This really is crazy... I should have cut my losses back at $4 but i thought we were headed for a correction.
802  Economy / Speculation / Re: Kim Jong Il is dead. Will it have an impact on BTC prices? on: December 20, 2011, 05:06:08 AM
Now all we need is Heir Harper to go up here in Canada. We wouldn't be so lucky.

Mubarak could still die by the end of the year though.
803  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prediction contest: when will bitcoin break $4? or will it never break $4? on: December 20, 2011, 04:55:41 AM
They asked why, I gave the reason. The other reason is you end up with 2 or more winners with different dates like we had happen. Let Old Engineer decide... not my battle.

For a start the market opens and closes at 12GMT
805  Economy / Speculation / Re: Charge! on: December 20, 2011, 04:49:16 AM
This is a rally unlike I have seen since i started in bitcoin. Honestly this has me worried about a bit of a bubble and since all my funds are in USD now I am on the wrong side of the bubble.
806  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prediction contest: when will bitcoin break $4? on: December 20, 2011, 04:44:53 AM
Dec. 19

Um, and what about me?

I think you can send MY prize winnings to the address in my Sig.

Was December 20 according to GMT. I think this is what was meant by the bet but you would have to wait for engineer to decide that for you.
807  Economy / Speculation / Re: $4 today!? on: December 20, 2011, 04:43:53 AM
It would certainly appear so which means Goat would win another bet.... was going to go back and see if i could change my date but i see he already has december 20

I predicted first, and I live in Illinois in the US.  It's 10:42 pm currently on 12/19/2011.

I think it is assumed that it is GMT time or many people would be correct.

811  Economy / Speculation / Re: $4 today!? on: December 20, 2011, 04:27:55 AM

813  Economy / Speculation / Re: Margin Trading and Options Soon on MTGox on: December 20, 2011, 12:45:51 AM
I just noticed today when I logged in that MTGox appears to be in the process of setting up margin trading and options. This could pose a bit of a problem for bitcoinica but it should be interesting to see what effect this has on the markets. My thoughts are that it will attract more investors and boost bitcoin prices for the long term. I did not see any topic under speculation discussing this so I figured why not start a thread.

What do you see on Mt Gox that makes you think this is so?

Would be nice on MT Gox to be able to create Stop/Stop Limit Orders.

Kind of limited trading right now with just market/limit orders.

There is a screen in this thread.

LOL ok then I guess I just havent been paying attention. If it has been soon for so long then does anyone know the current status on this? If this was up before their big countdown then thats what I really would have expected the countdown to be to.

Kim Jong Il confronting U.N. Weapons Inspector Hans Blix:

LOL I just knew without clicking on it that it was Team America. This movie is what I think of every time I think of Kim Jong Il as stupid of a movie as it was.

I have now locked voting. It would appear it has had some effect on the market but it is too hard to tell. Very interesting if it is what caused the big move though.
820  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why can't mtgox make your own real-time charts? on: December 19, 2011, 01:09:35 PM
I currently run about 5 charts and about 2/3 of them run during major market moves. MTGoxLive consistently dies when volume increases though. I really wish there were more reliable charting options. I amd going to try that moody site from now on.
