-snip-
To rectify the problem, all that FortuneJack needs to do is provide the to-be-generated server seed in hashed form before any user input. This makes sure that the casino side is not able to change the results in their favor reliably.

Exactly! This can be easily achieved by having two separate buttons to change 'Client Seed' and 'Server Seed'. If player wants to change the 'Client Seed', it shouldn't change the Server Seed too. Reveal the current Server Seed and generate new one only when player clicks 'Change Server Seed' button. That's how provably fair system should work.

My maths tell me swogerino was just 0.00001 BTC short. Am I missing anything here?

I have found issue in FortuneJack implementation and reported here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=774929.msg55059963#msg55059963

Please have a close look on this thread as this can have affect on FortuneJack's ratings as fair casino.

Concern about Provably Fair Implementation on FortuneJack - Red Flag

I was thinking to create a new thread about this but I thought clearing here would be better before moving forward. So I am currently on a spree of checking Provably Fair Implementation on number of Crypto Casinos. Today, I was checking FortuneJack's implementation and there is clearly a flaw, a very big flaw actually.

Here's the screen where user can change client seed before placing bet:

You can see that the Server Seed (hashed) is = c94af6c5fcbebd0387485878a8edce6e80b1ce97c4f1daf165c63c48e40f94a6
Client Seed is = dbfombofbmofmbfoomd

Now I am changing the client seed:

Now I have set client seed to iamnowchangingtheclientseed
But here comes the catch, server seed is changed too!
New Server Seed (hashed) is bf795a8918921eec5c086029e2218469e58ae00eb1769f70318e54e9d8fd4529

If Casino is changing Server Seed after player has changed 'Client Seed' then there's a possibility that casino is manipulating the result. The whole purpose of Provably Fair system is ensure that Casino is not in power to change Server Seed after client seed is changed.

Looking for an explanation from FortuneJack representative on this.

485  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Archer v. Coinbase "Not your keys, Not your coins" on: August 24, 2020, 03:47:58 PM
I think that it's shady that they kept his BTG because we don't know if those coins were or weren't sold by coinbase. It would be free money for the company if they were to take those coins at any point and sell them without telling their clients. We're talking about millions of USD here not just this guy's coins.
At the same time if they were forced to fork BTG by court they'd have to install the software for every single BItcoin fork possibly compromising their security. People would start to demand Coinbase pays them their Bitcoin God or whatever...

I don't see Coinbase or any centralized exchange liable to pay all forked coins, no matter what they do with forked coins. Forks like Bitcoin Gold (BTG) have zero impact on Bitcoin and its market. Go and conduct quick survey on Twitter and ask 'which coin do people consider real bitcoin'? Bet me, BTG won't get even 1 vote in hundred. Also, to pay the forked coins to the users, Exchange have to integrate forked coin on their platform which indirectly imply that Exchange is supporting that coin.

Also, not to forget, Coinbase has clearly stated in ToS:
Quote
5.11 Advanced Protocols. Unless specifically announced on the Site or via an official public statement of Coinbase, we do not support metacoins, coloured coins, side chains, or other derivative, enhanced, or forked protocols, tokens, or coins which supplement or interact with a Digital Currency we support (collectively, "Advanced Protocols"). You should not use your Coinbase Account to attempt to receive, request, send, store, or engage in any other type of transaction involving an Advanced Protocol. Our platform is not configured to detect and/or secure Advanced Protocol transactions.

If you don't want all of that kyc, find a gambling platform that does not require you to do so.

Yeah! There are tons of Bitcoin Gambling platform that don't require KYC for amounts like $200 or even more. I have gambled 10 times the amount on casinos like SportsBet.io and Stake and didn't have to face KYC drama at all.

Please help me understand where I went wrong.  Huh

Is there something I'm missing here ?

Simplex is shit service. Don't use such services which provide instant buying using Debit/Credit Cards. First, they charge insanely huge fees. Second, they connect payment to card services like VISA/MasterCard (not directly to bank account). This may cause serious problem if your bank has limitations on foreign remittances.

It is better to use either Local Exchanges from your country where you can easily buy bitcoins with bank account and fees is less than 1% on such platforms. Alternatively to maintain complete privacy, you can use P2P Exchanges as suggested by many above. In P2P service, seller sends bitcoins to Exchange which is acting as an escrow. Then, you send money to seller's bank account. Seller confirms that he received the payment and finally Exchange releases bitcoins in your account. No one will know the purpose of sending money to seller's account.

Hi

Is this free for all tournament or you have to do some requirements to participate /get password ?
I would like to join.

my SwC nick: J-i-n-x

You should have participated in at least one of the 8 qualifiers in order to play losers' tournaments.

While to play Championship, you should have accumulated enough points in order to make to the top 9.

Both of the tonight tournaments are exclusive and not open for new participants.
489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: August 22, 2020, 03:24:30 PM
Comparing two Semi-finals performances, PSG surely look more appealing than Bayern as far as conviction is concerned. Bayern is no doubt a stronger team but PSG is more inclined towards winning the cup.

Only weak link in PSG lineup is midfield but Veratti is now fit and ready to play for 90 minutes. With him, Parades and Marquinhos in midfield, PSG can finally play as single unit. Defences of both teams are equally good but Forward line is where PSG can surprise Bayern. Bayern usually maintain high-line and that's where teams can catch them. With pace of Mbappe and Neymar, PSG can get couple of goals on counter which would be enough imo.
490  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you make `Trading` profitable? on: August 22, 2020, 03:10:13 PM
Let me rephrase my question again for better understanding: Which signals, what techniques, which movement do you consider while making selling decisions so that you always make best possible profit in the given scenario? If I chose right time to sell my futures, I would have made 10 times more profit.

You're not in this alone as I'm still finding it difficult to get my predictions right too either I'm some Satoshi late to buying or some Satoshi early to selling. Late week I bought some coins very late and sold very early too. This trade wasn't a profitable one but since I sold too early i missed out on cutting my lost by almost 20%. Looking at the coin now it's almost -150% down which is a relief since assuming I decided to hold unto my investment, I would have made more lost then what I exited the market with.

Can I know what do you mean by decline of 150%?

Say, something worth $100 and we say it is increased by 150% then the thing worth $250.

But what would be the value if it declines by 150%?

I use the system where decline cannot be more than 100% but I have seen several people using negative percentage more than 100%, how this system works?

492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining process - SHA256 - Probability on: August 21, 2020, 06:35:48 PM

I would like to get your opinion on the following reasoning to define the number of tries needed to find the solution to a PoW problem at 95%.

Consider a function SHA(256), the probability that this function contains just one zero is (1/16). Since the latter must be at the hash goal, the probability that it is at the very beginning is 1/64.
In conclusion the probability that function SHA(256) returns a hash containing a zero at the very beginning is (1/64*16)=1/1024
If the PoW difficulty requires C zero consequential the probability becomes (1/1024)^c

Do you think it is correct ?

Nope! Your assumption about Block Hash is wrong. Let me give you a detailed view on how it is really calculated:

Your current assumption is this (correct me if I am wrong): In order to block the mine, miner needs to find a hash having 'n' number of preceding zeros. Since the probability of finding a hash starting with '0' is 1 in 1024, the probability to find a block having 'n' preceding zeroes is 1 in (1/1024)n, right?

However, this is not how block hash is found by the miners. Finding block hash is nothing but finding a value which is less than the target value. Target value is adjusted after every 2,016 blocks. Current difficulty is:

0x000000000000000000109bac0000000000000000000000000000000000000000 (hexadecimal form)
or
1590739304116800001454600275103718494518067345886281728 (decimal/integer number)

Now in order to find the block hash, you need to find an integer value less than the above number. But this is not very simple because you need to include 6 values in your computation:
> Version
> Hash of previous block
> Merkle Root
> Time of mining
> Bits (difficulty/current target in compact form)
> Nonce (an incrementing number)

Now let's take an example, say Block: 644,731

For block 644,731, we have:
Version = 20400000 (hexadecimal)
Hash of Previous Block = 000000000000000000083d157a8a2a589a74fc2f7b91245cb3a415c23d7cc79a
Merkle Root = 9453cfc708a1cc84f3f36c2bae68202b03ad2866bb02da511d7e603a4e9d1fd1
Time = 16:42:15 as per GMT
Bits = 386,964,396 (decimal)
Nonce = 2035916310 (decimal)

Converting everything in hexadecimal form (little-endian), we will have following value,
(version+previousHash+merkleRoot+Time+Bits+Nonce):

0x000040209ac77c3dc215a4b35c24917b2ffc749a582a8a7a153d08000000000000000000d11f9 d4e3a607e1d51da02bb6628ad032b2068ae2b6cf3f384cca108c7cf539467f93f5fac9b1017169e 5979

The final step involves performing SHA-256 hashing twice on the above value and the result will be:
811802676f41d6aff67ad767517c466c4c8d3b87c81009000000000000000000

Converting it in little-endian, we have:
0000000000000000000910c8873b8d4c6c467c5167d77af6afd6416f67021881 which will become block hash of the block.

Now you can compare,
Target Value = 0x000000000000000000109bac0000000000000000000000000000000000000000 or 1590739304116800001454600275103718494518067345886281728

Block Hash (644,731) = 0000000000000000000910c8873b8d4c6c467c5167d77af6afd6416f67021881 or 868308124812842907393685749016650546999869456114653313

Since 868308124812842907393685749016650546999869456114653313 is smaller than 1590739304116800001454600275103718494518067345886281728, it is accepted block hash.

494  Economy / Economics / Re: What Role Will Crypto Play During ‘The Great Reset?’ on: August 20, 2020, 03:52:21 PM
As I was searching through the website, I wasn't able to understand the motive behind, `The Great Reset` completely until I stumbled upon the following lines:

Quote
“The Great Reset” is a commitment to jointly and urgently build the foundations of our economic and social system for a more fair, sustainable and resilient future.
It requires a new social contract centred on human dignity, social justice and where societal progress does not fall behind economic development.

So the main focus of `The Great Reset` initiative is not just bringing the global economy back on its feet but doing so by taking necessary steps so that measures remain just and fair from societal point of view. Giving away subsidy and cheap loans to business houses, printing more currency, etc etc; these steps are good from economical point-of-view but what about labors and workers? Will the benefits of these steps reach the end worker? I doubt that.

Cryptocurrencies have potential to play a big role in this since their value can't be negatively manipulated by issuing new units. However, in past 10 years cryptocurrencies have failed significantly in one thing: rather than bringing existing economy on blockchain, cryptocurrencies are creating new economy which is parallel to our traditional economy. I don't see two mingling each other in near future which in my opinion is making cryptocurrencies useless for solving real-life economical problems arose in traditional economy based on fiat money.
495  Local / India / Re: GoSats - An Attempt to Promote Bitcoin in India (What's your views guys?) on: August 18, 2020, 06:34:48 PM
The website doesnt't speak of any promoter or developer. Seems like they are looking for anonymity. The domain registrant is some "Internet computer bureau limited" which is of course a made-up name. The registration address belongs to something called Sure Limited of Diego Gracia. Diego Gracia is famous to most Indians for the US base in the Indian ocean. It was recently in news during the China standoff.

There isn;t much information on Sure Ltd except the name of a board member who is supposedly in Bahrain Telecom and goes by the name Ihab Anwar.

Do you guys think that a website or service of this kind should have so many layers of obfuscation?? For reference, compare this with the open mention of the Purse.io team.

Where did you find those details? I checked on Whois and every website shows that the registrant is 'Saffron Technologies Pte Ltd.'. By digging a little, I found out that this company is registered in Singapore. I talked to one of the representative of GoSats team on Telegram and he confirmed that Saffron Technologies is the parent company of GoSats.

I really liked the Arbitrage Tracking Tool! This is first of its kind tool I have seen in the Indian market. On top of that, it's free and real-time. Will give it a try and see if I could make some money with it or not.

Overall, site seems nice price tracker for Indian Market. Nice interface to get the quick glimpse of Indian Crypto Market in single go.

But, there are some issues that these guys need to work on. It is not loading properly, I am using a broadband service and I do not think my internet speed is to be blamed.

Attaching the image.

Logos loaded for me instantly. Site is running fast and smooth on my end.
497  Local / India / GoSats - An Attempt to Promote Bitcoin in India (What's your views guys?) on: August 17, 2020, 04:11:11 PM
So I came across this website on Telegram and found it interesting: GoSats

This site is planning to start a service with which you can shop online on various merchant sites and receive cashback in the form of bitcoins. It is similar to using apps like PhonePe or Google Pay except the fact that you will receive real bitcoins as cashback instead of those 'Better luck next time' scratch cards. Cheesy

You can keep on stacking bitcoins on every transaction and can send that to your friends, family via site. Also they are planning to launch a tool which will provide instant liquidity to other altcoins.

In my view, it is good attempt to promote bitcoin in India as people can get their first units of bitcoin absolutely free. However, it would be nice if site allows people to shop with bitcoins too (which I don't think it will implement). What's your take on this guys?

PS: Website is not launched yet but accepting pre-signups and offering small bonuses in bitcoin upto 0.025 BTC
PS: This is not paid-promo or anything. I am just trying to create buzz because I think such services are good for Indian domain.

Ah! I think I am out! Steamtyme and Improved already made to the finals. Iv4n won't clear on average even if he wins the tournament tonight so Hhampuz will be the third one. I will most probably end on 10th or 11th spot. Bad luck!
