No, WTF do I care who you want to love?

I was just kidding. In reality perhaps she should be charged with reckless endangerment for taking a blind shot?

Sometimes I have troubles understanding other peers, who's side you're on?

The guy was already trespassing a private property, and the girl knew there wasn't any other family member in the house. She used her other senses to decide when to pull the trigger like her hearing for example, which I assume you don't have after seeing such comments.
I try to look at each case individually. In this case it's important that she is a minor, so she should not be held to grown-up rules. But if she were an adult she might be in trouble for bind shooting an intruder. It is certainly not good form. I have little sympathy for the fool who broke in, but one should be damn sure of what they are doing if they going to solve their problems with a gun.

Good girl.
Well, she did miss his heart.  lol

It is hard to hit such a small target through a closed door. What she was trying to do was to get him to leave her alone, that seems to have worked out according to her plan. I am sure if the assailant had continued opening the door even after being shot at, then she would have had a clearer shot to finish him off.

I think a system of anarchy would be overthrown by any type of organization, a king, a militia, anything.

If you knew anything about the nervous system like I do you'd know where, in martial arts you get taught where the most vital points of a body are so you can avoid killing them by accident, as for guns well, of course the person is going to bleed to death anyway if you just leave them there, but you can't be that much of an asshole you'd just leave them to die right?

Having self-defense laws that make sense would mean you wouldn't have to waste as much money on a police and military while providing a lot of clarity for the people who are kept so it would drastically reduce the amount of money involved in law.

Did you attack this person? Yes? Then you're going to jail, it's that simple.
I spent 7 years studying martial arts 3 times a week. What I learned is that no one is a super hero. Fighting is risky stuff. So I would not use my martial arts training if I have my gun.
I learned to shoot from my Dad, who learned it in the FBI. I do know what to do if attacked. If during the attack my life is in danger then the attacker will die before he/she ever see the gun. Even if your law were in effect I would do this. I would rather live in jail than be dead.
7927  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama or Romney ? on: November 01, 2012, 06:00:09 PM
4. Make one self-defense law stating "If you are attacked then you have a right to defend yourself as long as you do not kill the attacker or attackers"

Where should I shoot them then?

Rodeo, what sling mount did you use where your sling attaches there by the stock?  I have a standard buttstock (the "regular" one) but I want some sort of sling adapter that fits where yours does (so I can get the single-point sling).  What would you recommend to buy that could be used in that manner?  I don't yet have the funds to buy a tactical buttstock.  I'm not opposed to putting in a sling adapter up on the barrel (attached to a rail - and then just use a regular sling), and I'm still trying to debate those options, too.

I liked that attachment as well. It is part f that UBR buttstock. Basically they have replaced a bolt with a quick detach swivel. It can also be mounted on the other side for left handed shooting. Because it is part of the stock there is no such place to mount it on a standard stock. However you could buy an aftermarket end plate sling attachment like the those in the link below.
http://www.brownells.com/items/ar15-sling-mounts.aspx

Frankly what I wanted was something more like this one. But not this ugly thing.
http://www.tactical-life.com/online/products/stark-equipment-se-2-sling-pistol-grip-for-ar-15/

I like the center attachment that one offers. I shoot left and right handed and the swivel I have now does not transition well to weak side shooting. Hope that helps? I am not an AR guru, but I did try to do my homework before buying.

My guess is that the risk of charge-backs is so high that insurance would not be available.

7931  Bitcoin / Project Development / $59K prize for developing Forex trading apps - Bitcoin opportunity? on: October 24, 2012, 07:22:13 PM
I do not have the Kung-Fu skilz to do this, but a motivated programmer might be able to develop a Forex trading system using BTC. An app that uses such a system could be a strong competitor in the ChallengePost contest found via the link below.

What do you think? Possible?  Huh

I would add that if you solo mine you will likely not solve a block, however you do strengthen the network. Just leaving the client on without mining is also strengthening the network.

I tried it with an old junk PC and a fish tank. It did work and was the quietest computer I ever had. Servicing it, however,  was as ugly as you would think.

Great choice!

It's this you are talking about right?:

Please PM your budget so I know how many to source.
I tried those when I was in Kyoto just for the novelty, but they are actually good!

That's cool. Thanks for posting. It looks like it has caught on in countries where one can heat there home while mining.  Grin

I knew you guys would have some funny responses.  Cheesy

So, medical training is the #1 answer so far (among my limited options). That is a logical choice. In a really large scale event there will be a need for such skills that is well beyond the supply. This is also consistent with what others who are involved in this push have found. Medical training and "shelter in place" training are most requested. It must be the wisdom of the crowd effect, because those are the two the experts would pick. I will only be doing these in my jurisdiction of Dane county Wisconsin. If you want to find out where to attend such classes in your area, good luck. lol, no. It can be hard to find the resources. A few good places to start are...

www.ready.gov/   - a fed website that can direct you to a local resource. It is also a good place to find out about big event simulations like the "shakeout" on Oct.18.

www.coadwi.org/ - There are COAD chapters across the USA. This is the Wisconsin one. You may have to google a bit to find the one in your state. For someone with no particular disaster skills but who wants to help, this can be a good place to volunteer.

www.citizencorps.gov/cert/ - If you want to up your game and get bloody, perhaps a CERT team is what you want.

www.medicalreservecorps.gov/ - Are you a medical professional? You will be greatly needed in a mass emergency. Get involved here!

www.wi1dmat.org/
  - Alpha dogs who can bring there A game might consider joining a DMAT team. These are by state so you may need to google. Here is Wisconsin's DMAT website. You will need to have medical / disaster qualifications and be able to be deployed anywhere in the world for risky operations.
Let me know if you have trouble finding local resources. Or want specialized training such as counter terrorism, financial resilience in disasters for business, animal sheltering in disasters, ... many others.

P.S. Piggy made a full recovery and is now outfitted with a alloy/ composite prosthetic foot.

What is the most "Japanese" thing you can offer?
A proper bow.  Tongue

I'll go back to my cave now.
7938  Other / Off-topic / Are there any prepers here who want training? on: October 13, 2012, 04:18:35 PM
I am training this weekend with the medical reserve corps i'm part of. There is a big push right now to bring training in personal preparedness to a general audience. I'm going to be developing and presenting some of these workshops and establishing resource lists. One untapped well of resources are the prepers that now are a thing. Unlike the "survivalists" of a couple of decades ago, these people tend to be a bit more realistic and useful.

So are you a preper? If so (or not) what sort of free training would you attend?

Here is what i'm doing today.  Giving sutures to a poor piggy.
7939  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what do i do with my 0.01 btc? on: October 10, 2012, 07:38:05 PM
So that's like $0.12. Not a lot one can do these days with a dime. Still, you could give it away as a tip, or donate it somewhere.
7940  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Running the client 24/7? on: October 10, 2012, 07:18:17 PM
I would say...
* Helping the network = yes
* Hurting the network = no
* Wasting my CPU cycles? = No, if you are an altruist. Yes if you are not.
