Could you describe what this combination of gadgets provides?
Yes, is this able to spend coins? Does it have an operating system? I don't get it. Embarrassed

Just a reminder that the price of bitcoin is irrelevant if you are using them instead of hoarding them.

Ah yes. Bitcoins weekly "death".

I like the idea of building tournament ladders using bitcoin. That could be implemented in any game. Like the starcraft example from page 1.

Skeptical I am.

Yes. You should be able to scan that with OCR. Right?

P.S. I love my BMW.
8849  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the Blockchain? on: October 16, 2011, 09:37:58 PM
Because there is no central authority or server for bitcoin, each client is a peer node on the network and maintains a record of all transactions. The blockchain is that record. (It gets more complicated, but this is an important function of the chain.)
8850  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Let me tell you about my first experience with the BitCoind app on: October 16, 2011, 09:32:48 PM
The client is bitcoin and the daemon is bitcoind. When you start the client you will see a GUI, and it will run you HDD like hell while it downloads the entire blockchain. Once caught-up it will calm down.  Each time you start the client after that it will only need to download the blocks created since it was last running.

Welcome peer  Smiley

Your wallet.dat file is like a wallet. You can store it on a flashdrive and drop it into any installation of the client on any computer. Note that it may take awhile to update the blockchain when you first start the client. And that client version 0.4.0 and later will encrypt you wallet and render it unusable on earlier versions.

You can mention that if they set up a donation address, you know a guy that will donate the first coin.  Kiss
8853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Occupy Wall Street General Assembly Money Bomb! on: October 16, 2011, 09:08:46 PM
The best way for the GA to use bitcoins is to spend them. Hopefully they also received a list of sellers who accept bitcoin. It would be dumb for them to try converting them into dollars, they should just order what they need online and use the coins as they were designed.
8854  Economy / Speculation / Re: Everyone looks onto melting buywall on: October 16, 2011, 08:53:22 PM
We need more bitcoiners with investment money sticking their fingers in the leaking dyke.

No, we don't.
I have to agree. If bitcoin needed our help to work, then it wouldn't work at all.
8855  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why We Can't Let Go of Our Losers on: October 16, 2011, 08:50:11 PM
Interesting read. I know that a lot of successful investors are well aware of how to use market psychology to gain an edge over smart people who can't quite look at themselves without bias.
8856  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Silk Road was the best thing that has ever happened to Bitcoins. on: October 14, 2011, 08:28:30 PM
Silk road is nothing more than a distraction. I use bitcoin all the time, but would not even consider using their service.

+1... I use bitcoin almost daily. I work with several people in different countries and being able to pay them and get paid with bitcoin instantly has been a godsend. Best innovation for global trade since the internet.
Amen brother. I bought a $1 PDF file from a guy in China. Try doing that with..., well, anything.
8857  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to buy my first bitcoins! on: October 14, 2011, 08:18:53 PM
What about arranging a face-to-face sale? You can meet at a wifi hotspot (McDonald's, coffee shop). Just bring some cash and a laptop. Super easy. Here is a link to one of the services that facilitates such meetings.

I think there is some kind of 3d gambling game that uses bitcoin. "Dragons tale" or something?
