Mine shows a very small difference... so small that I'm not sure if I'm just remembering incorrectly.
I thought I had 9.98 btc, but my balance is showing as 9.8 btc.

as we all know mt gox is just one of many exchanges of bitcoins and no more...
yet this widespread anger with mt gox exposes that bitcoins is just a hanger-on to u.s. dollars, and cannot survive on its own.
Or maybe just that people's bitcoins are tied up in it, meaning they can't spend them? That aspect has nothing to do with USD.

Just an observation; In the original image the pointer is clearly touching the paper, but doesn't appear to touch in any of the bitcoin versions (the pointer's shadow doesn't fully connect with the end of the pointer).

Apparently I need to frequent Slashdot?
Maybe not... 99% of Slashdotters think Bitcoin is scam/pyramid/stupid idea.

slashdot spin off
Likewise, but for the most part I thought I came in off the 'USD parity' article this year... but recently something triggered in my memory and I *really* vaguely remember seeing the very first Slashdot article about it (when it would have been < $0.04) and didn't get into it.

How about 10 nanocoins?
I can't believe I had to get to page 3 of this thread before someone suggested this... finally, thank you, we have a winner.

For people who are still waiting, make sure you keep an eye on your junk mail folder... my (acceptance) email landed there, even though previous Mt Gox emails made it to my inbox.

Done.
And in record time too! (5 weeks is a record isn't it?) Thanks though.

How is that an 'attack'? Isn't it basically just someone mining a lot of coins?
it`s attack against all honest miners! Not precisely, it's an attack against the owners of the infected machines. Yeah, what I meant was "How is that an attack on 'the bitcoin net'"? It's not.

Did anyone find their acceptance/rejection letter in the junk mail folder?
I'm using a very old email account that gets hundreds of spams a day, so I'm a little worried it'll get buried or that I've mistakenly deleted it already.

And there's a simple reason why: You don't get paid in Bitcoins!
Some people on this board most definitely do get paid in Bitcoins for most if not all of their wage.

I just bought 5, but didn't see anywhere to give you my bitcoin address... will PM you now.

Only 4 hours until round starts!!
Posting so I can just compare my post time to your post time. Rather than try to convert EST/EST/GMT/UTC. Edit: Okay, if your '4 hours' was accurate, it starts at 18:00 UTC.

As others have alluded to, once Mt Gox re-opens prices are going to go nuts.
I reckon there are so many people that have no idea if the reopening will mean prices drop sharply or skyrocket, that it will likely swing wildly.

I'll guess 2 or 3 weeks, and that's pretty much in line with what I'd prefer too. If no-one wants the $900 or so in my AlertPay account, I'll have to withdraw it and get it into an exchange somehow, that'll take time

Are you looking to buy anything in particular?
Well so far I plan to buy some snacks from bitmunchies. But if anyone has any interesting links to products and services for sale I will be happy to take a look. You could watch this ticker for ideas: http://searchbitcoin.com
