4701  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just because a user has Trust on another website does not make them trusted here on: February 17, 2020, 12:53:29 PM
It's always advisable to use an escrow, especially when you're new here and have not had a personal encounter with the users here, and can only go by the remarks on their trust score. If you're an old member and have had interactions with different users, you can use your own criteria to decide who to trust and with what.
I will not advise one to simply use the feedback to enter trades. Review the account behavior and also the feedbacks to determine which is legitimate.
4702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don't be a hypocrite and admit that you are a gambler on: February 17, 2020, 09:15:26 AM
I regularly say it, almost every decision we make is a gamble, but people assume it is applicable only when money is invested, in which case it still covers more than the conventional gambling definition.
A common one which would be true for most of the user here is trading. If you trade currencies that you have no way of telling the direction it would go, you are engaged in some sort of gambling. This applies to long-term traders as well. And it can also be a form of addiction.
4703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: February 17, 2020, 09:10:58 AM
Sky sports gave Chelsea a 50% chance to win the game against Manchester United, a draw 27%. There is a huge rivalry between both teams and even though there is a gap between both teams, it's a very difficult match to predict. The Reds has on more than a couple of occasions this season pulled up brilliant performances against the top teams.
I would probably combine a Chelsea victory with the two matches from tomorrows UCL match (yet to decide my prediction).
4704  Other / Meta / Re: How to do private giveaways on: February 17, 2020, 08:43:43 AM
For point 1, is this way effective enough sir? I mean that you will be a bit busy to receive lots of PMs by implementing this step.
Theymos hinted that there haven't been lots of interests in such private giveaways, and possibly he/she is not expecting applications which will be more then he can handle. If it does become so, I'm guessing there would be a contingency plan to cover for it.

I'm not sure that anyone will ask to set up this sort of giveaway, but I wanted to mention the possibility. If more than a few people ask me to set these up, I'll probably make it so that anyone can set them up themselves.

This feature would surely improve privacy on the forum if it is utilized. I have once mentally declined participation in a contest cause it could potentially compromise my identity and location on the forum.
4705  Other / Meta / Re: Could we add the BUMP feature to the Beginners & Help section? on: February 17, 2020, 08:32:04 AM
It depends on what you mean by bump feature.
Bump score was integrated into the
- Service Announcements
 - Announcements (Altcoins)
 - Tokens (Altcoins)
 - Bounties (Altcoins)
...to stop users from using a paid service to promote their platforms.
Such a feature is not needed in the Beginner's and Help Section. The bump system is not being abused as it is now. Anyone can bump any post they find useful
I just know that there is a lot of useful information there. You just have to really dig through some of the shitposts to find it!
It seems like you're suggesting a recommendation feature which would suggest quality posts to users. This has been requested before (even by myself) and I've been made to see reasons against it.
It would disrupt the layout of the forum and could potentially lead to more discussions on the algorithm being used to select the best posts to recommend.
4706  Economy / Reputation / Re: Entrust or distrust for this? on: February 16, 2020, 04:36:56 PM
I agree, For scammers and for forum rule breakers  Grin (For me)
One doesn't necessarily have to be a scammer or a rule breaker to be tagged. The trust system can be applied in a variety of situations and is meant to serve as a pointer or suggestion to guide those who would interact with that account.

A user can be tagged for being delusional and spreading false information. A user can also be tagged for an attempt at impersonating another user. A hacked account can (should) as well be tagged
Any situation where you feel a remark about a member should be left to give the general forum an idea about the individual, a tag can be used (positive, neutral or negative)
4707  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price exceeds $10,000 on Feb 10th … on-chain and off-chain growth positive on: February 16, 2020, 04:25:02 PM
It fell quickly back below the $10,000 mark, but held off at  a range of -$100 to -$300. That can not be considered s crash. According to CMC it currently sits at; $9868, and it's fluctuating very quickly.

It would be great if we can build a temporary support level at about $9800 (or slightly higher or lower).
Stable levels at these prices would attract more investors and increase the number of transactions let to more development both on and off chain.
4708  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: English Premier League Season: 2019/2020 on: February 16, 2020, 04:04:15 PM
Aston Villa 2-1 Tottenham
Arsenal 3-1 Newcastle
It was bold backing Aston Villa to come out with the victory, but they performed very well and made a good account for themselves, who have gotten a point at least from the match, but mistakes are very easily punished and that's what happened.
Arsenal face Newcastle and ironically, both teams are level on number of points after equal number of games played. Hopefully, they can put the home struggles they experienced under Emery further behind them and put up a good performance in front of their home crowd.
4709  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: February 16, 2020, 04:00:00 PM
Son Heung-min just scored his second goal of the match and Tottenham's third in the 90th minute as they take the lead for the second time. And that should seal the victory for Spurs.
This victory would see them move into 5th place just above Sheffield United. And that would be a UCL spot considering the ban on Man City.
4710  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: February 15, 2020, 09:57:09 PM
Getafe were really impressive playing against Barcelona away from home. If they can keep their form up, then they could really hold onto a top four spot until the end of the season.
Setien should be happy with the win against one of the best placed teams of the league this season. Their attention would be gradually shifting to the UEFA champions league clash with Napoli. This may be the best time to face the Italian side as Barcelona seek revenge on the humiliating exit from the UCL about two years ago.
4711  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: February 15, 2020, 09:45:57 PM
This would be a wrong move as the next games in Champions League are coming.
Not necessarily so, some players perform best when they are playing week in and week out. Look at the two of you of players of this generation; Messi and Ronaldo. They rarely miss any game but still remain fit come up with the best numbers and seem to somehow about injuries.
Rotating players is of course necessary, especially when the fixtures are piling up like they are now. However, it's not the only applicable strategy.
4712  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BURNING POSTING - ASK TO KNOW on: February 15, 2020, 03:56:33 PM
If you see someone posting low-quality content but it does not violate BTT forum rules, report it to the campaign manager (he is the only one that determines the quality of the posts.)
Campaign managers are charged not to accept low quality posts to count for payment in their campaigns. But it actually does violate the forum rules. Low quality and off topic posts which contribute nothing to a discussion should be reported to the moderators and deleted on site.
Campaign managers can only refuse to accept the post, but it remains up there and still affects the quality of posts  on the forum.
4713  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: February 15, 2020, 03:15:34 PM
It would be better to sack the administration and install a transitional one from the board themselves until the issue is solved while allowing the players to play as a team.
AFAIK, UEFA would not be acting within the ambits of their authority if they attempt to sack the administration. The club is a business and money changes hands for shares to be bought, they can not interfere in the personal business of the club.
It's a bit heavy-handed but restricting them from competing in the UEFA champions league is one of the only ways they can be penalized for their actions, it's the effect on the players is ineluctable.
It's similar to when the club is instructed to okay behind closed doors, it reduces revenues from ticket sales, which affects the management, but also restricts fans from watching their favorite team play.
4714  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can bitcoin Cross $20,000 By the end of 2020? on: February 15, 2020, 02:17:26 PM
YES, IT CAN! However, I do not think that it would. $20,000 before the end of the year falls within the realms of possibilities. The bitcoin halving later this year could also be significant, but I do not see it's the effect influencing the price in that direction before the end is the year.
2021 should be the year bitcoin skyrockets.

This is just my opinion and should not be taken as a financial advise
4715  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: After losing did you feel you must return the soonest to win back your losses? on: February 14, 2020, 05:32:47 PM
This is a part of the human nature. It applies not only to the conventional gambling, but also other forms of gambling like trading, or investing or even in real life situations. A trader would want to quickly recover from a loss quickly and this usually results in more losses.
A striker which misses a golden opportunity would be desperate to convert the next chance that comes their way.
This feeling if desperation makes one careless and should be controlled in order to be successful in gambling.
4716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: February 14, 2020, 04:16:09 PM
...
Valencia would be keen on climbing into the top four with a victory later today, even if it lasts for only a few hours.
I think the game between the 2nd and 3rd placed teams in the league, Barcelona vs Getafe could be in contention for the toughest fixture of the matchweek.
Barcelona cannot afford any slip ups and I do not expect any from them or Real Madrid.
4717  Other / Meta / Re: A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. on: February 13, 2020, 01:36:47 PM
- username of a moderator who made the deletion (for an easier contact),
- add a link to the thread from which post was deleted (to make it easier to find),
- add an annotation in the thread from which post was deleted,
- add the reasons for deletion.
I do not support including the name of the moderator who deleted the post for a number or reasons. In peculiar cases where the relevance of a post is debatable it may need further discussions, but majority of deleted posts are worthy of the action, and including the name if the mods could expose them to lots of backlash and unsolicited PMs, especially those that operate in the spam filled boards.
AFAIK, the name of the mods who handles any action on the forum (ban, post deletion,of nuking) is not made public to avoid personalizing the decisions they make.

I have no issues with the second and third suggestions.

The fourth however would be too bulky to handle.
4718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: February 13, 2020, 05:13:14 AM
It's going to be difficult to choose between Mane and Virgil who's the better player for Liverpool,
Mane is an outstanding striker and Mohamed Salah has an important role in the match.
I must say Roberto Firmino is one of the most underrated players for Liverpool so far this season. He is an invaluable player and his contributions especially in away fixtures has helped Liverpool to pick up vital points on the road and also the Club World Cup.
Not taking anything away from the rest of the players, there are six many stand out performers as is expected in the squad of potential league champions.
4719  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: February 13, 2020, 05:04:12 AM
Athletic Bilbao - Granada CF

I bet on Athletic Bilbao will win.
They eventually cane out victorious with a goal from one of their long serving players; Iker Munian, with a strike just before the break. The also dominated majority of the tie as we look towards the return fixture.
Before that, we have the second semi-final fixture being played between Real Sociedad and Mirandes later today. Sociedad would be expected to win, but football is unpredictable.
4720  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Fake Chainlink airdrop. they will steal your wallet's private key. on: February 12, 2020, 12:04:39 PM
I doubt anyone really falls for scam like this anymore. One who holds an amount of cryptocurrency should have basic knowledge about managing it, and one of them is never to divulge your private keys to a third party, or use an address which you do not own the private keys to as a means of storing funds.
The scammers might gef a couple of private keys, but u think the wallets would hold little of no funds in them.

Also, do not click on unsolicited links, download apps or grant certain permissions to some apps on your device.
