this relentless, violent, never stopping, idiotic dumping of the best money ever existed, e v e r y fkn time bitcoin moves up some tiny steps -- I will never get it. I know it is important. I know it serves the finding of the price. if one wants to sell, why not a limit order and let the price get there instead of pushing it down for everyone through market orders. we are obviously attacking ath soon. why dump now?

v8 said it before: they need to accumulate more. that is why they keep it down.
Or are they weak hands, I think the two will overlap at these levels

Well, no hodler will sell under yesterday's price after we've had a new AYH today, that's for sure. The weakest hands are of course the high leverage traders. They are like scaridy cats - with each small dip they have to sell in order to cut their losses. Is this strategy going to work for them? Of course, no. Sometimes such plankton swims here and persuades us that this is the way of earning big money. In their view $100 high risk leverage trading gain is way better than say buying a cruise ship by just hodling several years. This leads to insanity of course. r0ach and proudcunt are exhibit A for that. They wake up each morning thinking they are kettles and go to bed dreaming of prices like $200.

roach and our guy Proudhon are incomparable. a nazi vs a bear that has scientific proof (confirmed!) for bitcoin going to $200 is not the same. I really do believe gembitz and Proudhon are the biggest btc whales in here. if I had 5k btc I would contribute with the same magnitude of deepness to this forum as them.

regarding chart: what are the bears trying to paint here? a double fake out?  Cheesy

From some old posts I've read r0ach and proudcunt as "master" shorters sold between $200 and $600 firmly believing the price will fall down to $200 again. And this continues until today, which of course is insanity. As for gembitz, he is a bit different. Although he became famous with his 'weee' at each dip, recently he post hodlers memes, so I guess we can count him as  a hodler. A bit bipolar and strange for sure, but still a hodler... for now.

Since I have to switch from Claymore to Phoenix for my old 390's rigs, I have the following strange problem. The miner recognizes some of my 8Gb Hawaii cards as 4Gb and it won't hash of course. No matter how many restarts I make, this doesn't change. The strange thing is that sometimes the log shows I have 4Gb card, and sometimes 8Gb. Still the DAG is not generated in all cases.

The kernels for Hawaii GPUs doesn't support -daglim and won't work with ETH or ETC. We are looking into modifying them but it won't be easy as they are several generations behind.

I don't understand what my problem has to do with -daglim. I have 8 Gb Hawaii cards, all of them are working fine with Claymore under linux. But 1/4 of them do not hash under Phoenix miner. The other 3/4 are hashing at 30 Mh/s, the same as with Claymore (who is not supporting any more his miner, and all cards will stop working after epoch 385, no matter their VRAM). I think the problem is that somehow the miner thinks their VRAM is 4Gb, since the dag is not generated for these cards and sometimes at the start (at least the first run of the miner) it shows 4Gb for them, but after a reboot - the correct 8Gb. But even if it shows 8Gb it won't hash. I think the miner has some wrong cache that needs to be cleared regarding some previous information of 4Gb.  Claymore also falsely recognizes them at the first run as 4Gb, but after a reboot it recognizes them as 8Gb and starts hashing with them.

P.S. All other Polaris rigs are with Phoenix and they work perfect. I even have some rarely seen 6GB 280x's (Tahiti) which hash with 26 Mh/s under linux Smiley

Is there a possibility for -rxboost and -strap parameters for amd polaris cards in some new version of the miner for ethereum?

You can use that directly for example in SMOS or in HiveOS you don't need to do it by the miner. For example in HiveOS you can add the REF 30 for your RX or in SMOS … also the last beta os RaveOS allow you to use the AmdTweak to include this -rxboost or -strap that you are looking for. It is better directly by the OS to do it.

I use both OS for my rigs, but I'm talking about Windows. Since I use the card for gaming as well, I don't want to mod the bios.

What I can get for rx 580 8Gb is max 28.1 Mh with -straps 3 -rxboost 100. While on Claymore I get 32.1 Mh with -strap 1 -rxboost 30. What are the best settings for these cards (without bios modding), so that I achieve this speed?

Edit. I see now that -straps is for Vega only. I hope soon there will be for Polaris as well.

Good volume and still above $15k, this little monster survives on cash, and he's young and hungry, i'm getting a beer

I wonder why proudcunt is a no show here after his laughable posts "not going above 200, 1K, 10K ever again - proved by math and science". I guess proudcunt will show next year with a similar post: "not going above 100K ever again - proved by math and science"  Grin Grin Grin Grin

It never ceases to amaze me how the daily traders always find a way to lose money. The other day they sold with 10% loss, today with 6%. Don't they see the big picture? Normal people are buying and withdrawing from exchanges. The charts from various sites (glassnodes, CQ, etc.) show that the supply is down with another 100K BTC in the last 3 days. This shows how much confidence people have in BTC, despite the AYH's which rain every other day. What is the consequence, the price going up or down? (A question for imbeciles, but they are at this level of evolution - somewhere between monkeys and primates.)

This is one of those pinch me if I'm awake moments. After so much suffering throughout the last 3 years, the price hit $16K during the night. Currently it is stabilizing around $15.6K, which is better than going straight to $17K. On a more personal layer, I've contemplated for a year about a similar scenario. Don't judge me, but I've sold 1.6% of my stash for the first time after the 2017 crash.

The reasons are multiple. First, I'd drained both my credit cards to buy in $3K area in 2018. Second, I'd taken a loan to buy in March increasing my stash by 5%. I was too confident that $7K was a good price and the covid pandemic wouldn't affect the price. Hours later the price fell below $4K. So I basically was in mindrust's situation. But I decided to wait to see what will happen in 1 year. Now I have >3x profit from my loans.

I look upon this more like a variation of a long position with borrowed funds from the bank, but a hodler style. I'm not a trader, and never will be. In the mean time several devices went almost out of order and wait in line for a replacement - my phone, tablet, washing machine and tv. There are always expenses for the car as well. So my decision is completely justified and I am feeling good about it. This is a small reward for all the nerves and stress for both me and my father. Now he is shocked in a good way that all my predictions for the price shooting upward were correct. And he is congratulating me for the nerves and cold blooded hodling.

And finally, currently the fiat equivalent is more than enough for the main goal which I set for myself in 2017. In terms of fiat the difference is more than 5x. What will happen in 2021 is another story. I expect some remarkable highs which will tempt me to cash out and quit my job. Hopefully, I will keep most of my stash and sell only what I really need. I really love my job, but sometimes it is ridiculous to dress up, drive to work, check the price and see that during the drive I've earned the equivalent of my salary for many years of work. Not a great stimulus for work, but I don't complain Smiley

3 more days like this and we will have a new ATH.

what a bullish dump  Cheesy

shorters must be brain damaged to short a rocket like this beast.

edit: $1000 drop on stamp within minutes back to normal. fuck shorters.

I saw it happen, from 14,8xx to 14,1xx & back again within 2 seconds.

Weird!

The sell clearly came from one guy rage selling 280BTC on Bitstamp for $4.2 mil losing $400K on the way down. Bob, is that you?

Guys, sorry for saying this but fuck crypto.

We are all going to die if they don't fix this shit soon. (or we'll wish we are dead) There are far more important shit going on and bitcoin's price is the last thing I am worried about right now. A lot changed in the last 24 hour.

They say millions will be infected how teh fuck bitcoin can go up with this little adoption?

Tbh I am not even sure if i want back in from 4500 I might cancel that order if its not filled by tomorrow too.

This is too much volatility for my mind. All I wanted was a car and a house and a job I love doing. I guess it was too much to ask from this life.

Curse the day I learned about this shit.

I am out of my position from 4550USD.

Few moments later it went from 4000 to 4800 after I sold.

I am a nocoiner now.

Only lost $2k from my initial investment but who knows how much I lost from my future profits.

I just deleted every signature gain, every fork gain I got.

It is on the exchange now. I am one click away. Cant do it.

I am in panic. So yes. It is going down.

IF by the time I get a confirmation it becomes $3k, I'll just forget about it. Right now I can get back what I invested. My signature earnings are completely erased though.

Going all out, last time I checked my local exchange wtill pays 5k for a piece. I must get out before they wake up. Waiting for the fucking confirmation

4700 already and no confirmation

I think I am about to capitulate .

I can live with one arm.

Death spiral.

Wait, what’s that I see?

$13,000
$14,999.90

I really hope mindrust is alive and well. Given the current price, I doubt for the latter, but anyway. He was stubborn and self-complacently not listening to us telling him to rebuy immediately even with a small loss. His words may looked very strong to him, but they were all a bubble which popped immediately. Let this be a lesson for all pannic sellers.

Anoter ATH (not yet) AYH $14236 14 277 Bitstamp. We all know, this is just the beginning of the new bull run, right? Which reminds me to share something I did in Dec 2017. After I've read much about the effect of the manipulations with derivatives, I decided to cash out half of my bitcoins at $14K, you know, just in case. The decision was right, but not the timing. Several hours later the price shoot up by more than 30%. I just couldn't believe how the market has turned against me (again for the 3rd time that year). If I were passive, now I should've had twice the coins I have now. Well, mistakes of the growth, watcha gonna do. So I gave up my plan to sell to rebuy back with profit my bitcoins. I just was so frustrated, I couldn't think soberly, I thought that the price will never go below $14K again. So I rebought at higher price. This was my last 'protection' against falls. Unless I am completely satisfied with the price, I won't sell anything. The emotions are just too much to handle. So I am patiently waiting for $100K-140K, when may be I will sell some small part just to buy some more expensive things that need to be replaced.

Let me share a curios and a little unpleasant story. In my country, a large part of the population ID's expires this year. The government has decided to extend this period by another year due to the covid crisis and to avoid crowds. So far so good. But I started receiving letters from all crypto exchanges that my ID has expired. And now I have to write letters to the support, to explain myself to them to give me access to my accounts. I do not currently have access to any exchange and I have to wait days, probably weeks for this issue to be resovled. This sucks.

[editet out]

Hey I'd like to start mining ETH just for fun. What are the specs of the GPU rig you could suggest? Nothing fancy just a budget GPU. Any hints?

Today AMD announced new cards 7nm navi 2. I expect 6800 xt to be the best for mining with price starting from $550. The navi 1 radeon vii was a beast with around 100 Mh, so I guess something like 150 Mh for 250 W. It is comparable with the asic miners, so for the next year this will be the card to go for mining.
