801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Brazil to launch CBDC, Github repo found on: July 20, 2023, 01:08:02 AM
The headline explain why this community will hate CBDC very much,
Quote
The pilot project of Brazil's #CBDC #RealDigital allows the freezing of user wallets and reducing balances

On the threads on twitter also said that the Government are still considering whether the will keep the function of freezing account or not after the test period finish. But I think everyone know the answer, they will absolutely keep it, they need control over the accounts, otherwise they will make tools that allows for money laundering.
802  Economy / Economics / Re: AI, Robotics ETFs Are More Popular Than Crypto in 2023 - Bloomberg on: July 20, 2023, 12:58:25 AM
I don't think it's surprising, with the ChatGPT boom last year, everyone now want to be involved in AI. I also heard that all those supposedly crypto influencer turn into AI influencer in one night. There is one good thing tho, those crypto scammers will now turn their eyes to AI.

On a serious note, I think AI and Crypto can run side by side and support each other. Maybe developers could start using AI to make a better blockchain product that actually solve some real problems.
803  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Warning: sigft.com is a scam website that steals your crypto on: July 19, 2023, 12:48:32 PM
I see that you are a newbie and this is your first post. I am so sorry for your loss, this kind of scam shouldn't be your first experience of Bitcoin and Crypto. This might not get your money back you can find recommended exchange easily on Coinmarketcap. One of the exchange on the list is OKX which is decentralized, but if you think you prefer centralized exchange there also bunch of them on that list.
804  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Spreading bitcoin awareness; Your personal security matters first on: July 19, 2023, 12:31:50 PM
I don't know where you live right now OP, but in my country owning Bitcoin is not a crime, it's currently legal to own a bitcoin here, as long as you don't use it as a currency. Centralize exchange are free to advertise their platform and to give proper education about bitcoin and crypto, so there is no need of secrecy to discuss bitcoin.

I wish anywhere you live, you will be able to discuss and buy Bitcoin freely very soon.
805  Economy / Economics / Re: Population: Economic strength or weakness on: July 19, 2023, 12:26:35 PM
Though I think it will depends on so many factors like the nutrition and education level of the people, population is more of strength rather than weakness, the top 2 of the largest economy in the world is USA and China, based on this site. Both country is also on the top 3 most populated country. based on this site. That shouldn't be a coincident.

In short I think more population meaning more worker to produce more goods, and more consumers to attract investors.

807  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why non-trader beginners prefer to leave their BTC on CEX? on: July 19, 2023, 12:28:21 AM
Yeah I totally agree that most of new people in Bitcoin don't want to setup their own wallet is because they don't want the extra step, however I think there another reason like the person is not yet fully committed to Bitcoin so they left the Bitcoin on their CEX wallet, so incase they saw the Bitcoin price dropping they can easily and quickly sell and cashout their Bitcoin again.
808  Economy / Economics / Re: Can CBDC users lose control of their money? on: July 18, 2023, 11:59:57 PM
'Can CBDC users lose control of their money?' well yes definitely, that's like the main purpose of the CBDC, cryptocurrencies are not controllable by the the government, while government need something that can be controlled so they can maintain stability of their people.
809  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is Gamble gain more fans than Bitcoin? on: July 18, 2023, 11:55:20 PM
I don't think you could compare Bitcoin and Gambling, both are two different things that are not directly comparable, Bitcoin is a form of payment, and Gamble is a hobby/activity. It will be like comparing sports and gold, people love both, you can gamble while buying bitcoin, so this comparison wasn't really necessary.
810  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation is making a mess of my savings. on: July 18, 2023, 03:13:39 AM
Inflation is really biting hard, and nobody is doing anything about it, should we all just go with what Tupac said, "that's just the way it is, things will never be the same".
A lot of person's have ascribed this global inflation to the crisis Rocking Ukraine and Russia,  a lot of person's have also said it's as a result of shortage of gas supply across Europe and other countries.
The whole story is not just clear, as to why inflation is biting so hard and IMF AND WORLD BANK are not doing anything about it and the people are just left to face their fate alone.
The prices of goods and services are constantly going astronomical high and there is no hope insight of this ugly situation coming to a halt.

The purchasing powers of citizens are getting weak and I don't understand if the consumer protection laws are even effective anymore this days.
You buy something for a certain amount today, in the next one week, that same item you bought  has charged Prince without any reason.
How are you guys pulling it through with this inflation?

I don't know where were you came from, but from where I come from, the inflation is quiet low, from 2017 it always less than 4%, since I am not an expert in macro economy I can't validate nor knowing how is that number came from. But if we compared the price of some commodity like gold and petrol, their price has been up about 25% since 2019. So, I guess my money has 20% less value to bought some stuff.
811  Economy / Economics / Re: Entrepreneurship and women on: July 18, 2023, 02:57:38 AM

I couldn't find the research that has such details as the link above, but according to this data the percentage of woman and man who become an entrepreneur compared to the whole population in 2019 is similar, 14.1% of woman is entrepreneur and 14% of Man is entrepreneur. I think it can only show that both man and woman has the same confidence level of becoming an entrepreneur.

Again that is the macro data, but from my experience at least in my region women are more likely to become an entrepreneur since it's easier for Man to get a formal job, to get employment while woman need to deals with a household, so it drive them to be entrepreneur where the can juggle between household and work.
812  Economy / Economics / Re: Always ask for POD form from your bank on: July 17, 2023, 10:31:40 PM
I don't think this kind of POD Form that is issued by the Bank is applicable in my country, in here Bank is Obligated by the law to give the money of the deceased to their family, or else if they want to give their money to someone outside of family they need to make a wills (this one might need a lawyer). Both my parents died last two years when the covid attacks, gladly they don't left much money so I and my siblings never bother to argue about some money, all those money were spent for the funerals.

And I thought a lot of us are already bankless. With so much advice to leave your money out of the banks because of the bank runs, You must have missed the warnings for still having a bank account and having plans to get POD?  Not also sure if this option is offered in my country. But it wouldn't hurt to have POD if you still have a bank account though.

I wish I don't need bank account, most of the transaction here now is cashless, and the only legal currency is the money issued by central bank, Bitcoin is illegal as the form of payment here.
813  Economy / Economics / Re: Can your passion lead to an increase in your net worth? on: July 16, 2023, 02:07:48 PM
I have a very weird experience and story about passion, I used to passionate about Graphic Design and Animation. I really like to learn about it, keep getting better, digging deep on the technique and several style, but right after I turn my passion into a job and I earned money from this passion, I became less and less passionate about this. What I did next is finding a new hobby and turn it into passion, I am into music now, I learn it, keep digging on it, but now I have a fear if I am actually getting money from this new passion I will lose the passion again.

815  Local / Ekonomi, Politik, dan Budaya / Re: Politik Saling Serang/Politik Indentitas on: July 16, 2023, 02:13:57 AM

816  Economy / Economics / Re: How Long in Years Should I Wait Before I Close Down an Unprofitable Business on: July 16, 2023, 02:04:49 AM
I think it highly depend on the industry of the business, I only have experienced two business failure. I will only tell the first one which is a culinary business, everything went bad in the first year, and the business didn't make any profit after the 9th month, and it ran out of money after 1 year (or 14 month, I forget the details) so I decided to take a loan, this culinary business is not getting better and I officially give up after 2 years and 3 months. I think the loan is a mistake and I should be just give up after 1 year and the business ran out of money. And after I was asking around to some of my colleague who has a lot more experiences in culinary business, they said that most culinary business will either last long and succeeded, or died about the first year.
It's not really advisable to take a loan to help a business that's trying to survive. It's only good to take a loan when you're into expansion and your business is already profitable. But I do understand why many owners are doing that, it's because they're believing in what they do and the business that they're establishing.

But then, if it's already too long like a year or two and then the business is still not making a profit and you're already in debt. That's the time to acknowledge everything that it's not going to work if you have done already a lot of things like trying to change the process, upscaling, changing location and other things.

Yep, lesson learned, I shouldn't have taken that loan, after I know that the business is not profitable again. But I think the main reason why I took that loan is because I still want to keep up the hope, since I already invest my money my time and my effort into the business. I don't think I could accept that all those time, money and effort will be wasted if I close the business at that time. It turn out, those loan make me waste more money, more time and more effort.
817  Local / Ekonomi, Politik, dan Budaya / Re: [DISKUSI] Efektifitas Teknologi Blockchain untuk Perbankan on: July 16, 2023, 01:54:30 AM
~

818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitconnect : learning from the past. How is it possible to invest life savings ? on: July 15, 2023, 03:58:04 PM
Okay, although I was here in 2017, I vaguely remember the whole BitConnect incident. I hardly remember anything after over 6 years. However, this isn't the first incident, is it? We've had plenty of similar ones in the past year or two. Starting from the FTX exchange and their token, FTT, which went downhill after the exchange shutdown and is now worth peanuts. Guess what, there were people who had invested millions in FTX and the token itself. It's sickening to think that at one point you're a rich and successful investor and, in the next moment, you have absolutely nothing. Don't get me started on Terra, which crashed within a day or two, vanishing billions of dollars worth of crypto and, of course, no solution was ever found for its investors.

I think it's because BitConnect are not that popular in Europe and North America, (where mostly is first world country). But it's massively popular in South East Asia, in Indonesia where I came from, it even reach the grass root level, where there is a community of Bitconnect that held monthly meeting, and believe it or not most of the people never heard of Bitcoin or even Cryptocurrency, all they knew was Bitconnect. One of my relative joined this community, depositing some money, but after few months of explanation and argument with me, I can finally assure him that it's a ponzi scam, he finally withdraw his money, about few months before the Bitconnect fall.

Anyway most people in here never learn from the Bitconnect, after Bitconnect, there are several similar scam, and people still invest in it, some of the scam falsely claiming as crypto but it's not, and people still believe in it, and the more shocking thing is that they are the same people that are fooled by Bitconnect and previous scam project. I really surprise that they still have money after all those thing.
