That's the problem -- there are only so many techies and young people who are willing to play with something like Bitcoin.
If you have 5 forks, then none of them will be viable.
In other words, the market is only big enough for ONE Bitcoin at the moment. If anything, it's not even big enough for one! Nevermind several.
Anyone who disagrees please back it up with facts, reason, logic, etc. I'm all ears.

Well, I don't blame you. Ixcoins are for you!  But I am curious to know if Thomas can build a currency with people that only want to profit from speculation. We'll see... I'm not sure that BEX can see your post from behind all the stacks of Ixcoins. |

People seriously need to read the "Before posting on the internet" pan flip before they think about replying. I know the idea is mind bottling, but it'll help you out in the long run. One of the french benefits of the diversity of our user base is we get all kinds of people who might use English as a primary language But hey, my opinion is largely ear elephant. It took me a good month or two before I mustard up enough courage to post here, and I'm doing asbestos I can. |

In particular, I think it is unfair to keep hundreds of thousands of whatever-coins for yourself, and it is unwise to think that a bitcoin variation that is "almost exactly like bitcoin, only different because... well, just because" will ever have anything more than speculative value. I don't think anybody really takes Ixcoin seriously. As you said, most of us view it as a gimmicky distraction with no inherent monetary use other than speculative value on the Ixcoin exchange. Ixcoin vs. Bitcoin is like batting cages vs. baseball. Or the driving range vs. a full 18 hole round of golf. It's fun for miners who just like to go through the motions and see numbers fly by on the screen, but beyond that it's just an empty shell of what the Bitcoin movement is. |

I certainly don't see much value in IxCoins right now. You don't see much value in significant mining bandwidth being diverted from the Bitcoin network? I have no clue what you're going on about. Doesn't surprise me in the least. |

Yeah but Namecoin has an unique advantage to it. This one doesn't.
Ok, well then don't mine it. I took a break for a few hours from mining Bitcoins and mined Ixcoins instead and I'm sitting on a few thousand of them already. If it takes off, cool. If not, I missed out on about a half a BTC, or less than five bucks at current exchange rate. To me, that's an inexpensive risk to take. |
