so are u saying that day tradings in stock markets is gambling? how so, since they are selling courses on strtegies and methods to learn more about predictions and estimations
Poker is gambling. But there is also an element of skill. The same can be said about pattern recognition and/or other trading strategies, or betting on sports.

The point is to play enough so that on average, you win. That's how you beat the volatility of randomness: the law of large numbers Smiley
802  Other / Off-topic / Re: Contact tracer vs scammers. on: August 21, 2020, 03:53:02 AM
Simple advice is just to think about the things they're asking for, and why they would possibly do so. Same thing applies to all scammers: the methods may differ but the structure is always the same, and if you can find that, then you're almost never going to run into a scam.

Can't be scammed if you don't pay someone or leak your important details. Smiley

condering peaking was 19k usd last years.
Do you mean 'last years' as in, over the recent years? The peak of last year's Bitcoin price was roughly US$13000.

is there a way to predict without it becoming gamblings aleternative? how does people do daytrading then
TA, fundamental analysis... these are still technically "gambling" since they're more risk offsets than guarantees. No one has an absolutely reliable system, but as long as you can beat the odds (fees, mainly) and ensure +ev for your inputs, you're going to do well. I'm not experienced in trading, so you'll have to learn from someone else.

With a source, OP is fine from plagiarism. I don't think the forum is too strict and requires people have to leave initial sources to not be considered as plagiarism and get account restrictions (perma bans for this rule break).
It's not about plagiarism, really. It's about the post quality. If you just republish an article on the forum, not really adding that much to it (usually, users post one/two sentences if that), then should we not consider the value that the thread gives exclusive of the article contents? If you look at the post at what the user brought, then you have their couple words and the fact that they found an article to share.

That's what I want to concentrate on stopping.
805  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin pricing on: August 21, 2020, 03:17:43 AM
Better to just buy if the asset has lower value, but you know that the asset is strong, so you will trust.
Yeah, but then the question becomes, "when is the asset undervalued?"

If you can answer that question and get it right more often than you don't, then you're going to make money. The problem is finding a system that is reliable/accurate enough to get you that outcome. If you're too bold with your strategies and play with too much confidence, you might as well play poker. At least there are more fish to hang out with there. Wink
806  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin pricing on: August 21, 2020, 02:59:44 AM
yes but would it be more suitable to buy at lowest and buy highest rather than buying average? also there is still potentials to lose even when averaging strategy
It's not up to me to decide which strategy for trading you want to establish. You can try and "buy low sell high" but that would only be if you have the knowledge to speculate with a positive expectation. Taking the average is just mitigating risk and it's more of a low-level strategy that anyone can apply if they just want to get a reasonable price for their Bitcoin.

You can think of DCA as paying the price that corresponds to the average sentiment of Bitcoin over your duration.

Too bad this content is plagiarized from here https://3commas.io/blog/common-types-of-crypto-scam.
Their source differs from the original. Ironically, they translated an already-translated article.

I think this is fine, but the problem is that we're just seeing users post articles and then link them to count as substantial posts. I don't like that.
808  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin pricing on: August 21, 2020, 02:38:26 AM
ty for quick reply. i did google on dca strategy which allows to be less volatile yes? such that slowly accumiating bitcoin overtime rather then buying all at once?
Just think about it. You avoid the volatility by spreading out your purchases, which means that you're taking the average of the purchases.

If the price swings from 8K to 10K to 6K, you could use the system to get the average of 8K  for your coins instead of possibly 10K at a peak.
809  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Get a Price ₿oost on every sport, every day! 🤑🤑🤑 on: August 20, 2020, 02:27:46 AM
121 participants left on leaderboard.

The update time, ironically, needs to be updated. "Leaderboard updated: 14-08-2020 08:00 GMT" is what it currently reads.
A little under three weeks, and the participant pool is 32.7% of its initial value, 370. This means that so far, on average, 15.5 participants were eliminated each day, resulting in a 4.2% average daily reduction of players (fixed to base).

It will be interesting to see how many people stick through, now that we're at ~$100 per winner. If we're going off very basic calculations, playing Blackjack at the <1% edge mark makes the entire promotion have an associated statistical cost of 2.50 mBTC.

The prize is currently hovering around 8.26 mBTC and each participant dropping out exponentially increases the prize value.

Please refrain from giving false hope. We're only a halving or two away from that and I think it would take a medium-sized miracle to make EpochTalk usable within the next 8 years.
That's if you're considering block fees. When the transaction fee is at parity with the block reward, we will have reached a most interesting equilibrium point.
811  Other / Meta / Re: [Ref] Hey theymos I've got a brilliant idea (honest!) & other symbols of use on: August 19, 2020, 03:07:09 PM
Is there an ETA for when the new forum is to be fully out? I see the github commits on the discord bot, but other than that not much Sad
ETA: when we reach Bitcoin reward-to-fee parity. You'll get there faster if you take a couple space trips quick enough.
812  Other / Meta / Re: Round #3 Paraphrasing/synonymize, is it ok? on: August 19, 2020, 02:31:00 PM
what counts as paraphrasing or still counts as plagiarism but I forgot on which topic it was but I remembered text spinning still counts as plagiarism.
If you're taking someone else's intellectual property, and it so happens that they are not credited for their ideas, then you have committed intellectual theft. And if you submit your post with all that in mind, that should be plagiarism.

Stream of consciousness, interesting...

I haven't been the greatest about my photography, especially after I saw so many beautiful landscapes before me and didn't understand a single thing, in the first hours that my car started breaking into bits!I've learnt more by seeing others die with my broken stuff than on all my journeys around on the bicycle - you go somewhere for 30+ km through the desert with thousands dying in cars while your bike survives , there just some of my life's lessons :)On an empty street I try everything: running water( no) electric cigarette chargers ( yes ) - electric blanket ( no ). When a stranger calls to say , they don 't care in these moments

The reason that critical thinking is so important is that our thinking is critical to what is being discussed in a wide variety of ways and is so vital that we are all able to engage it with our fellow people, and in this respect it is the right decision to make, and it is our duty for them to make this important choice and to act to the good that we have been promised and to do. The reason for that choice is that the only reason that the world needs to do more than we can do, because of the fact that people in this room are still very, very different than the people in our own world who have been promised, because we are so much more capable and capable than those in other places around the world. So, I think that is the right decision. What are you going to do? Do you want to work to make it happen, do you think that it's possible, if you are able to do something? I am very confident, because I know it's not possible for me and it's hard to do anything to stop that from happening to me and to others, and so on. It is not just a decision, but the fact that it can't do it is the most powerful decision that we can make. It is the only choice, but I believe in the best. I have been a little surprised to hear that the world is so different now than it was when we started. But I believe in this, and I have not only been so excited, I believe that we are all better than we ever were when we started. And so, that means that I think that there will always be something special to the world, and we can never forget. And I hope that we can live in a different world that we have now. But that will never stop, or ever stop, for me, that will always be something that is important.

The reason for supporting the flag was so that PlayerX could get the answers from sportsbet they wanted and for sportsbet to take the case seriously, that’s what they were asking for help to do. Had sportsbet supplies answers then I would have removed the flag. The flag helps them take it seriously. Nothing more.
That's an improper use of the flag system, though it's no fault of yours that you were mistaken about the mechanics and intent of it. Educate yourself here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5153344.0

Warning about scams is different from warning about possible scams.
Ah, yes, and as the breeze descends from our heads, the sun rises. We look down at each other, and the sun sets up a bright star that looks just like it's the brightest star in a constellation. It's not quite a big star, but it has been around a million times in all our existence. We're looking back at our past as well as the way we have interacted. The light of this universe has been changing our perception of the cosmos, and it is changing our perceptions about what is going on around us.

Let the market choose what the right decision is. If the laborers/workers decide that the wages are worth the potential of exploitation, then that is their rational (presumably) action given their circumstances.

It is free advertising, but shouldn't you be a great poster when you're applying to a signature campaign anyway? Wink
Look, let me tell you this. There's a simple explanation to why I pooped my pants last Thursday. It wasn't because I had the tacos - I love that place - no it was because I got too nervous and you know I get the sweats. Yeah, the sweats, they're really bad; it's almost so bad that my pants get soaked and I need to start changing them but anyway that's getting too off-topic. All I'm saying is, I gotta get back to that Taco Bell. Those were some great burritos. [quote author="

..or more (not less). meaning the size is the sum of transactions paying anything higher than or equal to the value on the left (eg >=2).
My mistake. Mixing up the system. Roll Eyes

technically any fee value that shows up to 1 MB has the potential of being included in the next block. the problem is if more transactions pop up paying more which is not possible to predict.
Like I said previously in the thread, using the peaks is a decent predictor for the future fees. Usually, though, I like to just do 10-20% more than the fee at the time, or even 1-3MB size fee values if I'm not in a hurry.

Have to balance the free market Wink

If I'm wrong then I apologize about it, I was just upset on the way this Saturent user fooled everyone.
That's why I made this thread because he did waste lots of my time and I'm sure he wasted others' as well.
One user should not corrupt the entire population of Newbies. That is a ridiculous extrapolation and you are too intelligent to be fooled by that flawed logical progression. A single bad actor doesn't mean that the other cases were not legitimate, or that subsequent cases would not be legitimate. For one, the neymar case reached a resolution of some sort whereas the saturent one resulted in them ousting themselves.
