Hey Y'all - I've been throwing some icon ideas together on Github:

https://github.com/izzzaya/bottlecaps-iconography

I've included some of the visuals created for @bottlecapsbuzz on the Tweeter.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

zzz

I think these are pretty good.  The only one I am not a huge fan of is  cap_32x.png and cap_32px.png, otherwise I do like them.

@5ick3uffalo

Can you be more specific? What do you man by classic design?

I had a strange experience yesterday, a single block created thirteen orphans in a row trying to stake. Is this normal?

Not normal, but as long as you are in sync and have gotten an accepted stake now, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

If you have the debug.log file from the time during the orphans I wouldn't mind taking a look at it. Also what version are you on, and were you doing anything on the computer or with the client at the time.

Hmm... interesting... now it's working.  Don't know what I did or didn't do.  But we've got blocks getting downloaded, etc.  Yea, me.

Good to hear. Sometimes getting that first peer can be tricky after that it should be good to go.
664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5 Beta Release 2 - Full S4C on: October 16, 2014, 03:39:04 AM
I downloaded the Hobocoin wallet, ran it, and... nothing.  Out of sync and no network connections... period.  I've tried three different versions 4.0.0, 4.0.1, and the latest beta of 1.5... all do the same thing.  I'm running Windows 7.  What's wrong?  How can I fix it?  Is the wallet network dead or down or something?

Just need a addnode or 2.

click on debug window -> console
type addnode IP add

Example
addnode 192.99.13.127 add

You are all welcome. Thanks to the community as well.

I just about completed the last change I wanted to do . I will be releasing the final beta 1.4.99 here in the next day or so. After that burns in, we will begin the fork code change and officially release 1.5.

run rpc command keypoolrefill 500 or even higher like 1000+. (Can take a bit of time)
Then take backup. You will be safe for a good while.

it's important for who have 1 or 2 address on wallet ?

Backups are important for everyone. How often you take a backup depends on how often you send coins, including S4C.

My post it mean about use command "keypoolrefill 500 or 1000" it's important for who have 1 or 2 address on wallet ? not include normal backup.
I backup wallet.dat (File->Backup Wallet) everyday and Core backup (C:\Users\****\AppData\Roaming\HyperStake) every 2 days.
it's enough? , I never use S4C option.

Wallets contain many more than 1 or 2 address. The rest are just hidden and reserved.

If all you do is stake, then a weekly backup is more than enough.

Ok finally got that refactor completed.

https://github.com/Tranz5/HoboNickels/commit/de48d363c150bb6918e7d70f17f3a0e71b49182b

Not much left to do now..

@Biomech thank you for the explanation.
But for other POS coins there is only 1 wallet address of is something in the source we normally not aware of but is used in HyperStake?
If I follow the steps correct to make blocks with the right value 1000-3000 then I can not get extra addresses only when I send HYP to an other address and the block is not completely consumed. Using coin control I can prevent that by just split a block into 2 new blocks and one block has the amount I want to send to another address? Correct?

Well, I am heavily invested in several POS coins, and they are all like this. Perhaps you were just unaware of it, or others have implemented mechanisms that change this behind the scenes. (Sync does this, so I know it's possible). However, the ones I have the most experience with, TEK, HYP, FIRE and HBN, all have this same mechanism and all handle it similarly, with a custom change address available.

I normally let it split into multiple addresses and recombine as I see fit from time to time, but I can see where from the point of view of not making regular backups that could be a problem. On the other hand you can schedule a task to back up wallet.dat quite easily in all major OS's out there. I confess with pride that I'm a geek, so I fail to see the problem in this.

The whole reason to use a new key for change address is to hide who the actual recipient is and who you are.

Some coins have changed keypoolrefill to allow you to add as many reserve keys has you want. If you are running S4C this is the best method.

run rpc command keypoolrefill 500 or even higher like 1000+. (Can take a bit of time)
Then take backup. You will be safe for a good while.

Tranz,

Can you please reupload a downloadable blockchain ? The link is broken.

Regards,

Flam.

Sure I will here in a bit. Thanks for letting me know.

moved on to make the code more compatible by switching to int64_t.  Got that working and decided to go a few steps further and remove all the PRI64d stuff.

Oh jeez this is a lot more time consuming then you are letting everyone know! I have done this before and it sucks!

Ya it can be a pain.  I am just about 1/2 back to the point I was, but this time commits and saves have been taken.

It was some work but here it is. The development of the money supply of 2014 for HBN, CAP, TEK and HYP, all of them HighPOS coins.

...

So quite amazing to see this all happening.
I'll update these figures on a monthly bases and let me know what you think!

Great analysis. Thanks for taking the time to figure this out, it is very interesting. Much in line with what I was expecting, but I never put any hard numbers on it.
673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps 2.1 UPDATE REQUIRED - HARDFORK JULY 4 2014 to 200% Annual PoS on: October 12, 2014, 03:51:57 AM
Thanks Tranz, for your help, but I really don't seem to find it. It's the total coin-supply that I am looking for. In the abe-explorer for it's called 'outstanding',

Block   Approx. Time   Transactions   Value Out   Difficulty   Outstanding
1295353   2014-10-11 18:08:19   2   38.605803   0.005    6642738.525239
1295352   2014-10-11 18:07:30   2   33.957657   0.005    6642733.079788

By checking what that value is on every first block of the past months, i can reconstruct how it evolves.

Ahh ok. Sorry I didn't understand. Let me see..

I'll update the internal block explorer to give you the money supply on the block you select. Give me a few hours to day or so..

No hurry, thanks!

This should do it,
https://github.com/Tranz5/bottlecaps/commit/24130f8a518652b3785e3b8a17dd941925234e5a

I'll compile a release version here later.

Give this one a shot.

Let us know how your analysis goes once it is done.

Probably should have written more on it.

Check Mark on Minimize to system tray
No Check Mark on Minimize on close

So when its maximized and I click the X to close, it minimizes to the system tray, even tho "Minimize on close" is not checked.
When I remove the checkmark in "Minimize to system tray" and i click the X, it closes out the Bottlecaps QT client.  So it seems like when "minimize to system tray" is checked that its actually enabling both options.

Ahh ok, I follow you now. I'll look at it as time permits. Thanks for the bug report.

This is working as designed. If you only have the Minimize on close checked, it will still allow you to minimize to the task bar using the minimize button. If you use the close button it goes to the tray.

But as you noted just the "Minimize to system tray" basically enables both.

It both makes sense and could be adjusted.

The code to do this is simple.

Code:
void BitcoinGUI::closeEvent(QCloseEvent *event)
{
    if(clientModel)
    {
#ifndef Q_OS_MAC // Ignored on Mac
        if(!clientModel->getOptionsModel()->getMinimizeToTray() &&
           !clientModel->getOptionsModel()->getMinimizeOnClose())
        {
            qApp->quit();
        }
#endif
    }
    QMainWindow::closeEvent(event);
}

All that would need to be done is to remove the getMinimizeToTray from that if statement, and only the one check box will allow the X to minimize.

FYI BTC at current version has not changed this at all.

HBN and CAP both use the CCE for block explorers.

http://cap.cryptocoinexplorer.com/

[/quote]

I've checked it out but I don't know where I can find the the supply for a given block. It states only:
 Height   Age   Transactions   Total Sent   Difficulty   Size
Or am I looking with my nose?
[/quote]

Click on blockrange, and then click on the block you want to look at. It has both the inputs and stake reward.
You may also be able to use the block browser in the gui to help with your analysis. It takes the transaction ID and will give you inputs/outputs, rewards, net stake wight, difficulty, ect..

With this information I can calculate the inflation rate due to expanding supply. I did this already for HBN which revealed some interesting info.

Can You share with us your thoughts? Smiley

Sure,

To start, I am into HighPOS-coins because I think its the smartest way of 'mining' coins. You reading this probably means you kind off figured this out too. But highPOS comes with a potential problem as well: High inflation because coins are multipling themselves, 1 becomes 2 and then 4, 8, 16, 32 etc. Before you know it, the coin supply gets bigger exponentially, which will eventually force their value down in the same pace.

Some months ago, I went digging in the HBN blockchain to see how the monthly inflation rate due to POS-staking was developing in reality. It became clear that in case of HBN it's not spiralling out of control. Not at all, it's actually getting lower every month. HBN seems to be designed in a way that prevents exponential inflation. I have some idea's why but for now, that not the point.

I was wondering whether the other HighPOS coins behaved the same way as HBN or not. CAP is twice the POS rate but compared to HBN similar in design. I am really interested to find out all about CAP-inflation. How high is it? And how does it evolve?

So I am planning on investigating HBN, CAP, TEK and HYP in this respect. I managed to find useable blockexplorers for all of them except CAP. That's why I was asking for some help.

When I am done, I'll share my findings, I am curious to know what you High-POS-guys think of it!

I have noticed that when i send some coins and my wallet is locked sometimes after sending my wallet stays open and I have to manually lock it again. Does anyone else encounters this behavior too? I use 1.4.8.0. It's not a big deal of course but I though it would be good to report it.

It should re-lock, but I will take a look and make sure that is working correctly. Thanks!
