betting units.

That said, don't go out there and blindly pay for a tipping service. Make sure that they have a verifiable edge and track record first.
I gamble a lot but when it comes to people who show off their wins I don't usually believe them because their wins don't look real to me even as much as I gamble I still lose but just that as a gambler I don't want to give up despite the losing but them they will keep showing slips of wins and am sure that most of those things are edited slips just to get people to there channels. and if you gamble well you will know that the majority of those guys are fraudsters nothing they will tell me. because how will someone be constantly winning every time a game is played? it is not possible no matter how good you are while you are predicting. and that is how a lot of people are deceived into even paying people to get predictions, so for does of us who gamble a lot we need to be smart. I know how desperate people are because they want to win, understanding the nature of what you going to do should be the first thing you think about so that you don't complain.
You don't because that was not the real experience you have. Indeed, some gamblers are used to manipulating others and think that gambling makes them rich by showing a lot of money which is not their real winnings. We've seen this on YouTube, even not a gambler showing this to the public, and innocent people got into it. If we analyze carefully, if these experts say that their prediction is right and working, they are not multibillionaires but they are not. If that is true, we were never supposed to see them live in order to hide their identity and for security reasons but they did.
377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jerwin Ancajas vs Takuma Inoue - February 24 on: February 06, 2024, 12:50:47 PM
So far here are the results of the voting:

Majority are seeing that Jerwin can win this fight via decision, at least half of those who voted. Although I believed that Jerwin is more heavy handed by the Japanese and there are chances that the fight could end up by a knockout.
I think majority of the voters are Filipino, so there's some kind of biasness too. hehe.
But of course, Ancajas isn't jut a left over fighter, he was once a champion, lose his belt, and now is trying to be a champion again.
Although this might be a little hard since it's in Japan, but since Inoue isn't a KO artist, I'm seeing that Ancajas has a decent chance of winning here.

But we will see, we are days closer to the fight itself and everyone is very excited and we do hope that this will turn out to be a great match up.
Only fight this month that I'm looking forward to watch, and I'm cheering and betting for Ancajas to win.
I would expect a great match up.

Yeah, we Pinoys are going to support Ancajas here, no matter what the odds are, we are going to vote for him and wish him the best that he can bring back another championship in our country since we don't have any as far as I know. And he has all the tools in my opinion to pull an upset against Inoue. And so I agree that that he has a good to decent chance in winning, Ancajas is known to have power, I think homecourt advantage doesn't matter in boxing, although judges could be biased, but I think not one of them will be Japanese. Yes, just a couple of weeks from now and maybe Jerwin is in training full swing and hopefully there's no more delay like no accident going to happen in sparring (like what happen to Fury).

This fight was already delayed, it will not be delayed again. There was no problem with Ancajas camp but the problem was on Inoue's since he was injured in the training and that resulted to the postponement of the fight which is rescheduled this February 24 this year.

As reported by one of posters here, the odds was 3:1 in favor of Inoue. So betting Ancajas would give double return on our money.

We aren't just bias, we also believe that Ancajas are just underrated and he can beat Inoue. Because if we only are bias without analyzing the fight, we could have bet on Tapales when he face the beast Inoue, Takuma's brother.
378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 06, 2024, 11:43:14 AM
The verdict has came out.

No suspension for him but he was fined with a significant amount of 100k pesos.

Abueva fined P100,000 for mocking Gallent, spared suspension

I read some comments on facebook regarding this matter, it seems like people aren't happy with the amount of penalty, they want Calvin to get suspended, and some even worst as they want a permanent ban.

That's just fair I think. Well, we have different opinion but what the league has decided is already final, we have to respect it. Maybe they give Magnolia a chance too because losing Calvin is not gonna help Magnolia, he was one of the players that are bringing some energy on the floor, his hassle is very useful especially if it's a close game (which they haven't achieve yet).

This penalty is necessary but I'm not sure if Calvin will learn his lessons from this. Php 100k is big but for them making more than 100k per month ( I believe) is just not a big loss.
379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less than 80 days until the 4th Ever #Bitcoin Halving on: February 06, 2024, 06:28:49 AM
There is a huge expectation of halving, people are indeed having some gasp and history recall which makes them think this would be the beginning of another bull season. Glad we are optimistic but the question is if we fill our bag already or just still waiting after the halving.

Well, the impact of halving is quite remarkable, the increase in prices is really what we see. But, based on the previous ATH, it never comes right after halving, it takes several months to see results. Maybe I was wrong but I was expecting to see the new ATH next year, exactly following the 4-years cycle in the history of the market.
380  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: February 06, 2024, 02:00:39 AM
I can't accept that gambling has health benefits but its overall harmfulness and imbalance in society. A gambler can never be socially perfect as there is a possibility for him to create turmoil in a family and commit various social crimes and misdeeds. A family never expects anything good from a gambler but always he starts causing financial disaster to the family as well as relationships.
Well, you have some point but you are wrong. Because if you are right, can we imagine what will happen to these millions of gamblers around the world? Gambling is not as bad as you think, only when you are heavily addicted to it. I was a gambler, I don't have any health issues or misunderstandings with my friends, relatives, and family - our relationships are good.

So my friend, don't generalize gamblers. Some have suffered negative results but some also are enjoying life as a gambler. Because as long as you are doing this for fun, there is no problem but if you consider this as an earning tool, that is a different story.
