Dear Bitmarkers,

Bitmark (BTM) will be available to trade from tomorrow afternoon Friday 3rd, maybe even around noon time Danish time Smiley

Great. Sounds like you're running a tight operation over there. Good to see. Smiley
742  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] BitmarkDark - Anonymous Marking™ on: October 02, 2014, 05:11:12 PM
Are you going to have KlaranetDark too? Tongue
743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: October 02, 2014, 01:49:33 PM
Can I use a bitcoin-asic (scrypt) on usb for mining this coin because I only have a notebook with a basic videocard.

If it's a scrypt ASIC then yes, you should be able to mine with it. Smiley

We definitely welcome all miners! Welcome! Smiley
744  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: October 02, 2014, 01:48:42 PM

Today I've got some penises while chatting at poloniex.

Still don't know what penis is for but I'm happy anyway.

I'm amarha btw Tongue

You realize that you have a place in Bitmark history now, right? You'll be forever known as the man who sees penises in unlikely places. Cheesy Tongue

Does this coin even have a POD?
Doesn't seem legit
No POD = Red Flag

Disregarding the obvious work that's been done on the project so far which others have pointed out, is being a trustee/escrow of the ~5700 BTC superNET project enough "POD" for you?

Personally, I would be much more skeptical of any currency that feels the need to participate in a system such as "POD" rather than earning value and letting the development speak for itself. That doesn't mean all projects that have done "POD" are scams of course, but we all know how many shady projects also happen to proudly flaunt their "POD" status.

This looks very nice. Waiting for iOS version.

Bitmark/BTM would be a great addition I think as well I might add. Smiley

ask yourself who is going to use or join supernet
can you see the clear answer now?
the hype going to die down so don't be left holding old men panties

Do you feel that way about all cryptos including Bitcoin?

If there is going to be demand for cryptocurrenies then something like superNET is essential to bring another layer of abstraction that provides ease of use for people.

If you think that cryptos are going no where, that's fine too, but to me if people are going to be using cryptos in the near future then superNET is something that logically follows.

Any thoughts on BCX's claim that an attack is in progress and might take up to 22 days to materialize?

So far, I have not seen, nor am I aware that anyone else has seen, any evidence of an attack in progress, and also no specific unaddressed vulnerability to an attack beyond DDoS (which as we all know is mitigated through decentralization).

The image a couple posts above has been analyzed for probabilistic distribution of timestamps... but remember, the in-chain timestamps of that nature wouldn't offer a definitive display of attack capability in this form anyway.  These times are set by the miner that mines the block, and may not be accurate.  They are not required by the protocol to be accurate for good reasons.

It is even normal to have blocks times stamped out of order in which they are hashed or received (as is the case in the snapshot sample shown where 235645 is stamped a second after 235656).1  This can happen for many reasons.  NTP failures are common.  It can also be intentionally set incorrectly, but there is no ill effect from this other than that it can confuse some people.  Those times are indicative only.

It would be a different matter entirely if a great number of freshly hashed blocks in a chain were received in rapid succession.  This is no where evidenced in the XMR block chain to date, and nothing else has been offered by way of evidence of a credible threat.

1 This may be what BCX was pointing to with the sentence: "Check the blocks just prior to the circle."  Do not be confused into fear, by lack of knowledge.  There is no evidence of wrongdoing in this chain sample.

Do you think it's safe to say that by now we would be seeing a lot more odd blocks if an actual attack was underway?

As well I could have said that the hoarding is the only thing that gives value to anything [ ... ]. If there is no interest in anyone to hoard (save) in your currency, even the marvellous use cases do not give it any value, as it just travels lightning-speed through the use cases, but is not in demand by anyone.

Hm, this is quite a change from the arguments used up to six months ago.  Claims like "1 BTC will soon be worth over 100'000 dollars" were entirely based on the prediction that bitcoin would capture some fraction of the e-payments in the world, and the price would have to be that high in order to have that much dollar volume with 21 million coins.

It's beginning to become apparent that it's pretty unlikely that Bitcoin can compete on that level with private entities I think.

There are some bad an inefficient companies out there. Even if Bitcoin makes them step up their service or get over taken by a competitor that does it better it seems like a long shot that Bitcoin is going to become some sort of financial hegemon anytime soon.

Unless there is large scale bank bail-ins. Or some other financial disaster. Then there might be a large flight of capital in to Bitcoin.

But really at this point I'm pretty convinced that the only way crypto has a chance at mainstream adoption is through someone coming up with new, innovative, and easy ways to use it for regular people. Wink

Nice, looking forward to testing out your platform. Smiley
751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 01, 2014, 10:02:21 AM
I said this in another thread but if BTC-e picked up XMR that would be awesome.

BTC-e is a much bigger exchange than most out there.

BTC-e is a dinosaur with those alts, lol. I don't think they've changed since 2012. Except for maybe Primecoin?

Odd that they wouldn't add some of the more high volume alts out there now. Lots of money to be made.

Anyone have an estimate on how many megabyes Laxo Trade has contributed to the blockchain due to their spamming?

Of course there are only 2 options. Dissenting opinions get removed.  :p

There wasn't exactly a lot of suggestions from what I saw. And it seems people just want to move on from this anyway.

Interesting timing. Poloniex just implemented marking as their user reputation system.
756  Economy / Services / Re: FortuneJack.com Signature Campaign – Earn 0.08 BTC!!! on: September 30, 2014, 05:14:12 PM
Confirm.

Good campaign so far. Well run.

Thanks.

I joined another campaign, so I won't be in for this week.

Thanks.
757  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Final [BOOLBERRY] Rebrand Vote - Ends Sept. 30th on: September 30, 2014, 01:48:04 PM

I disagree in prinicipal. No one is dismissing BoolBerry because of its name. If they dismiss it because of the name, they are actually just ignorant of the tech, the skill of the developer and the direction of the development and community. We are in the infant stages of BBR, so the name can be debated and changed without repercussions.

As I've stated before, I think the name Boolberry in general is a good one for something other than an anonymous crypto. Even for a crypto, it's an alright name. But I think if you and everyone else here believes that there aren't people out there who actually are dismissing BBR based on the name alone then I think you guys are wrong about that. I like BBR, but ever since I've been following it I've seen a fairly consistent amount of people bashing it based on the name alone. Some of these people are surely just Monero holders looking to get a jab in on BBR, but even so, some of those Monero holders might have dismissed BBR outright before they made their choice to buy XMR.

People here obviously like the name, and that's great. It's a community project and that the way these things work. But I don't think people should be under the impression that there aren't people out there who won't invest in something called Boolberry.

Some people might be voting with this logic:

I like the name Boolberry therefore we should keep the name.

Where as I think people should make sure their logic goes like this:

I like the name Boolberry enough to dismiss the risk of outsiders rejecting the currency outright based on the name. I realize that there are x% of people who don't see the name as one that should be attached to an anonymous cryptocurrency. But I like the name enough that I feel I get more utility out of keeping the name Boolberry, than I would from the economic utility of likely gaining more money through targeting a larger market.

x% in the above might be a tiny insignificant number, or it might be significant. Without market research we can only go off our experiences in the community here(basically Bitcointalk and the Poloniex troll box).

As an aside it's also possible that the x% for Aureum is higher than the x% Boolberry. So this isn't meant to be some sort of argument that everyone should be choosing Aureum. We don't really know how the public feels since we have no data.

But the big thing is that this a a very biased population here, as everyone who has an interest in BBR now by definition is not someone who dismissed BBR outright because of its name.

Also, you're other points about marketing BBR are good and educating people on BBR and how it's different than other cryptos is great.
758  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: September 30, 2014, 01:26:01 PM
My short take on this, is that the following must be considered:

- Perpetual network security (inflation must always be high enough to secure the network - typically only a problem in the late stage that most coins have not addressed)

- Perception of premine (BCN was rejected outright because the coin was 82% mined when it hit the public; IMO the same will happen with whatever coin and fully regardless if it has been "fair" all the time, the mere fact that it is used by a smallish number of people when it hits the latter part of its issuance is enough to convey this perception, even BTC is problematic in this sense already)

=> Therefore the optimal coin issuance should be either connected to the growth of its economy (which is problematic to do trustlessly, and has not been tried in any coin except perhaps emunie that I don't know about) or tailored to hit its mature phase only when the userbase of the coin is established.

I urge you to read it again because most of the pundits believe that exactly the opposite is good for the coin.

Sounds like the 'S' curve we were discussing earlier in the thread.

Does SuperNet support anonymous messages?

I think that would be a very useful feature for SuperNet to offer.

DarkNote is the only coin which offers secure private messaging based on proven Cryptonote encryption.

Their roadmap also shares some common goals with SuperNet, check it out:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=788916.msg8980301#msg8980301

Based on what I've learned about the technology behind it this would be very easy to add as a feature. (the messaging)
760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop acting like you have to choose between Neos and Monero!!! This is why on: September 29, 2014, 09:03:32 PM
Neos is short term and will dump from this price and be forgotten in a few months. Monero is a extremely cheap right now and will be around for years to come.  Monero is really the only true anonymous coin right now that has a chance for huge adoption.

Man another newbie talking about Things that go way above hes head.
Doesnt matter you Will learn.

Im not saying what one of THE two is better , but neoscoin is a stayer.
THE dev is syntaks And he is not going anywere , i heared Some of hes ideas
For after v2 And i like them a lot. Like he says iTS only THE start there one month
OLd And you talk about pump , dump And leave coin.

Pls Shush And research

The only reason this thread was created was to compare Neos alongside Monero to give Neos more credit than it deserves right now.

Yes, seems someone is trying to create controversy where there is none at all.
