681  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: bitcoin wallet on: November 04, 2023, 10:23:51 PM
im newbie, i wants to create a bitcoin wallet but i dont know how to do it.

Let me quote one of my posts about installing electrum and sending/receiving funds in it.

It is not really rocket science, possible for anyone to understand who has the ability to read, and understand what is the meaning of deposit/ receive and send.

Let's say you are downloading Electrum as your Bitcoin wallet, you can find the Download link on their official website.

https://electrum.org/#download

Once you downloaded the wallet.
Setting up your wallet:

1. Launch Electrum then You'll be prompted to create a new wallet or restore an existing one.
2. Choose "Create a new wallet" and click "Next."
3. Select "standard wallet option" and click "Next".
4. Choose you want to create a new seed then Electrum will generate a seed for you.
5. write down this seed and keep it in a safe place. This seed is essential for wallet recovery.
6. Confirm the seed by entering it in the next window.
7. Set a strong password for your wallet and click Next.

Now you completely set up your wallet.

Receiving Bitcoin:

Click on the "Receive" tab to generate a receiving address. You can generate multiple addresses if needed.

Sending Bitcoin:

1. Click on the "Send" tab.
2. Enter the recipient's Bitcoin address, the amount you want to send.
3. Choose the right fee as suggested by Electrum, you can also use https://mempool.space/ to find the actual fee and click "Send."

If you still need any tutorials then you can use Helpful Guides For Newbie on the Electrum Wallet posted by Ratimov.

Electrum is only available for Android so if you are an IOS user check out https://bluewallet.io/

Installation and all other procedures are more or less the same for most wallets so anyone with basic knowledge about operating mobile can find how to do it.

682  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how to start betting on sports? on: November 04, 2023, 05:44:24 PM

I want to know how can i start betting on sports and start making good profits, I am asking this type of question because i have no knowledge about any sports or players.

EDIT: I know a little about cricket and football.
Sport betting also highly depends on your luck factor and if your intention of start sport betting is to make returns then be ready to face loss as well. IMO, avoid betting at all cause its more conservative so you won't lose anything which is better than risking your money and make more.

In sport betting the winnings are based on odds, if the winning is predictable you get close to nothing so the rewards will be higher only if you win while betting on a team that has been an underdog.

A lot of casinos do something when there is a big event like Christmas but I would like to see the difference in amount of wager between December and the other months. I think in July/August when a lot of people take their summer holiday, the activity will be a lot less.
Wagers will obviously be a lot higher in December when compared to other months primarily thanks to Christmas and New Year which are celebrated in many countries across the world.

Also, summer holiday period differs based on country which is why your assumption about activity being less during that period could be wrong.

I tend to be more active also in December just to profit if there are some good and interesting promotion and contests. Used to be active on gaming sites and during July/August, the activity was a lot less but maybe it is different for gambling. But casinos also don’t really do promotions in that period also.
AFAIK, there will always be some kind of promotions going on in most of the casinos and probably something especially during the festive seasons but I didn't give much attention to the promos or contests cause they need more luck than winning the bet and in most of the promos it actually needs wagering too so from my perspective just consider it as an extra bonus if it falls or doesn't concentrate too much on it.
684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Uncomfirmed Transaction on: November 04, 2023, 08:30:55 AM
What do you mean by cancelling the transaction?

I am curious about how you cancelled a transaction because you can’t cancel a bitcoin transaction

I guess OP is using Electrum where they have such a feature called cancel TX, which you can find it in the middle of the image below (ignore the arrow towards bump fee)

But the feature is nothing but double spending the TX to their own addresses using a higher fee than the previous fee used.

@OP, please post your TXid or let us know how much fee you have used while doing RBF.
685  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum not showing any transactions on: November 04, 2023, 07:16:23 AM
Possibly, you imported the wrong private keys which could be one of the reasons.

Or it could be compressed/uncompressed private key.

Refer : [SOLVED] Electrum importing wrong btc address for my private key and let us know it solves the problem.

snip~
Even if the winner does not donate anything, it is his personal wish and no one should criticise on it.
Exactly, the winner is not obliged to pay anything at all and whoever thinks that the money came free why not asking governments to donate all the money that whoever is in need because literally money is created out of thin air and they have a reason why system doesn't work like that.

In US even the tipping culture is getting out of control and sooner or later we might see changes in it as well and I am from the region where you will be thanked no matter whether you tip or not also in a country like Japan tipping is considered as disrespectful act.
687  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Recommendation for multi-crypto software wallets that support BIP-39 passphrase on: November 03, 2023, 04:24:23 PM
Thanks, for the suggestions, but unfortunately both Unstoppable Wallet and Mycelium are mobile apps and I wasn't able to find any indication that crypto.com desktop app supports BIP-39 passphrase, just tried installing it and it only accepts the seed phrase when recovering wallets.
So you already have a passphrase-protected wallet that you created elsewhere, and now you want to recover it, am I right?

No, you got it inverse. He wanted a multi-crypto wallet that supports BIP-39 and also the passphrase feature while creating a new wallet however, it appears that Crypto.com's wallet solution offers the passphrase feature exclusively for wallet recovery purposes, rather than during the initial wallet creation process.

As elucidated in detail on the image the story of a gambler in my country who won a whopping amount of N15.6M  that's about $16,000 and out of his generosity gifted one of the punters a sum of N100k an act which IMO could be referred to as an appreciation for doing nothing.

A donation, charity, and other such works are based on the interest of every individual so one who criticises that the gambler donated a small amount has the guys to donate the same amount and prove they are better in their heart?

They won't so just don't hear those non-sense at all and paying attention to such critiques will encourage them to do more of such stupid arguments.

I am also one of the person that this winner gave very little money to the guy.I would have given much more and I am not just bullshiting here,I am saying the truth as if I win a million dollar and the idea is given to me by someone else and this win is in great part thanks to him,I would give him as a bare minimum 50.000-100.000 dollars which is 5-10% which is what should be the ideal amount to be given to such persons.I know any amount is an appreciation but very little amounts are no appreciation at all in my idea.

5 to 10% is the ideal amount? who the hell said that?

Winnings belongs to me and also I have to pay taxes to a government which is actually for the development of the country so legally I am paying what I am required then why I need to take the social pressure which is really none of anyone's business and as I said why you are waiting for win 1 Millions to donate 5-10%, why not pay from your pocket just now itself!

690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Doubts on Tails & Electrum Setup on: November 03, 2023, 06:42:18 AM
Some people say they faced problems trying to recover the coins from a really old electrum wallet... why is that? what do I have to do for not having this problem in 10 years from now?

I doubt that you read it properly, it's mostly Bitcoin Core, not Electrum where people get issues when they try to recover BTC from very old wallet files, and its mostly due to the incompatability of their files or they messed up with their back up or missing part of it, or wrong seeds or even bought wallet.dat file from someone with the hope of getting BTC from it.

The electrum wallet file is not actually wallet.dat file which can that we seen from qt is also another cause of the confusion with most of'em.

691  Other / Meta / Re: Is it just me? Bitcointalk slow!!! on: November 02, 2023, 06:54:54 PM
so probably OP is having issues with the internet connection.
He said that other sites and apps are working normally and the only issue he has is with bitcointalk.

Yes, it could be the same error you are experiencing, with normal internet but still experiencing strange errors.
It needs to be traced one by one to find out the cause.

It is kind of weird and can't be able to troubleshoot what caused it since it's resolved on its own in a few minutes but as we discussed it's probably due to the local issue and for the record my internet speed was just normal and every other site works perfectly normally. Also checked the network speed which is more than enough to stream 4K video with no issue at all.

But as I said it happened once and lasted very short so didn't know the exact reason.
692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you use multiple platforms for betting? on: November 02, 2023, 05:16:12 PM
The strategy of funding accounts on multiple bookmakers is known to be used by people that want to catch the best odds when betting on sports for example. Sometimes people will monitor multiple platforms and bet when the odds allow then for a safe win. However, I am not sure if this strategy would be worth attempting when doing crypto-based betting on the sports books that offer it.
If I am not wrong sportsbooks don't allow multiple bets on the same games via different platforms and I think even I read something regarding in one of the casinos so anyone who is thorough about ToS can make me clear about whether is it allowed or not?

The strategy is called middling and its not allowed by most of the sportbookies.
693  Other / Meta / Re: Is it just me? Bitcointalk slow!!! on: November 02, 2023, 05:01:53 PM
so your location might be the issue.
AFAIK, there is no relation to the location and slow loading of bitcointalk and if the government banned it then ISP won't even let the site to load it so probably OP is having issues with the internet connection.

Even I experienced a weird error in the recent past link to the post and after the discussion I found I am the only one who experienced it. Probably the same can be the reason for OP's issue as well so go through the discussions there and see if OP can relate to it.
694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: mempool on: November 02, 2023, 02:48:13 PM
with my little knowledge, I'm new too but i believe what you are saying is  your transaction haven't been confirmed ,
Read OP again, he said Explorer is showing 165 confirmations which means the TX confirmed a long time ago and the number will increase forever so if that is what OP meant as not confirmed then he needs to understand the concept of confirmation.

If the balance doesn't show up even after the confirmed TX then the exchange might have an issue and can be resolved if the support analyses what is wrong there.

696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this how it start? (No or yes?) on: November 01, 2023, 09:22:31 PM
so am I becoming an addict? No.
It doesn't necessarily mean an addiction but the temptation to win back your lost money which is very common in the gene of the human system and also it could possibly lead to addiction if you don't put yourself a brake like what you did after the second deposit and realized that you did something that you aren't supposed.
697  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Understand how electrum wallets work on: November 01, 2023, 07:44:07 PM
I looked at this link to understand: https://oxt.me/transaction/596802d0b3f99149b6c7b4250ce52894938d252aa3ad4fdbf125336bb0c80553

Looks like Electrum consolidated my UTXO and created one UTXO and sent that UTXO to a change address. There is manual way to do this is in electrum which I need to learn or else electrum does that for you due to privacy concerns.

Also the privacy address is part of the same public key.

Electrum is just a wallet and it won't able to perform any actions without someone accessing it manually or via scripts. You consolidate your inputs or its just happened on its own?

If you mean the funds from xUTXO and Y UTXO were combined while sending an amount that exceeds both x and y individually then electrum will look for the UTXO to be combined as default which can be x+y => desitnation + change address and send the excess funds to a change address which you can see in the address tab as well. It means you should see the balance if your wallet is online.

If you don't see your balance and the wallet is online it sums it up, your wallet has been compromised.
698  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Recommendation for multi-crypto software wallets that support BIP-39 passphrase on: November 01, 2023, 06:06:07 PM

Looks like AirGap would fit your requirements. It is open source,  multi-crypto, BIP39 compliant wallet and  has a Linux flavor .

I personally didn't use it but have come across many   good opinions about this wallet.

One of the opt with AirGap is a setup of  the cold storage on desktop

Here you can find a dedicated thread.
Interesting, this is the first time I have seen this name and after some research, it fulfills all the requirements of OP but the Airgap doesn't seem to be an actual wallet cause they mentioned it watch only a wallet for their product Airgap Vault.

Also, they focused on creating wallets for Android and IOS, I tried to click Windows and other platform download files but it only redirected me to the APK file nothing else that could find download links of .exe.
699  Economy / Economics / Re: Is energy prices about to shoot up? on: November 01, 2023, 03:06:49 PM
The longevity of the tension in the Gaza Strip region may be reflected in the prices in the Western region but for the sake of comparison this event with Russia and Ukraine affected most of the economies, here the one side Gaza and its supporters are relatively weak and Israel has the upper hand so this can be bring to an end in one or other way whereas in Russia and Ukraine both were supported by other big nations so such kind of approach wasn't possible which dragged the war for longer period of times.

The Middle East has over 43% of the world's oil reserve, so I don't know the trick the world would play if such a region is at war to the extent that oil pumping stops partially or totally. OPEC and others won't be able to manipulate this time as many of the members state can't have the capacity to quantify for the expected shortfall.

Oil resources are non-renewable even if nothing happens it is gonna dries out at some point and that is why governments are focusing on creating energy with other renewable sources but it's a long-term transition that may take a decade or two until there won't be any situation hopefully.

I didn't know you guys really wanted to get into the tehnical aspect of it, but here you go. We utilize a specialized tool that continuously monitors for any unusual activities in our games. This tool is powered by extensive data from our trusted software providers, ensuring its accuracy, and it's used by hundreds of online casinos. If any fraudulent behavior is detected, we're promptly alerted. We then collaborate with the specific software provider to conduct a detailed review of the incident. Every action in the game is examined to ensure integrity. It's our commitment to maintain a fair and secure gaming environment.
I didn't really want to get involved in the technical side and I appreciate any effort made combating illicit and money launderers in every platform but I don't get how you can notice the pattern if you don't really have the information of the player which other casinos announced as mandatory for supporting AML.

So the extensive tool will trigger if the player bet huge amount or something like that but I just want you to know that not everyone who launders money will take the high way, they can breakdown into multiple accounts and bet small wagering with safe odds and then withdrew them.
