901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: September 16, 2016, 10:31:00 PM
ETHF has no future. ETHC does same job x10 cheaper.

How about EXP? They are even cheaper.

Why are ETHF fans so aggressive? Why don't they recognize the obvious?
Ether is a 'fuel' for smart contracts. Why don't buy same fuel x10 cheaper?

If you want to use ether as money (electronic cash) it is quite obvious it is inferior to bitcoin. Unclear money supply is a big issue for ethereum.
But if you want to use it as a fuel for your smart contracts it is quite obvious ETHC is the way to go!

It's quite simple actually.  If you were creating a dapp, which you expect will be a big hit and have (x, y, z) features and uses, what blockchain would you target?  The one with a minority, or the one with the majority?  Quite simply, Ethereum has known, dedicated devs and investors.  ETC is trying to do the same thing, but grown organically (and sometimes completely anonymously) from the ETC community.

To be blunt: Ethereum is going places, and it has the resources to do so.  ETC is a big fat question mark at best, and the market (and network) reflect this.  I wouldn't waste my time with ETC fuel, because compared to Eth fuel, it's going to have so little uses.  The majority agrees with this, whether the ETC community accepts it or not.

@haitch: thanks for your answer in detail! I will post this experience as instructive money Wink Btw, i cannot understand people cheating for a few bucks, but so are the people.

@IncludeBeer: http://forums.burst-team.us:4567/topic/1111/scam-burstvest

I recieved a payment on 04/09/2016, but as you can read there are some hints that is all the some user with different kind of assets. I will be happy if its not true, but "it stinks to the sky". The only thing that will proof that is to watch the continous of payments.

Yes we can wait to see if we get paid any dividends but the person who released the assets should speak up and defend himself if it's not true and so far no update from that person or any post so I'm starting to think that it might be a scam which is a shame because it can tarnish the community and we don't want that happening here because we have a great community and dev team. And also people have invested a lot of Burst into these assets.

Well I really hope he does.  I hold the most # of shares for that asset...

Great article discussing issues with real-world use cases with 100% immutable blockchains.  Just another reason I support Eth Cheesy

I am reading on the Asset Forum that the BurstVest-Asset from DDOS is a probable scam. Why did noone talking here talking about? I know vella invested "heavy" in this one. Is it verified or what are the reasons for calling this a scam? Buying some more just a few days ago. This fucking shit of scam disrupts cryptocurrency. Angry Angry

Seriously??? Fuck! So there's no way to sell shares? You're talking about the burst asset: 9942303089158877431

Ya, I invested a ton in that asset.  Do you have link to the thread on this? I want to learn more.

Edit:

Well, I just checked and I actually received a payment from the BurstVest account, a little over a week in advance.  Is this not the same asset?

Ok, thanks for the help!

When the price dipped to ~16 dcr for a ticket, I bought a number of them, but they aren't showing up as "live" tickets on dcrstats.  I'm wondering, maybe they weren't associated with the pool for some reason?  Is there a way to tell if I have tickets that aren't in pool's controls, so I know if I need to keep my wallet up for staking?  This is what stakeinfo gave me:
[...]
I left my wallet on to buy those cheap tickets, and I saw a number of tickets bought when I browsed through the cmd window the next morning when I looked, but I was expecting to see them show up on dcrstats as live tickets!

Edit:
Well, my balance is now up a couple hundred, so apparently I didn't actually buy any tickets, or if I did, there was some error and my account got refunded the price.  Do I need to import the redeem script given to me by dcrstats each time before I buy tickets?

When you're buying tickets, thinks work much the same way as with any other transaction, but with the extra nuance that each block allows at most, 20 new tickets to be bought/mined. Until your ticket purchase is mined, it's as if it never happened. If you were trying to buy during a period where ticket prices were quite low (as it was the case), then most likely, you just had your fees too low to get a good enough position in the queue. Folks with their ticket fees set higher, will have bought all the available slots during that price period, as miners will pick their ticket buys 1st.

When your tickets get mined (at least one confirmation), they'll move from ownmempooltix, into immature, and given enough confirmations, they finally move to live. If they don't get mined until the next ticket price swing, then the transaction is dropped from the mempool and your balance is returned (minor txfees).

There are cases where you might successfully buy tickets, yet they will not be showing up on the pool, notably, this will happen if you set your pool fees incorrectly (too low). In that case, the pool will not vote for you, unless the pool admin is notified and takes some manual intervention. In such instances however, you'd see your immature/live tickets going up, and your balance would only be returned after voting.

Cheers.

Hey thanks for the very excellent description and information.  I have such a better understanding of how tickets work now!  One last question then: (Grin)
1.) How can I view what my current fees are set at?
2.) How can I adjust the fee amount?
3.) Does the fee work like a threshold value or an exact value? (e.g. if current typical fee amount is 1, and I have my fee set to 5, will I pay 1 or 5 as the fee)

Thanks again for the help!

What is "allmempooltix" vs "ownmempooltix"?

All - mempool for everyone's tickets waiting to be mined/confirmed
Own - your own tickets on the mempool waiting to be mined/confirmed

With dcct's optimizer tool, is it possible generate the optimized plots in a specified location?  I generated my plots so they took nearly the entire drive, 2tb and 4tb plot files (well, ~1.8 & 3.6 tb to be more accurate).  Therefore, if I wanted to optimize, I would either need to replot so they're currentDriveSize / 2, or have a way to specify directory of optimized plot. Thanks for the help!

Any possibility to use the optimizer like this?

Yes, you can specify the output location of the optimized plot to be a different drive.

Thanks for the confirmation.  Can you tell me the usage to do that?  I've tried the following (and other similar variations) with no luck:

optimize E:/plots/4163282010088137402_0_7200000_50000 H:/plots/4163282010088137402_0_7200000_7200000

Bump! Can anyone tell me usage to have optimizer optimize plot to a specified directory?

Anyone know of bios mods (specifically power savers) for 390x?  I tried searching a bit online, but that was a lot like wading through shit. With ads.

Care to explain?

-[IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT]-   MOVE OFF POOLS RUNNING OLD WALLET VERSIONS! -DEVPOOL V2 IS ONE OF THESE

As stated above, it is very important that people DO NOT MINE ON POOLS RUNNING 1.2.3. This could potentially be causing some of the remaining network issues that we're seeing.

Please, if you're mining on dev pool V2, or any pools running 1.2.3, move off of them!

There are plenty of new pools out running the right versions.

http://pool.burstcoin.biz

http://pool.burstcoin.eu

http://pool.burstmining.club

are three acceptable options. Thanks!

Its been so damn long I forget how to switch pools. I am on Dev 2. What is the page and process again?

Dev pool v2 has since been updated and is running latest version.  I switched back to dev pool as it always seems to be the most stable.

Sorry guys, I tried to stay in, but price is plummeting too fast for me.  I'm getting out while I can more or less trade 1etc for 1dcr.  Not trying to fud, but I'm personally not sure how much longer ETC is going to be around...

Wow!  If this is for real I'm thinking about selling my 390x rig (165mh @ ~2000w) and buying 6x 480s!  I'm in CA and electricity is a bitch here.  Advice on brands?  So far it looks like MSI is a good choice?

I mean....I know that the difficulty going up means more ppl are mining, means better decentralization, etc.  But FUCK! Mining profits keep getting smaller and smaller!  Angry Cry

It just mean the mining will be concentrated into cheap electricity places like China. It happened to the btc mining.

No, I doubt that's the main cause.  POS is coming soon, at least, too soon to invest a giant mining operation into Eth.  More likely, it's a combination of difficulty bomb (by design), and more rigs being brought online/switched to Eth mining.

Hi Claymore!

At first - seems that it some built-in temp hysteresis parameter, what was set to 4 degr. At example on my rig, when tt limit set to 65 degr., and temp reach this value, fan begin work on 100%. And it continue working on 100%, till temp downs to 61 degr. It would be fine, if there were active option for temp hysteresis, which user can set manually for better configuration rigs.
And second: are you planning to add static interface, like cgminer or sgminer? When I looking on moving, from down to top, lines with different colours, I worry that I will get epileptic fit Grin. But seriously, moving lines is anachronism from standart ethminer. It's time to make normal static interface.

Static interface would be nice!!!

Honestly, I prefer the scrolling Cheesy

Do not you think gyus that people have lost their thrust over Ethereum. Thereby both ETC and ETH is suffering. Eth has less movement than before. Can any one say when the black cloud will fly away ? I was really in love with ETHEREUM

True but if there is going to be good dapps, they're going to be on ETC, espcially DNM, profitable dapps

While poor bitpop spreads fud, Ethereum makes real progress:
