You have been doing this for a whole month now and still have 97% of your dollars? Impressive. Especially considering that you started out when the clear bull market was over/paused.

I'm telling you, that coin is unnatural Shocked
It's a trick! rebuilder is using a magic coin!
If you end up being profitable I suggest you auction off the coin after your experiment.

I think the first photo is photoshoped Smiley
By god, he's right! Oh, and hi new peer.
8603  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoins mentioned on BBC on: February 03, 2012, 07:56:06 PM
Oooo, the dark net. That must be bad? Roll Eyes
8604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CIA "paying spooks" with bitcoin on: February 03, 2012, 07:51:22 PM
Sorry but the evidence that this is true is the same as the evidence that dinosaurs are using bitcoin to stage a comeback.
8605  Economy / Speculation / Re: Silk Road sale.... BTC explosion. on: February 03, 2012, 07:46:32 PM
... Silk Road has one of the largest (if not the largest) BTC market. ...

I can't imagine that being true.
Like the overwhelming majority of bitcoin peers I have met, I would not even consider using SR.
They are a drop in the bucket. Of course neither you nor I would know how much business they traffic.
8606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This will change Bitcoin as you know it. on: February 03, 2012, 07:38:33 PM
Is this out yet? I checked my local B&N and they did not carry it. So I complained and demanded they start.  Grin
lol... So B&N has already agreed to carry it, the magazine isn't out, and you complained to them and demanded they start carrying it.

Stay classy, Bitcoin.  Tongue

I think I've already mentioned the timeline we're dealing with, but if there is any confusion--- distribution takes months, not weeks. Don't expect Bitcoin Magazine in your local stores before April unless you put it there yourselves.  Cheesy
I should have read more carefully.  I will start complaining as soon as it's out then. Grin
8607  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: US government super computer made from 2000 ps3 systems. 500 TeraFLOPS o.O on: February 03, 2012, 04:09:32 PM
Governments are welcome and encouraged to make some money on the bitcoin network. Who will be the first?
If governments controlled the majority of hashing power, does Bitcoin become a fiat currency?
No more than Fort Knox has made gold a fiat currency. You will still own your bitcoins, not the fed. Governments are welcome to become peers like you and I.

Oh no, not again, Roll Eyes
The BBC covers the boogie man that is the mythical "Dark Net".

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-16801382

quote:
An extra layer of secrecy is added to the dark web by the use of Bitcoins - an electronic currency which is used legitimately by online gamers, but which can be used by criminals to mask their financial transactions.
8610  Other / Off-topic / Re: What kind of laptop should I get? on: January 31, 2012, 02:59:51 PM
I would suggest going used. I always buy used laptops then install Ubuntu and never look back. In the last 5 years I have spent $175 on laptops ($35/year). When they die, I just get another one and with Ubuntu 1 all my files are restored.
Not as high as the specs you mentioned, but I like IBM thinkpads.
8611  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do i Recieve bitcoin? on: January 29, 2012, 02:01:53 AM
To use bitcoin I advise you download/install the client software. Then while your waiting for the blockchain to download you come back to these forums and read about WTF a blockchain is, and other stuff worth knowing. Then you will see that a transaction like the one your describing is as easy as providing a string of letters and numbers.
...and welcome bitcoin peer.   Smiley

8613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What interests you? on: January 27, 2012, 08:07:33 PM
Man, my interests are all over the map. This week I'm obsessing over the Ebu-Gogo (Homo floresiensis).

8615  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Lost Coins on: January 27, 2012, 08:02:05 PM
I like to think of it as mars dust. Lets say I have the entire 200 gram supply of  mars dust. If i drop a few grams in the ocean, it raises the value of my remaining dust.
There may come a day when people say "You own a whole Bitcoin?"  Shocked
8616  Economy / Speculation / Re: KNIFE IMMINENT on: January 27, 2012, 05:43:30 PM
If charts work, then why do people lose money in the stock market?  Are they just not looking at the charts?
Maybe a contest is in order. People could present their theroies and each could fund a wallet with 1BTC. Trading with their respective systems we could see who profits the most after 3 months.
8617  Economy / Speculation / Re: CRASH!!!!!!!!! on: January 25, 2012, 09:23:12 PM
OMG. Well, it's going to $.01. I know this because a guy told me. I'm such a nice dude that I will buy as many BTC as you have for $.05 / BTC. That's .04 above final market price!!!
Just PM me and we can hook it up.
8618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This will change Bitcoin as you know it. on: January 25, 2012, 04:32:14 PM
Sweeeeet! I could order one, but I'm waiting until they hit the shelves at B&N. That way I can buy it and say; "It's about time you started carrying bitcoin magazine.   Roll Eyes

Hope they don't notice the issue #.
