You just need to buy coins at a low price and wait a while. Here after a couple of months you can get a small profit from purchased coins at a low price. my hypothesis about questions like this (which have been asked a million times) is that those who ask it and those who think they are no different have never done any trading in their lives the proper way. because obviously if you go learn trading and look deeper into it and start doing it properly, then you would never ask these questions.

For me, I bought games off steam with my money won. It was much more convenient since I was able to use bitcoins instead of converting my bitcoins to usd to buy games from steam, which is nice since they are accepting bitcoins already as payment for their games.

I believe delisting some of trading pairs from exchanges a general practice and almost every exchanges are already doing it. Why this poloniex's move alone getting this much attention ? I do see some cryptocurrency news magazines also covering this as a big issue.
There are a lot of reasons why an altcoin is getting delisted from exchanges. The most obvious one is low to zero trading volume. There will be no meaning of keeping some shitcoins whose dev are not active enough for solving issues.
