..
2. It doesn't matter how many coins are lost. Infinite divisibility. ...
People seem to have such a hard time understanding this. Perhaps it is because you cant cut a penny into 10,000 pieces and call each piece a dollar. Which you could do with a bitcoin.

Now the early adoption phase is over.

To grandchildren: Back in my day you got 50btc per block.
Grandchildren: Grandpa, is it true you own a whole bitcoin!  Shocked
7824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halving Day Traditions on: November 28, 2012, 02:54:19 PM
I think a good tradition would be to cut something in half. Even if it's just a bad habit.

Happy halving day everyone!  Grin
I like this one. Cut something in half and post a pic/vid of it.
7825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy halving day on: November 28, 2012, 02:52:05 PM
I am more excited about this than is warranted.   Smiley

LOL
What's the ROI on a rifle?
To be profitable you need one of BFL's new ASIC shotguns.

Love is the highest form of energy, it's all you need.

If love is all you need, then why are you trying to sell shit and invest in BTC?
I would sell you some love. Send me some BTC to the addy in my sig and I will love it. The more you send the more I will love you. True story.
7828  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: First bitcoin to be delivered by pigeon ? on: November 27, 2012, 08:59:25 PM
the future of bitcoin mining!  Grin

The message (private key) could be encrypted while in transit, so even killing the messenger would not yield any profit, thus hunting pigeons for bitcoins would be futile.
Ah, that's a good idea. It would also keep you from loosing some coins that go unclaimed. I assumed you were thinking of a paper wallet or something.

The only one of those I know is love  ( ). Many words are written without Kanji. They also use Katakana and Hiragana.  Keep your money. I did it for  愛 .

7831  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin Machine! Free bitcoins! on: November 27, 2012, 08:44:24 PM
No offense, bitcoin faucet gave away BTC and was a huge success. But your plan starts with you receiving free bitcoins. It seems like an accounting nightmare to verify that you are giving away coins and not just collecting coins.

Hell yeah, I got them to go bitcoin!

I have been bombing intrade with emails about bitcoin. The loss of US customers was a shock to them and now they are thinking outside the box. This is what I just received from them:

Hello Richard,
While we still have concerns over BitCoin, it will be included in our review of new funding options (due to be conducted in January).

I call any bounty. lol
Perhaps a mod could move this to the bitcoin discussions section. It is now specifically bitcoin related.

I received an email last night from Intrade. Intrade is a prediction market.  Participants buy and sell contracts that attempt to predict future events such as wars, elections, and other major events. The email stated that all US users must cash out their accounts and that no new US accounts can be created. They sighted regulatory pressure as their reason.
It was fun while it lasted. If you read the news carefully you can make money at it. Anyone else bummed out?

EDIT: Wait, it ain't over yet. Read my next post in this thread.

I just sent him the question. Maybe he will say one way or the other?
7840  Other / Off-topic / Re: Looking to buy this breitling, can anyone tell if it's fake? on: November 20, 2012, 06:01:20 PM
I know a classic way to spot a fake Rolex was to look at the second hand. Real ones keep the second hand in constant smooth motion, while fakes ticked their way around. Not sure if that works here?
