503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A creative way to introduce BTC to newcomers on: August 27, 2023, 01:46:20 AM
There are many ways to introduce people to bitcoin - one of them is through media like videos.
Content creators are sometimes much better at presenting bitcoins to people regardless of their basic knowledge - but either way you should be one to get interested.

Anyways - it's a good video that deserves appreciation instead of only nice words. Good job, man.
It's already proven that education and information retention is higher when you incorporate videos or visuals in education so it's no-brainer that education combined with entertainment and visuals is going to be a good idea. Content creators are like that because they know what's getting the engagement so they make sure that they can get the attention of people more and with those in mind, they will be able to make more money out of their videos since there's more engagement which is a win-win.

504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I think we need to start asking people if...... on: August 26, 2023, 07:05:17 AM
This would probably depend on where you're from, in my country, there's not a lot of interest in cryptocurrency or bitcoin so even if you advertise that your business accepts bitcoin, it's not getting that much attention, most of the population is pretty old-fashioned when it comes to mode of payments in my country so I don't know if it's worth to ask maybe in a more developed cities in my country, I might be able to find one, take my testimony with a grain of salt though, it's my experience and your experience might be different.

I tried to promote - long ago - bitcoin to friends and colleagues. Most have dismissed it almost instantly. Some few still remember of that. One envies me. Another one still tries - after so many years - to explain me the price is manipulated and it's all a scam.

But nowadays the paradigm has changed and many people - including me - prefer to not brag about bitcoin, no matter how big or small the amount is, to avoid unnecessary hassle with burglars or worse.
So... yeah..  Sad
Now I want to know what happened to the people that you've mentioned, seems to me like you've got the last laugh out of them but I'm not satisfied with that, I want to know what's happened to them. Totally with you about being lowkey about owning bitcoin, nothing good comes out of bragging your bitcoin and those that would probably see your bitcoin will only be interested until the conversation is over.

506  Economy / Goods / Re: Buy Movie Rights for 0.4 BTC or 6 ETH on: August 26, 2023, 01:27:01 AM
No title for the film was even presented so how do we even know that it's the real deal and I am sure that that's not how you sell film rights, doesn't it involve legal processes? And shouldn't the buyer be able to at the least read the script or something like that to see if it's worth buying the rights?
507  Other / Meta / Re: Request: Disable merits in the Wall Observer thread on: August 24, 2023, 08:49:14 AM
I think merit farming should be more moderated, so it's better to report individuals who do that and let moderators check and issue a warning/punishment rather than disabling merits in a whole thread. There are many good and informational posts there so I think they shouldn't be discredited because of others.

I've seen a lot of merit farms in local boards/threads that accumulate even more merits and I haven't seen any action taken. It is probably because it would be hard to moderate every single thread and user manually so the system can't really be accurate and ideal.
How can that be enforced though, I don't know much about stuff regarding merit farms but there are a lot of MS that have threads that they open to share your posts that you think is worth the merit and it just so happens that there are some people that's active on posting on those threads so no one can really blame them if they get chosen to get those merits.
508  Economy / Economics / Re: What Actually Drives People/Gov to Adopt New and Bold Decisions on: August 24, 2023, 06:53:38 AM
I think that these two have pretty much the same reason that drives them to adopt new things which is benefit of the change to them, the only difference I think is that the government needs to make sure that to some degree, the benefit should be cost efficient and that it can line their pockets well if they're the corrupt kind. Now others say it's money and power or something tangible but I think it all boils down to just benefits imo, it's not worth adopting or embracing if we know that it's not going benefit us right?
509  Economy / Economics / Re: My wealth plan for next 3 years on: August 24, 2023, 04:20:42 AM
When you laid out this plan I hope you were prepared for 7 pages worth of harsh criticism, from economists to bitcoin maxis and enthusiasts alike hahahha. Your strategy was not very well laid out if this plan goes sideways on you. For your sake I hope it goes well because from what I can tell your mind is made up
It's not well thought out and given that there's no good explanation as to why OP will do what he's planning, I am certain to a degree that it's going to be a failure or that there's going to be impossibilities that will happen along the way. I agree that it's going to go sideways, not to mention that most well laid out plans out there face obstacles that is not in the scope of their plans so they have a hard time dealing with that obstacle let alone something like this, unless OP is disciplined to follow this janky plan to the t then there's a possibility that it might work for OP.
510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC will hit new high, as crypto bull billionaire predict on: August 24, 2023, 02:53:31 AM
You know just because a "crypto bull billionaire" predicted that the price will hit new high soon, doesn't mean it going to hit, right? All he is trying to do is convince people that the price will hit a new all time high so people start FOMOing and start investing right away. No crypto billionaire in the world can exactly predict when the price is going to skyrocket or hit a new all time high. You will notice that almost all known "crypto billionaires" are always optimistic about the price in the upcoming days.
Well, the point isn't to take their prediction at face value, the point is that the market sentiment is still on the positive side and that the big names in cryptocurrency space still trusts bitcoin which enforces a wave of fanatics to reaffirm their belief that bitcoin will still be able to get to a new ATH. And it's not like it's a big deal that they're saying these stuff, if you don't like what they're saying then don't believe it, they're just words.
511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the launch of $350M crypto mining centre in Oman make a difference? on: August 24, 2023, 01:37:02 AM
Oman has a warm desert climate and along the coast you will experience great humidity in summer. Temperatures during summer may exceed 50 degrees Celsius, so keeping those miners running.... will be costing them a fortune.

Yes, night temperatures might be a lot cooler, but miners have to run 24/7 to be profitable. I see a lot of these Oil rich nations are diversifying into other projects that are not linked to oil.... possibly a backup option when the oil runs out.  Roll Eyes
I think that they might be able to offset the cooling system during the day since the temperature drop during the night would be a factor to their cooling system, I think it's stupid of them to not utilize or integrate that into their system. And if we're talking about electricity, I think they have a pretty low expense on that especially as an oil rich country. And also, oil won't run out anytime soon, that's a bullshit created by the scientists that Rockefeller hired to create the illusion that oil is a precious resources and that it's limited so he can have a higher asking price for it.

If you're serious about your intentions, why not buy a copper membership and create business plan for your service and then hire a campaign manager to promote your services, I've seen your posts and you don't seem to be taking your services seriously, I don't know if English is your 2nd language but I am sure that there are ways to connect with people and the way you post, doesn't have an effort so how can people trust you? Especially being a newbie that wants to offer a loan service which is risky when you do it online as you blindly trust Internet stranger, if you really want to conduct a business here, stay in the forum and participate in discussions.
514  Other / Meta / Re: Still kicking. on: August 22, 2023, 09:42:32 AM
It's one of the things I love about Bitcointalk: the freedom to say whatever you want, even about someone who can wipe your account off the board. OP has a sense of humor, I like it.
Let's see how long that freedom's going to be, in my experience, most admins don't really like it when they're the topic of being trolled directly as they have other things to attend to so they just outright blacklist or remove the troll instead of taking the challenge directly which will definitely be time consuming on the admin's part.
515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: August 22, 2023, 08:21:03 AM
My advice to that kid would be that he should follow his mother's wishes and stop gambling, I think there's an unwritten rule that as long as you're still living under the house of your parents, any vices should be under control or not encouraged at all because you're still dependent on them so it's kind of ungrateful of you to waste their money in their own house for you gambling habits.

Boys in my country start gambling from below eighteen years of age and they are gambling day and night in different casino sites. Moreover, in reality, many people are gathering gambling together with money. In fact, their family is very rich, so they are investing here because they have a lot of money. I have seen many people gamble by selling their assets but they are only greedy to make extra money.
That's an indication that there are people in your country that's not ready to be a parent because they've failed to set an example to the children that any vices should not be tolerated. I mean a little disciplinary action should've been done to at least prevent these kids but no, there's no indication that it's been done. I guess, I can't put myself in their shoe so I believe that they're a bad parent but hey, no parent has ever groomed their kid to be a gambler.
516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Irresponsible behavior at the Las Vegas Casino on: August 22, 2023, 06:49:55 AM
~

Las Vegas is a city where everyone can be as if they are not themselves, do things that they would not do in another city, and I mean, of course, ugly behavior.
This city and the people who live in it every day see so much irrational behavior that they will not be surprised at all.

Well, if we talk about the complete madness that is happening there, then Las Vegas residents are much more likely to commit suicide than residents of any other city in the United States. People who visit Las Vegas are twice as likely as tourists who have visited any other city to die due to suicide, and this is terrible.
There are even excursions to places where people kill themselves most often. Where else can you hear about such a shocking phenomenon?
I won't dispute your opinion that in Las Vegas you can do all debauchery that you want but I believe that Florida would take the cake as the state that will see irrational behavior and people wouldn't bat an eye, although it's a matter of perspective, irrational behavior doesn't have any nexus, we just have a bias. Do you have a statistics on that suicide in Las Vegas? That's a serious and bold claim for such a sensitive subject not to mention that's off the topic of what's being talked about in this discussion.
517  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Irresponsible behavior at the Las Vegas Casino on: August 22, 2023, 04:40:47 AM
People show very unstable behaviors when they are drunk or high. Most of them would be ashamed to watch themselves after. It seems very funny also he being at bachelor party. I was like wha? hahah. Casinos would love drunk men partying at their casino for sure, instant profits for casino. But sad for guy I think he may be permanently banned from playing there. We should always drink responsibly and rather gamble without drinking.
It's not really unstable behavior, alcohol lowers inhibitions so that means that people act who they really are when they get drunk, of course they would be ashamed, that's a behavior that they don't like showing to anyone. They don't just love drunk people, they produce those drunk people, Las Vegas casinos iirc have the unlimited alcohol and cocktails as part of the perk of gambling in their establishment for that very reason. I wouldn't say permanently banned, maybe a suspension or something disciplinary, casinos don't like losing players that's likely to spend a lot of money and lose and if he's really banned, I don't think he won't mind because it's a bachelor party anyway.
518  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos games are not made by the casino teams but... on: August 22, 2023, 02:50:47 AM
The question I have in mind is, aren't the developers the ones that should be responsible for any manipulation in the games or it's still possible for the casino team and members to manipulate the game engines?
Yes they are the responsible ones but the casino owners still has the final say when it comes to whether they want the game to be rigged, I mean the developers don't have a stake in the casino if they rigged it without the knowledge of the casino so I believe that the only time it's going to happen that a developer rigs the game is when they've been asked by the owners themselves.
519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cockfighting? on: August 21, 2023, 04:59:41 PM
I think it's close to zero casinos or betting sites that support crypto that do this, western casino owners or most online casino/betting owners really don't want animal cruelty based bloodsport in their sites because it's bad PR for them which is kind of ironic as there are some that offers horse race bet, dog race bet and even MMA bets which are literally cruelty against animals (humans are technically animals). I guess not a lot don't want the fun of cockfighting and the adrenaline pump when you're in the games or watching it.
520  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I a bad person if I manage to avoid taxes? (Hypothetical question) on: August 21, 2023, 03:13:57 PM
~
We must review the level of improvement in public services from the use of tax funds in the previous year, if the government is mandated to carry out functions to help all the needs of the community from the use of taxes then we are considered bad people because we do not contribute to the state. However, the fact is that the government manages taxes at will in order to achieve personal welfare and does not prioritize the needs of the community, the government only facilitates the needs of urban development but the poor are not paid attention to, the level of corruption is increasingly being carried out by qualified officials, corruptors are punished with the lightest punishment even though they have harmed the state and received bonuses remission every year, corruptors get special facilities in prison and are free to leave prison for holidays abroad. So everyone will hesitate to pay taxes if in order to enrich officials, it is better for us to provide taxes to the poor without the help of the government's hand, they may not necessarily realize the use of taxes according to their provisions and functions.
You've just inflated what my point is but thank you for the "much needed" elaboration.
