From the readme, I cannot find the exact way to set up the pool.

Is there a step by step guide to integrate the Coin daemon(s), Node.js v0.10+, Redis key-value store v2.6+ and libssl in Windows?

Run a virtual machine?

this is really pissing me off now with the execoin-qt wallet, trying to move my coins over to the electrum wallet and i have to do 1000 transfer amount for a few time and then it crap out with transaction too large, drop down to 900 and got the transaction too large and now at 800 still transaction too large.

How do hell do people transfer coins between wallet?

Pay a transaction fee?
3923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - First Scrypt N | First Stealth Address - Privacy without mixer on: July 30, 2014, 10:16:34 PM
Possibly an exchange but I'm not sure Mintpal has the volume to support that many VTC. Unless a TONNE of people are leaving their coins on the exchange and not moving them. Seems a risky business. I would hope people with a lot of coins keep them in cold storage until they need them.

The reason I say that is that their volume is so low in trade on any given day.

Yeah, maybe it has something to with Moolah buying Mintpal. I think Moolah used to be fairly big supporter of vtc, maybe he still is and just not public about it so much like doge...
3924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - First Scrypt N | First Stealth Address - Privacy without mixer on: July 30, 2014, 08:23:58 PM
how do you know that this is their address, I did not find information

Look at the transaction history of that address. Plenty of transactions with each tx is a combine of many small inputs from many addresses. Typical thing for an address of exchange, those inputs must be deposit addresses of users.

Still kind of unusual that single exchange would be holding > 20% of all coins in existence, no?

Are there other systems that accomplish the same level of anonymity and decentralization?
No. Your other option is zero-knowledge proofs, which brings its own host of problems.

What exactly are zero-knowledge proofs?

If I had to take a guess, I'd wager it's the basis for zerocash.

Since when do we have a superb designer in the community and don't know about that, Andy?  Embarrassed It would be totally wasted if he goes to Cloakcoin's side. Andy please kindly asking him into the GUI team.  Wink

Thanks Aizen

Just to announce - crz is joining the Talkcoin team to help improve the user experience on the beta.

This means we now have Talkcoin dev, djm34, AizenSou and crz on the dev team.

Vert is exactly trying to build itself for the "long game", and thats why its looking at securing its foundations now, for the future. If you are just interested in 3 months sprints ina coin, then do me, and yourself a favor and sell your remainder vert, and invest in another coin.

The "long game" does not begin with a 95% death spiral... do you know how CRAZY you sound.

What does it start with then? Unless you can back up a statement it really holds no value. VTC may crash and burn but I'm betting against that. Add something constructive.

Between July and December 2011 bitcoin went from $31 to $2. Not quite, but just about 95%.
3932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - First Scrypt N | First Stealth Address - Privacy without mixer on: July 28, 2014, 12:56:45 PM

You have NO IDEA about the strategy that the devs used since the inception and why we are here. The whole algo change debate came up recently, so stop saying that this was planned and the strategy. that is outright false. Vert was on a downward spiral before this even came up as an option. They are trying to think outside the box to stop the leaks.

What do you think about the 3-day additional maturation period that is being adopted as a result of the recent poll? The strategy/logic being employed there escapes me.

It's not being adopted (yet). There was a lot of heated discussion about how the results were interpreted, and course of action decided was re-vote: first to test if any change should be made, then if yes, to vote on what change. Poll is open for six more days or so, go vote vote vote!

https://vertvote.com/

(p.s. I think no changes should be made, given the options on the table)

You guys try unplugging your gridseeds for a few seconds, then replugging them? I did that and it fixed my rejects

yea, tried unplugging, plugging, reinstalling driver, restarting, using cpuminer instead of cgminer, couldn't get em to work.

On cpuminer it would see devices and start it up, then immediately say thread terminated. On cgminer it would just hang at launch and either say no device detected, or failed to get usb - device in use, or something. I'll mess with it some more tomorrow probably, maybe just try and connect to PiMP box.

Make sure it's the only device plugged into the USB slots (I have two on the back of my computer and it won't see it if I have an antminer plugged in too). Also, are you using the cgminer that's specifically for gridseed? You probably are, but I'm just checking lol

yea, issue possibly arising from having antminers on same comp. Got it working by installing different driver (Orb Gridseed inf?) and then using new(ish) bfgminer. Now mining sha and scrypt on birdonwheels5's p2pool. Fuckyea.

Still mining skein at myrskein.suprnova.cc, but maybe I'll try to switch over to qubit or maybe you'll get skein p2pool up soon Smiley
3934  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE ANN][LEBIX] First CryptoNote Proof of stake Coin on: July 28, 2014, 07:27:57 AM
Guys, stop with the unfair Nxt distribution myth. Please stop.
You can't make a coin for the sole purpose of having a fair distribution.
Lebix distribution has nothing fair.
The first who setup a bot will get 95% of coins.
i think you pointed out the main thing...

There is also a problem.
Building a real anon PoS is nearly impossible. Some exist but have huge flaws that make them unusable.

This could be just a fishing scam to get email/username/password of users. Most people use the same data everywhere.

I'd like to think that most people here are wise enough to use a throwaway email/pw for stuff like this...meh, who am I kidding? Probably just myself.
3935  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: monero vs BBR ? on: July 28, 2014, 04:39:15 AM

  • Can send/receive to aliases

I thought this was a neat feature too, until I found out that you have to solo a block in order to get an alias, which means that the guy with the personal GPU miner (he who shall not be named Tongue ) could just add a new alias every other minute and "squat" on all the good ones.

The other thing I don't like about BBR is that the dev/creator gets 1% of every block mined. It's like not a premine, but ongoingmine, or something...

Alright guys, I have the scrypt p2pool up and running, and I'm currently hashing on it.

The address is birdspool.no-ip.org:5556

I also set up a hub for my nodes at http://birdspool.no-ip.org:5567/static/MyrNodeHub.html.

For more information... See the post I just wrote over on reddit at: http://www.reddit.com/r/myriadcoin/comments/2bw4ac/proud_to_announce_the_reopening_of_the_scrypt/

I'm very excited to be able to do this Tongue

Great! Gonna switch my two gridseeds over now.

Been mining here: http://myr.nut2pools.com/

and they play like a dinging sound everytime the pool finds a block, which is like every twenty minutes. Wtf? Who does that? Took me a while to figure out what was even doing it because the little speaker only shows up on chrome for like a second.

Thanks for getting p2pool up Smiley

were you getting tons of rejects on  myr.nut2pools.com?   all i got was rejects saying diff at 16

nah, it was working for me, but I seemed to have somehow fucked up the driver on the windows computer where I had them running and now can't mine anywhere  Angry

oh wells, gotta get to school, will fix it later...

Edit: They were released now. But I'm still curious about why they were locked? Is there anywhere I can read up on how the system works so I don't have to ask all these newbie questions here? Also does anyone know how long before a simple to use wallet will be out? This text input system really isn't easy for people like me..

This is easy to explain. There are not "coins" in your wallet, there are "outputs" corresponding to transactions you have received. These outputs can only be spent in their entirety. So if you have an output of 10 that you received and you use it to send 1, then a transaction of 9 is sent back to you as change. As with any transaction, this one coming back to you takes time to confirm. Until that time the wallet reports that 9 of your balance as locked.

Very nice explanation. thank you!

nice & smooth Smiley

Can somebody help me?

On Windows when I run talkcoin-qt.exe I can no longer pull the blockchain.  It was working up to a couple of weeks ago.

Now I get the following message at the top of my window:
Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct!  You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade.

I'm running version 4.8.4

I've tried adding some nodes I found in this thread but it didn't seem to help.
It's telling me it's processed 241919 of 305505 (estimated)
It's also showing 8 active connections to the network.

I'm not having any problems with any other coins.

Any help would be appreciated,
Carlo

v4.8.4 is the Qt version. You should be on v1.3.1 for Talkcoin.
