781  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger's laying off employees. Thoughts? on: October 07, 2023, 07:25:54 PM
They deserve bankruptcy! You don't go from "the seed phrase never leaves the device" to "oh yeah it's fine we'll keep your seed for you" without consequences.
They will eventually and basically Ledger company is a sinking ship and with their actions, I don't think they will ever gonna regain the lost trust. Their story of longevity just proves that they need financial sources to survive as long as they can since they are not making any profits.

I think it is time for them to build something other than hardware wallets like USB Humping Dog Cheesy
782  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Education. on: October 07, 2023, 05:08:14 PM
You're correct but don't you think teaching them this things individually will help them to understand them better as they'll learn them one by one than when you combined everything in Money management to teach them. Most of this individual aren't financially educated and they're newbies when it comes to the subject of money. To avoid confusing them or giving them too much information that they can't process, teaching them one after another might have more success.
What you are saying is like Band-aid instead of suture which may work or may not but why we have to take that risk and just start from the root cause that will eliminate the confusion of many issues at once and we can expect the changes in the society in a decade or two but if you are going to teach one by one then it will take a decade for one issue then it's a never-ending sotry.
The countries that prohibit gambling has a reason for doing that, it might be religious reasons just like the Muslim countries not permitting it

Gambling is prohibited in Christianity too, but they can teach about it in the banned countries too then only they will realize why they banned it in the first place. Banning something outright will provoke something among the people and it will lead them into the underworld casinos which has no rules and policies.
783  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you manage greed to place your bet on: October 07, 2023, 04:32:24 PM
For much long now I have never place bet with a higher amount but there was a bet i placed few days ago and i was tempted to increase my wager from what it should be before, Let say i often gamble with at least 200 Naira and maximum is 2,000 for a multiple bets But recently something came into me to start increasing my wager above my limits due to a game that was predicts to me it gives me all possibilities that I could cash out big time. This now made me to come here to asked how do you control your greed with your bet amount, do you go ahead placing the bet as your minds speaks or do only maintain to your limits whether it plays or not doesn't matter.

Betting random amount suitable for casino games such as dice, roulette, and slots whereas you should be careful with poker games where you have to raise the money and beat the opponents so it's different so the strategy comes into play also should be different on what games you are betting at. Simply if you want to control the greed then just skip the bet and that is the honest way in my opinion.

Controlling the betting amount and staying under our limits will work to some extent but with greed, I don't want to take any risk and I am not going to lose anything if I am not letting the greed take over my common sense.
784  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: They know the truth but they don't want to accept it, publicly on: October 07, 2023, 07:23:50 AM
Money is the important reason why everyone gambles and if I am not wrong that is what the actual meaning of gambling is.

But what everyone here says or at least pretend to be, it should not be the sole reason for gambling because we know the odds are against us so most likely the house will beat us but still we may win and that is what we call a luck factor.

No one is going to gamble if there is no benefits but it doesn't mean people will stop spending their money cause most of our earnings are going somewhere which doesn't bring anything to us at all so at least gambling gives us a chance to win some money.
785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Education. on: October 07, 2023, 05:27:26 AM
Many countries prohibit gambling, to the extent that they do not licence any casino in their country. This however did not completely prevent the citizens of such countries from gambling. They go extra miles by using hidden or rerouted IP addresses to gamble. Even when the casinos block these users they keep attempting to cheat both their country's law and the casino.

Also, many countries have official gambling age but their citizens also violate this age standard.
All these abnormal ways of gambling promote gambling abuse and possible addiction which further makes gambling a societal menace.

Instead of outrightly banning gambling, how about if the concerned countries officially include gambling education in their academic syllabus, just like sex education is taught in schools. Gambling education will teach the young ones the dangers of gambling and promote moderation in gambling. Will this not be a better way to handle the gambling cases?

I have said that many times already, instead of educating people about gambling, investing, importance of spending on the things they need why not just educate themselves about money in the first place which is the root cause of all the other thousand problems we can address today.

People who don't have any idea about the significance of money management is the key to financial independency are the ones who spend money on things they actually don't need so instead of addressing every problem just create awareness about money and let them handle how they want to spend their hard-earned money. Guess what governments won't do that cause if they do then people will be asking questions whenever the print money out of thin air which they never want to take the risk.
786  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | VIP | Instant withdrawals!|ARGENTINA & AVFC on: October 06, 2023, 06:42:25 PM
I’m just trying to convey that team can request KYC no matter how shit reason they have because the terms and conditions of their casino states it!
And this is exactly the issue here. They should specify why it's taking so long for his KYC to get processed in order to clear up all confusion instead of providing vague replies and hiding behind their TOS.

Duelbits clearly need to improve in this particular aspect if you ask me.

I don't know what you guys are exactly debating about but as far as I am concerned the specific case was resolved because the user himself stated that he able to withdraw the funds.

Hi all. I was withdrawn my funds exactly a week later. And there was no answer from them

And didn't show up here after that.
787  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Provable fairness should be mandated by law! ONLY gamble in provably fair casino on: October 06, 2023, 06:25:35 PM
So you think that "probably fair" casinos should be trusted? Good for you.
I think that ANY technology can be manipulated in someone's favor(in this case, in favor of the casinos).
I also think that making "probably fair" games mandatory by the law won't change anything.
Let's imagine that a casino has perfectly fair games, that aren't rigged. Will this stop the casino from blocking the account of some gambler, who is constantly winning? Will this stop the casino from refusing withdrawals and banning gamblers, who are considered to be "fraudsters" by the casino. Of course not. Making probable fairness mandatory won't stop the shady casinos from scamming their players.
Provably fair means nothing but the results for a game are actually random which ensures that you are not getting robbed and most casinos allow the users to ensure the results are not previously determined or in short not rigged.

We already have multiple guides about checking the fairness of results on a casino and here is one,

Do you verify every bet as a gambler? Provably Fair Guide.

So we don't need to trust anyone anymore, we can analyze it on our own and if a casino doesn't have that feature then better avoid trusting them with our money.

I guess this is only about the fairness of the game and blocking or freezing users' money with no actual reason or such things are different and if that is a common practice in a casino then they won't be in the business too long.
788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How can I retrieve private keys from a phone with faulty panel. on: October 06, 2023, 04:04:23 PM
.
.
The amount in the wallet can get me new good phone, $235 means a lot to me but what do I do if it can't be undone.

Then don't try anything further, the cost of retrieving the data will at least 5x times of what you are talking about, which may differs based on your location still no one is going to pull the data from a dead phone for that much low cost unless you know someone who can do it for free of cost.
789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How can I retrieve private keys from a phone with faulty panel. on: October 06, 2023, 03:37:39 PM
I do not know if you will be able to isolate it like how it is in a computer and be able to transfer the data stored.

Motherboard.
Recent-era smartphones which are using eMMC or UFS flash storage chips that are directly soldered onto the mainboard itself so it's possible to retrieve the data stored in the device with the help of an expert but OP said old smartphone so am not sure how old it is and assuming if it is a device with the open back panel then it will get slightly complicated still it's possible as far as I know.

Before that, I suggest OP check the wallet balance and only proceed further if the wallet contains a considerable amount or just let it sleep there forever cause the data recovery will cost you at least $1000 if I am not wrong.
790  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: bc.game not honouring deposit bonus on: October 06, 2023, 08:57:37 AM
hello all,

just checked this morning and the bonus part 'get extra 100% bonus on minimum of 0.456LTC deposit' is no longer present on the deposit page.
evidently someone has seen the flaw in having it there after the first deposit and it has been removed.

i have not heard from any bc.game staff, so im guessing someone saw that it might actually be a legitimate conflict of interest.

james
I checked their ANN but there is nobody addressed the issue you are talking while scrolling I found another user claiming that the casino took $50K from the balance and also removed the bets from the history tab which is kind of scary and I guess it now time to open scam accusation against them.

And let's see what their response will be, but if they care about the reputation and claim that it actually appeared as a mistake then they will surely compensate with something at least half of the amount and accept the mistake happened.

If not then their reputation is at stake here.
791  Other / Off-topic / Re: I Used Cracked Windows 10 Activated on: October 06, 2023, 07:13:20 AM
You will never know what is modified in the cracked version of your Windows and as said nobody is giving you the software for free, they always need something from you and that is why cracked and modded software are available for free.

Apart from that private version will not receive security updates which puts you at further security risks if there is some kind of malware and it needs to be patched via the security update.

So what you can do is make your cracked PC safer, my suggestion is gonna be different from what others suggested but it will work for you.

You can install a Virtual machine software like Oracle and then install Linux in it which is open source and free of cost.

And what you can achieve by doing this:

It's like running another device inside your Windows machine so anything installed inside the VM will not be affected by the malware of Windows such as your Bitcoin wallet, which you can also use to store sensitive information and it will be completely prone to malware which attacks windows.

It is more convenient for someone who is being a Windows user and can't afford two machines.
792  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is a 20% Annual Return good ? on: October 05, 2023, 07:01:01 PM
I want to ask you, 20% is a good rate but if it is a figure you get from back-testing (even one year backwards), it does not guarantee you will get a same APY when you are in actual trading with the strategy moving forwards.

I conducted the backtest from 2018 to the present date in 2023, and on a monthly basis, it has consistently yielded returns ranging from 0.8% to 3%. Currently, I am actively testing it on a real account since September 15th.

The way my strategy works is by averaging purchase prices. I buy when volatility is high, making it less likely to fail, all supported by the backtest. Of course, in real trading, anything can happen.

It is a pretty good achievement to be honest and I suggest you go ahead with the same strategy for long-term trading so that 20% annual returns along with the compounding effect will produce great ROI in the next few years.

20% seems very low compared to the volatile nature of crypto assets and I won't be surprised if many others say it's not enough but from an investor perspective this is something too good and if you manage to hit that value for the next few years then your capital will be doubled. But as I always recommend just go with a maximum of 30% as capital for your trading from your total crypto portfolio value and anything beyond is a huge leap towards risk.
793  Other / Meta / Re: harizen - ban appeal on: October 05, 2023, 05:31:56 PM
Perhaps some cybercriminals were able to extract your Bitcointalk session cookies and sell them on a darknet marketplace while you were away (this can be mitigated by logging out and back in again).
.
.

Cookie stealers mostly concentrate on Google accounts, especially YouTube but this may be the first time in my knowledge if that is the actual reason for this compromise.

In the recent past, a few accounts were compromised in the same way but they just used to take loans via bitcointalk and let the owners pay it back so possibly the same group targeted the bitcointalk accounts again with much more severe like spreading malware and possibly to attack more users whoever by clicking the link.

So I wonder if this is going to be a big issue if this happens to other accounts too.

Apart from using strong passwords, we don't really have any mechanism to fight against this so probably this can be the reason to implement 2FA on bitcointalk.
794  Economy / Gambling / Re: make some developments related gambling on: October 05, 2023, 04:22:24 PM
snip~
Not quite sure abou what you mean on most casinos being not optimized on mobile devices. So far, I've visited tons of casino especially those that have introduced here and most of them are quite adaptive and capable on mobile devices whether it's android or apple devices.
.
.
.
Apart from additional games and bet flexibility, I don't think much could be updated with the current development that modern gambling have.
I tried some casinos which just being same version of their website even on a smaller screen that is what I am talking about but yes the upcoming casinos might adapt it while still not all that is why I said it can be one of the suggestions when it comes to development.

There is always room for development and that is what evolution taught us. Anyone who wants to stay in the business needs to keep updating themselves to new generation technology, games, user experience and a lot more which will keep the users stay on their platform it is very important nowadays cause you can witness the competition on the crypto casino market is getting wild over the years compared to 2017 market run.
795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Changed the game you gamble on? share your story. on: October 05, 2023, 09:04:24 AM
I started playing with dice game for most of the time then over the years more casinos came up with thousands of options to explore so I moved to different games just to explore not that I was fed up with the results of dice and tried to make up on other games.

Apart from dice, I love the Plinko cause it kind of amazes me all the time while waiting for the ball to drop to fall at the right spot that is my story which may not be really interesting but it's true, and also shows that I am being responsible with my gambling habits throughout the years. Wink
796  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pillow Fight League on: October 04, 2023, 08:30:29 PM
What are your thoughts on this new sport, Do you think we might see it in sportsbooks anytime soon?

A championship for the pillow fight. Roll Eyes

But after some digging, it's not actually the Pillow fight you did in your childhood, it's an actual MMA fight under the brand of PFC but it seems UFC is already bringing their lawsuit against the PFC organizers for the resemblance of the world-famous UFC logo and colors used.

UFC launch legal action against the Pillow Fight Championship
797  Economy / Gambling / Re: make some developments related gambling on: October 04, 2023, 07:03:18 PM
i would give some suggestion to make developments related  gambling up to that time

Online Gambling Online gambling continued to grow in popularity, with a wide range of casino games, sports betting, poker, and other forms of gambling available on the internet. .

Also Mobile gambling apps and websites became increasingly prevalent, allowing users to place bets and play casino games on their smartphones and tablets. The convenience of mobile gambling contributed to its expansion
countries make some positive work in this process to regulating online gambling to ensure consumer protection and generate tax revenue

Most casinos don't even optimize their website for mobile devices.

Also, I am yet to know if any casino has a dedicated app for betting but in the future, there might be a lot of them cause its inevitable that smartphones are going to be the future of everything.

But what are your suggestions, cause I don't really see any in the first post of this thread but you started off with you would give some suggestions.
798  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: THEYA - new mobile multisig wallet on: October 04, 2023, 05:33:20 PM
I think this will work like Mixin safe? Because of this:

Full Control
With Theya multi-sig, you hold 2 of the 3 keys and have complete control over your wallet. Nobody can deny you access to your Bitcoin, not even Theya.
But the same company also admitted that they lost over 200 million worth of user's crypto assets. One more reason not to trust self-custodian wallets.

I am an Android user. Also I can not bother because I can use Multisig wallet on wallets like Electrum and Sparrow which gives me the full control.

I think we can compare this wallet with Nunchuk wallet, cause it seems lot of similarities in both but still Nunchuk has the better edge since its available on both Android and IOS.

As you said I don't know why people still go with custodial services when we have the option to go completely trustless for zero fees via electrum. Or still people feel maintaining the recovery seeds is overwhelming as these platforms claim?
799  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bunny Loader: Another Clipboard malware on: October 04, 2023, 02:52:58 PM
Installing the latest antivirus software is a poor advice and may be provided by some technical articles, but antiviruses update their database periodically, which means that there may be viruses that are not present in the database, which gives high probability false positive reports.

Using hardware wallets or open source wallets will not change anything here, but rather:

 - Do not install applications that you do not trust.
 - Check the title completely, or at least the first and last 8 characters.
 - Make sure everything is correct before broadcasting the transaction.

I do agree that anti-virus is not going to detect every malware, especially the newly created ones but for a layman there is no better tool than anti-virus to tackle their cyber security, at least it will be able to detect the known malware.

To protect our crypto assets we can be careful to some extent but these kinds of apps are getting more advanced and I read it is capable of even remote commands so once a system is affected there is a possibility of losing our crypto funds even without any action from our side.

Cybersecurity is the biggest concern of the 21st century, but most people still use Windows, which is at least security-resistant when it comes to avoiding attacks. So, the first thing we should do is install Linux because it offers enhanced security features and greater control over system vulnerabilities, making it a prudent choice for those looking to bolster their online defenses.
800  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bunny Loader: Another Clipboard malware on: October 04, 2023, 08:27:13 AM
The article doesn't seem to indicate how the malware is spreading, but the threat library provides entries that reference the initial access being made (or perhaps, likely made) through either a spearphishing attachment or a spearphishing link, some of the most common forms for spreading malware.

Bunny loader is basically a trojan that is highly rated for its potential to cause damage to victims based on its nature which is capable of extracting almost everything from your device from keystrokes, browser history, auto-fill details, cookies, and also with the ability to replace the data like wallet addresses.

As you said it mostly affects the system via emails pretending to be one of the services they are already using or random downloads from unknown websites. But it seems highly undetectable as per many cyber security experts and can stay unnoticed forever so the best possible solution is to stay away from downloading it in the first place.

Here is an article that explains how can we manually remove the Bunny loader - MaaS

How to remove BunnyLoader from the operating system
