761  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My dice strategy for quick 1.5x on: October 13, 2023, 10:31:19 PM
I’m sharing my dice strategy that I’ve been trying for a few days with good results but also high risk. It can eat your entire bankroll if you lose three times in a row!
Here’s how it works:

Bet: 5% of bankroll
On win: Start with base bet
On lose: increase bet by 300%
Payout: 0.2X

You can make a quick 1.50x if you want to risk your bankroll or you can set stop loss to protect your bankroll. I once doubled my bankroll but after losing 3-4 bets in a row i lost it all,
sometimes that losing streak of 3 in a row comes in initial bets sometimes it takes time,
and the longer you play, the more likely that losing streak of 3 will come.

It doesn't sound like a strategy that we should practice because increasing the bet amount by 300% for 0.5x rewards, is not really worth it.

I would say just put 1% of all your bankroll and keep betting the same amount which will give you at least 100 chances on a continuous losing streak Sound good? Cheesy

@OP your strategy is another variation of the martingale method, IMO.  It is known that the martingale method is devastating to a player's bankroll.  That is why your fund gets depleted when you suffer a series of losses worse, you just need 3 losses to blast your bankroll.

I don't know why you compare it with martingale and clearly, this is at least 10x riskier than the famous martingale strategy because possibly you can lose 3 times continuously at max.
762  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed parent on: October 13, 2023, 07:35:54 PM
But on some wallets (like Electrum), you will be able to spend the coin, but the parent transaction will first get confirmed or be included in the same block the child transaction would be included so that both are confirmed at once.

If I am not wrong the feature is only available on Electrum Android not on PC.

The setting can be found click clicking the green icon top right corner=> preference => Wallet behaviour => 'enable' Spend unconfirmed

OP, you can also try CPFP if the TX fee used for the transaction is low and you want your transaction to be spend immediately.

763  Other / Meta / Re: strange user behavior on: October 13, 2023, 06:25:04 PM
Some nice detective work here. I wonder if there is a reason to why they do this method.
At times spammer moves make no sense to me at all.
Apart from joining the signature campaign, bitcointalk members can make money in other ways too like by in participating games and round sections, and free raffles for that they need to have certain criteria and mostly minimum activity and post numbers. Probably some accounts are farmed for that since signature campaigns become an impossible task for the spammers.

@OP, Newbies will be nuked if they found spamming so an effective tool to fight them is Report to moderator feature.
764  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: P2P Dusting Attack And How Not to Become a Victim on: October 13, 2023, 05:11:35 PM

the amount of cryptocurrency they send to their potential victims is usually so small that sometimes, its hard to notice, but the main goal or purpose of the scammer sending this is to try to trick as many that will notice the transaction, into revealing their private keys, or trick them into visiting a malicious website.

The actual reason for the dusting attack is a threat to the address owner's privacy and FYI receiving some coins whether it dust amount of huge amount has no security concerns so you do no need to worry about the remaining coins in the address or wallet. But if you don't want to compromise privacy then you should freeze that particular UTXO or if the address has no other transactions then freezing the entire address is more than enough so the scammer will never be able to link the funds to any of your addresses.
765  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cross addictions is Just as Bad. on: October 13, 2023, 03:30:31 PM
Ever heard of cross addiction or suffered from it?
What do you think?
I hadn't heard about this term but I experienced it myself but it doesn't relate to gambling.

Reducing the expenditure from 100 to 20 is good from a financial perspective but still, the addictive nature of the person remains and who knows where it leads so cross-addiction is not a good thing, and the long-term remedy is to treat the addictive nature or if someone wants to treat themselves which is possible at the early stage by challenging their urge and limiting their actions gradually.
I have heard cross addiction but I never got the chance to understand it better. Now that I have clearly understood it, I must say that cross addiction is just as worst as your first gambling addiction. As long as there is an abuse, it will certainly create a negative outcome. If you can’t deal with your main addiction, then how can you manage taking cross addiction. Of course, the outcome will always be negative. That is why learn to admit your main addiction in the first place and treat it by being open minded and even ask help from a medical expert or from your family so you can get rid with it. Cross addiction will not be helpful, it will only worsen your condition as your addiction grows even bigger.
It can either be positive or negative depending on what kind of thing the person gets addicted to overcome their gambling addiction. And for the record even working all day long is some form of addiction and we use the word workaholic for them not addict that is why what we choose matters. But the addictive nature should be treated and probably it can be a condition for a long life so it can be under control with the discipline towards our actions but yes it needs medical expert's help mostly.
766  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Something dangerous we do when using Binance P2P platform on: October 12, 2023, 06:57:27 PM
I know that some are doing this to notify you to release funds after, as some sellers are not serious, they can initial the trade and start doing something else, wasting someone else time, but the truth is this act is out of Binance platform, you break the rules if you decide to do trade with such people, they have your phone number and they can text dangerous link to you pretending to be from Binance.

The platform will notify to the user so no need to ask for personal information as mandatory but the actual reason why the number asked by the p2p trader is to send your fake payment proof messages like an SMS coming from your bank that the amount is credited. Cheesy

These are very basic methods to scam but it's a worrying sign that people who are buying/selling Bitcoin don't even realize they need to validate the payment proof by visiting the bank account online and matching the reference number.

Now most of the big traders moved to auto payments, like you will be paid from their account to the details you share with them so no need to make payments manually, and thousands of trades happen every day with no actual work.
767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t push playing more on: October 12, 2023, 05:17:14 PM
Today I encountered again my biggest nemesis on gambling which is being stuck on my gambling progress. I’ve gambling for multiple days in a row with just having a breakeven on my total bankroll. This due to the game doesn’t gave me any long winning streak and only just more losses. The only thing that makes me keep up on the breakeven side is the increased on wager to recover my losses but my gambling result is literally 1 win to 3 or more losses ratio. This is how bad my overall game.

The only good news is this time I remember how this weakness of mine always makes me lose in the past so I stop already gambling and take a break. This is what I’m trying to share here. If you really feel that your gambling doesn’t want to make you move forward by having decent profit and just giving you a hard time then don’t hesitate to quit! Don’t push forward while you are already playing uncomfortably because this will just make you bet recklessly.

Have a break and just gamble newt week or month because a lucky game will make you win easily and not with a very hard to win winning condition.
"Don't chase your loss". that is what you are trying to convey and it has been already told a million times but we won't learn the lesson until we get hit on the bankroll unexpectedly.

Luck based games are totally unpredictable, even you can make up for 100 lost bets in one or two big multipliers but as I said its unpredictable so we never know whether we will be able to achieve it or just go with the loss completely. So keep it simple, gamble until you exhaust the money that you want to spend, and stop once you reach your limit.

769  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: October 12, 2023, 01:13:12 PM
As the gambling industry is evolving, I think innovations would have kicked in that can make someone create a career from gambling. I do not know how this can be achieved but I feel it is possible.

Casinos also need employees to operate so if you can find a job related to the casino industry then you can make a life out of it.

If you mean living just by gambling then its bad and no one should ever even think like that.

Gambling totally depends on luck so you can't decide the outcome of your bets unlike in job where your skills and other abilities will come into play.
770  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not keeping records makes me a bad gambler? on: October 11, 2023, 06:43:55 PM
Good day crypto Famz, I will like to ask gamblers this question, is there any gamblers on here that keeps record of their wins and losses? Do you keep a record of all the pennies you use to gamble and also the result?

Someone whom we both have this discuss yesterday said this is a good practice, I still don't see a reason why because I don't keep record of my losses, I tend to only remember when I win a certain amount, if its good enough you won't easily forget, but apart from this I don't care.

So Famz, is there any benefits when one keeps record on their losses and wins? Is there any thing to gain when you write down all the money you spent in gambling and also how much you have made so far?

Not keeping records, does this make me a bad gambler?

Keeping a record of all your spending itself a good practice which will help you to realize where and how much money has been spent on something and if you feel the amount spent is too much for you then it can be lowered in future so will help you to free from your monthly budget.

Now talking about myself, I don't because I know I am spending very little on gambling so it's like something negligible amount for me so it can be recorded in the misc expenses but if you are someone who gambles a lot and wants to know how much you are betting then doing it will be a good thing for your finance management.
771  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 11, 2023, 04:36:25 PM
Avoiding a gambler friend after a big win doesn't look like a bad thing to me, the person who follows such aware of the outcomes if he tries to make a fortune with the money he won, so he probably settled to do other things than just gambling, probably clear the loan or thinking of investing them in the best possible way.

If you are on the receiving end, it may look like the person tore his mask mask but also think from the other perspective and come to a conclusion before judging anyone.
772  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ratimov trust abuser and shit plagiarized person on: October 11, 2023, 11:41:29 AM
Why this spammer is still in the bitcointalk and not yet banned?

Many cases opened against this lier and still he is posting freely. All DT member afraiding of him.
This thread clearly identify all proves. waiting for banning this shit person.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5303363.0

If there is clear evidence that he committed plagiarism then he will be banned because the rules are the same for everyone and one who violates will face the consequences too.

Instead of saying he committed plagiarism why not come up with some examples, also the thread you shared has no details about plagiarism so if you want to prove your statement then start digging for evidence instead of blabbering here.

The person you are accusing is a valuable contributor to the forum in many ways for example he reported 100,000 posts with 100% accuracy.

Another one for you is that he contributed in every way

773  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Fuck you ledger on: October 11, 2023, 09:34:11 AM
.
.
Did they admit that? If so, how can this be seen as a secured wallet? If I am not wrong, Ledger claims, "Here at Ledger we strongly believe in open source. It's one of our core values, a great philosophy that advocates openness, and verifiability. Open source allows developers and security experts to review the code and ensure it is secure and not malicious. Open source means you don't need to trust" [1]

If they are open source, can't developers verify that the Ledger has a chance to steal users' private keys? Did nobody try it? Now, I am curious about it. Do you remember the recent hack of Atomic Wallet, where thousands of users reported that their wallet was hacked and they did not use any phishing? If users did not use phishing, how was their wallet hacked? These wallets are not non-custodial anymore.

It's proven that Ledger Live has the ability to extract the recovery seeds from the Hardware wallet also they admitted that they share the details with the third party which isn't right when you expect complete security for your crypto assets.

Discussion : Ledger Recovery Service.

Also, they lied about their status being open source : Ledger Open Source Fakery?!

So whoever wants to keep their crypto now should boycott Ledger as well as Trezor.
774  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Fuck you ledger on: October 11, 2023, 08:33:43 AM
Yes it's electrum , l learned lot of stuff here and about cold wallet , really very cool

I hope you know how to make a cold wallet aka air-gapped wallet using electrum on a completely offline device so that you never ever have to come online from the device where seeds are stored which makes it invulnerable to potential attacks.

I wrote how to do it, so take a look at it and see if you did everything right

Download the latest version of Electrum from https://electrum.org/#download and then verify the signatures before installing it.

[GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum

Then copy the downloaded file to your air-gapped device and install it, then restore your wallet with your seeds "Standard Wallet -> I already have a seed".

Then go to  "Wallet -> Info" and get your "Master Public Key"

After this go to your device which is connected to the internet create the "watch-only" wallet (Standard Wallet -> "Use a Master Key)

By this method device will be never connected to the internet so you no need to worry about your seeds being exposed to malware or anything.

775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If we lose in gambling, what do we need to do? on: October 09, 2023, 06:30:25 PM

The term "a lot of money" is subjective to one's financial status so only you know how much is a lot of money for you.

I have an acquaintance, a businessman, he owns a lumber factory. He said he sold his 2 trucks because he lost gambling, and he lost them in just 3 months. Maybe his financial condition didn't suffer because of that, but for me it was a very big losses
Let's say those 2 trucks are worth 5% of his total asset value then it's acceptable but still it shows that he didn't learn from the mistakes he made which is important for a business man. Anyway, he told you that he suffered due to that loss financially or you just related to that situation on your own?

Because its totally different and you can't compare someone's risk tolerance level with yours.
776  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If we lose in gambling, what do we need to do? on: October 09, 2023, 02:28:54 PM
...
what should we do if we have lost a lot of money on gambling?

Do we keep gambling to win so we can cover up previous losses? or stop and work normally and leave gambling? Or do you have other suggestions?

The term "a lot of money" is subjective to one's financial status so only you know how much is a lot of money for you.

I don't gamble to win (chase back) the lost money from a previous bet and again it depends on individuals but what is the right thing to do to avoid chasing the loss cause it leads to further loss that can be avoided if we just stopped at the right time.

If you ever feel that you are betting a lot of money then its a sign of addiction towards gambling so as soon as you notice it then better take a break from gambling if you still can't control the urge then its time to see a therapist.

777  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Don't be afraid of buying Bitcoin on: October 09, 2023, 01:12:52 AM
Let me show you why wealthy men like changpeng Zhao(cz), Brian Armstrong, Jed mc Caleb etc can hold billions in Bitcoin without being afraid.
I think we can mention Microstrategy also.

The difference is they are holding millions/ billions worth of bitcoins but I guess we are talking about retail investors who mostly invest in thousands at most, losing 20% in a few minutes is not going to be easy for them which is why they are prone to panic selling.

So what should they(small investors) understand is the basics of investment, risk tolerance, compounding effect, and diversification, again its a vast topic that can't be explained in one post but if someone is interested in knowing the secret of being a successful investor then they will learn those things eventually.

For now, if you are a newbie just focus on your long-term financial goals and don't get tempted by short-term trading.

Someone has a similar topic created yesterday or a day ago.
If you take a look at the beginners' section a similar kind of thread is created by newbies every day,

I started a new journey today in Bitcoin

I can find at least three similar threads in the first two pages and this goes on every page.

I wonder if these newbies are smart enough to find B&H section then why don't read the similar threads that exist already, just go on and create a new one for themselves?

Moreover, they won't even revisit the thread again and engage in the discussion. Roll Eyes

779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Casino make money on Poker on: October 08, 2023, 05:44:12 PM
Poker is different than games like dice/slots where the player bets against the house while in poker it's mostly between versus another player so the house doesn't lose anything but charges some amount from the winnings which vary from one casino to another and compared to other games casinos probably make less money on poker. However, poker players most likely play big hands compared to other games so it may compensate for the difference.

Nowadays, casinos include as many games as possible on their platform so the users don't have to look for other platforms when they want to bet on another game.
780  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I can’t cope on my own. What do you think I should do? on: October 08, 2023, 03:30:32 PM
I will never trust the signals to bet my money and it should be followed by everyone too so that you can't blame anyone for the decisions you make. It's good that it worked out for you but I won't call it an achievement in gambling since we are talking about something that is based on the luck factor so you can say that your luck factor changed in the latest phase.

If someone ever stuck in this situation then keep one thing in your mind whether you want to continue trust the tips coming from someone whether its paid of free or just gonna trust your own thoughts and let everything controlled by your common sense.
