462  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The idea that will make the world a better place on: March 30, 2018, 10:35:34 PM
75 thousand is not enough to make the world a better place. If you want to make it a better place, then invest in organizations that help raise awareness to people. If you are going to spend money on charity, the money will fade away eventually and your fingerprint will follow. However, if you persuade people to donate, they will have lots of money. It has always been about people whether they want to help or not. That's how to make the world a better place bit by bit.

Are you kidding? That's a very irresponsible statement to make, and it sounds like you haven't done much charitable giving in your life.

I am on the board of a non-profit organization in a third-world country, and $75k would nearly cover the entire operational costs to run a children's home/orphanage for a year. This includes staffing costs, educational tuitions, clothing, school supplies, fundamentals (toiletries/soaps/laundry costs), AND three square meals a day. Even if one of those children is given a better life that rewards them with an education to become something, that is enough to have made the world a better place, in my eyes. While raising awareness is great, there are ways to do it without having to waste precious resources and money on awareness campaigns. If done properly, services and ad space (and other in-kind donations) can be donated for those types of campaigns, while the monetary donation is used to directly provide for the cause at hand.

OP, when you say you want to "invest", does that mean that you are looking for a return on your investment? Or do you mean you would like to donate?

If you are serious about wanting to donate, even a portion of what you have available, I am ready and willing to provide you with the proper documentation necessary to show you what my organization is doing, and the lives that it will directly affect. We publish our financial statements online and provide full transparency; not a single dollar is omitted from our statements. You would be doing a great service to much-needed families and children in the third world country of Belize.

Feel free to PM me if you want more information.
463  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: User Topparkeds scammed me for .15 BTC [Updated] on: March 30, 2018, 10:26:41 PM
Honestly, it sounds to me that he doesn't have the funds to cover the balance at the moment, which just means that he should not have bid on the coins in the first place if he didn't expect to win.

Given that it has now been a week and a half and the payment was not sent, I would consider that a violation of the auction, and regardless of whether he pays you in full or not, feel that the negative trust rating is still valid.

If he would have been forthcoming and just stated that he doesn't have the funds, rather than playing this nickel-and-dime game and disappearing act, I'm sure it would be easier to work out a fair deal. But because he has chosen to be non-responsive, I don't see why the negative rating would be removed, even if/after he pays in full.

Just my two.

I must try harder, I'm right down at no 19. Smiley

Try harder with one account like me. however you have got some merits even on your alt. if you see me with not much received merits is because there is no merit for what I'm doing, right?

bitmover ranked up from Jr. Member to Member this past week.

Here are some lower ranked members to watch out for, as their post quality is great, and they'll have no issues ranking up:

Blue Tyrant - Newbie
butka - Newbie
MyIota - Jr. Member

You forgot to add MyLtc, MyBtc, MyEth, MySexcoin, MyActivitytoken etc. even with farming merits, ranking up is not easy, even if somebody is sending merits from 100 accounts to their alt accounts. don't you find it ironic, you are spending hours, posting pages of content. yet you have managed to rank up less than 10 members. I'm a source, yet I have managed to rank up 2-3 members. somebody else is giving 50 merits in bulk and is ranking up 10 members every day spending less or the same amount of time and effort?

You view this forum as a competition. That's your problem. I don't know what you get from earning and spending fake internet points, but it seems to make you happy, even at the expense of insulting and devaluing other members. Don't you find THAT ironic? My whole purpose behind the movement of my challenge is for the betterment of the forums. Yet you view it as a threat. Why? You seem to think that merit can and should only be distributed by merit sources. How about you focus on doing what you do best, and I'll continue to help make the forums a better place? Your ability to terrorize me and anything that has to do with me shows how big of a hardon you have for me, yet you're effectively doing nothing constructive to rectify the "problem" that you seem to think I'm curating. Well, except for whining about it and sounding like a manchild every time you post something. You're contributing to the problem by posting nonsense repeatedly. Focus on a solution, rather than just contributing to the spam. Because all you're doing is talking in circles without having brought forth any validity to your claims to and about me and my challenge and its participants.

Grow the fuck up, and take my nuts out of your mouth. It's becoming pathetic at this point.

Real talk.
When I first encounter merit system I say it's a nice new system to eliminate shit poster, but now I experience how difficult to earn merit and I feel I'll just stuck with my rank forever.

Theirs a lot of good poster here that's not even recognize. Is merit  system done automatically or just by manual reading by those people are giving merit,  because it's unfair for those really deserve it and needs to rank up.

There are plenty of members here receiving merits for their quality posts. After reviewing your post history, it's apparent why you don't receive any merits. Your posts are shit, and mainly in megathreads. You're a shitposter.

The merit system is doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Come on, do you really believe that posts like these deserve any merit? These are the first few posts I grabbed from your most recent post history...

At first I don't really believe in Bitcoin I thought it was a scam but my friend told me about it, his earnings. And I started to read some feedback in internet about Bitcoin. My friend guided me how to start.

Life in Bitcoin is exciting especially when I get my first payment it helps me in the time's when I really need money. Bitcoin life is a nice experience that is also good to share to other.

Each country has their own currency that symbolize their own identity and status. Replacing those in one currency like Bitcoin is impossible to happen.

Involvement in Bitcoin is a serious matter you in terms of time and effort. But after that you will see the results of all your labor. For me I will choose Bitcoin first for my future living.

My advice to you? Stop posting in megathreads. Stop posting just to get your post/activity count up. Stop posting single sentence generic posts that are not contributive to the thread. Stop posting the same answer that has already been posted before you. Make conscious efforts to try to provide quality content here, rather than just your generic opinions that, in the end, don't matter.

"Real talk."

-price negotiable-
Junior member account for sale with
1- 33 posts
2- 33 activities
3- 3 merits
4- price from 0.045 to 0.052

You do realize that your account is going to become absolutely worthless when it gets red-tagged, right? For your reference, account sales are highly frowned upon by the community here, as it encourages purchases by shady people who have even shadier intentions. Please do not engage in this type of behavior.

469  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge (Round 4) - 1st: $25 + 8Merits | 2nd: $10 + 6M on: March 30, 2018, 06:30:06 PM
Hey Joe,

I have been following this thread from the time you started it and I am finding a place for my smerits to sit around. I started a service for giving out merits for quality posts, but it all went in vain when spammers took over my thread and started requesting merit for shit posts. Hence I locked the thread and was thinking around how to spend these merits. I am not good in judging the post quality. So I would like to award 2 merits per week for 2 quality posts made by a newbie wearing your signature.

Currently I have 15 smerits with me which can be distributed in 7 rounds. If I receive enough merits in the coming weeks and if my current smerits raises more than 15 I would be sharing with the winners of this challenge after the aforementioned 7 rounds. I can assure you that I won't be giving even a single merit outside this challenge and I would donate all my smerits to this challenge.

If in rare cases, I didn't receive a single merit in the course of 7 weeks for the posts I make, I would stop meriting people and leaving this challenge. If you approve this, I would start my journey along with you and other people for making this forum clean and free from spams. Sharing is Caring Smiley

I love the initiatives that other members have shown due to this challenge... It really is bringing out the cream of the crop on the forums, and you're a prime example of that.

If you review the spreadsheet at any time, you'll see that there is a section called "Meritorious Posts of the Week" for each of the rounds that have passed. These posts are hand-picked by me when I review the participants' posts for the week (every Sunday). You are more than welcome to check out some of the posts that I find to be meritorious and award them individually.

Alternatively, I can make you a merit sponsor for the following 7 rounds and you can choose to wait until the winners have been announced before meriting the posts of your choice; similar to the manner of current merit sponsors. This challenge hasn't had any difficulties producing great content by Newbies thus far, so I'm anticipating that it will be easy for you to find two posts per week by a newbie that would qualify for your merits.

Thanks for stepping up, and I'm grateful that you took the time to review this thread and its participants from the beginning. Let me know if you'd like to become a sponsor, and for which placement of winners. I can create a separate category for you, such as a bonus prize only eligible to newbies. Does this work?
470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Common Q&A about Bitcoin: Non-Technical Edition (Earn Merits) on: March 30, 2018, 06:01:04 PM
Q: Is Bitcoin safe?
A:
The algorithms and technical solutions that underpin the operation of Bincoin are absolutely safe. But the answer to this question depends on you personally. Just ask yourself. Is your credit card safe? Is Dollar, Euro or Yen safe? The water you drink, the air you breathe, is it safe? Is Car or Plane safe? Don't get on the plane if you doubt his safety. The same is with Bitcoin. Only your faith in Bitcoin will give the answer whether he is safe or not.

This. Great answer. I often make comparisons between Bitcoin and fiat currency. I like to state that I trust the blockchain 100% more than I trust banks. I throw some personal opinion and speculation in there, as well, stating that if/when global currencies collapse, Bitcoin will be there to pick up the slack Tongue

Welcome to the forums, and enjoy your merit! I will add your answer to the top post.

Hello, I just have discover that one of chips by Chipmixer was empty and never received any btc before, it means chipmixer give me private key of empty wallet instead wallet with btc
Did you use the real https://chipmixer.com/ ? There are fake sites that look like ChipMixer out there!

Also I check signed receipt (message --- MESSAGE ---
This is a receipt / confirmation that you have received following )
Is the message signed with ChipMixer's Bitcoin address 1ChipMwvHe5tewb1Uqa9bbZZJDmgPV1TC7 ?

Sure, I check website address ten times and aware about phishing

This message is signed with ChipMixer's Bitcoin address:
1ChipMwvHe5tewb1Uqa9bbZZJDmgPV1TC7

I point out that just one of chips have no inputs and no outputs (despite the fact that this is the largest)
Also I had use chipmixer a lot before and face with that error at first time

Hey there mate, if all is as it seems when it comes to the correct url and signature, send them a support request to chipmixer[at]protonmail.com. They'll manually review your mix instance and (hopefully) rectify the situation. They're fairly active here on the forums, as well, so you can alternatively send them a PM here, given that they accept messages from Newbies. They're pretty proactive on maintaining the quality of their service, and should be able to fix your problem.

Cheers!

Hey BitWhisk, I don’t know why I didn’t think about this before, but bill gator would actually make a great campaign manager... given that he is wearing a signature of one of your competitors lol. But he is extremely thorough and I have no doubt that he would be able to provide you with some quality management and even better reviews of participants.

Lol, sorry bill, if you don’t have the time or desire, but hey... I’m calling it like I see it!

BitWhisk, I’ve readded your site to my bookmarks; I have no issues with tumbling small amounts of coins until you can gain some reputation here. Again, kudos for handling this in a swift manner.

Question: Give a short summary on bitcoind.

Answer : bitcoind stands for "Bitcoin Daemon" where a daemon is any computer process which runs in the background ("service" in Windows terminology). Short conclusion right?  Grin

You’ve stated what bitcoind means, but not what it is or its function. Embellish a tad bit more on your answer (very simple, yet conclusive) and you’ll get a merit from me!
474  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitWhisk.io ✦ Bitcoin mixing service ✦ Fast, Secure, Awesome! on: March 29, 2018, 08:04:29 PM
I hate to bring negativity to your service announcement, but I am one of the reviewers that have vouched for your service, as can be seen in the quote in your original post.

With that said, I must offer full disclosure and state that after I have seen your signature campaign and the bad actor that you've chosen to manage it, I have removed you from my list of trusted mixers. Please reference this quote from another one of your topics:

Although we are going a bit off-topic here, I feel it's still valid, as this is an evaluation thread for a service/site that you wanted feedback for.

Signature campaigns are effective, yes. But they are only as effective as the users that are a part of that campaign. Generally speaking, you're not going to find much use for 25 users to be a part of your campaign if the majority of them are 3rd-world shitposters that spam the wrong parts of the forum. The areas in which your participants post need to target your services. Chance are that Bitcoin Discussion doesn't warrant the need to display your ad, as it's generally filled with 3rd-world sig spammers who don't see a value in mixing coins, as their only goal is to cash out their earnings every week.

Honestly, if I were you, I would kill your signature campaign, and start a thread where you're looking to find [up to] 10 substantial members of this forum that you're willing to pay. Given that you're spending about 0.4BTC for two weeks, I'd rather take that and offer 0.01BTC per week for a month for up to 10 participants. Full Member and up only.

Mixers are very important to privacy, and with the shutdown of BitMixer, we've been seeing a lot popping up... Given that your UI is so clean, and your userflow is excellent, there's no reason why you shouldn't be one of the top competing mixers in this space. But perception is everything. Everything.

Unfortunately, after seeing that you hired a campaign manager without doing your homework has actually damaged my perception of your company. All of a sudden, it doesn't feel reputable or trustworthy, but rather one that seems like it will do anything to get the word out, even if that means hiring the bad actors in the crypto world that don't have any integrity. You simply cannot associate yourself with these types of members of the crypto world.

Aww, shit, BitWhisk, I had so much hope for you, but actions mean everything here, and I hate to say that you haven't made the right ones so far, other than this thread.

Honestly, this will go to show how quick you can damage your own reputation here; once you get past all the sig spammers and 3rd world shitposters, we actually are a very tight community who care deeply about not just this forum, but about Bitcoin as a whole. I wish you would have done more research before entering this space.

And I can honestly say that I believe if you don't rectify your situation with having a non-trusted member host your signature campaign, you are only shooting yourself in the foot. If I may be honest, I would have considered bankrolling a portion of your reserve if it weren't for that major mistake that you've made. Now? I won't even think about it twice.

Sorry, but until your signature campaign is done, can you please remove my review from the top post? I do not want to be associated with a company that associates with known scammers. Thank you.

Edit: OP has dealt with this matter swiftly. Please continue with leaving my review in tact. Kudos!

The selfMod bit will now be permanently cleared when a non-mod moves a topic into a section which doesn't allow selfMod.

Awesome!, Glad to see it taken care of so fast

Please take a look at this thread concerning a major problem with self-moderation: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2929216.0

I second this. These forums are a great marketplace that displays premium placement in organic search results. I am coming across more and more newbies who have registered accounts here solely to post that they have been scammed by the types of users who lock their self-moderated threads. When asked why they didn't create an account before dealing with a seller here, they've simply answered that they found the post from a Google search and didn't feel the necessity to create an account.

My recommendations on this would be to either disallow the feature of self-moderating threads in the Marketplace section, or to display Default Trust for all users, including those that are not logged in.

Hi Joe,

I updated my application. I didn't see that you needed the Google Spreadsheet form until now. I'm not sure if that rule changed happened before/after the deadline had passed... Am I still in this round?

The scoring formula is just a weighted average based on the 4 criteria’s that I grade when reviewing users’s posts

I don't mean to put you on the spot by any means, but are the criteria something you are willing to make public, or at the very least share with me in confidence? I'm very interested in hearing what these are. I'm not sure if you are open to negotiation on these criteria in the hopes to improve them; not that there is anything wrong with them, but there is always room for improvement. I was unaware that you had official criteria, and I feel like they may assist me in meriting posts, or figuring out which deserve it.

I have the major criteria on the spreadsheets in the top right corner, but those are just high-level that don't go into too much detail. I'm mainly looking for the users' ability to stay on topic while being contributive as heavily weighted scores, while the ability to speak proper English is a lower-weighted score. Forum meta (quotes, wall texts, references, links) is a small factor into the overall score, as is the forum spread (posting in multiple sections throughout the forums). I also adjust scores based on the post placement by the participants: If a participant is mainly posting in megathreads or threads (in themselves) that do not provide substance to the forums (generally in Bitcoin/Altcoin Discussion or Speculation), the user gets penalized for it. If it's obvious that a user feels more comfortable in a few subcategories and displays the ability to portray their expertise in a few select subs, they won't get penalized too much for not visiting a good spread of subs.

When I choose posts that I deem to be meritorious, I select posts that I feel are contributive to (a) the topic, (b) the forums, (c) the Bitcoin/crypto industry and/or (d) the user has put a good amount of above-average thought into the post.

I hope this helps answer some of your questions!

Would like to reserve 2 merits for this week for Place 2. Please update the OP with the same. Smiley

Done, thank you!
