521  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - Thumbs (Temp NA), 8 Boards (0 left) on: December 15, 2013, 01:28:39 PM
My 8 board has lost USB connection with the Linux box 4 times now, stopping and starting cgminer 3.8.4 doesn't help, I have to reboot the linux box each time.

Cheap USB hub?
No USB hub

The log is full of libusb errors.
522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Deutsche eMark - DEM - altcoin SHA256 POS/POW on: December 15, 2013, 09:33:11 AM
The eMark-Network reached today over 12 TH's so far - kindly thanks for your support and your trust in the eMark!
Any word on getting DEM onto Cryptsy? coinex has been down most of this week which has stopped DEM trade for several days, and the DEM order book on coinex looks broken atm.

Not much point having a 12 TH/s net if you can't do anything with the coins.

Hey erk,

I think most of the trades switched over to coins-e.
And as I see chatbox of coinex more and more people are leaving it.
I don't know why, cause they're doing there best to keep the site up in the reason
of max. growth of customers.
I tried Coins-E, I don't like it, don't like the layout and the fact it took 3 days to get a small amount of DEM deposited there.

I can't login. recovery password not delivered neither to inbox nor junk box. What is going on? I need my coins back.
the same problem
+1

Hope it will be solved in next 72 hrs.
Just question : why was this user access data lost in upgrade? When you upgrade something it is not normal to loose users and their access data - at least that are my experiences. Was something else behind this code upgrade ?
If you read this thread you would already know the reason. The password format in the database was changed as a result of the upgrade, hence the old formatted passwords were incompatible and everyone has to get a new password.

525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MCXNow Shutting down (Temporary) on: December 15, 2013, 04:48:25 AM
Is that actually true? I remember seeing the WDC volume bug that had shown up where the seller volume was listed as BTC but that's about it. It's really a shame about mcxNOW because it was actually run quite well I thought I would wait it out but seriously changed my mind when he started putting in such ridiculous rules, the paybans were annoying enough by themselves lol.

The site was never tested under load, he pulled the plug on it when it was doing only a few hundred BTC of trade per day, who knows what memory leaks and race conditions lay lurking below the surface, C++ is notorious for those. The site lacks basic exchange features such as an audit trail on your trades/deposits/withdrawals, password recovery, a support ticket system etc.

The payban is just another revenue scam like the high trading fees and the upcoming support fees. RS tries to deflect the scam by making out it's revenue for fee share holders, but neglects to mention that he holds 86% of the fee shares, 61% personally, 25% in interest pools which pay the fee share holders of which he is the largest!

So, what did the people who invested millions of dollars worth of BTC in mcxFEE shares get for their money? Sweet fck all, a B-grade site that lacks basic features, and has almost zero trade volume, worth at best a couple of months of full time programmers wages, certainly not millions.

The problem was in pool server which is on the same switch but had no DDoS protection (stratum can not be proxied with cloudflare). We're working on getting that one DDoS protected too now. Sorry for the downtime.
But isn't the pool server part of the mining section, not the exchange?

528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETA][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] CoinEX realtime exchange with ZERO FEES for beta on: December 14, 2013, 08:30:09 AM
Saw this on their twitter page (https://twitter.com/CoinexPW):
CoinEX.pw ‏@CoinexPW  4h
some networking issues right now, carry on

CoinEX.pw ‏@CoinexPW  3h
DDoS saturated our 100mbit port

Yeah, these exchanges don't have a DDoS management strategy, they think that putting Cloudflare in front is all they need to do.
The trick is only allowing wanted traffic to the server and discarding all else, that's is not a 10sec task, it requires strategic planning.

Some ideas are:
Have a separate login server that is not on the same Internet link as the exchange server.
The login server only collects a white list of valid IPs that have passed login. (Only 1 IP per login permitted)

The exchange server on it's own link is protected by a firewall that denies all traffic from any IP except the ones that the login server has white listed.

The number of clients logged in at a time can have a maximum set to keep load off the exchange server, the login server will refuse anymore logins when the maximum is hit.

People that are not logged in can be directed to some cached static pages on a different server that update every now and then instead of the live site.

Is it back down?

It's been "back down" for several hours.

i also get can not find cgminer when running in the correct dir
sudo ./cgminer --hexminerb-voltage 900 --hexminerb-options 16:540
Have a look, see if it's actually there ffs!
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETA][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] CoinEX realtime exchange with ZERO FEES for beta on: December 13, 2013, 11:59:57 PM
Yeah, i am the same. I didn't get any message to my e-mail to reset the password even though i requested it.
Mine eventually came though after half an hour, got 5 copies at once from all my retry attempts, so something was batching them up.

The site needs a page that  summarizes  what orders you have in the system with the ability to cancel them.

Speed seems better though, sell order placement seemed delayed.

I like the collapsible chat box.

The "Don't ask for order confirmation" tick box can't be changed for some reason.

How long is this password recovery email supposed to take? I requested it 20min ago.

may be some info about current timeframe from coinex support, any updates?
The announcement said 72 hours, not too hard to understand.

Is there any pool working?
This pool I could not register becouse is under invitation, is there any other pool?
http://ctompo.dyndns.org/glxmine/public/index.php?page=register

Pool is overloaded with new users, registrations have been disabled. The block chain looked like it forked earlier on today many orphans.

claims to do 59.6 KH/s while using 0.44 W that would be good, but first get the current boards sorted.
Barntech sent ya a pm
Yeah, but you gonna need 16chips to mimic say an R9 290 gpu, and I bet a 16 chip board wont be cheap!

No but it would be a lot more energy efficient.
Yeah, but nobody is going to run them in LTC only mode are they, they will run them in mixed mining mode which pulls close to 5watts per chip, a lot less efficient than the current Drillbit boards.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETA][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] CoinEX realtime exchange with ZERO FEES for beta on: December 13, 2013, 05:16:28 AM

He's talking about deposits, not a mining pool.  Of course, I actually have the same question: are deposits made after the site going down going to come through?  I have to ask because I sent a few deposits over before it was EVER published the site was going down -- note my wording: before it was published that the site was going down...the site was actually down before it was publicized -- and now I have no idea if they're going to hit my account.  This voluntary 3 day outage, while good in the long run, was extremely poorly executed.  I wouldn't even be asking this obvious yet dumb question if the end users had ever been notified prior to the site going offline (and if it had actually been published, I don't know, on coinex.pw first and foremost).

It reminds me of how the company I work for does things: like a blind kid in a room full of tits, you run around blindly grabbing until something works out in the end.
Quite true, professionals don't do a cut-over to a new system without warning people first about the extended outage. Nevertheless it's all happened now, so we just have to wait and see what the outcome is. I too had coins in transit from mining output, I am sure they will end up in the exchange wallet at some point when it's live again.

538  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow announces 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.49/Ghash on: December 13, 2013, 02:15:52 AM
Bobsag3 has answered that question above, the Apr date is for batch2. unfortunately BA nor minersource have used the terms Feb batch sold out! Per order now for Apr. or something similar and to add to the confusion BA has not changed the dates at all. please go top of page and read his reply

Well, that is unfortunate. If I had known this was coming I would have ordered last night. KNC is now looking much more attractive.
It's strange how these ASIC manufactures can't maintain steady production, they have to leave large gaps and work in batches.

First exchange to support WDC/USD.

I just noticed that half and hour ago.

Good work crypto-trade

Grats to crypto-trade.com for adding the WDC/USD trade pair the other day. A good step for WDC.
