1021  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Anyone Using This Power Supply For Mining ? on: August 30, 2011, 04:46:37 PM
I read here at bitcointalk forums, someone fried a corsairTX 750w because he/she ran 3 5830's, and had to go up to an 850w PSU.

I would look into a 850w for 3 x 5830's, or higher if you plan to add more cards.

If you're referring to me, yeah that was a Thermaltake 750W that failed on me while it was powering two 5870s, and a single 5850. In all fairness, it actually ran fine since the beginning of June and lasted me up to that point.  I replaced it with a Corsair AX850 which now powers two 5870s and a single 5970.  So far, so good *crosses fingers*  People always say "Don't skimp on your PSU" and I'd have to agree there.  You can cut corners with memory, processor, mobo, and even run caseless to save money.  But spring for a good PSU.  I recommend Corsair's AX series, it's sexc as hell!

Is there an easy way to swap mounting brackets?  Or is it like welded on there or something?
1023  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5970 new in stock newegg 499$ ! on: August 30, 2011, 05:44:45 AM
Yeah I'm thinking of RMA'ing mine too.  I mean it works just fine and looks sexy as hell, but the mounting bracket is all kinds of bent up from improper packing.

Did you buy yours from NewEgg, or the other place (that threw in several misc. accessories for about $8 more in shipping)

NewEgg. It came with the usual accessories and, for no extra charge, a post-modern sculpture made out of the mounting bracket on my card.

I can't tell what power usage I'm hitting, but it all runs with my Corsair AX850.

Ok at 940/300MHz, 1.112v I'm getting 414.XX MH/s per core (829 MH/s total).  I'm not even sure what the voltage should be since I've never messed with it on my 5870s.  The first core on the 5970 runs cool at 67C/85% but the second core runs a lot warmer (I guess it's getting air downstream of core 1) at 87C.  Don't tell me I need to water cool this thing  Undecided
1027  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5970 new in stock newegg 499$ ! on: August 30, 2011, 12:21:38 AM
Ok the 5970 seems to work fine.  At stock clock 725MHz (300 memory) it's doing 320 MH/s.  Time to turn up heat and see what this thing will do (ha famous last words!)

per GPU?

Err, yeah per GPU. Sorry I forgot to clarify that.  I just got back from McDonald's and I'm drinking one of those Wild Berry smoothies, they're SO good.  Ok time to get to OC'ing this thing.

No molex>Pcie adapters included?

None Sad  But then again it's an OEM kit so I didn't expect any.

I just got mine and was a little shocked at how small the box was that it came in.  At first I was like "there's no way this is a 5970, the box is way too small.  They must have shipped me something else."  So I was kind of panicking while opening the box!  But sure enough it was a brand spankin new OEM HD 5970 shoehorned diagonally into the small cardboard box.  Apparently it was fit so tight that the mounting bracket was bent on the top and bottom.  No biggie since I can just bend it back, but it's something you might want to know about if you're thinking of getting one.  It came with a CrossFire cable, DVI plug, and Mini Displayport adapter too.  I'm a little disappointed in the packaging and now I'm a little scared to actually try it out!

What port do I open on my router for i0coin?

Wasn't there a "how to" in one of the recent threads?

I think it's 7332.
1032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 08:30:21 PM
I'm on bitparking, 10 blocks found for them, 317 coins given to me.
That's a touch more than 5% fee!

I can't get the i0coind to run on winxp or win7, nor to compile at all on linux, so no solo mining for me Sad

How many GH/s are you contributing?
1033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 08:24:52 PM
Hmmm... wild guess... it might not be showing unconfirmed rewards? (stopped mining @ bitparking ~block 15300)

That would make sense to a degree.  But then shouldn't my balance reflect 16-17 blocks worth of coins give or take?  Even still it's way off for me.  Maybe it's just bad luck I guess.
1034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 08:18:11 PM
Hmmm, on "bitparking pool seems unlucky"...
Blocks Found   24
Balance   1269.575216314

Is that solo or with Bitparking?

Edit:  Err, that's a fractional amount so it'd have to be with a pool.  If that's with Bitparking, that's what I would expect to see for 24 blocks.  I'm sitting at 21 blocks and 421 coins now though Sad
1035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 08:08:03 PM
Seems rather low, but it could just be variance.  I mean we could technically have found 0 blocks individually and still be at our current coin count.  I think it'll smooth out over time.

Well I am curious how many others have the exact same issue. If all 20Gh/s of which I'm 20% of are getting this discrepancy then I think it is noteworthy.

I highly doubt that someone has found 0 blocks yet is getting all the rest of our coins.

That makes no sense.

I'm putting down about 1.3GH/s so between you and me, that's a little over 22% I think.

Edit: How long til the next retarget?
1036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 08:05:57 PM
Just found 3 blocks on my HD5770; one after 2 hours, one after 11 minutes and one after 25 minutes Smiley

You're mining solo though.  I'm talking about the Bitparking pool.

w00t! 19 blocks found, for a total of 405 coins now Smiley
1039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 29, 2011, 07:34:29 PM
How many coins per block are there now?

48 coins per block!

Damn, I've found 16 blocks for the Bitparking pool but only have like 360 coins FML
