682  Economy / Securities / Re: [Investment fund] Gamma Bitcoin Fund [Closing] on: March 05, 2013, 03:55:25 AM
If you put them all up at 0.7, will they get 100% of any future dividends while they are waiting to be sold? And these dividends will, of course come back to GBF.

If that's the case, then I think it's a good idea to put them up for sale. I think it could be a while until they sell at that price.

But can you explain more clearly the "Supplemental dividend plan". What you have written on the Bitfunder profile isn't very clear.

What concerns me is that it seems like you will be getting an ASICMINER board seat and hence an ASIC mining unit, if I understand correctly, through selling off our GBF shares. Or am I wrong? Will this benefit GBF, or just you, or just holders of the G.ASICMINER-PT shares?

If you were to distribute our shares amongst GBF shareholders as G.ASICMINER-PT shares, wouldn't we then get any future ASICMINER dividends, plus the "Supplemental dividend", plus of course any profit if we wished to sell our own shares.

Wouldn't this be a much better deal for GBF shareholders?

+1 agreed.
683  Economy / Securities / Re: [Investment fund] Gamma Bitcoin Fund [Closing] on: March 04, 2013, 05:31:26 PM
How about transferring them to your G.ASICMINER-PT, then proportionally distributing them so everyone can decide for themselves what to do with them.
Voila!
The problem is this only works in a perfect world, it will be to much fractions to this to end up being fair.
Hence I am not sure how to distribute them perfectly so that people feel they are being treated fair.

Great idea strello!   Cool

I for one am not at all bothered about the fraction of a share.

Just round our portions down to the nearest whole number and settle the rest in BTC later.  What's so hard about that?

My main concern is that GBF owns 4,607 ASICMINER shares purchased for BTC0.1 and which now sell for around BTC0.7 on the Bitfunder pass-through.

Let's use G.ASICMINER-PT to free up some of the assets which have been stuck in GBF for a very long time.

Agreed! This is a great idea, I think we would all love to be in full control of our proportion of ASICMINER shares.
684  Bitcoin / Project Development / Accepting Bitcoin in Wordpress? on: March 04, 2013, 03:59:14 AM
What is the best way to accept Bitcoin inside a Wordpress eCommerce site (e.g. one using WooCommerce)? Ideally it should integrate with something like Coinbase or BitPay. Speaking of that, what are the dominant payment processors out there besides Coinbase & BitPay?
685  Economy / Securities / Re: [Investment fund] Gamma Bitcoin Fund [Closing] on: March 03, 2013, 04:48:01 AM
Suppose 100% does get paid...then we will continue to get paid 101%+?  Or will will sell your ASICMINER shares?

Investors only get paid 100% and the fund manager gets to keep the shares?

IOW, we took the risk, and DT takes the reward?

No effing way!  That really wouldn't be fair to us long suffering GBF investors.

I'm sure there's a better solution, such as in kind dividends:

Who else votes to proportionally distribute the ASICMINER, etc. shares once 100% payout is complete?

When payout is 100% complete yes, I think we should distribute the shares proportionally. I had tried to sell out of the fund early but wasn't able to due to the GLBSE run - my plan was actually to buy more ASICMINER! So it would be nice for us to get our proportion of the shares once we are made whole again.

Thanks everyone!

Enjoy your vacation.  Let us know how much BTC you got from ASICMINER when you get the chance.

My question exactly Smiley He has 4600+ for Gamma Fund I think, so that should be 108+ BTC.
I am currently on a open free Wifi and I am not on my normal desktop.
So I can't check the wallet at this moment Tongue
I will update you guys once I get back on Sunday, but it should be 100 BTC+ Smiley
I think that with ASICMINER going so well it's possible that over time we might be able to payback 100% of the balances.

Have fun and watch out for Silvio!

I pulled in the payments into a spreadsheet and did some sorting...

There are 11 shareholders who have >=5000 shares and are on the board. 21 additional have >=1000 shares.

There are 243 additional shareholders w/ <=999 shares.

The highest payout was 0.00015286.
689  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 GH] BTC Guild - PPS/PPLNS with TxFees, Stratum+Vardiff ASIC Tested on: February 28, 2013, 05:54:39 AM
Performance Charts now live.  All 3 charts (24h/72h/2wk) are now on one convenient page.

Beautiful stuff! Any plans to upgrade to version 2 of the blocks to be compatible with BIP 0034?

All our Stratum servers produce Version 2 blocks.  Only getwork is still on v1 (and will always be v1 until they shut down at this point).  ~2/3 of our blocks are produced on Stratum now.  You may have noticed the new site emphasizes stratum over getwork as well.  I won't turn off getwork while there is still demand, but the guides on how to use BTC Guild both use native stratum miners, and give the host as a stratum server in the write-up/screenshots.

Cool! Thanks for the quick reply Smiley Just curious about the network's transition to block version 2 but I guess it will still take awhile.
690  Economy / Economics / Re: inflation-corrected value of a bitcoin on: February 28, 2013, 05:42:54 AM
Since monetary inflation of bitcoins is still significant (compared to the USD, for example), I thought it'd be useful to look at the inflation-corrected exchange rates. Ideally, I should have included the USD inflation, but I am too tired, and it wouldn't change things much anyway.

I sourced the data from bitcoincharts.com, and corrected each daily VWAP for the number of coins generated up to that date, relative to the number of coins generated up to a fixed, arbitrarily chosen, reference date. Number of coins (monetary base) is projected, not actual, but the two are close enough.

There are two reference dates used in these graphs: April 1 2011 (before the first bubble, and when Gox trade volume just started becoming significant), and January 1 2012 (after the first bubble, during the slow recovery).

The same data in log scale, in case you appreciate it as much as I do:

Bitcoin economy (be it based in speculation, savings, trading, gambling, playing - whatever) has obviously been growing stubbornly. If it were not for monetary inflation since January 2012, one bitcoin would be trading today at about USD 42.

It would be interesting to expand this simple analysis by taking into account old coins that never moved after being generated - lots of these back in 2010 - actual monetary inflation has been even higher if we assume these 2010 frozen coins were actually lost due to low perceived value.

Thanks, very nice work.

And to everyone directly asking friedcat when the platform will be released, he states that very thing in his very last post. The 28th.

You sure about that?  I just re-read his last announcement post (and haven't seen another since) as all it says is to stop trading during the 28th so it doesn't clash with dividend payments.  I see nothing about the trading platform going online then - and seems I'm not the only one who isn't seeing that anywhere.

I believe I read the posts closely and I had the same impression as you. Nothing about the platform, just to cease trading because dividend payments are coming.

I imagine their payment system is going to be automated so it probably forms a part of the upcoming trading platform.

Normally a stock drops by the dividend price on the ex-dividend date. The price of the security drops an amount equal to the dividend because the dividend was factored into the price. It would be interesting to see how this effected the price of ASICMINER.

Looks like we are almost at 5Thash. Good days.

Best to friedcat and all fellow share holders.

friedcat, do we know when the share trading platform will come online? (Of course getting up boards is the priority.) Does anyone know the fair market price? I saw some trade at .38 recently. Thanks!
