721  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are crypto transaction fees so high on: July 18, 2020, 08:46:18 AM
The amount of deductions transferring in wallets starting ranking up a lot. I'm wondering why this is the case? Fiat currencies feel like they have less transaction fees.

This is little to do with official cryptocurrency network fees, though they can certainly get high, this is what the company you're using chooses to charge you.

https://help.coinsquare.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004303171-Digital-Currency-Withdrawal-Minimums-and-Fees

At the moment that's about $4.50 for a Bitcoin withdrawal which is waaay above the proper network fee at the moment and that proper fee has only gotten that high a handful of times. Coinsquare may say it's been bumped up that much to make sure withdrawals go through no matter how congested the network is. I'll bet it's also a handy extra income stream as it hardly ever has gotten that bad.

Either group your withdrawals so you only pay that once every so often or find somewhere else. If I were buying small and often I wouldn't tolerate that high a fee.

722  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to know if gambling sites are legit? on: July 18, 2020, 08:38:06 AM
Apart from the above suggestions, I would recommend to check the profile of bitcoin of gambling site if exist. Trusting review sites are risky most of the times but if they are here for long ago, that's good and you can trust them.

I would never trust any review site related to crypto. They're all junk pieces of clickbait shit. This forum is enough. If a service is used by enough people there'll be a thread on it here. The total lack of mention of it on here is a definite red flag.
723  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to know if gambling sites are legit? on: July 18, 2020, 12:05:28 AM
Gambling sites are one of the more solid areas of the crypto space. There are enough with long track records to be able to choose somewhere legit. Go for somewhere long established and extensively reviewed and you'll be fine. If they were screwing users the users would be extremely vocal about it. There is absolutely no need to select somewhere unknown.

I'd be more interested in whether I got paid should I win a reasonable amount. There seem to be a few cases where people have trouble with that.
724  Economy / Speculation / Re: Old grandmas funds to pump bitcoin? on: July 18, 2020, 12:02:21 AM
I remember a great deal of talk about 'Mrs Watanabe', the stereotypical backbone of Japanese retail investment, riding to Bitcoin's rescue when the Japanese market opened up.

As with every other goddamn thing that was going to 'save' Bitcoin, as soon as she was unleashed fuck all happened.

I think the uptake for this will be somewhere in the region of - nil.
725  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the twitter scam crash the price on: July 16, 2020, 05:53:03 PM
Here's a development that actually might impact the space. Twitter are removing the ability to post crypto addresses - https://www.theblockcrypto.com/post/71876/twitter-crypto-address-posts

No idea how much legit business takes place through there on that basis but there must be a bit, and considerably more than what these moronic scammers net. Maybe you can still DM them.

726  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the twitter scam crash the price on: July 15, 2020, 11:59:02 PM
Of course not. The price hasn't budged throughout either.

I can't believe whoever did this added the same pathetic scam that's been going since 2017 or whatever.

They should've had a fucking massive short on Bitmex and coordinated tweets from all the exchanges about the Secret Service bursting into their offices and drilling their staff with machine gun fire.

The panic wouldn't have lasted long, but it would've been long enough to make millions. Instead they've 100 grand or so, and most of it was probably theirs anyway to look cool.
727  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: July 15, 2020, 08:19:34 PM
Did anyone had any issues with Bitcoins that you sent to exchanges after mixing coins with ChipMixer,
and do you have any suggestions about this and advice for reducing this (excluding not using centralized exchanges Wink)?

I occasionally send my earnings from the Chipmixer campaign direct to Kraken and that has an address with Chip in the name. They've never said a word to me about it yet. I'm not sure others will be as relaxed.
728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warning: crypto related twitter accounts (Binance, Coindesk, TRON, &more) hacked on: July 15, 2020, 08:12:04 PM
It's a pretty darned impressive haul. It's a big list of notable crypto Twitter accounts including all the major exchanges, Charlie Lee, Coindesk and even @bitcoin.

I wonder what hole all of them left open.
729  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Golden cross VS death cross on: July 15, 2020, 06:27:36 PM
I see these phrases rolled out with great reverence and ceremony.

Then absolutely sod all happens yet again.

I am profoundly uninterested in hearing it now. But if it gets people through the day I give them my full support.
730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Worried my Trezor, could have been tampered with. (Reset can help?) on: July 15, 2020, 03:55:40 PM
If it was from an authorised seller and arrived sealed then that's about as promising as it gets.

If you don't have any money tied up on it then doing a new seed is no hassle and should put your mind at rest.

I've never heard of sold hardware arriving tampered with yet, plenty of those pre printed seeds though. All of the hardware hacks require physical access to the device with the seed already created.
731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto cards for USDT/Tether on: July 15, 2020, 02:23:31 PM
I read all the posts and thought. Way of storing their assets in different crypto wallets and in small quantities suitable for me better. But if I need money, I can use a Bank debit card. I never thought about using a debit card crypto. I think to wait until better times. But still I was curious and will explore this topic more thoroughly.

For some people it makes sense. For others it doesn't. A lot depends on where you are.

For a long time in the UK there were no exchanges other than P2P and banks were, and often still are, extremely twitchy about any funds related to BTC. In those circumstances a crypto debit card is perfect.

If you live in a place with good exchanges with low fees and fast banking then a crypto debit card will be a needless extra expense. Some may still prefer to keep those funds separate though.
732  Other / Meta / Re: Am I the oldest member here? on: July 15, 2020, 02:03:47 PM
Maybe, if in terms of registered accounts, there are older than you.
My account is a lot older than many people here  Cheesy But I'm still young  Grin I'm sure there are many other people who also have large account age in this forum, it is not really important to mention. But for everyone's real age, I think there is hardly anyone older than OP. I suddenly remembered someone, it's gentlemand
I don't knows his current age, but I think he could be an OP competitor  Cheesy

May I ask why you have come to that conclusion?

I constantly refer on here to my skaterboi pals and twerking on Tip Tap or whatever the fuck it's called. I have also 'cancelled' my own grandmother for being rude to her coolie.
733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is CoinJoining/Mixing/Whirlpooling worth it in the end? on: July 15, 2020, 12:09:47 PM
There are risks when you don't mix them as well.

But they are fully known to you. The risk with mixing is that attitudes, techniques and surveillance will change over time. If staying put and doing nothing is a minimal or manageable risk then the path of least resistance makes most sense.
734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto cards for USDT/Tether on: July 15, 2020, 11:57:20 AM
All the cards convert to fiat so they fix the exchange rate between crypto and real fiat anyway.

Some like Wirex give you the choice of when you convert so you can instantly turn it all into a fiat balance and spend later, others like Coinbase only convert at the moment you spend.

If your business accepts USDT then for starters no card issuer will let you continue if they find out you're cashing out business profits, and there are all the issues of USDT itself.
735  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 14, 2020, 07:31:15 PM
Well i didn't say shoot him, if he knew about coinbase and still used them, then it should be an automatic death sentence. As far as 5 wires, would make sense to limit 3rd party exposure, but looks like he kept the coins on coinbase so yeah, jail him

I would lend my support to driving a steam roller with spiky wheels 119 times over his face.

Hard, honestly you could really do with seeking out a more productive hobby. This one will not nourish your soul or do anything to change the world for the better.
737  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would you buy/use Bitcoin if you knew its price would not reach a new ATH? on: July 14, 2020, 12:24:34 AM
Those who have the luxury to hodl btc will not engage in spending it for unnecessary things because of the thought that it will increase later on. On my part, I also spend btc when it is only necessary. But it doesn't stop me to convert my btc to fiat if the situation calls for it. I think I still have the mindset also of holding my btc as much as I can for the hope that it will increase its value later on. And I guess most of us have that kind of perception.

If the possibility of future price increases is gone you're left with a cruel mistress with a few very useful qualities. That's not really going to be enough to keep most people on board. Traders may still keep playing with it. Most others will bail.
738  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would you buy/use Bitcoin if you knew its price would not reach a new ATH? on: July 13, 2020, 05:01:50 PM
Well, I earn a bit of it at present so I'd continue to spend it while doing that. Once that's over then fuck no pretty much other than the odd thing like VPNs.

The volatility will still be there. If I was a trader then that may excite me. Since I'm not that was just bore me and lose money I was uninterested in losing.

The prospect of future ATHs is what keeps people engaged enough to sit through all the abuse BTC rains down on you. If that's gone then I'd prefer to direct my energy somewhere more productive.
739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is CoinJoining/Mixing/Whirlpooling worth it in the end? on: July 13, 2020, 03:42:06 PM
Unless I had a gaping security hole from leaving my coins unimxed I definitely would not mix them. We've no idea how uptight third party services will get about it in future, how good the tracking tools around at present really are and there may well be much better options to add privacy in future as well.

If there was a deeply pressing need to do it then doing it now rather than later at least looks less fishy a few years down the line.
740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question about rollback of the btc blockchain on: July 13, 2020, 10:16:44 AM
As for CZ, I hope no one ever forgets that proposal. What a clueless dick move.
Meh, it's not wrong of someone to ask. Of course, everyone said no.  Plus, he had gotten bad advice from people who misleading represented themselves as authorities.
Since everyone that is registered to Binance was affected by then, it seems CZ wants to do everything to lessen the impact that they have with it. If you were in his shoes, trying to get it done is a way that he thought that is worth it but of course, it won't happen.

What is bizarre about the whole thing is that he blithely proposed it without either acknowledging or knowing that if it actually happened a large amount of Bitcoin's trust would evaporate. For someone with that much heft to come out with something that childlike reveals more about them than it should have.
