There isn't a way to know it now, but I remeber earlier, your Ignore button would have a background glow when enough people would ignore you.

644  Other / Meta / Re: Replacing DefaultTrust on: January 09, 2015, 02:04:38 PM
Well, no matter what the trust system will look like in the future, the more I think about it, I'd like to see the user-edited trust list go away.

Most people just don't understand that you don't put users whom you trust in your trust list, but rather users where you believe that they maintain a good trust list themselves. This has been a problem from the start and it probably won't ever be a non-problem.

Get rid of the trust list! Now. Angry

Not on depth 0.

646  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Rudarenje on: January 08, 2015, 07:11:32 PM

648  Other / Meta / Re: Akka - Default trust account hacked! - confirmed 2x on: January 08, 2015, 09:21:46 AM
Wasn't that guessing the dob exploit allegedly used to gain access to satoshis gmx account? It is interesting how many people are losing their accounts here via their email, especially when most don't have their address publicly displayed.

Probably because the majority of members here use either gmx or gmail. And it's probably username@one-of-those.com
So it's not that hard to guess.

Note to self: Start an email server.
649  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinfire Bitstamp update on: January 08, 2015, 09:07:10 AM
must be a joke..

a joke of 22,000 USD ?

hacker moving those for fun or stealing more?

Hardly stealing more. It's probably the same coins, being thrown around.
I don't think Bitstamp would leave their hot wallet automation on after the hack.

What automation?

Bitstamp has a hot wallet and it gets compromised: that just means that the hacker gets full control of those addresses. There is no way for Bitstamp to "disable" them, the best they can do is to tell people to stop sending coins to those addresses because a hacer has the private keys.

If a Bitstamp customer is not aware of the current situation and just sends BTC to an old deposit address he has in his address book there's nothing Bitstamo could do. Money would go to the hacker, especially if he is faster that Bitstamp and uses huge transactions fees to beat any double spending attempt by Bitstamp.

I thought only that address was their hot wallet. Nevermind.

652  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which Bitcoin Exchange do you use and why ? on: January 08, 2015, 12:07:23 AM

BTC-E is the best. Here are the reasons:

5. Right now, the largest BTC volumes.
6. Never been hacked or DDoSed.

Plus, I remember them having a bit higher-than-standard trading fees.

Stop comparing it to MtGox. That just shows, that you guys have no idea, what you are talking about.
I am not 100% sure, but there is no evidence that would suggest, that customers will have to pay for that incident.

In business the customers always pay eventually. When I was operating my business and my electric rate went up or delivery costs went up my prices went up. That's the nature of business and why a McDonalds hamburger isn't still 15 cents.
In your case, it was your future customers that ended up needing to pay higher prices. They were also notified of such changes ahead of time.

In the case of stamp it will be their existing customers that will pay the piper

Ok, so? Someone has to pay and in business it's always the customer.

yes, the customers will pay the price for trusting the Bitstamp's platform.
I am very curious to see if they will really open tomorrow IF not, a big fiasco will begin.

It will be MtGox 2 or reloaded(as you prefer) Smiley

If they do open it will be to the worst bank run in the history of Bitcoin.  Grin

they lost most of their clients trust. they will reopen to close.

Not necessarily. If they manage to issue a full refund to users, there's not so much trouble. I agree, they have lost users' trust, but I don't see it destroying the exchange completely. It's still the largest non-asian exchange out there.
656  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp's stolen BTC on the move on: January 07, 2015, 01:04:15 PM
If I were the hacker, I wouldn't try to sell the tumbled coins on an exchange (with KYC) for quite some time, too risky.
Instead, I would send them to multiple altcoin exchanges (that have no KYC) and pump up some less traceable alts.
Another possibility is to sell some of the tumbled BTC to fences on localbitcoins.

Personally, I'd keep the BTC and sell in case of needing fiat. I mean, the guy(s) hacked Bitstamp, they know what they're doing and what Bitcoin is.
657  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp's stolen BTC on the move on: January 07, 2015, 12:49:16 PM
I love this shit!

The miners must be pretty happy too, with all the tx fees Grin
658  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp's stolen BTC on the move on: January 07, 2015, 11:49:27 AM
...
Haha.. BitStamp must have blacklisted them by now and they must be tracking each and every address where these coins go. There is no easy escape for the thief.

I hope you are right. I had no funds (by chance) on Bitstamp when this shit happened, but I still feel worried.
Can they follow the coins even if they get tumbled? Are miners and tumbling services willing to help Bitstamp?

I'm guessing they wish Instawallet still existed Grin

In case you don't know what I'm saying:

The BTC you would get into Instawallet would go into a wallet, and when you would withdraw out, you'd get entirely different bitcoins - from another wallet that have absolutely no relation to your BTC.
Not sure if it could actually be done with 19k BTC, but I'm guessing that it would.

you are talking about inputs.io. afaik instawallet was address based like blockchain.info
(this also is a risk: blockchain.info could not steal your btc, but inputs.io like systems always can)

Never used inputs.io, but I'm 100% sure about what I'm saying about Instawallet. They had a wallet, and when you withdrew, you would get BTC out of random addresses.

Let's hope they will dump in btc-e  and all my bids  get filled. Or maybe bitstamp, have orders there too.  Grin

Imagine Bitstamp buying back these same bitcoins Cheesy
