401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For monthly subscriptions, bitcoin may be more appropriate. on: February 02, 2017, 02:05:12 PM
Bitcoin subscription processes can be used where required. Invoice payments, club memberships etc. Bitcoin in place can be used efficiently.
In such places, there is no need to wait for payment to be approved immediately. This will not be a problem until the payment is approved.

As it is today, the banking industry does a decent job at monthly subscriptions. As far as I know if you have for example a gym membership, you don't have to do anything, the gym will take the money from your bank account automatically as soon as you have enough to pay the monthly membership, so I don't think the average joe is going to find any extra advantages with bitcoin in this area.
402  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1000$ rally tomorrow on: February 02, 2017, 01:16:29 PM
The price added 50$ since yesterday and now on YoBit the price is 980$. With such temps we are really close to 1000$ again. But I think nobody will surprise with this, cause of many users are expecting now to bitcoin hit the point of 2000$. And I am sure that we will see such price in this year.

it doesn't really matter as long as we can not maintain 1k it's pointless, to maitain a certain value you must increase over that value, to be perfectly stable at 1k you need to go to 2k and so on

so until we increase very high $1k is still considered not a rock solid point

That's true, but this time the price bump is happening normally without the influence of any other side factors. So in this case we can expect the price to sustain without much decrease in a short time period. So as the Heading we are getting closer to the $1000 rally which can happen anytime soon.

It's now clear that we are minutes away from $1000, we'll see what happens, $1000 is always a strong psychological selloff price, but at the same time, it can also be a strong liftoff point... it is a 50/50 bet. The shorters might get burned if we skyrocket.
403  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1000$ rally tomorrow on: February 02, 2017, 12:49:47 AM
988 US Dollars confirmed in Bitstamp as of less than 10 minutes ago. We are now heading towards $1000, it is a matter of mere hours, unless the sub $1000 resistance presents any problems, if not, then we are heading towards all time high again, and this time, the chinese can't crash the market again, they know that if they do that too often, it will show that their FUD statements are useless. They are increasingly weaker, bitcoin keeps climbing and just doesnt give a fuck.
404  Economy / Speculation / Re: it IS time for rise on: February 01, 2017, 05:29:14 PM
after all the accumulation for a couple of days when price was stable at $910-$918 and also the bottom of the recent correction we are on the move up.

i expect $1000 soon be broken again mostly because of the FOMO that happens after the initial rise, and eventually an stable price above $1000.

what do you think?

Edit: added chart

The price would have *never* crashed as hard as an natural correction, it crashed to low 750$'s because of the stupid ass Public Bank of China's statements, which caused panic sell. If that never happened, we would have had a smaller correction and we would be at 1,500+ already. But who cares, thanks to PBOC the smart people bought more cheap BTC and now we are inevitable going for a new ATH.
405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin.com almost forks the blockchain with buggy BU on: February 01, 2017, 03:51:50 PM
BU doesn't work. It sounds good in practice, "wow automatically adjusted blockchain? just what we need" but in practice it opens a can of worms. Too many possible attack vectors.

If it was as easy I would support a dynamic blocksize, I don't because there are big tradeoffs by doing so that I don't want to deal with. I want to be able to find my bitcoin on my wallet 20 years from now. BU does not give me that peace of mind. They will fuck up hard.

do you even understand bitcoin or consensus.

you do know funds are locked to private keys.
an orphan/reject cannot steal your funds.

but blockstreams future feature mimble wimble can.

its worth reading and learning

but start at the basics of consensus vs bilateral.
as thats what im seeing most r/bitcoin script readers and blocksteam king defenders are mainly not understanding. plus it doesnt take years to learn. so theres no excuse to not spend just 30 minutes learning about consensus(majority agreement stay together) vs bilateral(walk in separate direction splits)

What I do know is BU is shit and nobody that wants to keep holding their digital gold for +1 decade is going to want any of those developers taking the main role of the network, jeopardizing their digital gold holdings by replacing a strong solid bunker with plastic elastic walls.

407  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Rushes Over 950$ on: January 31, 2017, 04:53:29 PM
Bitcoin rushes over $950

Current prices show an increase of almost 4% in Bitcoin price in the last 24 hours of trading. With a high of $959.37, this is the highest price in the last 3 and a half weeks. At the time of writing this post the price was $956.78.

This increase is probably due to China’s biggest Bitcoin trading platforms putting a stop to trading BTC without any fees.

We just hit $962, looks like we are hours away from $1000 again, once we hit $1000 the doubts will be broken and it will take no time to hit a new ATH, so I can't wait. We may see a bit of wrestling in the $980 area, but this is bitcoin after all, we can be at $1000 within minutes.
408  Economy / Economics / Re: US Debt at $19,959,943,400,000 will $20 trillion make the news? on: January 31, 2017, 04:11:52 PM
The Federal reserve alone is a great movie to watch. With a good cartel as actors acting as a govt administration while the truth is it's a private company

Not only these owners control the Fed but by extension, they control the United States .... because the federal Reserve of New York fixed interest rates and control supply in currency, across the United States, the owners of the Central Bank is the real Director of the entire system. the shareholders of these banks, which are owners of the shares of the Federal Reserve of New York, are the people who controlled the destinies of the United States, since 1914″ political and economic

Then you have all those private banksters around the FED making all those big claims, like Jamie Damon telling people that they have to get used to a worse life. This is the same idiot that is saying bitcoin will never work and will die anytime a government tries to ban it. Those banksters need to get put to jail immediately if not something worse. I cant all those fucking elitist cunts. They need to be beaten the fuck out.
409  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price climbing fast again on: January 31, 2017, 02:16:22 PM
Allthough the price increase has been not that important (30/35$ or 3-3.5 %) it is significant for the further evolution of the price, in my opinion.

The maximum of the last couple of weeks was around $935-940 depending on the exchange, and this mark seems to have been broken now. Higher highs indicate a continuation of the bullish trend. And the price didn't instantly dip again below 940, so we can describe it at least as "somewhat sustainable".

My prediction is that we will at least see a "try" to break the psychologically important $1000 mark again. However, I'm not sure if this will happen. There is too much fundamental uncertainty now because of the blocksize debate. For now, I don't see a new ATH in the making. It may be best for the long term evolution to stabilize between 780 and 1160 - the current level looks ideal for it - and then climb again when the blocksize problem is solved.

If you look at the graph we have seen nothing but growth since the big infamous PBOC correction in January 13, we bottomed at 750$, since then it's been only uptrend. We are headed towards $1000. It will almost granted happen in February. Once we reach $1000 again the sky is the limit. Bitcoin will have proven to recover and to tend towards $1000 which will make doubters jump in.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Marketing company leaks thousands of credit card numbers on: January 31, 2017, 01:05:39 PM
Well , I don't see much of a difference because If we think logically , bitcoin users actually use their credit cards and their real information's on Coinbase , Circle and other services so they also can be leaked. But yes , If services only asked for bitcoin addresses instead of credit card numbers , these issues wouldn't exist .

then people should stop using them , personally I haven't used any site that requests documents
we all should start buying and selling p2p , the currency exchange section here can be really helpful if you don't want to use coinbase or circle

People like to speculate in the markets, so we need exchanges. p2p marketplaces aren't useful for speculation, so people will always use poloniex or whatever else is available.

Until the day we have a decentralized poloniex type exchange we will never get rid of centralized points of failure like the current exchanges.
411  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't fall for the chinese scammers trying to make you panic sell on: January 30, 2017, 07:10:55 PM
The chinese are using the PBOC as an excuse to crush the price and short and use all the panic sellers on their advantage.

How do we stop them and fuck them up? easy, don't panic sell when they release more PBOC messages. If they see that they can't manipulate the price with those PBOC messages,, they will try to stop shorting and they will start longing pushing the price up.
But, we are know that China is the most widely using of Bitcoin.
Very reasonable if the PBOC issued a message encouraging the
Chinese people to be more careful with business bitcoin.

The PBOC has by now issued statements for more than 3 times advicing about how bitcoin is dangerous because its very volately, and each time they have done so, the price has crashed. If they have learned something and actually want to help people from lossing money, they should keep their dumb mouths shut. If they continue, it's safe to assume they are doing insider trading and using those PBOC statements to get short positions then drop the statement and collect the money.

413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you remember the very first time you sent a Bitcoin transaction? on: January 29, 2017, 03:31:44 PM
Do you remember what it felt like the very first time you sent out a Bitcoin transaction to another address in your life? For some, it might have been an easy thing to do, especially for the geeks who were here when Bitcoin was born and it had not been valued and traded against fiat currency as following soon after, yet for others it can be very confusing to get things right.

Were you filled more with happiness, excitement or fear when you clicked that 'send' button? And in which year was it when that happened? Did it it turn out just fine, did your transaction arrive where intended?

I really don't, because when I got bitcoin qt, I had 0 BTC.

What's funny is, the first cryptocurrency I ever used was Dogecoin. I was lucky to mine like half a million DOGEs back in the day. I sold them for like 0.5 BTC, that was a great deal, I was lucky enough to get involved in the early days of mining that coin.

Since then, I didnt bother with mining.

So sending those DOGEs to the Cryptsy exchange was my first crypto transaction experience ever. I will always remember DOGE.
414  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is everything so silent these days around here? on: January 29, 2017, 03:14:42 PM
with all the volatility in price that we seen in the past couple of weeks it is good to see some silence, but is there any reason for it?

This is the speculation subforum, and right now bitcoin is pretty stable at around 920 USD, 10 dollars up 10 dollars down, somehow has found a nice stability along that range for some reason.

It's yet to be seen how high we are going to go next without the crazy chinese gamblers. It's good news tho, they can't crash the market as hard anymore and the price has stabilized near 1000, once we reach 1000 again its on.
415  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Stolen Bitfinex Coins on the Move on: January 29, 2017, 02:46:51 PM
I seriously wonder if these stolen coins will ever be recovered? I mean, it doesn't seem impossible with companies devoted to blockchain analysis.
Does anyone know of any examples of large Bitcoin thefts where the perpetrators were caught in the end?

Im afraid not enough analysis will ever be enough if they know what they are doing. All they need to do is run the coins through the Helix tumbler using Tor. Yes it will take a while since it has a limit of coins, so it will be made in small batches and some money will be lost due the fees, but they can end up cutting the trace of the coins. Unfortunately at that point it's clear the coins will never be ever recovered.
I agree, helix is a very powerful tumbler, i think it's the best tumbler in the world nowadays.

And we dont even have confidential transactions soon, and that mimble wimble thing.

Once all the privacy features are in full force, you can kiss goodbye, our stolen coins will never be given back to us ever again.

Im okay with that tho, privacy is indeed priceless.
416  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Post your SegWit questions here - open discussion - big week for Bitcoin! on: January 29, 2017, 01:33:22 PM
Also, can someone explain why the segwit softfork would need 95%. What's the point with that? Why not 75% or 65% even? Sry if this has been explained before.
Because the idea is to have an evolution of the existing system and not create an additional system.
But surely, looking at the mining community, that's a recipe for failure.

It's not a failure to keep a working system when there is no consensus (on how) to change that system.

Well, that's very zen of you. The question will soon have to be : working as what?

Already it's no good for micro tx's. Soon (if we're lucky) it won't be working in any meaningful way as digital cash. What's left then?

Some will say it will be the perfect digital gold then. To me it sounds more like a distributed decentralized pyramid scheme.

I hope your position isn't representative for the whole of core. I hope some in core see this as something more than an act of deep meditation.

ehh even satoshi advised against bitcoin unlimited, bitcoin xt, bitcoin classic etc.. hardfork attempts here in the forum, he predicted the ETH/ETC incident and knew this can happen with bitcoin if someone is stupid enough to hard fork and have bitcoin divided into two chains.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195.msg1611

417  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think the price of bitcoin will be in 2018 on: January 27, 2017, 11:15:49 PM
If the current blocksize war continues and Core stays with 1 MB blocks and without Segwit, we will have ... two Bitcoins in 2018!  Shocked

Bitcoin 1 (Core): $20-100
Bitcoin 2 (Unlimited, XT, btcfork or whatever): $20-200

That is pretty bearish, I know, although all bitcoin holders will have tokens in both chains. That's why I urge both parties to find a solution "in the middle" (let's say, 4 MB blocks for now, and an upgrade mechanism, and Segwit). In this case, I think the price can easily go over the old all-time-high to the $2000 region. But at this moment I consider it very unprobable.

Ehh it doesn't worth like that. You can't put Unlimited, XT, BTCfork or whatever in a single package. Those are separate blockchains.

Nobody is going to support anything but Bitcoin Core anyway. If it ever happens it's a good opportunity to double your bitcoins by dumping your Unlimited or whatever.
418  Economy / Speculation / Re: The only way to get rich is by riding the next big alt pump on: January 27, 2017, 10:52:34 PM
Just in case is familiar with ICN, asking about this again:

1) Do you need to hold the tokens on their platform-website (as safe as holding coins in exchanges...) or you can store them locally in some sort of wallet and still get dividends?

2) Are dividends paid in ICN or any other token?

3) How much ICN dividends do you get depending on your holdings? how do I calculate this?
419  Economy / Economics / Re: On what way would you know that your investing on the right business? on: January 27, 2017, 01:19:02 PM
simple: if the business is giving you good amount of profit!

if it is someone else's business, you research about their past and their business to see if it is good, and if they have a good plan and invest.

and if it is your own business then it is a bit different because your business idea is the most important part of it. and then the persistence and how much you work on it is the other important half.

Sometimes when you invest the price goes down... but if you are a long investor and trust the fundamentals of the asset, you should hold.

Warren Buffet is known for his investments going down for a while, then getting big profits in the long term.

Of course if you are a trader you want profits as fast as possible.
420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: As it turns out, Craig Wright actually is Satoshi! on: January 27, 2017, 12:31:56 PM
knowing barry silbert of coindesk also has ownership stake in blockstream im guessing it will be a story of how adam back(blockstream ceo) is "one of the 4" satoshi's
by talking about his 1997 hashcash.

it could also be looking at craig wrights first appearance in the bitcoin scene via a skype call at a different conference a couple years ago where nick szabo introduced craig wright.

thus saying its a 4 way team of
nick szabo,
craig wright,
adam back
and a mysterious 4th party.

sidenote.
adam back and szabo's concepts from years prior to bitcoin did inspire the single entity of satoshi. but adam back was not involved in bitcoins development, neither adam or nick the user behind the name satoshi,

nick did do something for bitcoin but again did not use the satoshi name.

in short its one mysterious single party who is satoshi..  and the other 3 are non-satoshi's, but just trying to get some notoriety for different reasons
.. well thats my 2 cents

There are way bigger chances thtat Adam Back or Nick Szabo are satoshi than Craig Wright, he just lacks the talent.

You don't want to fathom the possibility of Adam Back being either satoshi or part of the satoshi team because you are an anti blockstream troll, that's all. But at the end of the day, Adam Back is forever part of Bitcoin history as he is credited by satoshi in the whitepaper, and will always be a potential satoshi/part of satoshi team like it or not.

In any case, we can't know if satoshi was a single entity of a team of people. He used Tor, so it could have been 1 person or a couple. Any intelligent group of people wanting to pose as 1 person could have had the same person to talk in forums so there are no big differences in writing style to start the team rumors, so we can't know.
