461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: *warning* Two current security issues with mobile devices on: August 10, 2016, 08:53:31 PM
Or just don't use mobile wallets entirely. Has worked for years so far with no problem and also utilizing cold storage.

just don't put too much moneh there and everything should be fine, mobile wallets are ez 2 use and available everywhere

Op said "Larger sums should be locked away in cold storage, offline, somewhere secure."

I don't use a mobile wallet. I barely use a mobile. But if I did, this post is clear info I would like to see.
Thanks OP.

I see, well I am still against hard forks, or at least let's not rush it. We will have segwit soon, and then we will see what will happen it the future with it. Let's just sit back and observe.

Ok.. you can be against whatever you randomly choose to be against. I know Core like people to get confused about the hard fork issue, as seen here.

I have taken your "I see" to mean you now understand hardforks are not inherently like mitosis? (they could be, but they certainly needn't be)
(i can only suppose you have deduced this because Core would not otherwise consider such a thing?)
And also a possibility you will have changed your mind on Franky's question you didn't answer?

You are quite likely just as confused about segwit?

we saw a rise in the US Dollar against major currencies. we saw a rise in prices for risky assets such as raw materials, particularly oil. Considering such news the Dollar strengthened on Friday and pressured Bitcoin.
Bitcoin price moved lower than $350 but then again, the price rose back to $423. This shows great confidence of investors in Bitcoin. So don't worry about it. It will bounce back.Wink

You need to download a software to your computer to use them and make sure to only download form a trusted source. Understand that your wallet can contain numerous bitcoin addresses. It is a good practice to generate a new receiving address for each incoming transaction, to increase anonymity.
you can use that segregate to each and every work.

taxation on bitcoins and its reporting is not as simple as it seems. For starters, it is difficult to determine the fair value of the bitcoin on purchase and sale transactions. Bitcoins are very volatile and there are huge swings in prices in a single trading day.

Bitcoin earning signature campaign is the only way to get a steady income. At the same it also have its own risk with post quality and knowledge about bitcoin. At times you may get kicked from campaign which affects the earning. Trading also suggested which needs investment and the one with less risk is faucets but it won't give worthy income for the time you spend.

Thank you for your explanation but I want to ask something for you, whether the block is can be empty like an example from 50 after halving become a 25 and every 4 years is be divided a half and this is in the 12.5 and next 4 years is in the 6,25 and that is possible for block to become empty? what happened if that is can happen.

When did you buy your account?
Start of May March i'm guessing.

Please post your question in the newbie/help section.

467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whatsapp to send privkey ??? on: August 08, 2016, 09:57:13 PM
thanks for all the replies, i fully understand that big corporations like whatsapp is now cant be trusted.  but lets be honest as bitcoin users, are you saying that if i want to send bitcoin to my brother who i fully trust, that i should send it over the network (at a fee) rather than send the privkey to him?   so i have 1 btc at an address and rather than send/or tell him the privkey which is free, i should send it over the network which will cost a mining fee?  and in the future will cost more and more.

We as users off bitcoin should always be looking the best option and in my opinion this is the best option when sending to a fully trusted family/friend.  if i am completely wrong then please explain way i am wrong and i will reply but this is the best way as i see it.

The answers to your dilemma are already written here. If you wont spend $0.13 to transfer $590, then go ahead, lose your bitcoin.
That is not how to use bitcoin, but you seem to know better. Good luck. Goodbye bitcoin.

And I could comment there.

It is probably copy paste article?

469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hardfork = Mitosis on: August 08, 2016, 09:06:07 PM
I understand your logic, but it seems that logic dosnt stand up in crypto world.  I just banked 2 ETH in to a paper wallet and sold 2 ETC for bitcoin which means i have gained something surly...... Smiley lol

Who's logic?

My logic - hardforks are not inherently bad, and will be used for something at some point.
Or RealBitcoin's illogic - hardforks should never happen ever.
(mainly because he misunderstands the difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum, and probably didn't realise Core want to hardfork in the future)
470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the rekcahxfb giveaway say about our community on: August 08, 2016, 08:18:09 PM
These funds have been stolen from individuals in the bitcoin community and not some faceless mega corp yet so far nearly 6000 people are more than happy to try their luck hoping to win the stolen cash.
This isn't really true. There was only speculative proof that these coins are stolen. They aren't tied to the Bitfinex incident and may be linked to TF (still doesn't make them stolen) or I've missed something.

"Luckily" you got 1 of those btc, I think?

OP was hacked by someone else who edited the original post and asked for Bitcoin in order to participate in this giveaway. There seem to be a fair sum of people that were gullible enough to send them Bitcoin. In any case, it was also being spammed by new accounts and thus had to be locked (will remain locked until OP is able to sign another message).

Oh yes, the 1000 btc owner/hacker had his Bitcointalk account hacked.  Cheesy Funny world.

.. do we actually know that it was even a genuine offer, it was prob a scam to begin with anyway.

Duh.
471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hardfork = Mitosis on: August 08, 2016, 07:59:06 PM

RealBitcoin, do you still believe any of your generalised statements about "hardforks" here?

Or did you just mean non Core hardforks,
or just blocksize hardforks,
or just Altcoin hardforks.

When Core talk of a future hardfork to benefit segwit, is that ok?
472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the rekcahxfb giveaway say about our community on: August 08, 2016, 07:46:35 PM
So it seems the hacker rekcahxfb is offering to give away 1000BTC on reddit.

These funds have been stolen from individuals in the bitcoin community and not some faceless mega corp yet so far nearly 6000 people are more than happy to try their luck hoping to win the stolen cash.

From my point of view all those that signed up for it are just as bad as the scammers and it doesn't reflect well on the bitcoin community which is often viewed as a criminal entity by outside world at the best of times.

I also wonder what would be the legal ramifications for the person who wins it, I doubt they used a proxy so can be identified by I.P address, I dont think the police would be very understanding towards the person knowingly accepting $600k of stolen money.

How come Core is promising a hardfork?

"We, the undersigned, support the roadmap in Capacity increases for the Bitcoin system."
https://bitcoincore.org/en/2015/12/21/capacity-increase/

Link to roadmap,
https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-dev/2015-December/011865.html

"The segwit design calls for a future bitcoinj compatible hardfork to further increase its efficiency--"

"Further out, there are several proposals related to flex caps or incentive-aligned dynamic block size controls based on allowing miners to produce larger blocks... we don't immediately need these proposals, but they will be critically important long term."

"at some point the capacity increases from the above may not be enough... moderate block size increase proposals (such as 2/4/8 rescaled to respect segwit's increase). Bitcoin will be able to move forward with these increases when improvements and understanding render their risks widely acceptable relative to the risks of not deploying them... In Bitcoin Core we should keep patches ready to implement them as the need and the will arises, to keep the basic software engineering from being the limiting factor."

474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the blockchain's purpose being redefined by the forked Ethereum Community? on: August 06, 2016, 09:51:44 PM
It didn't start with them. It started with people pushing for a hardfork in Bitcoin making the factually unsupported claim that whatever "the most" hashpower says is what happens.

The fact that Bitcoin software has _never_ worked like that (nor any altcoin that I'm aware of) hasn't phased them. Ethereum has just been running what that misunderstanding. It'll be pretty interesting to see what happens when ETC ends up with more hashpower.

What? Ethereum HF started with people pushing for a block size increase HF in Bitcoin, causing Ethereum to HF to rewrite their history and turn their blockchain into a mutable blockchain?

In Bitcoin "the most" hashpower does confirm what happens. Different software must convince hashpower to run it.
Of course you mean something like 80% hashpower when you say "the most"?

Ethereum did not fork on a misunderstanding of that. Ethereum forked because Vitalic called for it.
Ethereum has a block time of seconds, and a difficulty adjustment different to Bitcoin.

If "the most" hashpower in Bitcoin forked to "bigger block size" it would be a completely different outcome to any Ethereum hardfork.
(as I have tried to explain to "RealBitcoin" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1556202.60)

You must know all this.

476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hardfork = Mitosis on: August 03, 2016, 10:50:23 PM
The probability of bitcoin hardfork should be the same as breaking ECDSA. That would make me sleep well at night.

Not trying to keep you up at night but,
Core seem to be promising a hard fork at some point within 18 months, AA says a hard fork will happen. The miners are ready to hard fork.

The probability of a Bitcoin hard fork is about 1. Breaking ECDSA is quite a lot harder than that.
Mathematically, in a different universe.

Anyway, keep making this stuff up "RealBitcoin". Your in for a few sleepless nights.
477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another closed door Core - Chinese miners meeting on: August 02, 2016, 09:00:33 PM

From link,
Quote
Bitcoin Core developer Greg Maxwell, who also attended the gathering, echoed this sentiment. “I thought it was really positive — and good to meet up with people face to face that I'd only talked with in email before,” he said in a post on bitcointalk.org.

“The Bitcoin industry seriously needs better communication — especially crossing language and cultural barriers — rather than hot comments on social media,” Maxwell said. “Improved communication will lead to fewer potential avenues for miscommunication and better cooperation in the future.”

And all you post here is a link to some shit magazine saying what you posted here earlier, "we need better communication"?
Pathetic.

Looks like you are just stalling, while you wait for the miner "announcement".

478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hardfork = Mitosis on: August 01, 2016, 02:40:53 PM

Unlike Eth, a Bitcoin chain with 10% hash will be unusable, and unsustainable, for a long period of time.
When a 1mb block is mined on your 10% chain, every hour or two or three, for months on end, very few users will be able to move any coins.

The number of users split too not just the network, a  forked chain with 10% hash power (but with say 10mb blocks) will be used by 0.0001% of bitcoin users, initially? So it wont be congested.

And by the time users catch on, the difficulty readjusts ,and it becomes a standalone chain. It immediately gets added to some lower profile exchanges, then by greed, the big ones add it too, it can become standalone pretty fast, and then we are fucked.

Stop ignoring the fatal threats that a hardfork brings to bitcoin, there is a serious issue with hardfork, it's not just gossip or trolling.

Your still just making all this stuff up, based on your misunderstanding that Eth works in any way like Bitcoin. It doesn't.
Your first line makes no sense whatever.
Users are not split. Core only have 1mb blocks, 0.0001% of say 10,000,000 bitcoin users is 10 people initially using your chain?

so when I ask, "Bitcoin difficulty is not like Ethereum difficulty. Please stop making out it is, or explain how."
Your explanation is "by the time users catch on, the difficulty readjusts ,and it becomes a standalone chain."

Some kind of magical difficulty setting? It readjusts "when users catch on"

Your trolling here is built on gossip, and BS stuff you made up.

When a player of mine posted this:

I always been payed by this affiliate he honors his word and my win rate on betcoin is higher then any other site. It has the weakest players. I honestly think bet coin is doing a great job and I am very negative about online poker rooms in general.

He immediately quoted a review that he made over 1 year ago in an attempt to shame him.  But that was 1 year ago, so clearly that means his opinion of the poker room has changed.

never mind dont sign up on betcoin. I just talked to their customer service very unprofessional and wont answer your question about if a game freezes in a sng do we get a refund. They siad just send a ticket. Screw them all join seals. Worst customer service I have had on any poker site. And they need customers and i play daily and play poker for a living. They thought i already signed up and had money deposited on the site so decided to be snotty and rude to me.  Great customer support. Dudes name was julian i think. GG. Ty for offer though I appreciate you trying to help out poker community but im not dealing with non professional people.

Hey, what happened to shangerlaa? Did he brain hemmorage? or sell his account?

why the hell would a busy Chinese miner fly thousands of miles to socialize with a bunch of neckbeards? can they actually speak out loud? if I were a miner i'd bring some huge Mongolians to watch the door and no one's allowed out until something's hammered out.

exactly. a waste of time event.
no i dont think so, if they have really call meeting then it really carry meaning because the chines miner can really effect bitcoin overnight , i think if they stop mining for one week you will see the panic in the bitcoin market, therefore we should give value to their meeting and must do analysis of their meeting.
