how bter.com escrow will work? they will open some online form to participate in IPO or what?

It seems like it will be done here : https://bter.com/trade/crsale_btc
762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Crypti | Release July | 100% POS | New Source on: July 09, 2014, 10:06:21 PM
Will there only be a web wallet or also a desktop client?

After IPO when wallet will be published you could download it on your Pc/Linux/Mac and install it.
Will it be a dedicated client (something like a QT) that completely operates locally or will it just be a local interface that communicates with the web wallet?

EDIT : Also just to confirm on Twitter BTER say the IPO is on the 10th, whereas the OP says 11th. Which is the correct date?

764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC trade volume much higher than BTC ? on: July 09, 2014, 04:05:01 PM
I've never seen LTC trade volume higher than BTC (in terms of BTC traded), unless of course you mean :

In 24 hours :

20 000 LTC volume / 3000 BTC volume
765  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Xapo Vault - Anyone using it? on: July 09, 2014, 03:55:18 PM

"and it wasn't your fault"

so when YOUR pc get hacked because no antivirus, no firewall, no 2factor or bad password, they dont pay you.
they will pay you when THEY get hacked or an employe stole the BTC.

Well they could swing virtually every hacking attempt like that. When THEY get hacked they could (not saying they will) just make an excuse and put all blame on the user. I guess users will have to trust them to keep their word

i thought capped at 25 BTC. so when you have 30 BTC and the Vault got hacked, they pay you 25 BTC back and the rest of your BTC is gone.

but take a look, maybe iam wrong. too much news in the last weeks  Cheesy

I've been following them for a while with their debit cards, never heard once about their vault service though Cheesy
766  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Xapo Vault - Anyone using it? on: July 09, 2014, 03:50:51 PM
its better than nothing and a good start. the ecosystem needs that kind of service. but isnt the insurance kept at 25 BTC ?! read that somewhere...

Insurance capped at 25 BTC?
767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The end of Mintpal - Which exchange will be the new leader? on: July 09, 2014, 03:47:35 PM
You guys do realize Bittrex add shitcoins all the time, moreso than MintPal. The only volume they get is from those shitcoins.
768  Economy / Service Discussion / Xapo Vault - Anyone using it? on: July 09, 2014, 03:44:17 PM
Hey everyone

If you guys don't know about Xapo yet, they are a new Bitcoin startup that raised over $40M in funding by venture capitalists : http://www.coindesk.com/xapo-bitcoin-debit-card-launch-month/

I just created an account there and I found out about their vault service :

Quote from their site :

Quote
The Xapo Vault is fully-insured, backed by Meridian Insurance. The insurance is provided at no charge to Vault users and covers all incidents that are not caused by you. In this event, any bitcoins you lose will be replaced by Xapo.

Quote
What is Xapo Vault?
Vault
Think of it like a leather wallet vs. a steel safe deposit box. Your everyday wallet is convenient and – unless you leave it sitting around – is pretty secure. But then there’s the safety deposit box at your bank. It’s not everyday that you want to get your special something out, but when you do, you have to first pass the bank’s armed guard, then use a fingerprint scanner, and then have the matching key. In the highly unlikely event that something does happen to your bitcoins, and it wasn't your fault, rest assured that they are fully insured, backed by Meridian Insurance. If hackers attack, an employee goes rogue, or any other wrongdoing happens that’s out of your control, we will fully return your bitcoins.

Anyone using this service? Also what do you think about their insurance? I wonder if it would work like typical insurance where I could file a claim if my account get's hacked.
769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SilkCoin | New Wallet | NOW on MintPal / Cryptsy | FULL POS on: June 24, 2014, 09:18:32 PM
What I'm posting here is what I've done and experienced with the SilkCoin team over the past month that I've been with them. As some of you may know I started out as an avid supporter of SilkCoin, and I became an even bigger supporter when I was added to the SilkCoin team. I would just like to notify the community of all the things I've done for SilkCoin.

These are all of the things that I've done for SilkCoin

  • I was the person who conceptualized mysilkcoin.com
  • I organized our whole team to work on a dedicated team management platform
  • I spearheaded Operation Shock & Awe
  • I designed, scripted and produced the Introductory video for SilkCoin
  • I designed all graphical elements in the OP
  • I redesigned the whole SilkCoin wallet UI to take it from what it looked originally to how it does now.
  • I came up with the SilkReich Parody video series for SilkCoin
  • I was the one who proposed the idea for the Oculus Rift Competition, and the I was the one who went about the whole process

That's not all though, I had more for SilkCoin up my sleeve. These pictures below are what would have been the new Trading page and the Eco-System launch page, everything was designed and ready I was just waiting for the developers to implement it :

New Trading Page

In total I must have spent close to 300 solid hours of work trying to take SilkCoin to the top, all to no avail. Why did I do it? I knew that if SilkCoin became one of the top 5 coins, which it had more than enough potential to do, I would never have to work again in my life. I poured everything into this coin, heart, wallet and time, so believe me that if anyone is disappointed it's me.

Whichever way you look at it now, SilkCoin is dead. I have a plan to appease everyone though. I've spoken with a few people and I plan to fork SilkCoin and release it as a new coin with new branding. See the paper here for more details : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1L8VDgnu5J6mUCFrw9WmO_TiloSdyga6BhxyNA1qPRug/edit?usp=sharing

To everyone interested in this new fork, please PM me.

I'm not currently 100% sure of what's going on with the developers, but please everyone be cautious right now. There was a post late last night saying that there is supposed to be an update today at around 8PM GMT. If you look at the GitHub repo, there were commits for the Trading functions : https://github.com/shnurf/silkcoin

As Quantum and cryptomaik posted above me, I'm in the same boat as everyone here. The developer has delivered before, I'm hoping that he will deliver again.
771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SilkCoin | New Wallet | NOW on MintPal / Cryptsy | FULL POS on: June 22, 2014, 06:06:56 PM
We are 5 devs working on the code, at launch one of them looked the part of the address but since he's not used to Base58 encoding he checked https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Base58Check_encoding and thought 25 would be S. Remember we are multiple devs working on the code.
Regarding your coment cryptodevil, how can you say the first letter of the public key is the engine Wink?

We discovered it pretty soon, but what implication does this have? None. On the other hand would you really think it would be a good idea to change the address formatting after launch? No.
Anyway, how can anyone call this a problem? We have bigger problems to deal with, and if this is the only criticism you can make over Silk, well we're happy.

On other news, seeing the last nights dumps we will try to include the built-in exchanger in tomorrow's update to boost up confidence a bit in the market.
We are also trying our best to finish the revision of the paper as soon as possible. I hope you still liked the present released infos Wink.

Last thing, we are thinking about moving the thread to a self-mod thread. I was against that idea at first but seeing it's becoming impossible to have a civilized discussion/debate here because of the FUD & co we feel this our only option.

Hi Silkcoin,

Could you explain what the built in exchanger will enable us to do?

Thanks

It means that you can make trades from your wallet, on supported exchanges such as MintPal and Bittrex
772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SilkCoin | New Wallet | NOW on MintPal / Cryptsy | FULL POS on: June 22, 2014, 02:17:02 PM
What is the next step in Silk coins Marketing campaign? The voting and Oculus both did great.

There's something in the works, but it's too early to release at the moment Wink
773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SilkCoin | New Wallet | NOW on MintPal / Cryptsy | FULL POS on: June 20, 2014, 06:26:00 PM
To those watching the market, some attempts at market manipulation is being made, fake sell walls were put up, (subsequently they've now been removed). This seems a last ditch attempt by price manipulators to acquire coins before the whitepaper announcement.
774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SilkCoin | New Wallet | NOW on MintPal / Cryptsy | FULL POS on: June 20, 2014, 04:58:03 PM
today there is a white paper? or not???

It's being released early tomorrow Wink
775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SilkCoin | New Wallet | NOW on MintPal / Cryptsy | FULL POS on: June 20, 2014, 01:02:05 PM
Can we please stop the troll shit (and ignore them totally) and get back professional?

Well I just wanted to show the lighter side of things. We don't want people who are just hearing about SilkCoin to visit our thread and jump right into a heated discussion.

If you'd like an update, the whitepaper is coming out tomorrow and Mac compile is coming by the end of the weekend. You'll see a lot more technical discussion taking place once the whitepaper has been released.

Oh another question. Will we be able to sign up for the closed beta or is it an internal thing??

More info regarding that will be released soon after the whitepaper  Wink

Relax badass.. It's all in good fun.. Look at google they have fun in there work place..

But anyway Wulfcastle what your guys time zone? Friday night where I am.. So Saturday for you would be in how many hours??

I'm not in the same time zone as the rest of the team, but I believe majority are GMT+1. So most likely in around 18 hours, assuming the whitepaper is released at 10AM tomorrow.

I think we all needed to relax a bit and let off some steam after a few pages this morning, of some heated FUD/spam spreading so whenever you see a troll post this :

Just a bit of humor to cool things down a bit Wink

Who sold 23 btc? I hope it is the whales that are catching up this, otherwise it is doomed.
Almost zero activity-check
spreading doom talk- check

Fact: Propably someone trying to buy cheap so he is trying to start panic sell first. Doesnt work though.

Not trying to spread some doom talk, that was fact. I'm just curious who can be able to sell such large amounts at this price level. Not many traders can sit on that. Wondering where it comes from, one day before announcement...

Sorry if I was little harsh but look at the rich list...it propably was more people than one.

And people know tomorrow there will be reason for price going higher, so they are trying to lower price so they can repurchase more coins :-)

I've been monitoring the market as well over the last few hours, and to me it seems like someone is trying to manipulate the price. This EXACT same process happened two days ago, a few hours before the wallet update was posted. It seems like a few people are trying to push the price down in an attempt to acquire more coins before the whitepaper announcement.

I agree with you, looks like huge accumulation between 4000-3500 sat.  It will be interesting to see what will happen coming day(s).

If you look at it every time there's a breakout above 4K, "fake" sell walls appear and drive the price down and you see people panic sell into big buy walls. This process has been happening everyday for the last 4 or 5 days. It's nothing more than a few people trying to acquire more coins at this price level by suppressing the price.

You might be the only smart one here.

i'm only showing this because I've already got all the coins I need (willing to put in one basket) and don't want these FUDers to get them cheaper.
Don't get tricked into panic selling. This is what they are doing. You can assume that most of the orders up to 5000 are fake since most of it has already been bought up in the last few days. The only ones panic selling now are those who either bought at the lowest or bought in the spike up to 4800 and are selling at loss to chase other coins.

Notice how all the orders under 4000 are tiny? It's because they don't want to risk their own coins getting bought up in the process of pushing the price lower.

http://youtu.be/2wXsNpnUOOI

Agreed, have you noticed that every time we drop down to the 3.7K/3.6K range, the sell orders in that range are non-existent. No sell orders are ever placed below 3.8K for fear of their own their coins being bought up like you said.
