1341  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner list of orders - October delivery on: October 17, 2013, 07:50:27 PM
ok news my #304x order Jupiter will arrive on Friday 10/18/13 instead of Monday as I thought
I just got the DHL tracking number and it says Brussels...I called 1-800-225-5345 and they said it will arrive tomorrow(shocked I was)
Friday 10/17/2013...it showed "shipped' on Wens....shipped on Thursday .be here Friday. So call this number ASAP when you get a
tracking number to be safe.

I also got a FULL REFUND  on my "processing' order of #526x just now ...customer service went way beyond the call of duty
and physically 'pulled' my unit out of production ..they could have taken the easy route and just said it was too late to change
but really went the extra mile ..I was very very impressed ..so that order is CANCELLED in the list you can take it out

So they are really chugging thru stuff so if you plan to pull a unit ...be quick.....they probably will get everything out in 2 or 3 days
from what I can tell

anyway.....again it would have  been easier to take the route of just telling me I was too late instead they stepped up and pulled
my after Oct 15th unit even thou they could have probably convinced me it was impossible to do so at that time as it was in processing
they did so without fan fare and went the extra mile ...what do they say ...see how people act when no one else is looking...well again
I was very impressed ....they really had to beat the clock on my part

so you want one of your units pulled they will do so ASAP but again it looks to me like stuff is gonna get done with this batch soon

I will be ordering from KNC again ...but that Saturn with current situation after Oct 15th ...was just a bit too much for me at this time
with this option to get a refund due to them stepping up and eating it on their missed Oct 15th deadline...again I'm very impressed!

my 2c worth
Searing

Pretty nice update and I hope you are right regarding 2 or 3 days. If so, considering all that has happened with KNC, they are looking like a force to be reckoned with going forward.

Thx,
IAS
1342  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner list of orders - October delivery on: October 17, 2013, 04:14:25 PM

All
As you are aware we have missed our own set deadline to ship the entire backlog of orders by October 15th
After yesterday’s factory output we can now say we are currently 3-5 days behind in the factory and the hosting setup at current speed which we are trying to increase in all ways possible.
We appreciate that while this is not good news for anyone who has not received a box we are only a few days away from completing our promise.
We will continue to post a news update on our site every day stating how many boxes have been shipped and how far behind the end of the queue we are.
Yesterday the factory produced and shipped 350 boxes and we expect the same number to be shipped per day over the next coming days.
Thanks
KnCMiner Team

Well, this is good news (mostly).
I find it hard to believe that they can catch up in 4 extra days (Say, by October 20th) with essentially some of July and all of Augusts miners. Pretty impressive if true. Ideas?

Does anyone know where there news is on orders shipped, I can't find it on their website? Thx

Got my tracking Number today, looks like DHL for us - Paid July 11th for people wondering.

Wooohooo

Nice that they started on July orders. But they are essentially a month behind? It is probably going to take them at least a week to get to August orders due to ship "by Oct 15" and with the difficulty level rising the way it is, that extra 10 days or so, is just going to kill things, not that the last difficulty already didn't.

But, here is hoping!

Personally I would love to see them have to deliver all the gen1 asics.
This just reads as another attempt to scrap the gen1 and rush into gen2 (which I assume they will be mining on to increase profit) so the cloud begins to lift over them and new bitcoin entrants can be sucked in.

I sure hope everyone keeps their gen1 asic's hashing.
Mainly for the good of the network but also so we see them begin to fail and bfl attempt to meet their "lifetime warranty".

The one reason I wanted my Jalapeno was to have it for sentimental reasons mostly. (Saying I paid 600 bucks for that thing with taxes, had to wait many months and it made me .5 BTC, etc.)  It was the customs tax I couldn't deal with though. It won't be long that I can get one on Ebay for less than 100 bucks anyway, so I will probably have my sentimental Jalapeno at some point in time.

LOL at the KY Jelly suggestion guys. What a great great plan. LOL
It needs it's own thread. Really. What shall we call it?
eheheh

Last I saw with mining profitability, BTC is still the best. So, mining BTC and then buying other CC's with BTC is the most cost effective way. Someone correct me if that has changed.
Of course, price says nothing for supporting another network and getting a CC stable and such.

Some of the alts go over BTC at times.  There is so much hashpower out there right now that coins with fast difficulty adjustments or low diff in general get quickly mined and go back to a higher diff.

Ah, thanks.

What is very interesting is that, due to "old" hardware becoming less effective for BTC, you are seeing (I think) a growing support for alt coins. (Even if as a hobby). It is sort of like a bunch of Gremlins poppin up all over. This is really nice as these Alt coins (e.g. Namecoin) might really server a valid function. Also, as ways to move in and out of BTC without going back to Fiat (there by avoiding taxes, at least currently).
I think we may be surprised what pops up regarding the alt coins. Maybe not real soon, but in the BTC future, they will be imo. And it is just a matter of time till one comes out that is really unique and does something shockingly well.

Hey Lucano,

Request if I may? I used to trade just by candles alone and took a few years off. I have to say, you have a very good way of communicating the candles. Brought a lot back to me.
You are basically already helping to educate many people with how you do your candles, but if you have another 5 mins, maybe you could make a Tutorial video talking about what you
are looking for in the BTC chart (Candle wise), patterns, going deeper (again) into the different periods, etc. (Maybe looking back and comparing charts, for example). Regardless, much appreciated.

I wonder, where did Yifu get the refund money? I get the feeling they sold those chips (in part) to the highest bidder.
What ever came about with the threats story? Any police reports or the like?
Lawsuits in the works?

Question: Why does it matter what any of our order numbers are? Today is the 15th. They said they will have ALL miners shipped out by then.

Because Avenger was called out by Orama and didn't agree to give him his order number.
I can see both perspectives, but can also say people are not really helping the thread with how they are communicating.
If Avenger is legit (cause he does come across as extreme), then perhaps he should meet Orama half way and show he isn't a shill.

Why anyone would want to continue supporting these Belligerent Fools at Life is beyond me.

Just let them go bankrupt already if they don't get arrested and sued first.

If you care about Bitcoin, you should care enough not to support these corrupt clowns.

Life is too short to reward their behavior.

What are you talking about? If someone placed an order last year or months ago and wants to change to "Mining by the GH" then what is the problem? Is changing an order (without giving any more money) really supporting them?

Especially if this helps them to profit a little more than otherwise, or again, like me - avoid Customs taxes - which is getting to be worth more than the miner.

The pain must run deep...

Learn from past , do the maths , will any one ever make any ROI from "Mining by the GH" , there already many group buy on this thread already mining @ current difficulty level , which are cheaper than "Mining by the GH" but ROI on those group buys is still difficult , STOP Advertising for Black Fucking Hole , Parasites of Bitcoin world.

The math isn't clear yet, but it looks like a December/January Jalapeno will have next to no return. In my case it won't even pay for the customs tax (which I just got rid of.)
I don't want to pay another 100 bucks in customs fees. And I've done something wrong?

Look, I think BFL has continually F'd the customer and I don't support them but if something saves me (or us) money then why not try it?

It is almost like I (we) should take it on the chin as some of you think this might help BFL. Farthest thing in my mind. I could care less about them.
I mentioned this as it possibly could help some with a (later) order date.
1351  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Power Supply Question on: October 14, 2013, 08:18:39 PM
Thanks for all the replies guys. I appreciate your time and I have a pretty good grasp on what you are all saying now.

Surprisingly, I have found some PS's, like the 70 buck Corsair 600CX that has 25amps and 150 watts on the 5v channel. If worse comes to worse there are a few others I found. I doubt the efficiency is very good though. Hopefully close to a 5V only 40amp or so PS. aznatama (or someone else) - Is it hard to wire/solder a the 24 pin atx to a dedicated 5V PS? The wiring thing is my fear.

Thanks again,
IAS

Barntech (or anyone), can you state about the USB connector on drillbit-8 boards?

Is it USB-A socket, USB Mini-B, Mini-A, micro, ... else?

I searched for that and nothing pops up, and the picture of board is not so helpful. Initially I assume this is USB-A socket, then looking at picture it is more likely a USB mini-B. Still, we don't have accurate info about this point.

Also I read that we just need to plug one board among 4 to control system, when they're stacked on a miniplane. Is it still right? So hub is only required for multiple miniplanes.

The socket is USB mini-B, and yeah you only need to plug one board in to connect the entire miniplane (or double scroll), only requiring a hub if you are going to be pluggin in lots of miniplanes.

So, do we need 1 USB to USB Mini-B to connect our mini plane to our e.g. Raspberry Pi? (Or for those with more mini planes, just 1 USB Mini-B for their larger double scroll?)

Thanks,
IAS

It depends on if you want the devices to be treated as one or a separate when on the mini plane. It said you can use 8 individual cables and treat them like usb devices. I'm still going to want to see how many shares one takes to see if I want to do either way.

Ah, I see what you mean. I will overclock them together and send the BTC produced to the same pool, so imagine one is enough.
Not a bad way to compare pools though, just set up 2 per pool (from 4) and see which pool does the best. (Perhaps having a few extra on hand is a nice experiment).

Thx for the reply,
IAS

Just to clarify for the less technical of us:
Power - direct connect to a standard modular ATX PSU?
Mini USB - connect to computer or pi
This is for mining software and internet connect?  So we will need a cord with Mini USB on one end and standard USB on the other right?

Individual board powered by a 4 pin molex connector, mini plane via a 24 pin atx connector, as far as I know.

That is my understanding as well.
And Swimmer63 - It is a Mini-B to USB yes (and yes, from the Raspberry Pi to the back plane or 8 chip card).  And yes, it is for the Raspberry Pi to communicate with the miner via it's software. My technical expertise is years behind me btw. Getting a Raspberry Pi is the first time in years I've done sysadmin or Linux type work...

STOP posting about stupid BFL ponzi schemes on this forum  Angry

I would love a BFL filter for forum thread titles.

And what about those of us (probably many many people or is that "suckers" that bought from them)? Or is it a painful reminder?

Should we be penalized (more) cause you don't want to hear about them?  Shocked

This thread was started as a help and not to complain or the like so I don't see the bitching. It might save someone (like me) at least the customs tax.
I mean I understand the pain associated with it though.  Grin

And I will have something to remind me for what I was fucked in the ass.

1359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 13, 2013, 11:50:13 AM
If this is just a firmware issue, then KNC probably were running the lines anyway. So, I don't understand why they would be so far behind. They should have completed (or nearly completed) units ready for firmware installation.

The main question I now have is, perhaps this wasn't just a firmware issue. And if they identified it as a firmware in only the last few days or in the last week, then they still could have been (or are) running the assembly line.
1360  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: BFL - Change your never to arrive order to "Mining by the GH" (Hosted) on: October 13, 2013, 11:25:58 AM

BTC still pays better but what will happen in about month or two from now??
IMHO it is better to pay custom and have your own device, especially if you are dealing with BFL.

Guess it depends on which miner you ordered. BFL said they outsourced production of the Jalapeno's. But right at that time Jalapeno production went to a stand still and the other miners "suddenly" started to increase. I think BFL is and was lying and they just shifted focus. Perhaps they increase Jalapeno production again - just watch if it happens when the other miners catch up to the same date (Now mid March).

The thing with customs is, if your Jalapeno arrives in December or later (which is looking likely for many), your customs tax (100 Euro on a 7Ghash Jally) will be worth more than the Jally will.

The better risk, but still shitty, is going with the Mining BY The GH.
