Awesome Miner Development Version 3.2.1 (Preview of 3.3 - Not for production use)

Important: The Remote Agent must also be upgraded.

Development Previews can be enabled from the Options dialog, General section. Then Menu -> Check for updates.

The main idea of the new version is to be much more flexible in configuration of algorithms, pools and mining software. You should be able to add any number of additional algorithms, add new pools (like zpool and more) for these algorithms, and then configure the mining software to use the new algorithms.

The screenshot belows shows how you can customize ccminer. If you add your own algorithm, it will show up in the list and you will be able to specify the command line argument that ccminer would expect for this algorithm.




The configuration of Online Services, where you can customize the existing and also add new Nicehash/Zpool/MPH pools on your own. If a new algorithm is supported on Zpool, just add it in the Algorithms section first, then go in here and add it for Zpool.



The general concept is to have less hardcoded setting in Awesome Miner, and make them configurable as illustrated below. This gives the power users more flexibility and a better understanding of what's going on.

I think you need to compare if there are any differences in the command line that is used to start the mining software. If the software is already running, you will find this if you click the View Details button.

The Generic Miner concept is currently not supported for Profit switching. A Generic Miner is a miner where you need to specify every single command line option yourself, because Awesome Miner doesn't even know what the parmeters should look like for setting the pool and so on. In your case it might work better if you use Ccminer as the mining software.

I'm currently doing implementation in this area, so there will be improvements and more flexibility here soon.

The main configuration file is ConfigData.xml located in %appdata%\AwesomeMiner folder. In this folder you also have two backup files, ConfigData.xml.tmp and ConfigData.xml.bck. The idea is that if a file becomes corrupt, Awesome Miner will still be able to recover your settings using the other files.

What you can do is to send me all your configuration files and also the log file (from toolbar: Tools -> Log File). With this information I might be able to tell what happend and maybe even recover your settings.

It's very uncommon that you get multiple corrupt files on disk, which is why in almost all crashing scenarios, Awesome Miner can recover.

This is related to the current behavior of triggers, that they are reset when the settings are saved (Options dialog closed). For this particular trigger type in combination with your actions, I agree that it gives a behavior that isn't good.

A solution can be to add a few triggers based on current time instead, for example triggers for 01:00, 07:00, 13:00, 19:00.

I could change the lower limit of the switching a bit, but keep in mind that you may waste a lot of your hashes if you switch that frequently. First of all it may take a few seconds for you mining software to make the change and some pools may favor miners that works for longer period of times.

I'm currently working on some changes to how algorithms, pool services like nicehash/zpool/MPH and mining software are configured. This will allow you to add any new zpool algorithm, with statistics and profit switching support without waiting for a new version of Awesome Miner.

Edit: I did read your full PM on this topic, so I fully understand that zpool do allow faster switching than what you can configure today.

The purpose of the Remote Agent is to give the same features as if you run Awesome Miner on a local computer. What are the features you are missing?

Depending on which mining software being used (Claymore, Sgminer, ...), there can be a bit different statistics and operations available, but that is not related to if you run a Remote Agent or not.

It's recommended to run on a separate computer. Computers used for mining isn't considered to be the most stable.

The resources required will depend on how many miners you want to manage and monitor. If you have less than 100 miners, you can run Awesome Miner on almost any computer.

The first step is to make sure that the EWBF miner has been started with API enabled. This is required for application like Awesome Miner in order to connect.
EWBF command line to enable API:
--api 0.0.0.0:42000

Are you running your EWBF miner as a Managed Miner, where you start and contorl all the mining from Awesome Miner? Or do you just want to connect to an already running EWBF miner process that you already started yourself?

At the moment this is not displayed separately. The Ethereum profit information on the Dashboard includes the profit from any secondary coin (Decred, LBRY, ...), but it's not listed separately. So from a profit point of view, the numbers are correct on the Dashboard, it's just that it's not split up in two separate items.

This miner doesn't provide any API, so you will not get mining statistics from it. However, you can still add it to Awesome Miner if you create a Managed Miner and select software as "Generic Miner". Here you can point to any mining software you downloaded, and Awesome Miner will control the mining process.

In the Options dialog you have the feature to detect miners with Restricted access and automatically try to reconfigure and reboot them. This will of course only work if the configuration set is correct in terms of IP addresses and so on. I would actually recommend you to disable this feature from the Options dialog, and manually figure this out first.

You can select one or many Antminers in the main window (Miners tab) of Awesome Miner. From the toolbar: Tools -> Antminer -> Configure API access, you can define IP rules. See:

It's important to note that the IP address you should define rules for is for your computer/network where Awesome Miner is running, so the first step is to figure out the IP address range you want the Antminer to allow connections from.

In this scenario you need to modify the cards one by one, if you want to change the power limit while keeping other GPU settings different. It's a good point you bring up here so I think this could be a scenario I should add support for in the future.

The number of miners you can add is controlled by the license. If you have a license for 10 miners you can have up to 10 ASIC miners (Antminer S9 for example).

It looks like something is missing in the pool configuration, and the screenshots doesn't give a complete view of what the configuration looks like, for example how Wallet address is filled in.

Can you please use the Diagnostics button in the toolbar to get full information about what command line that Awesome Miner uses to launch the Claymore miner. I think this will indicate what is missing in the configuration.

You can add a Managed Miner and specify software as "Generic miner". Then you simply point to the path where your custom software is located.

From the screenshot it looks like you have entered worker name information for your suprnova pool, which isn't correct for this specific pool.

Select the pool and click Edit to open the Properties dialog. In this dialog you need to configure the pool according to how this specific pool wants the configuration, and in the case of suprnova you need to put your "username.workeridentifier" in the Wallet address field and leave the Worker name field empty.

puwaha already gave some answers, but I will add my view on some of these items as well. I also would like to start by saying that I appreciate this kind of feedback - it helps me to prioritize the items I have on the very long todo-lists. Some of the points you make are already items high on my todo-list or already supported.

Many coin explorers are different, so if you don't have any consistent way of getting block size, difficulty, exchange rate and so on, it's difficult for Awesome Miner to support custom coins out of the box. If they are listed on WhatToMine or Coinwarz, Awesome Miner will get everything for you - and that's not hardcoded at all.

What some of the power users do is they develop custom C# scripts inside Awesome Miner, where they connect to different sources online (block explorers, exchanges, ...) to get coin statistics, then using the API's to set coin statistics for their custom coins in Awesome Miner. This is super flexible and can support many new and strange coins.

The C# scripting feature is for sure a feature only for the most advanced users, but it gives you very much flexibility:

You can change the mining software from Auto download to point to some custom version of ccminer you downloaded yourself. Then Awesome Miner will launch your version of ccminer instead. Using the Upload Software feature, you can also deploy this custom software to all your remote computers:

There is also a mining software typ "Generic miner" that can point to any exe-file. Awesome Miner will simply launch this miner and manage the process, but you will not have any mining statistics available, as this feature is intended to be used with miners without an API.

Genoil Ethminer is an example of a miner you can add as a Generic miner. Last time I checked that mining software didn't have any API, so running it as a Generic miner adds no additional limitations.

On a Generic miner you have full control of the command line of the miner and Awesome Miner will not add anything for you. For all other mining software, you can add your own command line (both on a Managed Miner, and on a single pool) that will append (and replace) what Awesome Miner had as default for you.

I'm also planning to add a new concept that might be called "Managed Software", where you will be able to define that you want your custom mining software with full control over the algorithms and command line, but still be able to mark it to be API-compatible with for example ccminer. As part of this concept, I will also integrate the Upload software feature inside the "Managed Software", so if you change the mining software in the folder on your Awesome Miner computer, it will automatically be pushed to all remote computers.

I think you need to be a bit more specific what additional flexibility you want here. You can add your own rules, where you have many triggers and actions to choose from. If you don't find a trigger and action that do what you want, you can always write your own C# script to fully customize the behavior.

The C# scripting feature supports everything you need to write your own profit switching feature on top of the Awesome Miner scripting API - that's how powerful it is.

I'm of course open to suggestions what kind of features the built-in trigger and actions should expose, because you are correct that they don't support everything.

I agree and this is what I'm aiming for. The reason why some of these items are not available or configurable already is simply because I have not yet had time to implement them. Also, as I explained above, already today you have some power features that already can address some of your points above.

There is also a certain complexity to add new configuration options. It needs to be backward compatble - if I add more mining software or algorithms to Awesome Miner, everyone should get them. There needs to be a good way of both configuring the built-in defaults, possible to add your own and on top of that, get the new built-in default with a new version without overriding your custom configuration. On top of this, the usability needs to be good for both basic users and power users, and scale well if you have 500 miners but still not be too complex if you only have 2. This is the reason why adding more configuration and flexibility is a delicate effort that requires a lot of analysis.
