721  Economy / Speculation / Re: "Bitcoin will implode"... on: November 02, 2017, 06:31:14 AM
...says Saudi billionaire investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. He added,

Quote
"It just doesn't make sense. This thing is not regulated, it's not under control, it's not under the supervision [of any central bank]... I just don't believe in this bitcoin thing. I think it's just going to implode one day. I think this is Enron in the making..."

Read more of it here: https://www.c[Suspicious link removed]m/2017/10/23/prince-alwaleed-says-bitcoin-will-implode-enron-in-the-making.html

What do you think guys? Does his opinion have any real or historical basis? Or is his just a misinformed opinion?

(Note: I know that this post should probably be in the child board Press, but most of the stuff going on there are just news postings and not much else. I just want to know your informed and intelligent take on his opinion. Thanks.)

And did not he tried to compare it with oil?

If oil extraction would not be regulated then either the price would fall rapidly (implode) or we would be running out of oilfields soon.
None of these threatens BTC (we know quite accurately when we mine all coins and I'm not affraid of some regulations come true ... that would costs more than brings)

My advice is: BE CAREFUL. There is lot of scammers who will be luring you to "wonderful invetments, with guaranteed profits" or "100% working plans how to make effortless profits" etc.

Double check every single piece of info you receive. And use your brain (you wouldn't believe how many newbies fall into scam craps).

Boards I'm mostly interested in are:
META - to find info about this forum ( rules etc.)
This one and Technical Support - I love to help newcomers ( but also like to learn from other members advice)
Games and rounds - here you can get some free bonuses ( for registration, retweets etc.)
Service Announcements & service discussion - just to be aware of new born services
Off-topic - there is few funny topics, so just to lift the mood
723  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Investing advice on: November 02, 2017, 05:37:49 AM
You can still make it grow. Try trading. Trading is the best way to make you btc grow. But this needs to be studied first in able to make passive income. Don't ever invest at any HYIP sites including cloudmining. Consider them as scams. You can also use it as a capital for lending service. But i think it's too small for capital. Trading is worth a try. Just find a good trading platform and find a good altcoins which has a potential to grow in the future. Altcoins are bleeding right now. It's a good opportunity because they are cheap. After Bitcoin hardfork. The volume is going to altcoins as traders will aim for cheaper altcoins. So buy now while they are cheap.

Heh, I would love to see trader who can say his trading income is "pasive".
This is not how it works. You need to be pretty active, watch recent market movements, do TA's etc. (yes, there is plenty of tools & bots but these needs to be watched as well - once you let them running alone you might be very surprised by the result).

With the rest I agree.
724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTG REDEEM (bitcoin gold) - STEP BY STEP (quick and dirty) on: November 02, 2017, 05:30:00 AM
Thank you for the tutorial, I only have one BTC at the time of the split, this easy way for me.
But keep in mind, transfer all BTC to another BTC address before proceeding to secure your BTC.
You're welcome.
And yes, moving the BTC first is ESSENTIAL. I consider it almost same importancy as paying attention to sweeping into correct wallet (step 5) and making proper wallet backup.

Just a side note: Rather than how many BTC you have is important how many addresses they are scattered over ( In case you have more of them you will need to do this procedure for each address individually).

If you have all (one) BTC in single address I'll recommend you to wait a little .. for other users to test it and post feedback or so. (as you have no option how to try it with smaller amount).
725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BTG REDEEM (bitcoin gold) - STEP BY STEP (quick and dirty) on: November 02, 2017, 04:54:15 AM
Hi, I found this a very hot topic recently so here's my quick and dirty guide how to get your BTG.
I will be using coinomi (android wallet) to get my BTG (but you can also use e.g. freewallet  ... the procedure is more or less same).
NOTE: This guide will not work with segwit addresses (begins with 3).
For other supported wallets check official BTG web https://bitcoingold.org (BEWARE: some malicious wallets found their way also to official BTG web, so doublecheck user feedbacks before trusting them with your money)

UPDATE: BTG SUCCESSFULLY CLAIMED (and partly sold). Thanks coinomi and ledger.

WARNING: BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHICH WALLET YOU ARE GOING TO USE. EVEN THE OFFICIAL BTG WEBSITE PUBLISHED LINKS TO SCAM WALLETS.
I'm not going to investigate every single wallet you ask for. I already have mine BTG (used COINOMI). So please use COINOMI or do investigation on your own.

Part 1 - Wallets you own the private keys ( tested with Electrum 2.9.3 and 3.0.2 )

It's really simple (5 steps)

1 - Separate your BTC. Move them to brand new address ( this is to prevent losing your BTC if something went wrong, also your private key becomes compromised at the end of this guide) and stop using the old one

2 - wait for at least 5 confirmations (3 should be enough but more is better ... again due to security reasons)

3 - download and install coinomi https://coinomi.com/  (make proper backup etc.)

4 - in coinomi add new coin (BTG), find function "sweep" and scan QR code of your private key(s) ... this will create transaction(s) sending BTG from your address to coinomi
!!! PAY ATTENTION TO SWEEP INTO CORRECT WALLET OTHERWISE YOU CAN LOSE THEM ... GOOD IDEA IS TRYING SMALL AMOUNT FIRST AS A TEST !!!

5 - repeat second part of step 4 for every address you have BTG on ...  enjoy your coins  Wink

(doesn't work? refer to: https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000017747-i-can-t-sweep-my-btg-private-key )
(Find more detailed guide here: https://medium.com/@coinomi/collecting-your-free-bitcoin-gold-btg-coins-da937d4255d1 )

Part 2 - Ledger HW wallet

Follow this ultimate guide: https://ledger.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005456969-How-to-use-Bitcoin-Gold-with-Ledger
(successfully claimed as well)

Part 3 - Mycelium users

Refer to Flat.E insights:

Sweep and enter seed from mycelium to coinomi does not work, key format not recognized, however restore wallet from scratch in coinomi works right away with the same seed.

At first I set the derivation path when adding the btg coin in Coinomi to M/44H/0H/0H, no btg showed up. I added a second btg coin part in the same Coinomi but now without altering the derivation path and the coins showed up right away.

follow this step-by-step guide: https://steemit.com/btc/@libert/step-by-step-guide-on-claiming-bitcoincash-from-mycellium-wallet-201783t112141477z

EDIT: If you think the guide too austere then please wait for some others.
I personally found this very easy (mostly due to experience with BCH fork) and do not feel it requires any special pictures, extra details etc. ( once you do it yourself I belive you'll find it simple as well ).

726  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How can i get bitcoin gold on electrum [step by step] on: November 02, 2017, 04:25:14 AM
guys, supposed  that i have 1 bitcoin in wallet A before fork, and after fork i move 1 bitcoin out of wallet A. now wallet A is emply, so can I claim 1 bitcoin gold from wallet A?

You can't claim bitcoin gold at the moment as it hasn't launched yet but Once it goes live probably on November 1st, Yes you can claim your BTG's from wallet A by importing it to a designated bitcoin gold wallet. They are giving updates on their site as well as other necessary information here https://bitcoingold.org/blog/

This is interesting. I have already sold mine BTG on bitfinex ... What the heck did I sold  Grin

Electrum Bitcoin Gold wallet ht tps://www.electrum-gold.org
!!!! DO NOT FALL INTO SCAM ABOVE !!!!

Better wait. Coinomi is coming with update soon ... https://twitter.com/CoinomiWallet/status/925842529219764224
(step by step quides will be after)

To speed things up you can now move your BTC to new address as the old one you need to be sweep into coinomi (thus will be compromised).

EDIT: I made a quick how-to guide here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2347158

728  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Exactly Good To Start For Newbie? on: November 02, 2017, 03:15:51 AM
Hi, all friends...I'm just newbies to bitcoin and after I have study for a while then i found so many different reason about working with bitcoin and other cryptocurrency but I can divided it into these main categories
1. Invest in buying my own hardware for mining bitcoin
2. Invest in buying some contract for cloud mining online
3. Invest in HYIP website
4. Invest in Trading Platform
5. Etc.
Anyone please give me some idea about this that what is actually the better way that beginner should start working on it with bitcoin for making some profit?
Or any others way that I have missing found on this?

To your points:
1. Do proper investigation first (profitability vs expenses, heat&noise management ...)
2. DEFINITELY NOT (99.9% CLOUDMININGS ARE SCAMS - PONZI)
3. DEFINITELY NOT please don't support these crappy schemes (but if you like to just give away your hard earned BTC the go ahead).
4. You can lend BTC using few platforms. Is that what mean? Then yes it's quite good idea.
5. Do you have skills which you can rent? (coding, writing, transaltion...). Ofer them on this forum ( but you have to had some previous experience (portfolio, customer fedback .. etc.)
6. Bounty campaigns. You can get some small rewards for follows, retweets etc. (see altcoin section for more details)

To sum up. There are no easy money in crypto (without putting some effort or risk you won't get profit). Just go, buy BTC and HODL them (maybe invest part of them in casino bankrolls like I do (it's effortless but of course risky investment).
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best NEO wallet? on: November 02, 2017, 02:52:57 AM
Looking at the Neo.org website, the NEON wallet is a web wallet. Does that mean we don't own the private keys and it's a big security risk? Also, since they list a Mobile, Desktop & Web wallet on Neo.org, do all three wallets provide GAS?

Anyone please? Thanks

I'm using NEON as well and yes it provides you with GAS (if you redeem it). I doubt it's web wallet because when creating I was asked to ecrypt the private key.
730  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can ETH match the BTC? on: November 02, 2017, 02:48:26 AM

IMO it can't because of unlimited ETH supply. Though it's a great coin with great features the total cap is major price mover for BTC.

Sorry, relatively new to this as well. Is Bitcoin the only one with a cap? Why wouldn't the others follow suit?

No. There is lot of them (LTC, BTC forks... ).

I think the reason can be the ETH purpose is not to be "currency" or "money" or w/e term we use for things to ease the trading (goods exchange).
It's rather platform for smart contracts and limited supply could ruin it. (What if few persons would hold them all? No new smart contracts could be made at that point).
731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can ETH match the BTC? on: November 01, 2017, 08:36:23 PM
I'm in this crypto world about two months, I've been observing the power of ETH!

IMO it can't because of unlimited ETH supply. Though it's a great coin with great features the total cap is major price mover for BTC.

What does unlimited supply mean? ETH is not unlimited in supply, just like bitcoin. They can be mined and that's the thing why their number doesn't go up synthetically. Market cap of eth can't surpass bitcoin's cap, never.

There is not given max. amount of existing coins.
As long as people will mine it (or turns into POS) there will always be new coins flowing in.
732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can ETH match the BTC? on: November 01, 2017, 08:15:32 PM
Can ETH match BTC? On market cap? Probably. On price? Unlikely, but theoretically possible.

The thing though is, there's no point comparing the two. Bitcoin and Ethereum are made for two different purposes. Bitcoin as a digital currency/payment system, whereas Ethereum was made for smart contracts.

I believe that only ETH and maybe Waves are able to approach the bitcoin level. These crypto grow very well and I wish them a bright future. I'm very curious how it all ends.

Ever heard of an altcoin that is more expensive than BTC? I think there are few.

yes my friend, look at 42-coin, I'd like to get one from her !!!! Smiley

Exemplary case confirming my original thought. This coin has very limited cap (42 coins in total) so the price is accordingly.

So you are crying here for few satoshis and I'm the one who has no money to buy food? You rock.
End of discussion here. Ignored.

I think reCaptcha have some trouble with Google Chrome ...
I doubt that, reCaptcha is also google.

@OP try to login with another google account (if you have any). Have heard some issues were resolved by this.

Even that did not help the issue

Well, then there has to be some error between keyboard and chair  Grin
I have no other ideas. Sorry

EDIT: hehe i think I know where the error is. You have two accounts (have seen you posts in their thread) and most probably you also affiliated the second one to yourself.
If I would be the operator I would cancel your accounts entirely.

Well, probably I know what is the problem: your mother is just a cheap whore. How do you live with understanding such thing? Will you deny the fact or face the reality without crying like a little son of a whore?

C'mon. I tried to help you and this is your reaction? You are just lousy faucet abuser ...so admit that and move along. I'm not the one who is crying here Cheesy
735  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: yabtcl reCAPTCHA on: November 01, 2017, 06:16:18 PM
Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy and what did you guys expect when using multiple accounts. In addition dumb enough to post in their thread with the same account ( this just reflects your IQ )

I have to LMAO.

How did I go from JR Member back to Newbie?

Because the council of elders sat and decide you are not worth Jr. Status  Cheesy

Now seriously. Some of your posts has been deleted thus reducing your activity ( reasons could be off topics, useless posts ... and it also includes crappy topics to which you have replied and which were completely removed later)

EDIT: and thats exactly what I'm talking about. Why did you made another post instead of editing the previous?

why? because I don't really understand the forum quite !00% yet but, its people like you who help (I appreciate it a lot!) to learn!

Ok sorry for being rude.
This forums is bit different from others and it's all because of the signature campaigns.
People are making useless post (as many as they can) just to rank up quickly and be eligible to participate. And when they reach it then it's even worse Smiley ...  (thats what I don't like at all).

Okay cool, so a transaction between crypto's based on different platforms can only be complete via an exchange then? I.e similar to fiats-crypto?
Yes. You need to sell them for the other coin using exchange (some wallet have them implemented ... i think exodus is one of them)
Quote
Does this also infer that all transactions between any various altcoin, no matter the platform/chain/ecosystem requires an exchange?
Yes. but there are some exceptions. e.g. it is possible to send BTC to BCH address and vice versa ... but when you do that you most probably lose them (depends on who controls the receiving address private key)

I have tried to send ETH to ethereum based tokens like FUN via the metamask wallet which produced the bad instruction error.. (i thought that erc20 was directly transferable)

Does this mean I am doing something wrong in the process? Wrong wallet? Or just the wrong idea completely haha  Embarrassed

Essentially i want to participate in an ICO shortly and im not sure how to get the tokens if i cant even transfer these now.

I have very limited knowledge of the ETH environment and no experience with metamask. So better let someone else to answer that. But I assume you can send any ETH token to any ETH address.

740  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: YABTCL.COM reCAPTCHA issues on: November 01, 2017, 03:55:18 PM
No. But I'm not using the faucet. Just playing the free lotery sometimes.
