401  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 10% off at Amazon on Black Friday when you pay with Bitcoin on: November 25, 2015, 05:39:31 PM
If you read the ad carefully, it's only 10% off for US customers. How about rest of the world? So much for Bitcoin Black Friday.  Embarrassed

We can't make this stuff up.
If you really read the ad carefully, you would have noticed this:
Quote
Not in the US?  Don’t worry, you can still use Name Your Discount to save 20-30% off Amazon, just by copying and pasting your wish list.
(EU people can at least use Amazon.co.uk)

I wouldn't take the 10% anyway, I would just wait 2 days for a 20% discount to fill and they ALWAYS do.

Remember,
It's about sharing

403  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp the new OKCOIN 2.0 volume manipulators. Fake Wall observer. on: October 11, 2015, 04:05:42 PM
Well, now that the CTFC is involved, I imagine exchanges are not going to want to attract undue attention, but it is a double edged sword regarding their "popularity" and continued existence.

Pressure needs to be placed on the exchanges, even though exchanges are responsible for most of this, I can imagine non exchange bots are also involved.
And I have a feeling that pressure is on the way...

Its About Sharing

Can the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission do anything about exchanges outside the US? It wouldn't be easy for it to prosecute a Chinese exchange, and the Chinese government seems happy to let their exchanges continue wash trading. The US has no extradition treaties with China. It seemed powerless to prosecute Mark Karples and he was based in Japan which is far more US friendly.

Funny situation but I believe the US government has certain "rights" over US Citizens that are outside the U.S.
Not sure where this goes but I can only imagine with these trade agreements spreading everywhere that we will continually lose more and more rights as individuals.

Just a heads up, I paid over 1k gbp in total to Small Claims Solicitors and was told each step of way I will get all my money back with the claim process. Even after Judgement and failed 3RD PARTY debt order, I DO NOT  see any money, and I am at an even bigger loss than first. I am told they have no assets either so I have no way of getting my money, and the solicitors cannot do anything now besides from send warning letters to alpha idiots.

MY ADVICE, do not get sucked in by Small claim solicitors, that is job of legal companies to make money.. i am at an even bigger loss now.

I am also thinking if fightalpha has some connection with small claim solicitors because they show success stories but I have not seen proof of any, and they provide step guides which i followed.. I think it is all false pretense and money making game.

Everybody is making money but us the customer is losing money, from all angles.

Why does no1 provide a free way to get money back, why must we put in more money and keep losing money.. it is a scam from all angles.

Jorge, you have a successful Judgement against Alpha-T. That's excellent! I'm sorry you haven't gotten your judgement money yet, but please don't give up! You're so close.

For proof, yes N349 was successful for a couple of our users, see here: http://fightalpha.net/index.php?topic=158.0
Of course, it's possible Alpha caught on to that and moved their money elsewhere. You have other options!!

If you paid through PayPal: one of our users presented PayPal legal with a copy of the Judgement letter, and Alpha refunded them back their money: http://fightalpha.net/index.php?topic=155.0

They definitely DO have assets in PayPal.. paypal has frozen them until they "deliver" their product.

Finally, another one of our users had a 15,000 GBP judgement and issued a "winding up" petition. Alpha paid up IN FULL within a week of issuing the petition. They don't want to get wound up, so that's another option you have to take.

Good luck! You've already won, just be smart don't give up.

I just contacted Pay Pal and they said since my deposit is from over 1 year ago they can't help me. Those funds appear to have been released to Alpha a while ago. She did say their account is suspended.
Maybe someone who gave the deposit in the last year got thier money back. Can you clarify please? And thanks for your continued help here.

IAS

Do you have a judgement letter from the Judge?

No I don't. I am in Germany and am not sure how to go about that via UK. I am in for 405 pounds.
Would a judgment change Pay Pal's "law", as they told me earlier funds (e.g. mine) were already released to Alpha way back when?

Thx in advance,
IAS

One of our members presented PayPal with a Judgement letter, and Alpha refunded them in full. I think they don't want to piss PayPal off because they have frozen their assets.

But for 405 pounds.. it's not worth the fight, honestly.

Sure, it is worth the fight if Paypal still had the money but they released it a long time ago to Alpha, so there is no money to return to me.
If it had been a more recent purchase then Paypal would still have it as frozen funds and would refund "my actual money", but that is not the case.
Do I understand you correctly though?
406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 30, 2015, 06:29:05 AM
To all Monero dumpers:

I don't get why you do it, but if you really need to unload a lot of coins onto the market, please don't dump them in large chunks, but use this "autosell-bot" instead. This will probably give you a better average price and it won't hurt the confidence in the currency.
It's easy to set up (I included a manual) and you even have some parameters you can change:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dknuob4n6k7apof/AADnpnwjsSxVN78_S5PgaizTa?dl=0

If you have any questions on how to set it up, please don't hesistate to contact me!

A large dump as just occurred IS DESIGNED to bring the price down. Anyone with that many shares of something knows how to get out of their position.
Looks like it was 40,000 shares or so.

I would remember this day (if it was the "big" dump) and see what happens over the next few weeks (even months).
Then you might have an idea who was behind the dump.  Wink

That was quite the humorous read I never expected in my inbox today.  This guy really doesn't know when to quit.  Do you think there is still a sizable sum he could possibly collect on if he drags it out further?

I think he is just trying to get a good defence going before he goes to prison.
409  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Suggestions on how to sell coins here and get them graded on: September 14, 2015, 07:33:29 PM
Check the Goods section here. Lots of Casascius coin traders.

Grading is generally by ANACS out of the USA. ref http://www.anacs.com. Cost is about 20usd each plus shipping both ways.

Yeah, I've been through the Goods section but didn't want to post questions there.
I saw ANACS mentioned but isn't there something similar in Europe? Must be some kind of other grading companies.

Thanks for the reply,
IAS

411  Economy / Marketplace / Suggestions on how to sell coins here and get them graded on: September 13, 2015, 08:26:02 PM
Hey, I have just a few Physical Casascius and Titans Bitcoins, and would rather have a little bit more BTC, so I figure I will sell them.
I am in Germany, anyone know of a place that does grading or is there a "community" so to speak, of a graders association? (Meaning, can I go to any grader who abides by standards.)
I'd like to get them in the sealed clear plastic boxes I see others using with a description and the grade on it.

Any idea on the cost to get one graded?

Any suggestions and such is appreciated,
IAS

To break the situation, we need new investor money, or a killer app which will absolutely clean the table...  Grin

Exactly. A Monero app for both Android and iOS devices would be a great idea. Imagine the numbers of users that would became interested in XMR. This is something I would like to see  Cheesy

Something tells me rpietila was sort of front leaking something. ;-)

Has anyone done an import (paper wallet) using the seed words into MyMonero?
I just tried, it asked me for the words, then it verified the 10 Monero fee, I accepted, then I came into an empty wallet.
How much time should it take to get the funds to appear in MyMonero?

Thx in advance,
IAS

have you ever recreated a wallet using the import from electrum seed on your home PC?

basically, the wallet has to refresh from blocktime 0, so right now mymonero's backend is scanning through the entirety of the blockchain looking for the inputs you own. This scanning can take A WHILE. I know my poor xeon core-architecture CPUs with a HDD can take HOURS to get me a syncd wallet.

So, it could be an hour, depending on how beefy the mymonero servers are. This amount of work is why it costs 10 xmr.

Heart rises back up into chest...

Thanks for the detailed explanation, much appreciated.

Did you perhaps generate your seed from MoneroAddress.org? If so, see -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg12206473#msg12206473

Yes I did. Oh man, I need to install simple wallet and download the whole blockchain?Huh
This is exactly why I used MoneroAddress.org, as I couldn't get the wallet running right on my mack.
I noticed the keys were different but didn't think much of it.

Offhand, in the future can I cash in the paper wallets on MyMonero? I don't need to do it right now. (Or when they have the GUI come out, I can wait a while)

Thanks for the info.

416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT has code which downloads your IP address to facilitate blacklisting on: August 19, 2015, 10:22:26 AM
Curious as I am not a coder:

How can we stop DDOS attacks on BTC without blacklisting the DDOS servers (or however this is actually being done)?

There must be a better way than putting in what I can only describe as 1984 Code.
417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT has code which downloads your IP address to facilitate blacklisting on: August 19, 2015, 10:02:04 AM
I'm not surprised there is hidden crap in the XT fork. A certain group is pushing hard to try and force it's adoption. The spam/stress tests was the beginning of it. It made people feel that blocks were full when they were just orchestrated that way.

And I wonder how far away we are from a Wiki Leaks "block", I mean "Extremely Low Priority - Oops, we lost that transaction" change?

If nothing else, this should have been talked about openly. Slipping it in there while the block size thing was going on, is just plain scary and too big to ignore.

I didn't trust Hearn when I first heard him as the NSA, I  mean Google, connection was too much to ignore. But I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Now, he is going to be watched (by everyone) closely.

My bet - going to be a rough year for BTC and I have a feeling big money will be buying it up (cheap).

Its about Sharing, not Blocking

Monero still needs more volume... Bytecoin has more

Fake volume created by bots trading with each other on scam exchanges doesn't count. Coinmarketcap wouldn't remove it (why might that be?), but I will

Bytecoin Markets
Volume (24h)

$21941
$2049
$1

Total: $2050

Yeah, after that article on the Bytcoin scam regarding the Crypto news site I started checking Market Cap sites.
Why is Monero not even listed on any of these?

http://www.cryptocoinrank.com/
http://cryptmarketcap.com/
http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/coins/info

Huh?

It is here though:

#15 http://coinmarketcap.com/

What is going on?

419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: August 09, 2015, 02:48:34 PM
Refresh my memory... How many times now has Litecoin been "officially dead"?

With no developers, no new content added, a dying community, and getting destroyed by ASIC's. Litecoin's 9 lives have run up.

I wonder though, does LTC really need any more features? The presence of ASICs is going to make it quite interesting. Will the network start to centralize? Will Wall St. Want a #2? Remember, even with BTC T 600 bucks app., we are VERY early adopters.

Basically, I'm saying we don't know. I still have 1/3 of my position in it as when we broke .02 I saved what profits I had and rolled 1/2 that into XMR. The alts are nice in this way as you can (still) move things around with no tax implications. Another reason LTC is nice to have.

I get the feeling that when we look back on this time, we are just going to laugh at some of what we thought.
We are still in the womb.

Wow, over a year later and LTC is still alive!

 Huh

Remind me to repost it again in 1 year Wink

LOL, just check the "show replies" every so often.

I really don'T think LTC will be dead when BTC takes off and Crypto is big. Too much hashing power.
I could be wrong, but we are still in the infancy of things.

Sadam - Thanks for the design goals. Looks great. Would be nice if they can break it down for the wallet, unless they want to surprise us.

GingeAle - I suggest others to look at your video. I already did the wallet generating and didn't check my steps. (Yeah, I'm now (not in the past) a great example of the type of person who doesn't want to get into the nitty gritty.) I'm trying to leave most of my IT background behind me. But from what I saw of your video - Excellent, great job.

Not trying to come across as a stickler, really just an average guy not wanting to jump through all the tech hoops. That said, we are all extremely early adopters and when the wallet is ready I think we still will be early adopters.
