581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Tips to avoid compulsive thoughts related to anxiety on: December 26, 2023, 09:15:39 PM
Having problematic behaviors related to gambling, such as chasing profits, thinking you can best the house, that your luck will turn etc. has a lot to do with anxiety. In many countries there are readily available resources and public infrastructure though which people can seek and receive assistance for issues like addictions. But the sad truth is that many countries also lack the resources to provide such services to their local population.

So it's important to emphasize that while resources for self help can be good, they can also do more harm than good in certain occasions, so it's good to remind everyone that if available, the best option is to always work with professionals.

Now with that out of the way, I feel like it's important to recognize that anxiety contributed negatively to his one might approach gambling. First step with dealing with anxiety is to recognize it. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/anxiety/symptoms-causes/syc-20350961

The way to deal with related thoughts when they emerge is to have a mental response that is full of logical arguments each time these feelings come up. Think of why anxiety isn't a reasonable feeling, think of your schedule, why it's not worth to gamble again etc. These can depend on each person's circumstances.

Personally I felt a lot better finding and reading a cognitive behavioral therapy book in my local library. I made prints of the most important pages and kept them with me for a while. Dealing with anxiety and keeping it managed can help with many aspects of life actually. Always best to combine written cognitive therapy resources with visits to s licensed professional if you can though. But even reading a CBT book alone can provide some helpful advice to dealing with anxiety.

Now when it comes to realizing that you are affected by physical symptoms of stress, there are also some exercises for that. You can look up breathing techniques, and see if these help you. Even the simplest form of breathing in from the nose and exhaling deeply and slowly while sitting down can be very helpful for some.

Feel free to share any tips if you have them.  Cool

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/13xj0ug/nobody_should_suggest_using_a_raspberry_pi_for/

583  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is WinTomato casino SCAM? on: December 25, 2023, 04:35:11 PM
This isn't only a risk with new casinos, it's also an existing risk with existing established casinos.

Cloudbet did something to me when they were already very reputable.
For you to get everything you are actually owed, you would need to go with a very very reputable casino but oftentimes an issue with these is that everyone has an account already. So it's hard to get proper leads.
584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In The Span Of six months what will make you trust a new casino on: December 25, 2023, 04:18:36 PM
For me one of the most important aspects of trusting a casino is interacting with the community in meaningful ways, so running interactive promotions that are lead by experienced community members us important.

But more than anything else, I want a proper implementation of provably fair games. You don't really have to trust the fairness of a casino if you can verify it yourself. As kf trusting a casino with bigger deposits it's good to have some time pass without accusations and resolutions to any issues that might arise.
585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Gambling Affiliate Program Problem on: December 25, 2023, 03:28:35 PM
I used to do affiliate for cloudbet and they showed me that I was among the top affiliates for their site, generating hundreds of leads.
But after they change their terms, I would get no revenue.
If you want to promote a crypto casino, I would recommend picking a trusted one without open and non-addressed allegations against them.

Yes it's true that a provider can not honor their affiliate commissions owed to you, but a trusted one would never do such a thing. So pick the provider you are promoting carefully.
586  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your feelings if Bitcoin price takes your expectations unaware on: December 25, 2023, 03:24:51 PM
Expecting short term gains of 50% on Bitcoin isn't something very realistic imho...
If anyone bought in the last month they bought at a local high so it's also very much likely that a retrace would be expected.
Anyone investing right now should be doing so with funds they won't need for a while imho. There's no guarantee that markets would keep doing that well. And with a potential retrace that could take a while too? It's a very risky bet to expect shirt term gains at the current levels in my opinion. If prices fall just a bit there's going to be resistance from anyone that just bought a short while ago, with the increased volumes and all..
587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should security be employed in local bet shop? on: December 25, 2023, 02:59:07 PM
I think any place that involves money and a many people should be held into high standards when it comes to security.
Casinos employ many security personnel. And I am sure the bigger betting stores would also be able to spend some money on security personnel. If they can afford it, they better do it imo. Having someone there just with presence can increase security quite a bit as people would be following the rules more thoroughly.
588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Innovation in online gambling on: December 25, 2023, 02:30:11 PM
I'm actually don't have an idea as I think provably fair system mostly covered all the games aside from E-sports and sports betting,

I agree that Esports and Sports betting is the fairest. I think the current innovation is also sufficient regarding sports and esports betting, so far it has gone well and is starting to get positive traction.

What I was surprised about was the slots. When I play a slot machine at a casino compared to a gambling website, the results are very different, I have better luck playing at a live casino than on a website.
Indeed when playing with sport bets I realized that there are many improvements on the platforms featuring such bets.
For one, there's live streams for almost every e-sports match that's available to bet on which is a big improvement. And there's also live streams for many of the smaller league games you can bet on which is a nice showcase for smaller athletes too.

A few years ago this was much more restricted. Smaller leagues had no Livestream anywhere and e-sports not always too. Now it's all much more accessible. So indeed sports betting drives quite a bit of innovation.
589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino games and the house edge : Players odds to win? on: December 25, 2023, 01:12:40 PM
I am grateful for this. Thank you very much.
I didn't know that Keno had that high house edge. Well, now I know. Cheesy How about Plinko? Or did I miss it?
I remember keno being the same those in physical gambling sites would play all day and night.
There would be drawings every 5 minutes or so. Naturally the winning odds were pretty low. I remember the highest possible win chance on a complication was something like a little above 50% and the RTP overall 60%...
Ofc the house edge can vary based on who provides the game. On online casinos there's a lot of space to make it better, but usually they don't.
590  Local / Ελληνικά (Greek) / Re: Το πρόβλημα του ακριβού ρεύματος on: December 25, 2023, 10:28:39 AM
Πλέον συμφέρει παραπάνω ένα all in one desktop ως σέρβερ ας πούμε, από πλευράς εξόδων σίγουρα. Αλλά από πλευράς εξόδων σε ρεύμα;

591  Local / Ελληνικά (Greek) / Το πρόβλημα του ακριβού ρεύματος on: December 24, 2023, 11:11:51 PM

Έχει σκεφτεί κανένας πως αυτό μπορεί να αποτελέσει πρόβλημα για τις υποδομές του Bitcoin στην χώρα μας;
Πώς θα μπορεί κάποιος ας πούμε να σηκώσει ένα δικό του node ώστε να μπορεί να κάνει trustless transactions... Την ώρα που ένας φτηνός all in one υπολογιστής θα κάψει το κόστος του σε ρεύμα μέσα σε μετρημένους στα δάχτυλα ενός χεριού μήνες;

592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which hosting or domain name providers does shady gambling sites use? on: December 24, 2023, 09:48:12 PM
Gambling is not globally banned. So gambling sites that want to get at least some level of accreditation will be able to do it under schemes that are more adapted to online gambling and therefore more permissive.
By going on who.is you can see that major websites use mainstream services like name cheap for domains and cloud flair for hosting:

https://who.is/whois/stake.com

So really there is nothing shady going on here. Gambling site operators aren't under pressure to have their domains seized that much it seems so they use the services anyone would use for a regular site.
593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between Physical and Online Gambling which makes a person more addicted on: December 24, 2023, 09:44:58 PM
I think online gambling is the most addictive for sure, due to how someone has the comfort of gambling even from their bed, being able to hide it more easily also.

But honestly even the less versatile physical gambling can be very addictive and many people that are not familiar with the internet have fallen victim to it. So if someone really wants to gamble, he'll find a way.

The best measures to help with addiction imo is measures for someone to get help after they see their addiction and want to get off the hook
594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Know when to ride and stop! on: December 24, 2023, 09:28:13 PM
It's also to keep on mind that there exists a popular mis interpretation of how probability works.
Each roll/wagger whatever had independent chances. So winning doesn't increase or decrease the chances for the next game to be a win too.

This is called the gambler's fallacy and it is quite prevalent.
Sure it's important to test the waters to know how a game works but don't consider that a certain strategy will best the house edge.
In the long run, the house only wins.  Cheesy
595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Watch out! Blockchair has been hacked! on: December 24, 2023, 09:17:40 PM
Have you seen any official announcement from block chair about this?
Is this reproducible in other devices also?

Because if not, it could be also that it's a local issue.

Malware will often try to infect your clipboard in order make you send funds to an attacker's address. So it could also be a local issue.
596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Innovation in online gambling on: December 24, 2023, 09:01:26 PM
What innovations can we expect? If I only add a game category, I don't think it's innovation, because I think innovation should be more about functions that make things easier for users. For example, transaction fees are cheaper on weekends, or for example funds from gambling sites can be directly converted according to the currency of each player's country. When referring to additions to the game, I don't think it can be said to be innovation. Most online casinos will adopt offline games to become online games. For Blackjack this is an old type of game,
Well yes, innovation can also come in the spaces of design and UI technology.
But the lack of inventiveness can make people that have been in the space for long feel a little bored, don't you think?

Some people gamble to have fun and not seeing anything new for ages can make you feel bored sometimes.
New animations and fast UI won't always cut it when there's zero inventiveness.
597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Features of the worldview of a gambler on: December 24, 2023, 08:51:02 PM
Gambling addiction is a very real issue it the fact that so many people fall in this type of addiction without being able to get any help, goes to show how our society has failed to improve it's infrastructure for those that need it most. We have so many people addicted to gambling these days, and they are barely able to function within society's rules due to this issue. Imagine how much better the world would be if they would be able to get better help...
598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Innovation in online gambling on: December 24, 2023, 08:37:26 PM
I would like to make this topic to discuss innovations in online gambling.
Crypto gambling has brought on a lot of innovation in the scene, however some might say that in the last few years online casinos have been sticking with tried and tested strategies, not really introducing that many new games or innovations to existing ones.

So what has been your experiences with gambling recently? Have you seen any games that impressed you?
For me personally I really liked the provably fair blackjack at Stake. I wish there would be more single player card games that are also provably fair.
599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one did you use to gamble with more on: December 23, 2023, 06:52:16 PM
Ever since love match gsmbling became available more and more people have starred playing with this feature.
I have to admit even though the odds are oftentimes worse as soon as the match starts, it's more thrilling.
So people that okay for fun and don't care about profit all that much will probably use this feature as it's more fun.

It's also something that many people use as a strategy to try and increase their odds of winning. But personally I see this practice as taking some of the fun away. So I don't see the point to it.
600  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does casino streamers have influence in your gambling life? on: December 23, 2023, 06:44:13 PM
I am trying to steer away from any live streaming in general, not just gambling. Because it's a huge time sink and a lot of unnecessary drama.

But when it comes to gambling especially, I think I enjoy more of doing it myself other than seeing anyone else do it. So to me personally it's better to just go and see for myself. And besides, the games streamers plsy are the sponsored ones and not exzctly the most popular ones or most enjoyable.

So no, personally I don't watch streamers and don't let them affect my habits, but that's just because I personally don't enjoy their content. From what I understand many people do though and that's ok.
