A pretty interesting article from Coinswitch on 05 january :

"Ethereum Hard Fork Jan'19 | Know Everything About 3 Upcoming ETH Hard Forks"

https://coinswitch.co/news/ethereum-hard-fork-jan-19-know-everything-about-3-upcoming-eth-hard-forks

I couldn't make it past the first sentence. Obviously amateur journalism Sad
"Ethereum couldn’t take its demotion over Ripple and recently, Ethereum gained back its second position and is working towards retaining the position forever or longer."

What we have seen in past POS leads to more centralization because to mint/stake tokens you need more and more tokens for bigger piece of pie. Many addresses don't even qualify for staking because of their weight which stays lighter than network. In case of Ethereum how these basic rules will change or what solutions will be introduced will remain to see. In market ETH looks in good mood to lead the market just like 2017.

The exact same argument stands for PoW though: it can lead to centralization because to maintain profitable conditions, you need to constantly upgrade HW for "bigger piece of pie". BTC is really the shining example here...
The main change Ethereum's PoS protocol will introduce is mitigations to outstanding attack vectors current PoS implementations have.

Too many people that don't even follow dev calls, standups, or even notes all still think/expect Vitalik is doing it all or will be.
Muggles need to realize how many different teams are now working on several implementations of various portions of code to aid in scalability. And they've been doing so the entire year, some of them much longer.

And what you want to say? That this is not possible to increase TPS? Why than other projects have testnet and even mainnet with more TPS than Ethereum now? And they have less money for development.
Vitalik was announced hardfork for November this year, but than announced another date (14-15 January next year. And thi is just only one month left, so Constantinople almost ready I think  Roll Eyes

No no, absolutely not! TPS will certainly be increased...that's the whole point of "scalability".

I just see a lot of newbie accounts calling out "I hope Vitalik does xyz to make Ethereum better"....but Vitalik himself is trying to position himself out of such a role, such that he doesn't work like a check point or even a gate for development and improvements. Obviously, a lot of current scalability plans and strategies are ideas that came from V, but more and more so, those that follow the github repos and the dev teams are seeing he's moving out of focus. Development and improvements in general do not (and should not) depend solely on the V man.

Now it is more than 10 days when ETH fall under $100 and it becoming psychological barrier in current situation some people were expecting it break this barrier soon. When it will happen it will take back it's position from XRP so it is time to accumulate.
Ethereum must have a cost of at least $150 per coin in order to get ahead of Ripple in capitalization. Perhaps this will happen.

This is not a huge price for Ethereum while ATH was around 1400$ last winter. When we will have new bull market and people will be investing in ICOs again than we can see even new ATH for ETH. And may be with improwed tools in January some real business will be interesting to use Ethereum as well  Roll Eyes

There will be no more ICO in 2019 because the government starting to regulate every start up or ICO. it is more like STO instead of ICO.
and if it moves exactly the same as I predicted before, I believe ETH's price will start to plunge again unless they are making those crazy developments.
we have been hearing those things for a couple years, but have yet to see it until now.

It does not have much different, ICO or STO. If people will buy Ethereum for investing in new projects (STO), than price will be grow definitely.  And  nowdays some projects have more TPS than Ethereum already. Vitalik have a lot of money and skills, so if they planned to improve ETH than he will did for sure I think

When DCR releases Privacy it will be the first Privacy coin with stakeholder-voted updates and stake rewards AND Lightning Network

is there an estimated date for that already?

what about the shared tickets, folks?
any news on that?
would love to put my DCR to stake though not rich enough to buy a ticket by myself atm...

Split (shared) tickets are here! Or at least, 1 pool supports it already:

Ethereum is a worthless ponzi for third world degenerates and other garbage people to engage in scams and fraud.

It should be clear from the last 4 posters just what ethereum is and who is involved in its scams, ponzis and  fake promotion. When you look at this thread it didn't get a visit for 5 hours then at 1:48 its gets the usual scammer, followed by a near repeat from him at 1:55 then at 2:04 he quotes himself again to agree with himself that it's not a scam. As the third world wakes up, the price of ethereum is said to be going up. That is sadly the entire eth eco system, fakes and promotion and non working dapps.

lol! Trying to tie value of an entire blockchain to forum posts in BTCtalk. Super noob status  Roll Eyes

I just realized that Etherum doesn't have a total supply, it's like Dogecoin. Whether because of this factor that has made prices of ETH on the market difficult to grow? Other than that, even though their technology has been applied in many ICO projects, but it does not seem to have a positive impact on ETH prices.
price cannot grow because we are in a bear market, i feel like this bear market will last forever. one more reason is the development or eth blockchain is slow now, there are better and faster blockchains, lots of competition. dyor and invest in better projects.
The price of cryptocurrencies will no longer rise as much as at the beginning of this year. The current downward market situation has frightened and deprived so many people of money. Trust in cryptocurrency is very low now.

This is only 1 view, and it's the muggle's view. Those that are into it more than just financially, e.g. writing code and building shit, have seen lots of advances in crypto this year.

Trust isn't low in crypto, it's low in the market.

lol yes, everyone should do this!
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: December 04, 2018, 06:58:19 AM
This is final mega shake out phase to be explained as tree shaking with full force to short as many people as possible. This won't be last but those will be after shocks timely. When I look around at development in external world talks of people here looks like they don't understand these markets or they are doing with intention negative comments. Ethereum's future and custody services along with Bitcoin as being discussed and planned while some people are declaring it done already.
After such a mega shake-up there should be a mega pump! I would never believe that Ether and Bitcoin will fall to lower positions. But it is not known what time it will take to recover.

I read somewhere that the bitcoin will go as low as $1000 if that happens we can be sure that the entire crypto market will suffer badly.
what? that's bad news if Bitcoin will reach $ 1000 and then Ethereum increaslyng not there is a price it if Bitcoin fell as bad as that. if that happens maybe the crypto market will cry and at the moment we can see the market conditions now are very worrying. It looks like the news about Bitcoin will die soon will happen if the price of Bitcoin falls to $ 1000.

I'm sure somewhere is an accurate (and magical) prediction maker.  Roll Eyes

You shouldn't make a statement and ask the same question right after. It looks weak, usually people who write one or two words asking for proof in a forum don't know much. Proof is something you can find on your own by reading and studying, I'm not here to help the lazy or prepare you a report.

False. You have any proof?

I'm making an assertion while inviting you to counter it. Get over yourself.

Way to sidestep the whole thing though lol  Cheesy Cheesy

I know I've been picking on you a lot for being so inaccurate and full of shit but I just have to ask, what would POS add to ethereum at this point ? You keep ignoring that traffic has been thoroughly analyzed and is absolutely dead. There would be no use for POS besides adding another negative in a coin that needs a 99% correction.

we need clarity about the transition to PoS

False. You have any proof?
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: November 30, 2018, 07:30:50 PM
Ethereum is a fraud and a ponzi and there was no revolution. The so called revolution produced 99% fraud and non working projects and less than 1% of the projects even showed up, let alone produced anything useful.

The scammers posting for sig campaigns or promoters telling you to buy like aleslaslo with the simple talk are devoid of facts and reality and only post to tell a lie from time to time.

There is still 100% correction coming and I'm quite sure Vitalik is hoping for eth to hit single digits.

It is ETH who bring the revolution in this ecosystem why so many people are interested in this tech because of this platform. I hope it will get improve in coming days than it will become more promising.

All words no substance. lol it doesn't even fit the definition for ponzi.  Roll Eyes
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: November 28, 2018, 02:34:50 AM
That's pure nonsense stories.

The price comes from trading, and as many people know that's where the fraud is. They inflated a worthless digital token to $100 billion on future promises, which is exactly what you're doing now people like you ever do. As one set of selling points becomes obsolete you move on to the next one.

Eth is and always has been exactly like a PENNY STOCK... Traded on news and hype and scam traders going over crazy about worthless junk while downplaying, censoring or disinfoing anything negative.

That's the truth behind ethereum price, not the stupid ass dice rolling scams that people come up with.

This is true of every coin lol
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: November 27, 2018, 05:09:26 PM
Despite 95% + Losses some of you scammers still say it will recover, but recover to what. not one of you idiots can even elaborate or back up the things you say. What ever happened to aslev lava or whatever the guy was who drew the chart saying its going up ?

Get over it folks, ETH is nothing but scam and a ponzi for trading. That's it, it never had any real usage and the projects that came under it were either illegal or non working or in more recent cases they were nothing but a splash page for a ICO that disappeared as soon as the token sale was over.

lol talk about lack of elaboration and "backing".
"Oh no, the price has fallen a ton, must mean the tech is useless and the entire chain will die! In fact, it must be a scam!"

How many times has btc been declared dead? How many times for Eth? lol. Everyone with skin in the game should know by now crypto goes through peaks and valleys....like most assets.

GTFO you silly short-sighted noob.  Cheesy

POS will boost Ether to over 1000USD.

5% Reward is more than great for just holding Ether. This will be the future, near 0 electricity.
I only have one question: When? How many times have the developers promised us an update? Not so long ago came next, already sixth in a row. But while the other five are not fulfilled. Now we are waiting for the summer of 2018. I love Ethereum, but we need more action than promises.

ETH Devs are basically famous for missing deadlines.

Back when ETH launched in late 2015, it was said that POS would launch sometime in Summer of 2016. And because of their promise, I've never upgraded to more efficient GPUs, which at the time were the AMD Nano/Fury's. And basically kept waiting and waiting for POS updates and from what I can tell its still a long ways away.

Another issue is that who knows how it will work in practise to compared to how they have it analyzed in theory. I hope that POS works out but like others have said before, it will make ETH centralized because there will be a small percentage of individuals who owns most of the coins.

What the muggles don't realize is how complex these things are. The sharding spec is certainly non-trivial. It's why there are literally a dozen or so different teams working on various implementations.
PoS isn't like throwing up some website code. It's unbroken ground. Even giving the date of 2016 - 2 years is not much time.

Dont worry ethereum will go to the shitter soon just like all othe other worthless alts that are just copy, paste, and renamed from BTC. Idk why anyone invested in this shitcoin, you've all been duped by mr.copy and paste autism buterin

lol literally among the least of people and projects that mimic btc.
gtfo you silly btc maximalist.  Roll Eyes

How is that ether scaleability going for you? Silly eth sheep, one good attack on the eth network and say bye bye to it, and all the shit utility tokens to go with it

How's the dev community going for you in those "scaled" chains?
lol silly sheep indeed.

P2P PoW electronic cash that scales on chain=BCHSV

Ethereum= Shitcoin that wants to be electronic cash but never will be, can't scale, no miner profitability, no future. Ask Mr. Copy and Paste Buterin how the development for ether is going hahahahah

You clearly don't even know what Eth is...cuz it sure as shit isn't meant to be "electronic cash" (hint, it's called gas for a reason).
Go educate yourself before trying to fud. Maybe you'll at least make sense then.   Cheesy Cheesy
Let me break it down simply for the layman such as yourself, if bitcoin can do everything that ethereum can do as stated in the white paper, for cheaper, faster, and on a more secure network, then what is the point of ether? You got bamboozled by mr. copy and paste i wanna make a quick buck buterin. He's too busy dabbling with coke and hookers to give a shit about his dead coin

lol but it can't. In fact, it wasn't built to do so, especially at the protocol level. I'm a software engineer. I'm coming from a place of (relative) understanding of these repos.

I'm not making any big technical analysis claim, I'm just laughing at jokers here and saying if you must turn to the chart it is much easier to read it as going down. No matter how you look at it, those are 90% losses with lower lows and never any highs reaching the previous lows, so just laughing at how Mr MS Paint thinks you draw three circles in a chart and pass that off as price is increasing powerfully, while in reality it will be worthless in a few months at this rate.

There is something undeniable, there are more fakes in these threads than real commenters and they are all saying hold and what a great opportunity to buy more, so it's a further indicator what a rigged scam ethereum is. Keep holding it if you think there is something here.

Your argument is against technical analysis. No idea how you think you can predict nothing but downward movement, since as you said:
Quote
you can find any three going down or changing in any number of ways and say the same thing or the opposite

Figure out your argument and stick with it there bud Cheesy

You've got that part right for sure. It's why you can' take btctalk seriously. It is in no way a good metric for health of the chain nor community....as you said, it's mostly bots and noobs here.
