661  Economy / Gambling / ✔ Overview of Provably Fair Sites ✔ on: September 21, 2017, 02:29:02 AM
Purpose
The purpose of this thread is to look in-depth at the provable fairness systems of as many sites as possible and categorize them based on their strength and any potential flaws. This should enable players to make better decisions as to where to play, and what to watch out for. This thread only attempts to categorize sites that claim to be provably fair, sites that do not claim to be provably fair are outside the scope of this thread.

List
Site | Thread | Provably Fair| Nonce| Client Seed| Currencies
BitDice| Thread| With effort/False*| No| 3-30 [a-z,A-Z,0-9]| BTC, LTC, ETH, DOGE
Just-Dice| Thread| Yes| Yes| 1-24 [a-z,A-Z,0-9]| CLAM
Primedice| Thread| Yes| Yes| 1-32 [a-z,A-Z,0-9,special]| BTC
SafeDice| Thread| Yes| Yes| 1-15 [a-z,A-Z,0-9]| BTC, XMR, BCH
YOLOdice| Thread| Yes| Yes| 6-128 [a-z,A-Z,0-9,-_ ]| BTC

*: BitDice has a combination of first-party provably fair games and third-party non provably fair games.

Key
Yes| I have personally reviewed this system and found it satisfactory
With effort| The system is provably fair, but requires the user to jump through more hoops than usual.
False| This site claims to be provably fair but either is not or has a large hole in their system

Explanation
Yes: Usually consists of the following: The site generates a server seed and presents the hash of the server seed to the user before betting. Additionally, the user supplies the site with a client seed before betting. This is necessary to ensure that the numbers are generated randomly. A nonce is also generally used so that the user is not required to change their client seed between every bet.

With effort: Usually consists of the above, but either there is no nonce, requiring the user to change their client seed between every bet to remain fair, or there is some other "block" making it more difficult to verify bets.

False: The site claims to be fair, but is not. Could be many things, including but not limited to:
  • No client seed is used, so the site can arbitrarily choose the outcome
  • Outcomes are not generated deterministically, could claim to be using random numbers from an outside source (Random.org). This is not provably fair, as these claims cannot be proved.

Notes
If you want your site added to this list, please reply below with the URL and a link to the thread in the gambling section of your site. Sites are added when I have time to review the system.

662  Economy / Gambling / Re: Play Poker Online with Bitcoin - Multiplayer Game - US Player Friendly on: September 20, 2017, 10:27:47 PM
It's curious to see that you explicitly support US players joining. Most sites that allow US players don't make a big deal about it, probably because of the possible implications if the government decides to crack down on online betting.
663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Only 10 days until the SegWit2x fork on: September 20, 2017, 10:23:59 PM
No, there's ~40 days left. You've got your numbers mixed up. Anyhow, SegWit2x has almost zero community support and is nothing other than an attack from Jihan, i.e. takeover attempt. Run Core and avoid those baboons.
It wont be in 10 days. November 18  is around the date we can expect block 494784, which is when Segwit2x should hard fork to 2MB blocks.
Oops, you're right. I'm not sure where I got the September 30th date from.

I do agree with the other voices in this thread that SegWit2x has a right to exist, but as those people have already pointed out, this thread is about personal support.

seggy2x is pointless because of BCH.
I actually disagree with you here, because I would support SegWit2x before I supported BCH, simply because of the existence of SegWit and relatively smaller block sizes in 2x.

My stance is a fairly liberal one.  I'm always inclined to take the position that everyone having complete and total freedom to run whatever code they choose is infinitely preferable to a scenario where one group dictates to all the other groups what they can or can't do.  I don't subscribe to the notion some people around here seem to endorse, that one single development team should make all the decisions for the rest of forever and everyone else should obey.  I'm happy to endure a little turbulence and open rebellion if it keeps the would-be authoritarians in this community in check.

The miners are perfectly entitled to secure a 2mb base and 6mb witness chain if that's what they want to do with their hashpower.  I don't know where anyone gets off thinking they can dictate to other people what chain they have to secure.  Similarly, the Core devs are perfectly entitled to change the mining algorithm on the 1mb base and 3mb witness chain making the miner's hardware all but useless on it.  In the end, everyone gets what they think they want.  At least until they change their mind when it doesn't work out as well as they thought it would.  Which could still happen after the fork.  The split might be permanent, but it might not.  We'll have to see how it plays out.

As for the poll, I support the right for SegWit2x to exist if people want it to.  I'm not sure if that's what you had in mind for an answer,  though.

I agree with all of your points, even though I may prefer the one chain over the other, what you said is true in my mind.

GreenAddress supports 2FA by means of multisig transactions, it's done very well. If you're looking for examples you should look there.
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why hackers want to get paid/ransom in bitcoins? on: September 20, 2017, 04:08:24 PM
Bitcoin well known in the world because its anonymity,
which mean it's very very hard to detect, that is why the hacker choose it as a place to send the money from their victim.
This just isn't true. Bitcoin is pseudo-anonymous, and very easily traceable. Especially if you know the attacker's address, tracing it is easy. However, the chain can be broken by mixers or other online wallets.

The main reason it is used is because it is completely irreversible. Once they have the money, nobody can forcibly take it away from them.
666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Only 58 days until the SegWit2x fork on: September 20, 2017, 03:58:03 PM
SegWit2x is a hard fork of the Bitcoin protocol happening on September 30th as a result of the New York Agreement. The fork changes the max block size from 1MB to 2MB. Unlike Bitcoin Cash, SegWit2x has no replay protection, meaning that transactions on one network can be broadcast on the other, sending both your Bitcoin coins and your SegWit2x coins to the same address. This makes it very hard/impossible to only send one or the other coin.

These are the facts, what follows are the opinions of me and some other members of the community.

  • SegWit2x is an attack on Bitcoin, designed to move control of the software design from the developers into the hands of the miners.
  • The blocksize should not be increased until all other measures to make the network more efficient have been exhausted (Lightning Network, Schnorr Signatures, MAST,
    etc.)

Here's what you can do to oppose this:
  • Run a full node (At least v0.15.0) to support standard network rules.
  • Contact companies that support SegWit2x still and request they change their stance.

This is just what I think. I would like to know what the rest of the community's position on this is, as a lot of my opinion is admittedly from /r/Bitcoin, which can be an echo chamber at times. I encourage everyone to have a discussion on this so that everyone can make fully informed decisions.

Edit: It appears I was grossly mistaken in how many days are remaining. I have edited the title to reflect that.
667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will the lightning network become operational? on: September 19, 2017, 11:48:15 PM
There was a post on /r/Bitcoin today about this, I believe the summary was that alpha releases for people interested in testing on the Mainnet will be available in roughly two weeks, and then after that a full release. There are 3 different teams for 3 different implementations working very hard to make sure that all implementations work with each other and they're doing their best so I'd say in a month or so you'll start to see the first people using it.
668  Economy / Gambling / Re: Investing in btc casinos on: September 18, 2017, 11:36:02 PM
Can You recommend some trused one's? I was thinking about it lately, but can't find anything trusty enought to put more than 0.01BTC there.

I personally invest in YOLOdice (Referral link). It's one of the best sites I've seen in the past 4 years, very well thought out and full-featured. I've written a bet verifier for the site that you can find here. If you have any questions about the site, I can answer them here or in PM.

Could you please explain in detail your fairness system? It doesn't seem fair at all if the user can't insert their own entropy into the system. It looks to me like you just hash the result before every single roll, making it near impossible for anybody to actually verify things unless they stop between every roll and check. In addition to this train wreck, you can just pick bets that would make the user lose if they don't change their strategy.

Not to mention this site has all the markings of some pre-made script sold to somebody that has no idea how to operate a site, and while it might look pretty when it first loads doesn't seem to have much functionality at all.

So far I have no idea how to verify my bet at all because you don't even tell me how you get the result.

Who won Jackpot 2? I noticed it's lost 80% of it's value, did anybody see who hit it?
674  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST play/invest, level up, win more, have fun! on: September 14, 2017, 05:01:27 PM
Hey guys, my price bot now works slightly differently but much better. It now works like so:

!btc usd will give you the bitcoin price in USD
!btc usd 0.05 will give you the price of 0.05 BTC in USD
!usd btc 20 will give you the amount of bitcoins 20 USD would buy

You can also use any other fiat currency supported by coindesk's API, which is a lot more than blockchain.info's API.

!btc php
etc...

Hope you like it

Edit: I've also just added !last, which will give you information about the last block, including it's height, how many transactions were in it and how long ago it was.

Edit 2: I have now also added !mempool, which gives the size of the mempool and !seen, which will tell you the last time a user was seen (works with names and ID)
675  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice | Creators of Dicing 🎲 | Most Popular & Trusted | 109 BTC Jackpot! on: September 13, 2017, 09:55:11 PM
i like primedice but the only thing that kept me away from them is that their faucet is too small
If your only problem with a gambling site is that they're not giving away enough money for you then maybe you shouldn't be going on that site because you obviously cannot afford to lose.
676  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST play/invest, level up, win more, have fun! on: September 13, 2017, 09:52:39 PM
Hi Ethan. Investments seem to have performed remarkably well, currently 144 BTC profit vs expected of 95 profit. It seems since late July the rate of increase of profit is at a different gradient to expected increase. Also volatility of returns are pretty low.
My question is do you think investors have just been extremely lucky or is it the case sooner or later the gamblers are going to have a series of huge wins causing a big drawdown? Can you check the 'expected return' graph and confirm it's accurate (i.e. maybe the gradient should be steeper)?

Expected profit is just that, expected and not guaranteed. It could be lower or it could be higher, and right now it is higher.

However, being around these sites long enough I can tell you that more often than not people don't play as smart as they could and it ends up losing them money in the long run, because of bad "strategies" or other fallacies. So I believe that even a year from now you'll still see the site profit well above the expected profit. The only time it really starts to deviate is when big whales come to play.

Sidenote, Ethan, can you please, please lower the withdraw fee. Blocks aren't full and transactions are confirming for pennies yet I'm forced to pay $3 every time I need to get money out of the site. It's an insult and an embarrassment.
677  Economy / Gambling / Re: Satoshimines - Consistent and very profitable Bot! #BETA Version on: September 13, 2017, 08:07:55 PM
But the question is how can you determine on which tiles are mostly being clicked? This is why i do really have negative doubts on this one because i dont really believe that you can able to exploit the house itself. If they are not fair then i guess having some patterns would really be discovered.but how??

Well if it's per-player you can bet a bunch on the same tiles many times in a row then bet on completely different tiles. It could possibly be possible to exploit a house doing this, but it depends on if they take into account the amount of the wager and such. But remember that the house is completely in control of what tiles the mines end up on for every game.
678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you catch the falling knife? on: September 13, 2017, 04:48:34 PM
Personally I believe the drop in price is due mostly to people selling without knowing why they're selling. People see news and sell, without even understanding what the news means or even if the news is real or valid. I've been buying as much as I can afford recently because I see no reason for the drop.

Even if there was a good reason for the drop, I'd probably still be buying because I'm always bullish long on Bitcoin. I believe most people that are on these forums are too however, so it can turn into kind of an echo chamber in here.
679  Economy / Gambling / Re: Satoshimines - Consistent and very profitable Bot! #BETA Version on: September 13, 2017, 04:35:47 PM
Hi,

Thank you for sharing this bot! I have been using for the past 17 hours and i'm in profit ~23,000 bits (0.023 BTC). But it sometimes stops after 5-6 hours running and i need to start again. Maybe its the website security?

May be you should at least give the prove rather than boosting their thread up again. Because OP and many alt accounts said that they always profitable but never shoe any proof. More over you have a red trust, why shouls they believe on what you saying here. I am sure many people want to try this bot but still no prove of solid strategy will not make them buy this script
You are right and its not surprising that those people who do said that its working is just an alt of OP for sure and now a veteran member with red trust did say some positive words in here without any strong proofs on what he claims. No fool will really buy this bot because all people know that even having a bot or scripts wont really make you profitable on long term. You will really busted up no matter what.
I'm not saying anything about the validity of the bot here, only that the premise is plausible. Gambling bots normally cannot ever win in the long term, this is true. But for satoshimines, it is possible because the site is not really provably fair. Their system only guarantees that they do not change the result from before the bet to after, not that they don't determine the result. It's possible for them to put the mines on the most clicked squares because of this, and if this were true, theoretically you could make a bot/script/program that attempts to play this and profits.

Hello everyone!

My chat bot has begun to take shape and can be found in chat as AM(80675). Right now it only has one command, but I'll be working on adding more in the near future.

  • !price [currency] - Fetch the latest price from Blockchain.info's API. If a valid 3 digit currency code is included after, it will give the price for that currency instead of USD.
  • Example: !price | !price EUR | !price AUD

If you don't get the name, it's from the short story I have No Mouth, and I Must Scream where the evil, all-seeing all-powerful AI is named AM.
