Interested in 20 BTC or 240 Chips
5302  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [RESOLVED] X6500 - Power Issue on: April 15, 2013, 09:10:21 AM
Should we start another thread? Timing though sucks 3 months minimum?

Might be too long and I got my 3 used at about $450... loved to get more. Already paid mine off if the BTC price was still $266 lol oh well easy come easy go.

Start a new thread let's see who is willing. The DIY Asic might be more reasonably priced. Also I thought there was talk of the X6500 being open sourced?
5303  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Xilinx FPGA on: April 14, 2013, 07:49:10 AM
Had CAKE!

Awesome.
5304  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: X6500 Custom FPGA Miner on: April 14, 2013, 07:47:44 AM
How about selling the FPGA design + code?  Then folks could "roll their own".

Yup...

Why not open source it... let the community pool it's resources and get these going.

Yes, I think this is a good idea and have been planning to talk with the others about it for a while now. Been too busy lately even to send around an email, so I certainly haven't looked at OSHW licenses and tried to figure all that out. Any experts on that stuff around here?

5306  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Where are the 28nm FPGAs? on: April 14, 2013, 07:08:53 AM
I'm surprised to not see some small mining devices based on artix7.  I would expect their power usage to be basically competitive with Avalon... and the retaskability of FPGA is worth paying a bit of a premium for...   Seems odd to me that there hasn't been any motion in that direction.

Group buy? That be a project for DIY no?

I emailed them....they said 3-5 months for singles...
Bulk order they can do....

If anyone wants to sell one, or sets up a group buy, pm me Cheesy

Me too.

5309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Freicoin will soon get blockchain stuck? on: April 14, 2013, 02:46:55 AM
It needs its own thread...

We should all have our own board for each crypto actually.

The next update will hopefully fix this issue and from what I have heard it will be a fork to fix the difficulty issue. I think the plan is to put in place a PPC type difficulty adjustment but we won't be in the graveyard again... here is hoping the Devs are ready to do this now.
5310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Freicoin: demurrage crypto-currency from the Occupy movement (crowdfund) on: April 13, 2013, 01:55:04 PM
Quote
You've based it on Bitcoin technology. Is this a competitor to Bitcoin?

Absolutely not! The two serve quite different purposes. The properties of Bitcoin make it analogous to precious commodities like gold or silver, and it will always function as a useful store of value. Freicoin, on the other hand, is meant to be used as a medium of exchange only, kept on hand just long enough to provide a cash-flow buffer. The demurrage fee encourages recipients of Freicoin to put their money to use as soon as possible in an exchange (even by buying bitcoins, for example), whereas the deflationary nature of Bitcoin rewards hoarding and serves a different purpose as a long-term store of value.

Can someone explain why someone would want to convert BTC to FRC in order to exchange?  What is the added value of using FRC as an exchange currency?

http://www.freicoin.org/market-f8.html

Go here and spend your Freicoin that you mined or earned... traded for or bought.

Yea, I really dislike the idea of a "foundation" in both this currency and devcoin (I think? If I'm understanding it right that is...)

Who's to say the foundation doesn't just cashout all of their freicoins into another currency?
You are. Foundation coins will only be spent as part of a community vetted process.  You can join the conversation at freicoin.org.
I spoke out against centralization earlier in the project and my voice was drowned out by louder voices in favor. It's like arguing about a Wikipedia article.

If you really like Freicoin EXCEPT for the foundation, you'll have an easier time just forking it. If I wanted to argue about how my own money was spent on my behalf, I'd go to city hall.

They won't be "spent" in that manner at all. Your money? Either you mine and accept it or don't mine it. Right?

The work needed now is not forking it is developing a democratic means for the disbursement of the foundation funds in the form of prizes and grants to help jump start the use of Freicoin with things like Freiescrow... or Freibay trade sites etc. What is great about this fund is that it will be used, it will not be spent on the foundation memebers it will go to help develop Freicoin. That is something as a Freicoin user I support. Having put some ideas forward as well as putting in my own grant proposal I am hopeful we see a foundation actually form soon and form so that we the users have direct influence in what gets funded.  Rather than simply hating on the "centralization" you might want to rethink it and look towards a more PARECON model where direct democratic involved may infact help bolster the Freicoin and in the future make miners MORE MONEY... in 3 years hopefully most of the YOUR money will also be dispensed to the projects that we the users agree we need. If you have any ideas for projects post them up.

5312  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PCI-e Based FPGA Mining Cards on: April 13, 2013, 02:18:39 AM
I have 6 spartan6x150's in the mail headed my way to do some testing with.  I have the PCI-e board sketched up on KiCad, and am going to contact a PCB manufacture tomorrow about getting a few made. If all goes well, I'll post the board schematics on here for public use.

For those intrested, DigiKey is selling spartan6x150 singles for $158/chip and $170/chip (same chip, just 2 different batches), just search for "XC6SLX150".

My current board design is PCI-e x16, double wide to fit a wide heatsink and fan in.

I'm also in contact with a rep from Achronix, hoping for a low-ish estimate on their HD1000 series of FPGAs (sub $1,500/chip), but I doubt it.

Thoughts, ideas, opinions?

There are PCI - e FPGA cards are there not already?

Like I said Pete.

Send your paperweight to me. I'll take the hit.

I'll mine for you and pay you a nice stipend every week for 12 months.

50% of what it makes.

Sound good?

That way you get the cash and none of the hassles. You got my email.

Shit you can come visit the paper weight any time you want in Jakarta if you are feeling nostalgic. Your donation would be greatly appreciated at our school.

I would definitely be using part of the revenue to cover the scholarship program at our school so it be used for a good cause and also used to introduce cryptocurrencies to our students. Hate to see this rig just sit in a room and make money for someone that doesn't appreciate the value it has a teaching tool. It can be used well after the stale date in my opinion regardless of the value of BTC or FRC, NMC, TRC etc.
5314  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: avl asic on: April 12, 2013, 05:12:08 PM
The thing is worth what 20K or 30K what did they go for at auction... versus putting 4.3914 BTC on ice every day valued at what $80 USD right now? That is 80K this year about. Cripes just continually sell the coins you make 1 every 6 hours.

I don't know about you if you can put nearly 1000 BTC in a wallet this year and wait what 1 year or 2 maybe 3... I bet you'd regret it more selling it than the $100,000 BTC pizza guy did.
5315  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: April 12, 2013, 02:34:34 PM

Cancel this John.

Guy flaked out or was a scammer didn't provide proof of life and didn't get back to me after last email regarding using you as an escrow.

The escrow address for sceneboss (Mark)(the seller) and Bicknellski's(the buyer) transaction would be:

1KeFhfELAgm3q48bWKE85LJzxV3G5kdHe6

Please state and agree to the conditions (if item is received damaged, item lost with tracking, customs fee etc) beforehand.

If possible, GPG sign your agreement to prevent any discrepancies later on and please ship with tracking to prevent problems during delivery. GPG signing is not a requirement, and any verbal exchange in the form of private messages or posts on bitcointalk.org, or email is effective as a ‘statement of condition’.

The fine print:
This Contract is solely generated for the purpose of facilitating the transaction between the seller and the buyer, which refers to the pseudonyms used on bitcointalk.org.
The escrow holder, John, assumes and gives no liability or guarantees on the satisfaction of all parties involved, although he agrees to mediate and facilitate the deal to the fullest extent he is capable of.  On the event that any problems arises, he will release the escrow to whichever party that presents him with the most convincing proof and/or after an open discussion with others or theymos.
The verbal acceptance by both parties (or the failure to reject) and the sending of Bitcoins to the escrow address above constitutes the acceptance of the terms and conditions stated, and the activation of this Contract.

Please understand that I am doing this partly as a community service for members, I am assuming the risk of holding the escrowed Bitcoins, and I am using my own time to facilitate this transaction.
If it does not represent a burden to do so, please tip me at 1NB1KFnFqnP3WSDZQrWV3pfmph5fWRyadz .

Thank you.

5316  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DIY PCB with AVAlON - [Documentation ready Mid April!!!!] on: April 12, 2013, 02:26:37 PM
1. I want to start a business on this to make profit by selling boards
2. My whole design was aimed to be open sourced from the start and i hope that got through in my messages.

My point on this is that if i do all Development in the open, a closed source competitor will likely profit greatly from my work and might beat me to the market.
At that point i lost time and money and will never see a penny for it.
I will happily share my insights and work on the Avalon with any developer that is
really working on an Opensource product and is going to contribute and share.
For all others i will release the sources with shipping of batch one.
Does that sound fair to you guys?  Undecided

More than generous. Thanks for even bringing this to the forum and giving us a heads up... I mean really it be simpler if you did it behind closed doors with a small group of like minded people then presented it more or less fully formed. Just putting your plan out here to everyone is a great hope for better days for a wider range of potential miners. Keep going... don't stop... we will support this I have little or no doubt.

No news is good news?

How are things coming along?
5318  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [RESOLVED] X6500 - Power Issue on: April 12, 2013, 02:02:54 PM
Pretty happy with the units they humm along nicely close to 1200 Mh/s with no downtime except for the occasional power outages in Jakarta.

Even with the one board and the suspect fuse it doesn't cause any issues.

Very happy with these units. I can see why they are hard to buy owners not willing to give them up too easily. Wish I could get some more.
5319  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: avl asic on: April 12, 2013, 01:57:32 PM
Keep mining... when it goes back up to $266 sell em all and retire.

As for it being a paperweight if you really don't want the hassle auction it off... still bet you get a pretty penny for it.

I don't see the issue really but then again there is value in BTC whether it is 266 one day and $50 the next.

I'd prefer to have an Avalon humming away as opposed to the few X6500's and the 7970 I put into my PC for the kids.
5320  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 12, 2013, 10:35:08 AM
bitbet.us had almost the same bet and it was not a "push".
http://bitbet.us/bet/265/bfl-will-deliver-asic-devices-before-april-1st/
Turns out bitbet.us may actually be in the wrong here! My Little Single is getting 29.4 Gh/s with a firmware update.
In their defense, the bet could be argued to require +/- 10% as delivered (eg, disqualifying firmware updates), but if this performance issue had merely been my software, they'd have defrauded people...
you sure say some stupid things.  You may have a unit, but the bet was for BFL to ship out units to customers.  Which they failed to do..
This. The bet says "will deliver ASIC Bitcoin mining devices to their customers", NOT "a customer" thus implying plurality. Having one unit shipped to one customer does not logically satisfy the conditions of the bet.
You're right. While it's just one character, it does make an important difference.
Delivery to one customer certainly isn't "customers" no matter how accurate the rest.
I take back what I said.

Now only if you could see your way to talking back what you have done and said about the other bet we'd all feel a bit better wouldn't we? Fucking tard.
