Price reduced on remaining Logitech Cube in black!
422  Other / Off-topic / Re: Hunger Games Movie on: March 23, 2012, 06:50:17 PM
I'm going to see it soon, but in my experience, the movie NEVER lives up to the book.

Kids (and adults) need to read more... Sad
Fight Club movie completely destroys the book.
423  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Modding a reference bracket to be a high-flow bracket? on: March 23, 2012, 05:35:24 PM
Has anybody had any success modifying the standard ATI/AMD mounting bracket?  I mean like cutting some of the "fins" off the exhaust port like this EVGA nVidia card:

http://www.evga.com/articles/00672/

Does this actually help out?
424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 195.200.253.240 is a real jerk on: March 23, 2012, 05:05:09 PM
How does one know in advance that a block is empty?  Has it been previously mined by the network?
425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 195.200.253.240 is a real jerk on: March 23, 2012, 04:56:44 PM
Look at recent transactions... ( https://blockchain.info/ )

A$$hat is dropping transactions to get the block reward faster

Making more work for legit mining pools

Maybe TX fee is too low?

Can someone explain this to me in layman's terms?  Preferably in mono-syllabic words Tongue

549 Euros for a card w/ retail price of $500?  Ouch.  Guess some people had to have it.

I hope AMD counters with a drop in 7970 prices.  If they do, I just might go with some 7970s instead of waiting for the 7990.

He mine 1 btc and keep it. Then mine another btc and sell it for ltc. And so on

Yah what Gabi said.
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PSA : Final Litecoin LTC GPU miner released !!! on: March 22, 2012, 06:12:47 AM
I get about 520 kH/s out of my 5970 for a few seconds, and then I get nothing but "Weird response from server" or something like that.  I don't get what I'm doing wrong  Sad
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin GPU mining revelations and ArtForz running away on: March 21, 2012, 07:35:07 PM
I'm going 50/50 with BTC/LTC right now (for every 1 BTC I mine, I buy 1 BTC worth of Litecoins).  IMHO they're really cheap at the moment and way down from the year high.  If only I could have bought Bitcoins this cheap.

Edit: Woops, I meant to post this in the other Litecoin thread.  Oh well, call the cops. I don't give a fk! Smiley
431  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7990 delayed on: March 21, 2012, 05:07:25 PM
1 GH/s should be easy.

7970 gets ~0.6 MH/s per Mhz.  A 7990 clocked @ 850 Mhz should be 500 MH/s per core or 1 GH/s total.  A small overclock to 920 Mhz would net 1.1 GH/s.  A large overclock to 1000 Mhz would be 1.2 GH/s.  Honestly I don't see clocks being pushes higher than that not with the thermal limits of single chassis and the current limits of 3 phase VRM (vs 4 phase for 7970).

I can't wait!! OMG hurry up AMD.
432  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GK104: nVidia's Kepler to be the First Mining Card? on: March 20, 2012, 05:00:01 PM
If I listen closely, I can almost hear the price of 7970s dropping.
433  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: nVidia GeForce GTX 680 Specs leaked on: March 17, 2012, 11:32:11 PM
So will this mine ?

If it does mine properly then I hit NIRVANA !

That remains to be seen.  But yeah I've always been an nVidia fan first and foremost, so if it can mine, I'll be all up ons.

It is not even about being a fan or not.

People that are fanboying for a specific brand are tools.

I buy whatever is best for my needs, regardless of the brand.

I am sick of having to choose only AMD GPUs for mining.

So many troubles etc.

Being a fan != fanboy, but I'm sure you already knew that.

Be careful, DaT.

Edit: Rotrot does have a successful loan with reputable members, so this may indeed be legit.  Good luck on the sale, Rotrot!

436  Other / Off-topic / Re: Some interesting things to ponder - all interrelated on: March 15, 2012, 07:47:44 PM
Here are some names:

- Aubrey de Grey
- Vernor Vinge
- David Chalmers
- Daniel Dennett
- Roger Penrose
- Stephen Hawking
- Paul Ehrlich
- Herman Daly
- Werner Heisenberg
- John S. Bell
- Kurt Gödel
- Albert Einstein
- Niels Bohr

What is Vernor Vinge doing in that list?  Isn't he a bad sci-fi novelist?  Granted, I only read one book of his (Across Realtime) but that was enough for me.
