1221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Mining on Ixcoin, a new Bitcoin fork on: August 15, 2011, 05:50:13 PM
That's the problem -- there are only so many techies and young people who are willing to play with something like Bitcoin.

If you have 5 forks, then none of them will be viable.

In other words, the market is only big enough for ONE Bitcoin at the moment. If anything, it's not even big enough for one!  Nevermind several.

Anyone who disagrees please back it up with facts, reason, logic, etc. I'm all ears.

Matthew

So are you gonna mine I0coin or what? Smiley
1222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IXcoin -- enough is enough! on: August 15, 2011, 05:37:15 PM
People are suckers and only suckers care about IXcoin.

That's what everybody told me about Bitcoin.

If I wasn't mining this scam currency, I'd be busy mining the other scam currencies.

What's up with the high rate of Rejected blocks?  In the beginning it wasn't that big of a deal, but now at current difficulty, it's frustrating finding a block only to have it rejected. Sad

Well, I don't blame you. Ixcoins are for you! Cool

But I am curious to know if Thomas can build a currency with people that only want to profit from speculation. We'll see...

I'm not sure that BEX can see your post from behind all the stacks of Ixcoins.

LOL @ warter cooling and manly at looking  Cheesy. don't be offended though, i'm not making fun of you, just what you said is funny.

There minus whale not even be a spell check. People seriously need to read the "Before posting on the internet" pan flip before they think about replying. I know the idea is mind bottling, but it'll help you out in the long run.  One of the french benefits of the diversity of our user base is we get all kinds of people who might use English as a primary language Smiley  But hey, my opinion is largely ear elephant.  It took me a good month or two before I mustard up enough courage to post here, and I'm doing asbestos I can.

i am slightly retarded. im happy tho so it all works out. to be honest you guys hurt my feelings. what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

and if you ever wanna come say hi to me you are more than welcome. i'll have tea and cookies ready for you mother fucker.

I lol'd...  And I wasn't trying to be sarcastic.  Seriously, you're better off selling face-to-face since there's way too many scammers, both buyers and sellers, in the Bitcoin secondary market.

Who are you on GFY?
1230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IxCoin is a SCAM on: August 12, 2011, 06:34:28 PM

So basically, at current Ixcoin difficulty, in the time it takes me to mine 1 Bitcoin, I could mine about 1000 Ixcoins and sell them for about 2.4 Bitcoins.
1231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Ixcoin - a new Bitcoin fork on: August 12, 2011, 06:27:10 PM
In particular, I think it is unfair to keep hundreds of thousands of whatever-coins for yourself, and it is unwise to think that a bitcoin variation that is "almost exactly like bitcoin, only different because... well, just because" will ever have anything more than speculative value.

I don't think anybody really takes Ixcoin seriously.  As you said, most of us view it as a gimmicky distraction with no inherent monetary use other than speculative value on the Ixcoin exchange.  Ixcoin vs. Bitcoin is like batting cages vs. baseball.  Or the driving range vs. a full 18 hole round of golf.  It's fun for miners who just like to go through the motions and see numbers fly by on the screen, but beyond that it's just an empty shell of what the Bitcoin movement is.
1232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IxCoin is a SCAM on: August 12, 2011, 05:50:11 PM
I certainly don't see much value in IxCoins right now.

You don't see much value in significant mining bandwidth being diverted from the Bitcoin network?

I have no clue what you're going on about.

Doesn't surprise me in the least.

Which government?

The one that shut down ThePirateBay.org.
1235  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: August 12, 2011, 04:31:07 PM
Sure, about the same as they have been.  Do you have some reason to believe that they'll go up?

Hey Chris, the Ixcoin exchange is blocked for me at work.  What's the current exchange rate right now?  I can't see it.  Last night I remember it was .0008.  Can you tell us what it is now?  Thanks!
1236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Ixcoin - a new Bitcoin fork on: August 12, 2011, 03:59:19 AM
Yeah but Namecoin has an unique advantage to it. This one doesn't.

Ok, well then don't mine it.  I took a break for a few hours from mining Bitcoins and mined Ixcoins instead and I'm sitting on a few thousand of them already.  If it takes off, cool.  If not, I missed out on about a half a BTC, or less than five bucks at current exchange rate.  To me, that's an inexpensive risk to take.
1237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Ixcoin - a new Bitcoin fork on: August 12, 2011, 03:42:47 AM
Yes what happened is that people with bitcoins like me got sucked into buying worthless ixcoins. Sell them while you can because it is not a sound investment its a pump and dump.

That's precisely what people said about Namecoin, and now it's at .033 BTC per NMC.
