741  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction: 2 BFL 64+ gh/s Single Preorders on: May 24, 2013, 09:09:40 PM
FYI, BFL never offered a 64GH/s unit.  They offered 40GH/s units initially, which were then upgraded to 60GH/s units.

I sent BFL an email last year asking about this when they changed their product lineup, and they confirmed that they will be delivering 64gh/s per unit in this order. Hence my saying "...so these will be two of the fastest units out there."

Thanks for the heads up though.

Cheers
742  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction: 2 BFL 64+ gh/s Single Preorders on: May 24, 2013, 09:03:34 PM
What happens if/when BFL does not deliver? Will you issue a refund if BFL does not ship in the next 6 months?

I am not going to offer an insurance policy on the preorder. It is BFL's responsibility to get the product to the customer.

However, if you would like to hedge against BFL delivering I'd recommend finding someone to make a bet with.

Cheers,
Garrett
743  Economy / Services / Re: 0.5BTC To Make Cognitive a Logo! on: May 24, 2013, 06:30:55 PM
I've got a few PM submissions that I like already, I'm going to wait a bit longer and see what else shows up before I choose one.

Thanks all!
744  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction: 2 BFL 64+ gh/s Single Preorders on: May 24, 2013, 06:28:24 PM
will you use escrow through john until item is shipped.

I was just about to write another post stating that I will not be using an escrow. This is because revenue from this sale will immediately be put into Cognitive's growth fund, which we might need to utilize before BFL ships. Additionally, there should be no trust issues, because I am a fairly trusted person here, managing well over $100k of other peoples' assets, and even a few hundred btc of the forum's money. Cognitive, the company I manage, currently has a market cap of over BTC2000 which I'm quite proud of Smiley
745  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction: 2 BFL 64+ gh/s Single Preorders on: May 24, 2013, 06:19:57 PM
Payment when the auction ends or when BFL sends the shipping notice?  Is this an upgrade order or a straight purchase?  Thanks.

Payment is due when the auction ends. It is an upgrade order, but that won't matter to you because I will be sending them the old unit then sending the winner of this auction the new one. Actually it is advantageous, because they are slightly prioritizing upgrade orders via their 1/3 shipping plan.

Cheers,
Garrett
746  Economy / Services / 0.5BTC To Make Cognitive a Logo! on: May 24, 2013, 09:29:19 AM
I'm offering 0.5BTC for you to make me a logo. I will only pay for the one I like best. Please submit your work here or via PM. Feel free to watermark it before I pay for it. Upon delivery of the 0.5btc, you agree that I will be claiming full rights to the photo. I will want a high-res PSD as well.

It needs to consist of the text "Cognitive" or "Cognitive Mining" in it, and it needs to look, for lack of a better word: Frickin' sweet.

It should go decently with the current web design here: http://cognitivemining.com/ (More color schemes == better!)

Get crafty!

747  Economy / Auctions / Auction: 2 BFL 64+ gh/s Single Preorders on: May 24, 2013, 09:11:50 AM
On behalf of Cognitive, I am auctioning off two SC Single units, ordered when BFL was promising 64gh/s per unit. BFL has said they will honor this original hashrate, so these will be two of the fastest units out there Smiley

The order number is 3277 and was placed on 7/14/12.

The starting bid is 50BTC, and please bid in increments of 1BTC. Follow the format n@x (e.g. 1@100 meaning one unit for 100 coins). The Auction ends on June 7th, 2013 at 9:00 AM PST. Every bid after 8:55 AM PST on the final day adds another 5 minutes.

Free shipping to USA, everywhere else buyer assumes shipping cost. I reserve the rights to reject any bid and to cancel the auction at any point before payment is made.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Cheers,
Garrett

Garr you going to be one of those 200 5/ghs miners they are shipping tomorrow?  Wink

I would have been, but I upgraded that personal order of mine to a SC Single, which they still aren't shipping yet :/ It should be soon!
749  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC and BF] MININGCO.ETF - Mining Company ETF on: May 22, 2013, 04:13:01 PM
Hey all,

According to the current vote tallies, it looks like the Cognitive motions are going to result like:
Sale of two SC Singes - yes
Purchase of Avalon chips - yes
Purchase of 50BTC "Blade" - no

With the recent addition of Cognitive's growth fund, the asset is set up to do just that: grow. Dividends and share value alike.

COG.F contracts have been selling like hot cakes these last few days, due to the purchases of hardware being soon.

With the proceeds from the SC Single auctions added to the current Cognitive reserve, we should have over 400 coins to invest in new hardware with.

If you ever see anything you disagree with in how I'm operating Cognitive, please bring it to my attention as I only want to keep improving, and external input just expedites that process Smiley

Cheers,
Garrett
750  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: May 22, 2013, 04:01:27 PM
I'm actually leaning toward the bottleneck being something CPU related.  When the site slows down, the cpu on bitcoind pegs at 100% and disk IO does not seem to spike a whole lot.  (I've been graphing the system via collectd.)

Since bitcoind is not multithreaded, I think I'm pretty much at it's limit.

I've never seen it done before, but would running two bitcoind servers (and subsequently moving half of the accounts to the new one) mitigate the problem?
751  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on [BTC-TC] on: May 22, 2013, 03:49:30 PM
Because I'm confident that the motion for the Avalon chips will pass, I have placed an order for 581 (50BTC worth of) ASIC chips from the group-buy operated by steamboat using my own funds. I am fronting my own money because it will get us our chips faster Smiley

Just to be clear: If the motion ends up not passing then I will be out the 50btc and Cognitive suffers no loss, which is a risk I am happy to take.

Cheers,
Garrett

Just an update here -- We did end up going and we took 14th place of the 400 teams there. The only reason we didn't do better is because our bot fell from a 9' tall pyramid which mangled up our shooter quite a bit and made us have two zero point matches. Considering that, I'm pretty impressed with 14th Smiley

Thanks to all who made it happen; it was a fantastic experience!
757  Economy / Securities / Motions Raised! Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive on [BTC-TC] on: May 14, 2013, 05:54:01 AM
A motion has been raised to sell two of our seven SC Single upgrades.

6) Sell the Cognitive BFL preorders, realize a 9 month ROI

Yes, we might be able to sell these for quite a bit.

Just as a reminder: Cognitive's BFL order is #3277 (which is extremely early on) and is for seven FPGA Single -> SC Single upgrades. Shareholders: as Investr suggested, what do you think of selling some or all of these?
759  Economy / Securities / Motion Raised! Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive on [BTC-TC] on: May 14, 2013, 05:31:57 AM
You're spot on, Zapeta.

I've been looking in to all of our options quite extensively this evening, and I've concluded that first of all, based on the scattered feedback via this thread we need to have a formal vote on whether to purchase a Blade.

Additionally, I believe purchasing Avalon chips is a good choice right now. If both of these motions pass, we will still have 60+btc on hand to purchase whatever new hardware shows up. Overall, these motions will put us in a good spot.
