How would a person can earn merit points? Any tips?
Asking this kind of useless question is really not going to help you in fact some of the users will put you in ignore list. If you really into contributing in the forum and can produce good contents then merit will follow.

Build up a good character for yourself here and focus on giving more than taking.

Owe you bud.

Good to see a new full member. Congrats Little Mouse. It's a long run to go yet though but I am sure you will some day.

I really have difficulty in understand why people need to lend or borrow Bitcoin. It's so easy to exchange it for fiat online. If a person isn't able to do that, then how are they going to be able to pay you back?
I have seen many member in this forum in need of quick money for sorting out their bills or any sorts for real life issues and they have this genuine needs. And there are some scammer will always come up with stories with the hope that they will deceive someone and ran away with the money. Fact is that there is a good market for this business in here but it really is risky business.

Quote
Especially if Bitcoin shoots up in value.
I think this is how we holders think. There are people out there who really regularly cash out their bitcoin and also buy very often. Yes you have a point here but I think those who borrow they have this in their mind.
5843  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Justify feedback before you trust anyone on: November 12, 2019, 08:59:45 AM
If you need to decide if you want to trust someone, then reading their recent posts, and making a couple of searches is more reliable in my opinion. Don't forget that accounts can be sold or stolen here, and you need to determine the trustworthiness of the current controller of the account.
Certainly some of those feedback are really useless. Sometimes the user intentionally target some users and make some trades with the hope of getting some feedback before they can plan for a big exit.

This use Zerbis came to me few weeks ago asking for loan and looking at his feedback I had this same feeling and hesitation to approve his request of giving him 0.045BTC or something. After checking his profile and recent posts and other parameter which were in my commonsense I think I offered him 0.005 ish but he was insisting for the amount he was asking. At some point I did not bother to response him.

@Little Mouse you really did this good job to bring this out in here. I hope at least few people will read the concept from here and learn the lesson. Sorry for BitSat19 that he has to pay the price.

PS: I see Little Mouse needs 8 more merits to become a full member. If I had sMerits I would give him the merits. I see this fella is doing really good job in the forum. Can anyone send him some merit for this post for me?

Cheers,

So, you are the bookie here. Interesting though. I am not much interested, provably will participate on very few events only.
Yes exactly, as a bookies I will offer the markets and odds. Those who will beat the bookies will win big of course.

ut I think you must consider couple of time before being a bookie, it's subjective to huge loss in a single match. It's not commission based unlike the other one you referred. Anyway, it's up to you. If you continue, I guess you will get some 2/3 regular participants.
I know the risk associated which is of course paying the big wins. This is an experimental project to see how it goes. I will have max payout limit and minimum bet amount too.

This seems great in my opinion. Sounds like an accumulator, but the problem is that you would suffer big losses if someone hits it. I don't think this would be fair for you Royse since we could basically risk small amounts to win big amounts while your situation will be reversed.
Yes it is an accumulator like we see in the other sites but here the difference is that you are picking the selections from the same match which other bookies do not allow.
Talking about the big hits, anything under the max payout will not be a problem for me.

You guys are under-estimating India a bit too much here. The score that India posted was above par for that pitch and every BAN batsman except for Naim played poorly. Chahar bowled brilliantly, but he was not the only one. Dube supported him nicely too.
It was based on the current team they had. If India would have their regular team then there would have been no question at all.

Ia your project open source? Can people audit the source code?

Atomic swaps are really something we need, but there is none so far.

Changelly shapeshift etc are just exchanges where someone or some script swap coins for you. A true atomic swap should be done using smartcontracts, open and auditable, without any central authority who could interfere in the transaction.

Talking about these decentralized exchanges what do you guys think of this: https://dex.wavesplatform.com

Is this what we are looking for or this something else that they are not saying. There are some more which I need to find and if I manage the links then I will paste them here.

And the image posted by Royse, is how the current betting pools work and ofcourse without the commission, which Royse didn't take, didn't check though  Tongue

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong.

No, there were no commission as the host and I really do not plan for it as well. It's just something that excites me and I enjoy it a lot.

Quote
@Royse, your current idea, seems interesting let's see how many are interested and how it unravels. I'm interested for sure.
I will come up with something experimental in the upcoming Test matches. Need to see if there is a good market in it. I personally would like to make multibet in a same match which I never could with any bookies.

~snip~

Everyone expected Bangladesh to get whitewashed during the T20 series, but they fought really well and won the first game. Only the second match could be said as one-sided and the other two matches were evenly contested. Test match is a different format altogether and  the lengthier the game, the more difficult it gets for the underdogs. But the T20 series proved that Bangladesh can fight.
India was lucky in the last match because of the 6/7 bowling figure from that that bowler (can not remember his name right now) or we would see a different result.

I wanted to watch the Australia A vs Pakistan match, but it looks like the match is not available on TV. It was the partnership between Babar Azam and Asad Shafiq which rescued Pakistan. Before that they were struggling at 60/3 against the second-string Australian pace attack. I would not read too much in to the scorecard. Let's see the outcome of the match.
I am quite surprised to see some good betting performance by Pakistan in the warm-up match.

So sad to hear it. He was asking me a loan of 0.045 BTC around three weeks ago and I was offering him 0.005 BTC or something. Good thing that he did not take that but emphasizing for the amount he was asking. At the end I really did not bother much.

But let's not get too much hopeless, I hope he will come back and settle it. I noticed he has some good feedback after all.

5850  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: November 11, 2019, 06:38:25 PM
Pick 5 from the list and place a small amount of bet in that. If you get all correct of your selection then you get Nx of the return.

What do you think? I think this will make the test matches exciting.

Give me your feedback.

Who is going to give the Nx return? I am really confused.
It will be me. Imagine me as the bookies.
So I will have some selective markets from the same match and others will pick there selections from the given market. If all their selection wins then they will win the bet just like a multiBet slip.

Quote
I have seen your attached image but didn't get much. Can you elaborate a little more? Would appreciate much.
The image on my last post was explaining the mutual betting pools that we are doing right now it's not fixed odd like in the multiBet we will have.

Quote
Anyway, I can smell something interesting. Could enjoy it.
It will be interesting. Image in India - Bangladesh match there are 5 selections from the same match to pick and if you get all correct then say the odd offered is 7.00 which means you will get 7x of your stake. It's just like regular mutibet but the difference is that you are getting selections from the same match which none of the bookies offers of course.

Read the example giving in here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168384.msg53048654#msg53048654

I wonder how many of these posts would have been written if the poster wasnt part of a campaign of sorts.
If theymos decided to try out my experiment of a one-month signature ban, we would find out.
This will be really interesting to see. I hope he does this for some undeclared amount of time instead of saying a certain date to end.

It is different changelly is centralized service, this one is dcentralized and trustless.
This is interesting. How did you do that. I mean a little technical aspect will help me to understand and may be for the visitors too.
5853  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: November 11, 2019, 05:36:11 PM
I missed the entire match, i was not expecting an upset from Afghanistan because of their dismal performance throughout the tournament but Asghar Afghan and Nabi played a wonderful knock to take the team to a respectable total but Hope played a patient innings and scored a century to take the team to victory even though they lost two quick wickets at the start of the innings.
I could not watch the match but always kept an eye on the scoreboard since I had a good amount placed for WI. Afghanistan were really doing well but it was Hope who basically kept his mind cool and won the match with his not out 109 runs.

Pooran, Pollard, King and Chase supported him very well till the end.

If you can come up with those option then it will be interesting and i will be joining the pool as well, i have seen your pool earlier but i did not understand the idea of betting pool, what will be the odds we will be getting and so on, sorry if it is a novice question but in the last India Bangladesh match the odds were really low for India and hence i did not participate in the betting pool.

Here is a short explanation for you :
Quote
Pool betting, or more commonly known as pari-mutuel betting, refers to a popular and unique betting form that can be used on a variety of sporting events.

Instead of placing a bet against a sportsbook, you will place a bet against other people who have placed a bet on the same sporting event.

All bets that have been made will go into a pool, and the amount will be shared equally between everyone that placed bets on the winning selection.

As you might have guessed, a small portion of the total bets will be subtracted by the house.

With pari-mutuel betting, the house will refer to a private company or a state run organization which offers pari-mutuel betting as a service.
https://www.onlinegamblingsites.com/betting/pari-mutuel/

This image explained a bit better too.

And the one I am talking about here will have a fixed odd or course. It will be a simple multibet of x number of selection but the options will have from the same match which the bookies do not offer by the way.

Somebody else said it is likely to go over 21.5 games if he is not injury free. And in the last match I watched he didnt look all that healthy. Embarrassed
I chose this one to go three sets since the odds were better than the over 22.5 games this particular sportsbook offered.
I hope you win, I am out for today. Really not in the good mood to make anymore bet. I had some bets in a cricket match and won that so I am happy after all.

~snip~
It was a grand upset and Stefanos Tsitsipas earned his first win against Daniil Medvedev and because of the low odds i was lucky enough not to wage a bet in this match and even Nadal is not healthy and so i passed this match too, i thought of wagging a bet because Daniil Medvedev won all the matches against Stefanos Tsitsipas but the odds was the only thing that held me back, majority who waged a bet lost this bet i guess as no one expect this result.
I really did not do much analysis so I really do not regret. I have seen Medvedev in action in the last US open so choosing him was based on that performance. I really do not watch much tennis unless I really have so much free times.

This is just a forum. Since the intention to expose Bitcoin then why not we advertise bitcoin.org?

I thought that Afghanistan going win the match against west indies today because West Indies are loss the 2 wickets for 4 runs within 3overs but after that Shai hope take the match from Afghanistan I hope that he will be going to get is 7 ODI century today.
Well they now got Pollard too. Still this match is alive and anyone can win from here. Both my bets in this match and in the tennis match are doing worse LOL.

In the tennis match Medvedev lost his first set :-( Hope he comes back in the send set and win from there.

I think this Bitcoin Discussion board is a wrong board for this topic. The best suit will be Service Discussion (Altcoins)
Talking about the service - it seems like Changelly type ?
