DMD finished wallet code maintainance
next project is noblecoin transformation towards POS (with a small groestl algo POW part)

groestl is hot enough now with newest kernels

hot is no issue with gtx750ti and its the only GPU able earn its power cost and more

mining with other GPU can work only if u have free power or industrial power tarif somehow

groestl is very good performing on gtx750ti 7.5 mhash with 50w each card with system opverhead a 6 GPU rig make 45 mhash with 400w at the wall

coinwarez
--------------------------------------
Groestl
45 MH/s
400 Watts
 0.10 $/kWh

$1.48 /
$0.52 earnings
$0.96 for electricity
--------------------------------------

try that with any AMD card u lose money

(thats not a groestl issue that a issue for all kind of GPU mining same as asics get outdated very fast
its GPU with bad hashrate/powerconsumption ratio are just outdated now)

cryptonit

how many average total mining blocks per day?

average it will be around
24x60=1440

Keep in mind that 144 blocks go to Proof of Stake minting.
So the end result should be around 1296.

in theory pos blocks should add on top
but it might be pow dont see the difference and so creating less pow blocks

we let danbi have a look into it

so lets say for now POW blocks are expected between average 1200-1500 each day

more details will come when danbi enlight us

we got feedback from cryptsy
they confirm everything was ok with DMD wallet

Quote
...we update and maintain our wallets we are moving them to our new architecture...
Quote
...this had nothing to do with DMD or its blockchain. It was just internal maintenance......
Quote
...Depending on transaction volume this can take some time.....
Quote
It finished early this morning and im preparing to bring it back up now.

so i hope its now clear we did anything right at our release hardfork wallet process
and the maintenance that happened close to hardfork time did just look like we are responsible for it

cryptonit

how many average total mining blocks per day?

it aims to be average 1 POW each minute

so count the minutes or even better ask the blockexplorer

but let me do that for u

Block Time: September 29, 2014, 13:59:04 BLOCK 579857
Block Time: September 30, 2014, 13:58:20  BLOCK 581269
581269-579857=1412

so it means a few block less than expected where produced
other days a few block more

average it will be around
24x60=1440

i got from 3 different cryptsy people a answer that mullick will give us feedback tommorow

his highness the wallet maintainer dont speek with coin devs it seems

i bet 100 DMD he just started a resync of full blockchain even it wasnt required

i won 100 DMD Wink

He told me yesterday he was downloading the chain

still a miracle how they manage to sync so slow......

Is it going to be a centralized automatic checkpoint or a consensus-based one?
centralized automatic

We are glad to hear all of this and we all appreciate your willingness to help us.
Do you know what the timeframe will be for the POS/POW roll-out to be ready?

i guess its clear we in the phase to define coin specs

u dont start asking

"are we soon there"

when its not even decided where the car is driving  Cool

we will start analyzing noble blockchain for possible difficulties
in combination with new wallet code

the task here is basically 3 parts

move a blockchain onto another wallet base
change mining algorithm
enable pos

three tasks we did solve already for diamond
so we sure the best team that can help noblecoin in this journey
still any infos about how long it will take are speculations

i posted in a earlier post

estimate 1 month for a pos wallet

and another 1 month for merge mining ability

and i also said 1 month can easy become 3 months if obstacles appear in the process

people might ask how expensive is our help

and the answer is all we asking for is jason include diamond in his eCommerce activities

side by side with noble

so when u wana support us support him

so cryptsy even after it had correct wallet after hardfork
(we tested deposit and withdraw successful with them)
now move into this miracle maintenance

@Cryptonit

Have you managed to get any information from Cryptsy regarding the reason for this DMD wallet maintenance?

How will Multipool payouts be handled during Cryptsy maintenance  time? And the upcoming Cloudmining payouts?

had a chat today with the support people
but in the end  all they could say me is

the engineer that is working on DMD wallet will give me feedback in 24h

i think the truth is the other people even dont know why its on maintainance

so we need to wait for feedback from mullick

i wouldnt wonder if the only thing that is happening is a resync of wallet
even if we told them its not required

i see no reason for a long maintenance and so start of DMD cloudmining DMD payouts wont be in danger

but yes as long as usecryptos market isnt filled with a living amount of buy and sell orders we are forced to stick with cryptsy so multipool DMD payouts are delayed at the moment
5891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - *GOING PoS*NOBL/$USD*MARKETPLACE*55 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS* on: September 29, 2014, 01:12:22 PM

If you don't have enough 24/7 staking wallets, the only security of the blockchain comes from PoW which is at a very low difficulty, thus the attack is simple:

trust me we spend lot time into both problems u describe
and there will be foundation run 24/7 staking wallets
and the POW will be not diamond or noblecoin only
but a merged mining for all coins (at stage two at stage one merged mining wont be implemented)
of the diamond groestl merge mine family
and we will make sure there is always at least one high pow reward coin part of the family and create POW security for all coins

but its always good get feedback from people with experience in the business
hope u see that we also have experience

also ur hidden chain attack wont work against our checkpoint
the hidden chain just missing the checkpoint timestamps
no "good" wallet will sync block from hostile wallets

in the timewindow where a hidden chain can merge again with main chain
following would happen

the hidden chain wallets would reorg all their blocks and accept the main chain as truth

tested and proven

did reorg over 400 blocks throw them away and stick with main chain

i hope u understand diamond and its code base is one of the most attacked ones
and survive all that made our code be very restistent now against all kind of attacks

immunity dont exist but a dedicated dev team can overcome all future "challenges" too
5892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, 50% POS Active on: September 29, 2014, 12:43:59 PM
so cryptsy even after it had correct wallet after hardfork
(we tested deposit and withdraw successful with them)
now move into this miracle maintenance

opens a chance again for usecryptos
get some buy and sell order up there
u can try mirror prices from cryptsy

so the only difference would be that its a working exchange
instead a isolated no deposit no withdraw one like on cryptsy

5893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - *GOING PoS*NOBL/$USD*MARKETPLACE*55 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS* on: September 29, 2014, 10:20:27 AM
ensure enough wallets are staking at all times (otherwise, the network will just fork or stall, or both).

the wallet will be hybrid POW/POS
POS function is secure and reward stakeholders
in emergency cases like DMD had once it can run POS only too
but the goal is that transaction speed is gurantee by POW
security is from POW/POS hybrid secure blockchain mechanism

u cant compare that to pure POS coins
they have other requirements

pure POW and pure POS is easyer to maintain

but we not here to have a easy to maintain wallet

we here to create the best security and redundant systems that keep coin running even if there
is a POW or POS problem happening that let that part of coin generation stuck

the big advantage noblecoin get by share wallet code with DMD Diamond is
u have active development non stop

what we talking here is way more than only enable POS for noblecoin

rofo try to do great stuff in area of ecommerce
diamond try to create the best bitcoin origin POW/POS hybrid coin
and in my opinion we very close to fulfill that claim

together both teams can create a great future for both coins

Anybody know if UseCrypto's is on correct wallet?

Yes we're updated.

Would be nice to be informed by email tho.

thats true
shame on me

so thats good for usecryptos
another time their fast reaction time
give them a advantage over cryptsy
maybe give them a second chance
https://www.usecryptos.com/market/DMD-BTC
for now not lot people use them
5895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - *GOING PoS*NOBL/$USD*MARKETPLACE*55 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS* on: September 29, 2014, 06:22:56 AM
More idea sharing please! Maybe something will be possible and make a nice feature for nobl Smiley

If NOBL wants a new type of PoS to separate itself from the rest - go for a variable interest rate based a new parameter - maybe called resident age or something. The longer you hold noble within a certain coin address without exchanging it elsewhere, the more interest those coins gain. I would say give it an exponential equation and then cap it at a certain amount. This way the most benefit is from holding very long.

While coin supply will never be capped, if you constantly record data and track inflation, these parameters can be tweaked to ensure reasonable overall coin inflation rate. And this should be made clear up front that the first 1-2 years are experimental years and that the interest rates will be tweaked periodically (say every 6 months). Then you can work out how to get to 5 billion in the remaining 3-4 years.

With a market cap of $50K, you have a lot more room to look into making some drastic changes. Smiley

Anyway, just my idea. I would love to see some coin do this and I don't believe any PoS coin yet has.

that even if nice idea maybe isnt what im asking for Wink
u dont want to wait another 6 months for POS
so we go with DMD POS framework and your POS settings

here are the details about DMD POS
http://bit.diamonds/community/index.php/topic,46.msg376.html#msg376

in case of NOBLE POS the framework will be the same
the amount of coins is different and the POS reward rates and triggers can be different.

some kind of dynamic adjustment is part of DMD trigger rules
because we as only coin on market use total coins as triggers and not blocknumber

this way our triggers always get fired at the moment
we want no matter if more or less people did POS than expected

lets give ya a example how NOBLE POS could set up

early adopter reward phase
up to 3 billion coins POS reward 100%
then a moderate POS coin rollout
up to 4 billion coins POS reward 30%
up to 5 billion coins POS reward 20%
up to 6 billion coins POS reward 10%
finally a endless POS secure network and minimal inflation rate
after  6 billion coins POS reward  1%

this is less than half of example mintcoin coin amount
and mintcoin is able still hold his place in BTC markets

i wouldnt aim for any higher final coin amount

but maybe a smaller one if u aim for 4 billion at last 1% trigger it wouldnt hurt too
this way the triggers before must be adjusted to something like

early adopter reward phase
up to 2.5 billion coins POS reward 100%
then a moderate POS coin rollout
up to 3 billion coins POS reward 30%
up to 3.5 billion coins POS reward 20%
up to 4 billion coins POS reward 10%
finally a endless POS secure network and minimal inflation rate
after  4 billion coins POS reward  1%

basical i prefer that second model
to be a single digit satoshi coin on market is a difficult position
(if only trade jumps of 10% are possible....)
lower total coins amount can help leave that spot

so beside think about revolutionary new POS ideas
lets decide on the adjustments u want for NOBLE out of the available POS ruleset

the Diamond way is integrate "revolutionary" stuff when its proven as part of wallet "evolution"

and NOBLE community is sure same mindset security and stability first

Updated 2nd version of diamond-qt-2.0.4.exe works on the first try.  I got the original version over a week ago.  popshot posted it, with no mention of release candidate or beta.

I bet Cryptsy is using the nonfunctional first version also.  If so, good luck explaining that one.

source and other wallets where correct from begin just windows
wallet by a mistake wrong was downloadable a few hours

but we informed people here in thread

im pretty sure cryptsy dont run on precompiled windows wallets
5897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, 50% POS Active on: September 28, 2014, 03:02:01 PM
Redownloading windows wallet solved the issue. imho it would have been better to release a version 2.0.4.1, that would have kept things clearly.

thx for confirming
agree we will use last version digit in future for that

im trying to find out why cryptsy have DMD wallet in maintainance mode
maybe they resync even if it wasnt required?
no reply until yet

@hallared its a defaulttext answer for any coin under maintainance

LOL.. stuck on 577851. It won't sync. as I suspected. 540 blocks behind and counting.
Fresh database before 577851 is useless.

so tell us first what u have done exact then we can give u answers

wallet version
what blockchain u did download  and so on....

if u go with
