So we are paying a CPM of around $75 for this advertising.  That's really expensive.

I'm not saying these audio spots are a bad idea, I don't know.  I'm saying $20K is a LOT of real money for an advertising budget.

If we are ready to spend that kind of cash, we should consider print ads in Bitcoin Magazine.

For $20K we could get full page color ads on page 1 for the next three years in a printing of 25,000 in each month's production run.

http://bitcoinmagazine.com/advertising/

http://btcmag.9wizards.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/BITCOIN-Pricing-List-Interactive-Issues-17-19_web.pdf

This would have a CPM of around $20-$25.  Don Draper of Mad Men would say that's three times more effective.  Plus every ad could have a QR code or URL that would sweep the user immediately on to more info.

+1

do both...radio spots & print ads (doesn;t have to be 1st page but should be full page)

BOTH ARE ESSENTIAL....WE PLUG THE RASPI/ENERGY EFFICIENCY TECHNICAL STUFF IN PRINT or WEBSITE.

NOTE: isn't the Bitcoin magazine editors oppose to Nxt??

YES they are.  They were fast-tracking my "Whats NXT in the world of cryptocurrencies"  It went throuigh som proofreading and some critiques for no opposing viewpoints which I addressed, then went to chief editor who shot it down.  Said chief editor is founder of ethereum and specifically told me he wouldnt publish it because NXT was voted "most likely a scam" in some poll somewhere

Luckily for us though, I believe the sentiment is changing, and they will probably have no choice but to publish us now
582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: January 28, 2014, 03:17:19 PM
[[Development Update]]...Let me know what you think.

How about this... Continue using LONG data type for amount.  As unsigned, this allows from 0 - 18446744073709551616 and we could always IMPLY 9 decimal points, such that now we have amounts from 0.0 NEM - 18,446,744,073.709551616 NEM.  This is well within the 4 billion limit.  The only thing here is we may want to do additions of volume, assets exchanges, etc such that that may not be a large enough number for appropriate representation.

In this case, perhaps we could just standardize on 5 decimals?  With 4 Billion, surely 5 would be enough decimals, giving us 0.0 NEM to 184,467,440,737,095.51616 NEM

with transparent forging, could a block forger choose to not send ANY transactions except its own, a block chock full of only his own transactions, and do so for free while completely ignoring everyone elses transactions?

Yes, feel free to include only ur own transactions or none at all.

am I the only one who doesnt like this?
584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEM : Descendant of NXT - 4 billion coins - Equal Shares for ALL on: January 28, 2014, 02:42:04 PM
ROFL. Didn't this start as a joke?  I posted somewhere in the beginning so this thread keeps popping up.  So when's it launching?

no, was never a joke, we are onboarding competent devs as we speak.
585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: January 27, 2014, 11:21:21 PM
who cares about a fair launch? distribution is important

I suppose some other coin could offer buy in for .0001 BTC per user and just stipulate that each user had to have a BCT.org account with X level of activity on date of ANN in order to be able to get in at .0001 BTC.  Otherwise the price is something like .25 BTC per user.  This would TREMENDOUSLY reduce the number of sockpuppets while still allowing TONS of users to get in.

Then the new users will all be shouting "unfair", but we all know what BCNext said about a world with money not being fair.  Also my momma told me "lifes not fair" many times while growing up...  and still it would be a MUCH wider distribution than NXT was.  Hell, some competent dev could do another coin this way.  It would have a MUCH greater (than NXT) ratio of participation from its members, since all the sockpuppet, friends, grandkids, dogsitters, barbers, etc would not be getting accounts created for them.   This way, only people who have already contributed to the BCT.org community would be eligible, and they would be much more inclined to participate anyways, since they are already contributors.

But Im still here going to support NEM however I can

oh come on help me out here.... im using jd-gui as you suggested.  I fed it the start.jar and I see lots of items under org.eclipse.jetty.start but nothing like Nxt.  Now ive never used a decompiler before and Ive only had Java1 & 2 in college so Im not a SW dev. I even did a search in jd-gui for Nxt and nothing showed up
Grin Grin Grin
Go to webapps\root\WEB-INF\classes\ and open Nxt.class  Cool

im all set thanks
587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 27, 2014, 10:40:57 PM

588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT Coin Security on: January 27, 2014, 10:26:23 PM
What you fail to understand is that in order to brute force an unsecured account requires not only SHA asics, but also curve ASICS, which there are none of now.  but like as has been stated many times for you already here, this is intentional; to allow 'mining' of lost NXT in the future.

Really?

How on earth would you know if these are "lost" coins and not someone coins who has been saving them for say his grand kids?

RIF.  Ill repeat it since you didnt get it the first time

...We are actively trying to educate people of the risk of not having any transaction associated with an account....

so just dont let it sit like that

We are actively trying to educate people of the risk of not having any transaction associated with an account.  LOL yes, in 1 week of cracking you can have that account with 100,000 NXT sitting in it.  its account number is 00000000000000100000 so go for it, you have 1 week if NXT is so unsecure
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 27, 2014, 09:46:41 PM
can someone help me with decompiling?  I unzipped the .jar and see lots of class files there but decompiling them gives no nxt source code.
What decompiler are you using? http://jd.benow.ca/ works for me.

yes that works for me as well, but same thing - it decompiles all the class files but i see no NXT code anywhere

592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT Coin Security on: January 27, 2014, 08:13:03 PM
This is still not clear to me.

Basically, the account number is only 64-bit. The full 256-bit would secure your account if you use that account to send some transaction.

If someone has never used their account for sending transaction but only for receiving money,  brute forcing that account would  be equivalent to brute forcing 64-bit encryption/key.

Wow.

If true, that would be serious security hole. 64-bit is nothing.

A custom built machine can break all these unused accounts with money in it (but have never been used to send transactions) with a week

Please fix this

a week?   Roll Eyes
593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 27, 2014, 06:51:57 PM

So... any updates from those testing the NXT Asset Exchange?

Probably why CFB is in MIA for last few days, or he's on a weekend ski trip.
FIFY
(just my suspicion, nothing concrete.  why has nobody commented yet that he happened to go out of pocket at the same time as the Miami Bitcoin Conf???)

WHAT CfB is Nifty Nickel !!!! Cheesy
nah not him.  but IMO he was there doing something.

596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: January 27, 2014, 03:00:54 PM
This thread is such a joke.  You have the EXACT three or four guys repeating over and over again what a great product it is and attacking and demoralizing anyone who has a negative opinion about it.  Go to just about any forum thats sells products and you see the same pattern.  Three or four shills pumping up the product throughout the entire thread making it seem like the entire community thinks it is awesome.  This crowdfundraising is a total scam job.  Who in their right mind gives 30,000 in untraceable bitcoins to a bunch of total strangers that refuse to file the proper paperwork that is required when crowdfundraising.  This legally required fundraising is designed to provide transparency and protect people against fraud.  This is not your average coin launch that does a percentage of pre-mine for advertising.  They lost their right of anonymity as small time devs just casually creating coins when they asked for 36 million dollars from the public. When you ask for that kind of cash, you MUST file the proper paperwork.

They are asking YOU and the entire bitcoin community to TRUST them and GIVE them 30,000 BTC before launch and make them millions before one coin is mined with absolutely no documentation, no insurance, no bond, no transparency, no regulatory filings.  Do not let them deceive you.  This is not just another coin launch.  When you ask for this type of money, you MUST file the proper paperwork and background checks.  Who are these guys?  ONE youtube video and they are asking for 30,000 BTC.  Let them earn their money like every other dev, mine a small part and let the market decide how much the coins should be worth. Even if you like the tech DO NOT enable this kind of behaviour and let these fukin devs take advantage of the bitcoin community.  They want to be millionaires with YOUR money before even launching.  They want YOU to take ALL the risk while they become millionaires with ZERO risk.    They will be laughing all the way to the bank in their new Lamborghinis and Homes, while you are nervous about your money the entire time.  They have no sweat equity or money in of their own in this project.  Does this seem right to you?

Actually if anyone has bombarded this thread by repeating the same point over and over and over again, it is you.

You have been repeatedly told that 30,000 BTC does not translate to 36 million dollars on current BTC prices but you ignore them and stick to your version. You just want to scare people away. You have repeatedly been told that 30,000 represents a hard cap and it remains to be seen how much our community actually invests but again you only acknowledge what is convenient for you. For the record what is the largest IPO in BTC terms that has been raised for alt-coins. I know XCP has PoB'ed 1600+ BTC. Anything higher than that? ETH might not attract an investment in 5 digits so I really do not understand the fuss.

You ask for conformity with US regulations when this is NOT a project within American jurisdiction and global investors including investors from outside your country. You know people do exist who are not American. Should they file paperwork with every country where investors come from?

Everyone has a choice. You have made it clear that this is scam. So don't invest in it. You want to educate others about it? I have read a dozen of your posts that essentially make the same point. It's got to a point where this is now verbal diarrhea ad nauseum.

I suspect you actually do want to invest a large amount yourself so by scaring the crap out of people you want to minimize dilution. You can deny all you want but there is no other motive strong enough to repeatedly change the narrative of this thread your way with nothing else to gain. If I thought this was a scam I would have had my say and then left this thread alone.

I am going to add you to my ignore list and urge everyone to - because you have ceased to provide anything meaningful to this conversation.

Your comments are worthless.  It is obvious from your previous posts you are a HUGE ethereum backer so please do ignore me because I am trying to make people aware of scums like you.  You are advocating to the entire bitcoin community to send these guys 30,000 bitcoin with nothing, no paperwork , no background checks, no legal filings, your excuse is they are not in USA, hey buddy I have news for you.  Canada has ten times more legal restrictions when it comes to crowdfundraising than USA.  Why are you so interested in having people send 30,000 bitcoin of their own money to total strangers with no transparency?  Because you want to get paid.  You willingly and willfully ignore all laws and condemn others that ask for more transparency and in compliance with all the laws and regulations.

You are the scum of the earth. you are so filled with greed that you will intentionally advise people to send money to total strangers based off a youtube video.  You know how funny that sounds?  Who in their right mind would send 36 million dollars to anybody without COMPLETE due diligence.  You know who the people are that get ripped off and lose their life savings?  People that invest and send their money to total strangers that operate outside the law.  And those companies have assholes like you intimidating others from any criticism until its too late.

"I suspect you actually do want to invest a large amount yourself so by scaring the crap out of people you want to minimize dilution."

You are demented and shallow in your thinking.  I am a casual crypto coin investor, as you can see from my previous posts.  I have invested in BTC, LTC, MEOW, DGB and KDC.  I was interested in investing in Ethereum until I read more about it, the more questions I asked the more aggressive responses I received from invested people like you.  That got me more curious as to why people were getting so angry when all I was asking for was more transparency.  So all I am trying to do is shine a light on topics people who have a vested interest in Ethereum are angrily and violently trying to steer people away from.  Thats my purpose for hanging around.  Whats yours?  Fukin pure greed.  Whats the difference between you and other Wall Street asshole like Goldman Sachs?  Nothing, you will do whatever to  make a quick buck and greed rules your character, you try to blindly steer people away when they start asking questions about the truth so you can make money.  I have nothing against people trying to make money, we all want to be wealthy.  I have problems with people and entities trying to scam other people and skirt the regulations that will prevent fraudulent activity.

well im just waiting to see how much Hazard rips up ethereum, given how he demonized them so badly just recently in cryptolife

i know its of topic, but can you tell me what im doing wrong in my altcoin creation?  I generated a merkle and also a genesis, but I have 2 peers configured with each others IPs as per instructions but they just dont see each other.  I tried it 2x, i dont think I missed a step. was there something missing from instructions?  I picked some random base58 address, the instructions werent very clear at all, but seems like that bas58 address really wasnt that big of a deal.

no im not going to release this here, its for another forums site I frequent, just want to give everyone there something to mine as a fun thing / joke sort of thing.

im using the instructions here http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=scrypt_altcoin_cloning_guide
