41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building a 600 CORES - Supercomputer to mine VeriumReserve on: November 29, 2017, 04:58:37 PM
It's not a good new! Because i have to buy 8 new psu!
Here's a first picture! But i don't like it now! Full pics and details when the new psu will come. I'm basically running everything with seven cores each, can't keep up Sad

I know but what I meant is that you are basically done, with all the wiring the flashing and everything and you basically need the power supplies to run this baby full throttle.

By the way did you try to rush with the current power supply configuration and downloading all cores to 1Ghz or a little bellow. is it possible, or is it to much work especially if you need to go trough them one SoC at a time
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best Low difficulty Altcoins to mine? on: November 29, 2017, 04:32:41 PM
Just wondering what altcoins to mine with low end hardware (No sha256/scrypt coins) that have low difficulties

Thanks, Connor

Also by the way while I'm here should I get a Gigabyte Radeon RX580 8gb or Gigabyte GTX 1060?

Try your luck with the new altcoins, there is always a rush at the beginning and if it becomes succusfull you might get a decent cut.

As for your second question, it depends on what you want to mine, the Nvidia cards are better with some altcoins while the AMD card is better with others, Nvidia cards are cheaper right now, but I personally would go with AMD, because their GPUs (the chip) are more complexe and have more functionalities baked in that doesn't get exploited right away and their brute computational power are higher so they tend to age much much better, it is called FineWine tehcnology .
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ARM processors with Mali Octacore - ignored by mining coders, why? on: November 29, 2017, 04:25:29 PM
Hi, sorry for my English. I live in a place where the Electric power is very expensive. Every activity is not profitable other than the trading. I noticed that Linux can be well configured to create clusters. Create cluster will increase the power of a mining station. If I create a cluster with very little credit card boards I could get mining power with a low cost. A very simple CPU as H5 (OrangePi) has 4 cores. And it is not ended: it has a hexa core Mali450 GPU! I suppouse that it should be good to try to mine with these cores. And it supports OpenCL and every core is a 64bit core. ARM processors can work very very well with ARMBIAN Distro!! It is fantastic! I can have a very BIG computer in only one credit card. It means that I can create a cluster with twenty micro PC. Why miners ingore this? It should be a miner software to get this usefull power. Please can anyone collaborate? Thanks.

There are two fundamental issues with those SoC, the first one is the market share, You see, every one or almost every one has a computer with X64-X86, PC components are available everywhere and can be adapted or scaled by almost anyone.
The other one is in terms of computational power even from a brute flops perspective these SoC are getting closer to the average CPU GPU, they still not there especially if you compare apples to apples.
So like you've mentioned before to get anything decent you need to build a proper cluster of those, but when you do that you you are eliminating the efficiency factor and it becomes quite expensive.

So to resume I feel like there is a huge potential with these chip, but they should be used to mine something that goes with their strengths and not go with a general mining machine, because you cannot beat something that is already available everywhere without having a clear advantage in anything (power consumption is not if the cost to build  a,d effort or the performance is not there )

I have bought bitcoins and be sent to an address what armory gave up. Now I see that I bought them online, but don't see them in armory. Armory is scanning.  I have just installed it. Takes that scanning than long?  Undecided

Every wallet need some time to sync, if you see that your wallet is still syncing give it to time, and you'll transaction will come up, if it's not the case and wallet is fully synced then you have an issue to check the address and contact the costumer support if you brought the bitcoin from an exchange to check with them what happened, also check the transaction on the blockchain, it will show if the bitcoin is already in your address
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wallets for altcoins on: November 28, 2017, 11:56:14 PM
What about blockchain.info ether wallet, I see people mentioning many other online wallets services, and none talking about blockchain.info, is there a reason in particular ?   fees for example ?

A bit busy! But i'll upload something in the next hours!
I've found out that my psu are not enough, and 5 miners don't receive enough power to mine!
I should buy 8x 5v 40A Sad

Great news, well with 70 of them it should be pretty representative ! looking forward for the pictureS and some numbers and results

48  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: (2FA) Two Factor Authentication on: November 28, 2017, 08:57:46 PM
How to install 2FA softwear in my phone?

2FA or two factor authentication is another layer of security added to your password, you can have it under different form, such as receiving a code that last about a min via SMS, a phone call email ect, or by using an app that synchronies with the website or app you want to have 2FA with and  usually this what most people use.

So to use this one you need to download an authenticator such as google authenticator from the playstore or the appstore, once downloaded you to do the website in question you activate the 2FA option it will ask you what option you prefer, choose the google one, and then you get a QR code that you need to scan with your phone, make sure to have a backup.
49  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Years Ago - Find Old Bitcoin on: November 28, 2017, 08:32:01 PM
Hey everyone,

I have a memory of getting a single free Bitcoin YEARS ago as a promotional thing for opening an account.

Does anyone remember anything of this nature, likely dating back to the very early years, maybe 2009/2010'ish?

Any idea as to whether it would still be available and how to access it?

Any insight appreciated Smiley

If you didn't transfer it to some kind of wallet (online or offline), then don't get your hope too high, Many early BTC website closed, or changed their ratio since then, so even if you manage to find I think your claim will result in a few satoshis at best.

Keep looking since the prize is worth the effort, but just keep in mind that there is a good chance you won't get paid sadly
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Multiple GPU's on: November 28, 2017, 08:25:52 PM
Hello guys,
I own AM3+ GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2 AMD 760G with mini gtx 1060 6gb.
Can i put rx 570 sapphire nitro + in that motherboard to mine ETH,while my gtx 1060 is used for ZEC mining or gaming?

Yes you can as long as there is no compatibility issues, You need the drivers for both brand, I suggest that you try the cards in PCI slots, one at time first and check if everything is working fine then start fiddling with both cards, once both cards are detected and functional you can start miners configuration part, you might find some compatibility issue, but start with simple software and move on. Are you on windows or linux distro ?
51  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can someone open my wallet by seeing the address on: November 27, 2017, 11:53:45 PM
Hello I'm newbie. I just curious if someone can open my wallet by known my address?

It's safe to post address like this one 172jHZ1o61FUKb2uo1xs231HdV43qBWaKf

Please tell me the risk by posting address

The answer as was mentioned previously is NO, that's your public address but please before going any further with bitcoin read the sticky thread in this section (second one and the others of course) it explains everything about wallet, public and private address, hot and cold storage, that way you won't do the mistake of giving up anything sensitive.
52  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why i can't find ID number on my profile on: November 27, 2017, 11:49:00 PM
pls i want to know whether until you are a member j.member before you can find ID number on ones profile, because https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile i discover that the number is missing?

Just click on any option on your profile page for example your trust or last threads created by this user or anything and it will appear (+ the section you've chosen) then you just need to copy your ID it's usually profile;u=xxxxxx just disregard the rest.

Hope this solves your problem

Hopefully this will not pollute the thread and if necessary I can delete this reply straight away or feel free to do so LoyceV.

But just wanted to confirm that I've received the payement for the week

Thank you LoyceV, keep up the good work
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building a 600 CORES - Supercomputer to mine VeriumReserve on: November 27, 2017, 12:12:19 AM
It's finished. I'l post a picture tomorrow  Grin

Thank you for the good work, I'm really looking forward for it, and Hopefully not A picture, but pictureS so we can get our nerdgasm

It is very amazing post and updates. Did you cluster all odroid into one? I was wondering clustering should save hassle in management, but wondering if it is possible to mine.

I believe it is possible to mine without any issues, since each SoC is an independent worker and doesn't rely on the other.
55  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud mining terabox.me on: November 26, 2017, 10:41:13 PM
I invest 0.37 BTC in terabox.me for cloud mining  please help me this site was scam or not scam

I'm sorry about your potential loss, but from what I've read on the forum they are a scam, but who knows, keep trying and you might get your money back.

Usually the ROI when it comes to cloud is no good unless you want to mine some new altcoin and you need the hashpower for the first blocks. You didn't try to get some hardware for the same some of money

56  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Trustable Exchanges as of Nov. 2017 on: November 26, 2017, 08:29:15 PM
They are not to be trusted, no exchanging should be trusted, don't you know that if they decide to do something like freezing your account and never give your coins back, they have their own legitimate reasons? what they are doing is not against the laws, governments are forcing every major exchanging services to do this. I wouldn't trust any of them if they haven't been in this forum with a dedicated thread. if you don't want to get caught, use small but trusted exchanges, by the time they grow big enough for regulators to notice it would be too late to stop them.

Of course no exchange should be trusted, heck if someone put their all or most of their bitcoins and left their FIAT on the exchange they are looking for trouble, I mean we learned the hard way with MTGox, but this comparison is for the sake of comparing the customer service and more or less a comparison of the legitimacy of the website, Kraken for example seems to be one of the most solid in this area in my opinion although the customer is degrading to the site becoming more and more popular

ubuntu minimal, i have just to wire them up tomorrow morning  Smiley

Alright, really looking up for tomorrow and hopefully we will get some results, also if you don't mind, can you try some CFD software later on or any numerical simulation software you might have ? for the sake of benchmarking

I can simply create a script to calculate the prime numbers from 0 to X, run on a single one, then run in parallel. For a fast test.
Time is running low, not only for this build, but also because in some days i'll not have much time to dedicate. The goal is getting this running "on is own".

 Smiley

Yes I understand, if you can at least run a linpack benchmark or geekbench if possible, and those mining numbers It would be fun to see how those SoCs campares to your average CPU, I might be inspired by your work and do something similar and smaller scale at first and scale up afterward
58  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to store bitcoin with safe? on: November 25, 2017, 11:48:24 PM
The safest way is cold storage, on a separate laptop/hard drive encrypted, or even paper note,  Trezor and Ledger are mentioned by others are really good. it all depends on the amount you have and how often you use it, a combination all above is the best thing you can do, + a Hot wallet with small amount transaction such as Bitcoin.info for example with a strong password obviously.

60  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Transfering Bitcoin > Paypal USD on: November 25, 2017, 11:32:46 PM
It's a one time thing, but since I live in Sweden I found some dealers who do this quickly with a local unregulated money sending app.

Yes, also for next time you can also do this with someone willing to meet you in a coffee shop a pub or any public place if you live in a big city, I've never had an issue doing such a thing, as long as it is for small amounts, and like I like said before people should take all the precaution needed as being anything from someone on the internet
