601  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does anyone use Bitpay? on: October 12, 2017, 04:55:58 AM
I have a BitPay card.  I really like it.  In my opinion, it isn't practical to use a BitPay account to purchase Bitcoin, in fact, I'm not even sure you can.  What it's convenient for is when you have BTC and need a small to medium amount of cash on a financial card for whatever reason.  Obviously there are a ton of merchants, especially in the real world, that don't accept Bitcoin.  It's nice to be able to take 500 bucks from your BTC wallet and throw it on your BitPay card, which is instant, and have it on a debit/credit card for use anywhere Visa is accepted, like getting gas, or a hotel room, or hitting up an ATM.

I agree, I use a BitPay card for the same reason but might have to change my plans if they go along with all this 2x nonsense. It's getting annoying.
602  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: https://www.btchook.com - New Bitcoin Webhook Notification Service on: October 12, 2017, 04:53:49 AM
Would you consider adding support for WebSockets? As a developer, they're super great because of the low latency and they're generally easy to work with.
603  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CryptoWall - crypto promotion site on: October 11, 2017, 06:50:04 PM
So it's like some kind of take on the million dollar homepage, except with just coins instead of websites? I mean it looks good and the idea's alright it's just that it's been done so many times before.

Massive email giveaway, all registered users check your emails for free BTC!
Got the email, will claim the bonus. let's see if i could make something good out of it. Grin

why do i see this error message "Oops, an unexpected error occurred." every time i open stake (on my mobile browser).

same error with firefox browser must be a bug

I had the same error every time and fixed it by clearing my cookies/site data for stake.com. Seems like something the team should have been able to fix themselves though.
605  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How the blockchain technology could better address money laundering issues on: October 06, 2017, 12:22:24 PM
I can't see anybody that understands the.point of Bitcoin supporting this, ever. This totally goes against what the network is for. This reminds me of when people were thinking about implementing coin blacklists. In a sense, you're proposing a coin whitelist, which is evern worse and sounds like a dystopian nightmare brought into crypto.
606  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Digital Bitbox (a hardware wallet) Discussion on: October 05, 2017, 04:00:35 AM
So the bitbox actually just acts like a "gateway" or second layer of encryption for signing messages and transactions?
Kind of.

The best description for it is a signer-on-a-stick. It holds private keys and gives you an ECDSA signature for whatever data you give it (and a few other things, but those are less relevant). It does not matter whether you are signing messages, transactions, or arbitrary data, it will sign it. This means that it works for anything that needs an ECDSA signatures, including things that are not cryptocurrencies.

Thanks for clearing that up, I was not aware for that. What other prominent altcoins use ECDSA, or rather which ones don't use ECDSA? Is there software support for any of those other coins yet?

I've added yet another feature to AM, you can now send mail to other users (if you're at least level Cool. Just type !mail send <id> and AM will ask you for your message and deliver it accordingly the next time your recipient is seen in chat.

Please note that I will ban anybody I find abusing this service from using AM. Don't be the reason others can't have nice things.

Thanks for adding that. But what about privacy? Can't we pm our message to AM after typing !mail and it automatically saves and  the message.

You are correct, in fact AM will only accept your message if you PM it to him. The privacy part is referring to how I may need to occasionally look at the database. I don't plan on doing that though, now that it's working.
608  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for a simple API for receiving Bitcoin on: October 04, 2017, 05:01:34 PM
Have you thought about standing up an instance with Bitcoin core and interacting directly with the RPC?

It may not be the most cost effective solution but it offers you the most control in the long run. You can still used derived keys for your cold storage etc.

I agree. The whole point of Bitcoin is not having to rely on third-parties for your transaction data. Run a node yourself, and you'll be a lot more confident in your project, as well as not having to re-do everything if the API/service you use hits a rate cap/goes out of business, or if you need additional features in the future.
609  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Digital Bitbox (a hardware wallet) Discussion on: October 04, 2017, 04:59:49 PM
Same here. Does it worth it? Or ledger/trezor is better?
The Ledger Nano S and Trezor are definitely better by my standards because they both include altcoin support, something the bitbox lacks. However, I'm having trouble finding the Nano S in stock in the US and the bitbox is slightly cheaper. Additionally, more hardware wallets is a good thing because it encourages competition.

611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Will it be possible to split SegWit2x coins from the current network? on: October 02, 2017, 01:18:28 AM
Since there is a lack of replay protection, is there any mechanism through which we can send coins separately on the different networks?
612  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST play/invest, up to 30% RAKEBACK, JACKPOT, tipbot, faucet on: October 01, 2017, 05:54:01 PM
Ethan, what's the site's stance on 2x? If possible, will we be able to split tokens like with BCH? Do I need to take out my investment to hold my own coins for a while to deal with this? Thanks
613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: An ICO for body flying. Does it sound inteeresting to you? on: October 01, 2017, 04:06:42 PM
- You have numerous spelling and grammar errors on your website and whitepaper, but also mention in the disclaimer in the footer of the whitepaper that English is the primary language of the whitepaper.
- Why the hell do you need a token for this, you don't even mention what the token is for
- Your "click to call us" link isn't even a link, just like the instagram and twitter links
- You thank "15 partner companies" and conveniently don't mention the names of any of them

Get your cash grab bullshit out of this forum.
614  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Leger S, switch off during not yet confirmed? on: September 30, 2017, 05:27:41 PM
Was thinking of buying one for myself, thank you for those answers.

Can we keep all the ERC20 tokens and transact them with it.?

According to a quick google search, you can access ERC20 tokens in your Ethereum wallet through MyEtherWallet, or Geth, or Parity. I believe it uses the same Ethereum wallet that's natively supported on the ledger with the tokens, the first-party software just hasn't gotten support for ERC20 tokens yet but it looks like they're planning on adding it.

So to answer your question, yes, just not with the native app.
615  Economy / Gambling / Re: looks like bitkong site is secretly mining on users machine - (Browsermining) !! on: September 30, 2017, 05:24:07 PM
how can one verify if they are doing this with certainty?
It's pretty obvious, when you navigate to their website you'll be able to see your CPU usage go up dramatically and when you close it, it goes back down. You can tell for sure usually if you look through the source of the website but that's not as easy as just opening task manager.
616  Economy / Gambling / Re: looks like bitkong site is secretly mining on users machine - (Browsermining) !! on: September 30, 2017, 04:34:05 PM
Coinhive (https://coinhive.com) makes it really easy to integrate mining into your webpage, without notifying the user.
The anonymous nature of Monero makes this even more attractive for website owners or
people who gained access to the source code of a website in a malicious way.

I fear that we will see a ton of similar incidents in the future.

I've never seen that site before. The idea of using crypto mining as a captcha is...interesting. I've certainly never seen it before. I wonder if we'll start to see this kind of stuff elsewhere.
617  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice | Creators of Dicing 🎲 | Most Popular & Trusted | 109 BTC Jackpot! on: September 30, 2017, 03:54:31 PM
Why it is so hard to hit the jackpot? Simply because it's all worth it. C'mon it's over a hundred BTC so expect that the chance is so small to hit it. Let's say you're the owner, wouldn't you do the same condition as what pd does with their jackpot. Who's owner will offer a jackpot with such amount without a very small chance? I bet no one. It's like the main event in sports, the main attraction. So it's way harder to hit than hitting 9900x.

I dont mind about the so small chance to hit the jackpot, but it is more about the jackpot system which is manual. I think many people will try to hit it with the lowest eligible bet amount (0.0001 for 1%) if the system is automatic. It is not fun to watch all the bets we made if we are only hunt for the jackpot. I hope they can make it into automatic system soon.
There's really no excuse for having the jackpot be manual, the only reason it's like that is so that players don't notice if they hit it.
618  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Blockplate: A simpler way of storing your recovery seed (in metal) on: September 30, 2017, 12:14:19 AM
I gotta say, I'm a fan of all these metal hardware-wallet options out there. Although unfortunately unlike some metal "wallets" out there, this one can't be undone once you mark the metal, so you couldn't re-use it, but that could be a desirable quality. Glad to see another option on the market. On your site, is the $40 for the two pack or for a single plate?
619  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: IDEAS AND HELP FOR HUGE ICO PROJECT on: September 30, 2017, 12:07:42 AM
thanks for the reply but no need to say i wanna launch a scam ico. i coach several people all around the world and manage groups with over 1,000 ecom entrepreneurs. i know what i am doing and i know how to make things work and if i dont i will learn how to make them work. that being said, i also know that an ico can be raised without actually having the coins etc. ready. but i was just looking for some advanced people who would guide me what the best would be in my situation. i dont wanna do something wrong or present an idea and just realize someone else does it faster than me because of those issues mentioned above. i want this project to succeed and im this kind of person if i start something i will make it happen no matter what it takes. so its really just about getting some help for the crypto world how to NOT do it wrong. and i get your point why its so hard but i mean every ico or company starts at 0 don't forget that Cheesy

I have a hard time believing that anybody that manages that many successful people can't even write proper English. You can talk big all you want but this just reeks of "I want to make money from an ICO without doing any real work".
620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: South Korea Bans ICO's/Your Opinion on: September 29, 2017, 07:42:46 PM
I've got conflicted feelings. I hate ICOs, because all the people doing them now don't need all the money they're raising, don't have an actual product or plan to build one, or a little bit of both. People jump in on them exclusively to make money without doing a lick of research. I don't think people should participate in them.

I also begrudgingly accept that we probably will need government regulation to get more people to join the crypto ecosystem.

So I think it's a good thing, in the short and the long term, but any time governments start to mess with crypto I get a little concerned.
