4341  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [K1 Nano Boards Only] Group Buy - Big Picture Mining Cooperative on: July 09, 2013, 11:31:47 AM
<RESERVED FOR UPDATES>

I will be personally pledging 10 x K1 boards for this K1 Nano board buy as I will be using them in our school for bump and reflow of chips to boards with our students. As we get a rough idea of prices for the boards and post them on the website for this group buy then people can order. We will probably have to set a minimum number before production can take place and a cut off date for the group buy. If we don't get enough orders just for boards before mid August our BTC will be returned.

4342  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: K1 Nanos - Big Picture Mining Cooperative on: July 09, 2013, 11:27:45 AM

This is a fair comment as I hadn't given it much thought that chips are included (I'm in on another DIY deal).  Still, I would be hesitant to get in on anything with a longer than 2~3mth ROI at the moment..until the difficulty settles down a bit anyway.  I'll still chk back here though, if the BTC price comes back then obviously that will help ROI enormously. Thx for your reply btw

If you are looking at K1 boards we are also looking for people to get in on a group buy of boards of course the costs for that will be determined by the number of boards  as the fabrication of smaller lots means much higher prices. Check the post here for more info. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=252113.0

Just started running with 4 chips. 17 WU/m, 1.2 GH/s.

Sweet.

We are going to have prices up by the end of the week. Some of the members now working on the website, payment gateway and whatnot. In terms of larger group orders as I said before we welcome them and can provide better pricing for orders over 1000+ units. Note that our production run starts in late July or early August, depending on chips from Avalon, to the end of September and we are still trying to determine final numbers of units but we hope to provide individual K1 Nanos as well as larger numbers for anyone. Our production site is in Batam, Indonesia so shipping to Malaysia is quite easy. If you are in JB you could even hop the causeway and then take a ferry to Batam from Singapore.

Looks like BKKCoins is steadily adding chips to the K16 test board and he is itching to get a revised board done soon for both the K16 and K1 Nanos given his latest posts. Exciting times keen on seeing how the K1s can overclock myself trying to track down some really stable USB hubs right now.

Do you need boards to go with your chips?
4345  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How long an assembled board miner lives? on: July 08, 2013, 02:36:22 PM

When will the earth be destroyed?
in about 5 billion years

Destruction is closer than you think... the Earth without life is simply not Earth.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Future_of_the_Earth

During the next four billion years, the luminosity of the Sun will steadily increase, resulting in a rise in the solar radiation reaching the Earth. This will cause a higher rate of weathering of silicate minerals, which will cause a decrease in the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. In about 600 million years, the level of CO2 will fall below the level needed to sustain C3 carbon fixation photosynthesis used by trees. Some plants use the C4 carbon fixation method, allowing them to persist at CO2 concentrations as low as 10 parts per million. However, the long-term trend is for plant life to die off altogether. The die off of plants will be the demise of almost all animal life, since plants are the base of the food chain on Earth.

K1s are single-chip, USB-powered Klondike boards.

Bicknellski, have you managed to source heatsinks for the K1s yet?

Right now, I'm waiting for my PCBs for the Avalon miner. In the meantime, I thought I can try to make a board for BFL ASICs, too. So, I sat down and played around with my CAD software.

Delivery not certain. Better to work on a BitFury design as that is more in line with Avalon chips right? Same footprint.

Yep, you're right. Bitfury has the same footprint as Avalon chips. And bitfury chips have higher throughput with lower power consumption than the BFL chips. With Bitfury it could be possible to make an USB powered miner with more then a 1GHs/s (the specs are specifying a hashrate of 5GHs/s with only 2.5W power consumption).

That be good... I don't think there are any BitFury USB designs right?

Um.. What?  Given a 2 layers board and a 32Mhz oscillator that is routed all over the place, I think the FCC would not be so sure..

Enigma
2 layer board? The clock is routed in the middle of a GND plane and has one below and a power plane above. And there is GND stitching around the edges. While I don't have access to FCC testing facilities here I'm reasonably sure that a 32 MHz clock won't cause any grief. It could be different if the 300 MHz hash clock was route all over the place.

Was the comment about "insane power supply" in that other thread aimed at mine? I'd like to know if someone else said that.

Guessing the BIG BOYS not the DIY... wink wink not sure.

Interested in 10 of them!
And perhaps more to resell them of maybe I'm going to setup a group buy here at Surabaya Smiley

Just contact me in Indonesia. I can help you with large group buys if you want?

Thought FCC guidelines were to resolve interference issue with other electronic components not mitigate against potential heath risks. FCC and FDA are different

Contrary to all my competitors I do take EMC seriously and designed these boards to be compliant. (which did increase price)
Emission testing is scheduled for next week, but the Lab hasn't yet confirmed my appointment.
The boards will be tested against EN55022.

Bought BFL chips 6/11. No samples received. No word from BFL. Josh says it's the sales departments's problem.

Shame shit different pile... why not try Bitfury chips?

We are also going to organize a group buy of K1 boards sans chips for people who might be interested in just bumping their K1s and DIY reflow or take it to someone for reflow. We are looking for input on pricing for that in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=252113.0
4358  Bitcoin / Group buys / [K1 Nano Boards Only] Group Buy - Big Picture Mining Cooperative on: July 08, 2013, 05:45:48 AM
Situation:

We have access to fabrication of K1 Boards with all components sans Avalon chips. Big Picture Mining Cooperative notes there are hundreds of thousands of Avalon chips coming into the hands of the community.

Focus

We need to find out if the community is interested in buying K1 boards sans Avalon chips. We will take $2 dollars from every board sold and pay BKKCoins royalty fees and we will register with BKKCoins on his site as board fabricator.

Response

If we have interest in thousands of boards then we can work with the community on pricing for these boards at a competitive rate. Boards can be available in late July or early August. As this is a group buy we can ship directly to each person directly from the fabricator.

Evaluation

We bring in BKKCoins board royalty fees quicker and satisfy needs for those interested in the group buy by providing K1 boards roughly at the time they are receiving chips or those who want to resell K1 boards with their own chips mounted on our group buy boards.
4359  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: July 08, 2013, 05:44:39 AM
During tests of single Avalon chip last night We were able to run it without misses up to 395 MHz.
We tried up to 450 but after 395 it starts missing data.
This without proper cooling.

NICE MARTO!!!!!!!!!
4360  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: K1 Nanos - Big Picture Mining Cooperative on: July 08, 2013, 02:56:25 AM
Note we can work with a larger group buy and better price per unit for volume sales say over 1000 Units. Get together and buy in bulk in fact we prefer that sort of mass sales as it makes our job a bit easier and we even can provide direct shipments to your group members so you do not have to have one person hold 1000 K1s and redistribute although that shipping will cost more in the longer run. We are also trying to avoid the Ebay like auction nature of these sorts of units so those who are willing to craft an agreement with us we are more than happy to work with other cooperatives especially.

Make us an offer we can't refuse.
