1381  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Work On The Outernet? on: July 03, 2016, 05:00:22 AM
How would this be better for bitcoin? A one way signal will mean that some central entity will have to be at the top of the chain, if I'm looking at this the right way.
1382  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is there any point in running more then 1 FULL Node on the same network on: July 03, 2016, 04:58:35 AM
If you're at the end of "the node chain" (The order in which a TX is relayed, from fastest connections to shortest), there's no point. You'll just be putting strain on the nodes above you.

But if you're at the start of the chain, having more nodes means that more people will use you, and that's always good. If you're a good person.
1383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the next most demanding cryptocurrency and blockchain feature? on: July 03, 2016, 04:53:43 AM
Variable block size! How about 1 MB block + 35%-50% of the mempool? This will provide more space for transactions, and if the mempool is large, a block could allow more transactions! But this retains the problem of the miner's greed, they wouldn't want this update afaik.
1384  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why is blocks not 'filled up'? on: July 03, 2016, 04:52:52 AM
The transaction fee are relatively small to the reward the miners get for solving a block, so the miners just don't bother about the transactions. It is all caused by greed.

Not even close. A miner can choose to base the block they mine on certain transactions from a certain node, some nodes (maybe even the miner's) will purposely reject transactions. It's not logical, it's the choice of the miner.

I accept that a miner can determine what is in the block.
But if the miner chooses their transactions and the block is not full, then any remaining space gets filled in with existing waiting transactions, even in descending fee order would be acceptable.
Granted the miners would need to be enticed, or forced, to run that code but, I would think this does not violate too many BTC ground rules and might actually be better in the long run.

Now this is just an idea and I admit my limited knowledge of the bitcoin network is just enough to be dangerous.
I hope and I am not be too naive and I look forward to some reality.

Sometimes the mempool is empty besides the 0 sat/byte transactions, or sometimes the sat/byte is so low that the fee the miners get is negligible.
1385  Other / Meta / Green and Dark Green trust? on: July 03, 2016, 04:45:54 AM
I've noticed accounts being sold being advertised as having "green trust". I used to think this meant that the account is on DT, but evidently it's just if the user's trust score is above 10 or 20 respectively.

Does having light/dark green trust make any difference to your ability to leave reps?
1386  Other / Meta / Re: How does negative feedback work? on: July 03, 2016, 04:43:46 AM
I understand positive feedback & its effect on a profile but How does negative feedback work?

The same. Smiley

The last few trusted feedbacks (as per the trust network of the viewer) are given more weight than the old ones (which makes it way more useful than otherwise).

Neutral feedbacks have zero effect.

Are you saying that after time, your trust score will go down, as the reps you received are becoming more and more outdated?
is it possible to turn trust and associated comments off?
If you don't want to see anyone's trust ratings (other than your own) outside of 'Untrusted Feedback' then you can add the line ~DefaultTrust to your trust list.
Be warned that this will (obviously) remove all trust ratings, meaning you may end up dealing with known scammers if you don't check well prior.

Let me just add that this ruins the point of the trust system. A better way would be to type in -*insert name here* in the box to make sure their reps make no effect on the trust you see.

Take your time to spit on every single one of our 350 participants. But then realise that only 40-50%  Grin of us are spammers. Take a look at YoShit, new spammers joining every day, increasing the already high spam percentage. From memory I can only list one YoBit participant with good posts.
1388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People hate Bitcoins? on: July 03, 2016, 04:30:35 AM
most people don't even know what bitcoin actually is about. the only thing they know is the negative aspects and the silk road bullshit. even though, they are dumb enough to recognize its potential

Human nature is to be afraid of the unknown. Let's say if I gave you a box and told you to stick your hand in without looking, you would think I put a spider or a dirty sock in there. People just have to be educated.
1389  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] 3+Year old lvl 60+Steam Account no VAC or trade bans. 8,000+ hours played on: July 02, 2016, 10:35:15 PM
You want to add me?  I'll PM you the steam custom url I see your account and am fine with it.

P.S.

This account wasn't my competitive for dota or csgo.  I can easily calibrate dota 2 international ranked to 4.5k+ but you need 40 games before the end of ti6 for it to hold.

CS:GO my ranking isn't nearly as high and dont feel comfortable even offering to boost.

P.P.S.

If people are looking for max calibration - 6k accounts I can supply at least 10 easily.  It wouldn't have any other games it would just be smurfs.

I'm interested in this account. Please pm me the account link and your price. To be honest, accounts never go for more than $25. I've seen a totally clean lvl 100 account go for $5.
1390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / "Bitcoin Divided" Podcast, Planet Money. on: July 02, 2016, 10:01:30 PM
Dunno if this belongs in a different board.

Any regular listener here of NPR's planet money podcast would have heard one of their most recent episodes, about bitcoin. They usually have great stories to tell, bit this one I take as an insult to bitcoin.

They are discussing the blocksize debate. In their episode, they execute a bitcoin transaction. But for some reason, this transaction does not go through. The network forgets it. This gives the impression that the bitcoin network is broken. I've never once had my transaction forgotten. I blame this anomaly on the user's. They most probably use little to no fees. But no, they have to go on and idolise XT and Classic, saying "It's bitcoin with a larger block capacity". Not true.

Any opinions?
1391  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why are you investing in Bitcoin? on: July 02, 2016, 09:50:25 PM
Because I believe that decentralization is the future. With a single or small group entity ruling over everyone, the people can be taken advantage of, or problems overlooked. With decentralization, you have the wisdom of the masses.
1392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Final countdown [10 Days before the halving] on: July 02, 2016, 09:47:37 PM
Less than a week till the halving! I'm gonna buy something with my bitcoin hopefully through the last 25 btc block. Maybe a ledger nano s ^_^
1393  Economy / Digital goods / Re: TraderCal11's Gift Card Shop - Save Money With 100% Legit, Physical Gift Cards! on: June 28, 2016, 10:23:56 AM
Any sales yet? I'm interested in a $50 steam gift card, just need to see either a vouch or a review first. I know you have some trust and all, but any card can be refunded.

I'd be happy to take a vouch copy if it's allowed. I don't have as much trust as you, but I will vouch nonetheless.

1395  Economy / Auctions / Re: BTC domains <- low start < $1! > on: June 27, 2016, 11:47:23 AM
The whois says that the domain is supposed to expire in 2015...

I'll still bid $1 for the domain, please confirm. One way or another you really should list expiry dates.

Sorry about that, here it is - explained better then me:

I bid $1 for btc.red. When were these domains registered, may I ask? Start of this year? A few weeks ago? This is one crucial piece of info you really need when selling domains.

https://www.instra.com/en/whois/whois-result/btc_red

3$

Btw, he bid $3, so he is winning for now.

Cheers!
Ah, didn't see that. From this, it's pretty evident that the domain will expire very very soon. What's the renewal price for the domain? I don't want to have to pay like $40 straight after I buy a domain.

1398  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Total BTC lost at Hashocean.com ponzi? on: June 26, 2016, 08:39:24 PM
Who called it? I DID!!!!

Just a rough guesstimate, I'd say somewhere from 100-500 btc was lost in this mess. Cloud mining is unprofitable. Anything that isn't is a scam.

1400  Economy / Digital goods / Re: WTS Potential Member 112 activity PRICE: 0.005BTC on: June 26, 2016, 09:45:16 AM
Maybe a noob question but what is potential activity?

I think its a future activity which is added virtually to your account if you are inactive for a while. Correct me if I am wrong.
You would be incorrect. You only gain potential activity if you made at least 1 post on the accountduring an activity period. If youre inactive for a month or longer you gain nothing

Pretty much this. Put in simpler terms -

Every fortnight that you post at least once, you claim 14 "potential activity". If you have more posts than activity, then 14 (or up to an amount that adds up to your activity) will be added to your activity each week.

I can vouch for OP, he sent first, I asked if he had an account with a shorter name, and he provided within 5 minutes! Thanks!
